I most recently took a lamp over to have a shade fit. They are very knowledgeable in pairing size and shape of a lampshade to the type of lamp you have. Last year, I also brought them a 1930's lamp where the pull chain mechanism had frozen up. In searching through their comprehensive supply of vintage parts, they actually found an original 1930's part to replace The one in the lamp, so that it matched its mate. Everyone there is very friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. I would highly recommend using them, as quality shops like this are going to vanish if we don't patronize them.

Walked in 9:45 am, was warmly greeted and welcomed. I knew in an instant it was old school charm and class. Offers a handshake... "hi I'm Marty Meldrum" Looked at my sockets, assessed the trouble. 3-way $18 Single $15 I inquire how many days? Would you like a deposit? Niether if you've got 10-12 minutes, I'll get done now. ( I told him I was from Utica) Or he's that good? Sat in my car as not to hover. Less than 11 minutes later he comes outside waves me in. Showed me the finished repairs. Suggested some high quality, low heat plastic bulbs. ( yes plastic bulbs well I'll be!) I asked how long has this place been around? M&M 75 years shortly! Large assortment of Lamps Shades Pull chains Shade knobs & decorations. Plus a handshake, fair price and a smile. Old School Service for the win. I truly thought I was in a 1960's Era. Unfortunately, I must give this shop a one star review. I say unfortunately because it is a very…read morenice looking store with some beautiful light fixtures. However, let me warn you that everything on display must be ordered. That is not the problem in itself, but what they do is hold orders and withhold shipping from the manufacturer making it a 4-6 week overall time to get your fixtures. And, they will not tell you that prior to leaving your deposit. Not surprising, because why would you order fixtures from them knowing that? If there was a legitimate reason that fixtures actually took that long, it would be understandable, but these are fixtures that the manufacturer has in stock now. Fixtures you could order online and get in a few days, or go to a local light store and have in stock. Ray's lighting, this is a very unethical way of doing business. And, no matter how many years you have been in business, you need to change your business model to be successful in the future.

I had black out blinds in the bedrooms installed and panel blinds in my living room a while ago…read more It was a couple that had brought me the swatches for the honeycomb style blackouts as well as the varieties of colors for the panels too. I picked out 5 track for the panels to have the blinds open up on each side. Once fully closed, they overlap nicely. While open they aren't exactly lined up on either ends. The blackout blinds had to be broken into 2 sections due to the height of the windows, they were 8 feet tall, the solid wasn't ideal but doable. The bigger section from the start would get stuck while trying to close to the ground and will often get stuck about 2-3 inches off the ground. The panels have to be carefully closed or they will bend and fold onto each other as they close over and pass the tracks. The right side must be closed over first and then the left. Sometimes I have to fix them so they don't bend as they go over the previous panels to nicely lay as planned. The panels are a bit more money but they look cool and give a nice shading, but not too much. All told, it was under $5k. The blackouts still leave gaps to the walls and soffits.
