Our dryer which we have had from Whirlpool for less than a month stopped working. Whirlpool sent a tech from this Company. They were able to come quickly; however, when they arrived they indicated that the issue was power to the outlet and that they were unable to do anything without power. The tech indicated that the dryer issue could have been what caused the outlet to stop working, but they wouldn't know until power was restored. Before leaving they wanted me to sign something that indicated that if there was any damage to my home from the appliance they were not liable! I refused because I told them if the dryer was causing the issue I wanted them to make it right, which the tech said "I think they'd cover it" ok... well you're trying to make me sign something that would legally make you/ whirlpool not liable and that means more to me than your word. Anyway, I didn't sign it. The tech proposed a different option where it said I would owe $99. I said why do I owe $99 he said you don't, this is just the only workaround I can do to make it so you don't have to sign the other form. Ok.. I accepted that form and now I owe $99. Shocker. Glad I didn't sign the one that said they wouldn't be liable if the dryer was causing issues. I happened to have an electrician coming out later that day who let me know that the dryer is running at a higher voltage than its supposed to be and that is why it's causing issues with the outlet. The electrician was able to address the issue with the outlet and indicated that to avoid issues we should keep the dryer on the low setting. They charged me for the repair that was not completed. They were going to charge me $400 for my repair for an ice maker. They were going to replace the entire thing. Sears appliance put it back together again for $149. Never again will I use them. Update: Some moneys were refunded to me. I got in touch with Michigan Appliance Repair and within a day, Charles came out to look at my washing machine and my dishwasher. He was awesome! He was kind and courteous and helped inform me on the best way to take care of my washing machine (it stopped working because of operator error!!) He figured out pretty quick what was wrong with my dishwasher and gave me a very fair estimate and a few options. read more

When I was faced with the appliance needing repair, I called about five places. Four of the five did not speak English as a native language, I would guess they were in India. Michigan Appliance Repair was the only one that answered in English that I could understand. They were very courteous and even called me as the repair date and time arrived, keeping me in the know. Avoid this company at all cost! They are a complete scam company. Tried to charge me over $450.00 to install a $25.00 belt. When I said absolutely not they still wanted to charge $89.00 for a service call even though they did nothing. To make things worse. The guy never actually even touched the dryer. He didn't even take off the cover. He just came into the house, looked at the dryer and said it would be $450.00 dollars. Absolutely the worst company I've ever felt with. Maytag authorized 3rd party servicer. Appliance is 363 days old and a covered 10yr limited P&L part has failed. Was given a ridiculous 4 hr window for scheduled repair. They called at the 3hour 20 min mark to say they wouldn't make it. Zero accountability from Michigan Appliance Repair. Was told I should've called to see where i was on their priority list. Which is absurd. Was given apologies and sorry's. Great. Sorry and apologies don't pay my bills. But tonight for dinner I will feed my kids a bowl of sorry with a box of Apology crackers. Now they refuse to come at all. So again you create a angering situation and the way you resolve this is to refuse to take accountability. Must be nice to be so big and above decent humanity, Its not the individual repairman's fault so my anger wouldn't be with him. Do not use them. They tried to charge me more than 2 times the amount that Lansing Appliance repair charged me to fix a dryer. They wanted more to fix the dryer then to buy a new one. Asked them to refund the $99 appointment fee and they refused to even though I brought up the fact they are price gouging. Here are the two invoices for same dryer same parts as proof. Have used a few times. Guy was always polite and timely, but we wondered about the costs each time as well as the amount of time needed to order parts and do the job. Needless after they botched our dryer repair, needed six weeks to do ti and charged us over $200 more than what it should have been - we are done. My dishwasher refused to drain on Christmas (which is a totally awesome day to have that happen). I called another company and made an appointment (coughsearscough) and they ghosted us...twice. I fired them and called Michigan Appliance Repair. The repair guy actually showed up (on time!) and quickly figured out what the problem was and fixed it. I now have a fully functional dishwasher and he showed me what was wrong with it (turns out the previous homeowner added an unnecessary tube and something caused a blockage in the drain tube). The tech was friendly and efficient and I now have a new repair company if I need them. read more

Waited a week for appointment tech was an hour & a half late 6:30 pm. Then another week for part now another week for appointment to install. They wouldn't schedule return visit until part received. I was told one or two days to schedule install not a week. read more

Technician was terrific. Clear, thoughtful, helpful. Brainstormed alternate solutions; discussed cost tradeoffs honestly. Both his first call and the installation call were great. If I was rating only on service in that sense, it would be 5 stars for sure. Dinged them one star just because they didn't handle the scheduling of the repair as well as they should have. We waited a week+ for the part to arrive, and they only started the scheduling process for installation after the part was physically in their hands--and were at that point not scheduling until well into the following week. It added more than a week of delay to a drier that had already been broken for 3 weeks. That said, it's a problem that's pretty easily fixed/anticipated by the consumer. I'd just push them to schedule the follow up appointment simultaneous with the parts order next time (and go to some other company if they didn't agree to do so). As flies in the ointment go, it's pretty easily fixed. Again, the tech who came was just terrific; one of the best and clearest and most thoughtful repair guys I've worked with. Absolutely disappointing experience. My dishwasher ended up in a worse position after the "repair". Service techs were very nice, girls that answer the phone were also nice and helpful. But the work was not done properly. Scheduled a followup and waited 7 hours at home. No one showed yet the tech claimed he did show up. That was a lie. Asked for a refund multiple times and met with resistance and ending up with a partial refund. This is after several months. DO NOT RECOMMEND. I called MI Appliance Repair after a problem with my front load washer and Ryan was terrific. He wasn't able to tell me why clothes were coming out of my 12 year old washer really wet when I have a heavy load (it wasn't spinning all the water out of them) but after running a # of tests he gave me some ideas based on what he saw. Very possibly I'm going to need a new circuit board and that's not inexpensive. If that's the case it might make more sense to buy a new laundry machine instead of fixing my existing one. He said that these machines don't last as long as the top loading machines so I may not get too many more years out of the one I now have. With this in mind this is probably the path I'll take. Dryer technician did not work with vent. What if fixing the dryer involves cleaning the vents. Fortunately, I knew how to open, clean and connect the vents back so I did that myself which took me 30 minutes. MAP tech. opened the front bottom of the dryer and vacuumed it to get rid of the vibration. It took him 20 minutes to do that job. My total charge was $168 for a 20 minute job. Thank goodness I found their $50 coupon online for first time customer. read more

I am very dissatisfied with this company. It has taken 2 weeks to get the part in needed for my dryer only to be told they received the wrong part and had to reorder. I've called several times and no one seems to communicate clearly what is going on, just that they are waiting on something?!?! On top of that, my father already paid them so its not like I can go somewhere else. Very disgusted with how long this process is taking. I think 2 weeks is MORE than enough time to get a part in. I'm a single parent and work full time. I physically don't have enough time or money to be going to the laundry mat every few days, but this company doesn't care about people like me. Technicians have been professional and have either fixed or recommended next steps on each apt I've had with them. Service was quick and I was able to use a first time customer coupon. Payment terms have changed a bit, not in favor of the customer. They used to wave/roll in the service/driving fee into the cost if work is preformed, but that no longer happens, making each apt $85+ more expensive each trip for an already expensive service. read more

I recently had Michigan Appliance Repair come out & look at a dryer that suddenly stopped working. The repairman was polite & arrived (more or less) on time. He told me the problem was the timer& it would cost $350 to fix. My husband was suspicious of this & did his own research into our particular dryer brand. He found out that the most common problem was a started, which you can buy on-line for $9. He bought one & installed it himself & fixed the dryer, saving us $341. Luckily we didn't believe the repairman. Unluckily we still had to pay for an $80 service call so that he could come out & up-sell us on repairs. read more

They kept in contact with me so I knew when the technician was going to arrive and he arrived within the appointment window. He was super friendly and very knowledgable. I used this company to repair my dishwasher touch pad/control panel. Pros: Service technician was polite, friendly and knowledgable. Repair work was done effectively and neatly. Cost seemed fair. Cons: Took way to long for a basic repair. It took two weeks to get an initial appointment, then another week for a part to be ordered. Wrong part came in and had to wait for it to be ordered again. I was very disappointed with their business conduct and doing the right thing. One of the only reasons I picked this company over others is because they had a $50 coupon for first time user. I had printed off the coupon but forgot to give it to the technician because I had another service company which was unplanned and at the same time. I called back the next day and was told they would not honor it. Additionally the technician brought along a trainee and allow the training to do all the work without asking if that was okay with me. I don't believe I got the best service and feel like the management doesn't understands what it means to build rapport with a customer for continued business. Poor customer service and iffy repair skills. Our oven igniter quit working on July 21. We could still light it by hand but we requested a repair. They came out (finally) on Aug. 8 and said it would be 3-5 days to get parts. (The tech did something to the oven that day so that we could no longer light it manually.) They showed up to make the repair on Aug. 23. The repair lasted long enough to make dinner that night and then the oven broke again. They do not stand by their work and would not send a tech out to fix it immediately but told us we'd have to wait another week. No apology, no call back from their manager, nothing.
