Horrible. Was good before Covid. Two servers they were nice salad had rotten apples on it and under cooked chicken. Large pretzel appetizer which we were looking forward to and get every visit was hard and dry. Not returning to frankenmuth till things get a little more back to normal. Not a great trip all around. The only reason this place is getting a three is because of how the manager handled our complaint. We waited 10 min for a waitress to greet us. Appetizer took over 30 min to arrive so I called for manager. She took control of situation and apologized and gave us a few extras. The service was non-existent so we moved to the bar for lunch. Had the soft pretzel appetizer. It was average. I had the Grand burger on a pretzel bun. The bun was stale, the burger was overdone and black on the edges. Aweful. Wanted to send it back but didn't feel like the drama because I didn't want anything else. I believe that Michigan on Main exists just to say; Hey, you came to Frankenmuth to have chicken but chose here instead...we will teach you not to eat our chicken. Food was bland, service was good, price was high, drinks were decent, appetizer was really good. I was not impressed with the new incarnation of Bavarian Inn's upstairs restaurant. The good news? The twisty french fries and sweet/sour slaw were both excellent and the service was good. The bad news? Everything else....the footlong brats were mealy and they came on excessively bready pretzel buns. The hamburger was okay, but also on a very bready, chewy pretzel bun with strange condiments--spring greens and grape tomatoes? Did they steal them from the salad bar??? The bufffalo chicken mac & cheese was interesting. We tried two desserts--the lemon pie (don't bother) and the twin puffs, which were okay. And what did a burger, 2 brats, a chicken mac & cheese, tiny fish tacos, 1 beer, and one pop run us? $87, that's what. We won't be back. read more

Asked for gluten free menu. Waiter was not familiar with it at all, nor was the manager. Brought out salad and it had croutons. When I asked if they were gluten free, he told me "I don't know." And tried to give it to me. I asked him to please go ask before I'd take it and sure enough, it was not. Chicken was incorrect, not seasoned and definitely not "juicy" per their menu. Food was great, service was ok. I ordered the "teaser " wedge salad, which was half a head of lettuce! HUGE! Also had the Caprese Salad which was wonderful. We split the Sparty Party appitizer which was also huge, and everything on it was great! Definitely give this place a try! read more

My wife and I wanted to try the new menu and were pleasantly surprised. My wife's small salad was huge and tasty. I had a fantastic dumpling soup. We'll be back to try some of the other unique sounding meals. Furthest thing from chain restaurant food. We like that. Nice new bar area too. read more

After walking around the Bavarian Inn a little bit, we settled into the bar here. This part of the Inn has been re-done (since we were last here) and is very, very nice. ALL the food they serve here at MI on Main is grown and produced in MI - so the choices on their menu don't include all the regular items found on the Inn's main menu. That said, they will order you anything you want, they just have to get you the Bavarian Inn menu and put your order in somewhere else. It seemed like a little extra hassle, so we just skipped to the drinks. I had a couple tulip glasses of Short's Brewing Strawberry Shorts Cake and my wife had some kind of grape-y drink, which was much to her liking. The beer was delicious, the service was beyond excellent, and the folks who joined us at the bar were wonderful, too. Great experience, great service - we'll definitely be back. read more

We decided to go here bc it was super close to our hotel, we staying at the Bavarian Inn. Definitely recommend the chicken club with fries and add an order of ranch on the side. The absolute best ranch i e ever had. Sandwich was delish! Will definitely come again, it's a must have! read more

Terrible service. Went there for a drink during the Bavarian festival. Sat at a table that had 8-10 dirty glasses. We were very patient waiting for the dirty glasses to be cleared and our order taken. The closest we came after waiting 15 minutes was when what looked to be a manager walked by and just looked at us. A waitress finally came to take our order but never came back with the drinks. Just had lunch here was not impressed at all. They have ruined a perfectly good place. I will never step foot back in this place. We ordered a chicken cordon bleu. It was totally different then what it used to be. The wait staff tried to hard to be nice also. I don't need a waiter or a manager every 5 mins. Also the chicken was burnt it looked like it was sitting on the stove for a couple hrs and the potato wedges were really crispy. Please change the resturant back to what it normally was. read more

We have been back a couple times now...They did freshin up the menu with a few things that are not fried...They were good but the service was still miserable...None of the staff knows anything and it has become more of an employee hang out rather then a place locals can enjoy...Last time we visited all the employees were sitting at the bar ordering "special" items that were not on the menu and using horrid language...The place has so much potential if someone would open up there eyes...Close the freezer lid...Freshin up the menu and not allow employees to spoil it for the paying customers...O ya...Hire some servers / bartenders that care. read more

This place was awful!! We waited forty five minutes in line only to be placed at a super small table by a freezing window. It then took ten minutes for a waitress to arrive and she could have cared less about us. The food was ice cold when it arrived (after another lengthy wait) and you could tell it had been sitting under a heat lamp. My husbands hamburger was dry and unappetizing. I got the bratwurst and asked for some mustard and the waitress brought me two packets when I clearly saw mustard on another table. Everything we asked for seemed like it was putting her out. Holy crap can you say poor service. So I came here the other day and the girl was pretty good. My drink was $4. Today I came back and my drink was $5.75. Can you say price gouge?! Ali was our waitress. She gave us our bill and left for 10-15 min. She was over on the side chatting with her friends. She then started to walk over toward us and then she turned around. I normally tip pretty high, but every 5 min that she didn't come and get the bill she lost a dollar in her tip. read more

Really good spicy bloody mary.... depending on which bartender makes it. Not consistent. The menu is strange. Weird items added on to most dishes that just don't make sense. Tried the chicken pot pie. I don't recommend it. I don't know if the mush filling came straight out of a can but the neon orange color was off putting and it was extremely bland. read more

We went there on a Sunday night as we thought we were getting what it used to be. To our surprise it was not like it used to be. I was highly disappointed in the service, food and prices were all horrible. I ordered the brat and pretzel and the pretzel was all dried out and tasted terrible. The brat was okay but the side order of kraut was maybe like a quarter cup - since when is kraut a high priced side? And the other side was also in a tiny cup. My sons dinner was actually tasty and cute. He got the Michigan pot pie dinner. My husband was not satisfied with his choice either. We missed when there used to be schnitzel, brat, kraut,and cheese puffs dinner and what happened to the Frankenmuth Dark beer not on the menu? This cute patio spot is perfect for lunch. The atmosphere is great. There are a lot of tables with umbrellas. The food is excellent. I had The Grand sandwich which came on a pretzel bun the was delish. A side of their cranberry salad came with it too, which I love! This place is inside the Bavarian Inn so parking is a pain. It's along the side facing Main Street (directly across from Zehnders) above the shopping area. The bar area and dining room are very attractive and inviting, BUT.... The food is just awful. I started with the B&G Grilled Cheese Sticks. It sounds like it's basically just a grilled cheese cut into sticks, but I figured I must be missing something and ordered them because I love cheese and I love bread, so hey. Well, my bad... It really IS just a grilled cheese cut into sticks, but they grill it on top of some Parmesan, which takes on a nasty burnt flavor. Ick. Maybe the "Caprese" dip can save them. When I think "Caprese", I think Tomato, Mozzarella, and Basil. What I got was thinned out Thousand Island dressing. Bughhhh... Then my Michigan Ale Brat came. I had substituted the fries (from frozen) for the house made Michigan Potato Cheese Puffs and I started there. Gummy, bland, and dismal. I took a dip of the Ale Dip and it was basically a sweet, thin honey mustard. Meh. The brat itself was actually pretty good, but the bun was way too thick and a mouth desiccating level of dry. I cut about half the bun away and it was better, but still just didn't add to the party in a positive way. The brat, like all the sandwiches, also comes with a "Michigan side". Michigan Potato salad was today's and it was OK, but I'm not really a fan of potato salad so there's that. Service was fair, but did take about 5 minutes to notice I was even there since its seat-your-self. $20 + a tip later, I wish I would have gone elsewhere. read more

Stopped here a few weekends ago on a date night with the husband. Wanted to sit outside, so it was a seat yourself. Only available place to sit was the bar, no biggie. We sat and waited for a waitress. We waited for quite awhile, however. It was over 10 minutes before a girl (who I think was understaffed, because she seemed quite flustered) came up to us and asked what we had wanted. Instead of doing it in the usual order like "what would you like to drink?" (then gets our drinks) then "what would you like to eat" (then brings us our meal), it was more like okay what would you guys like? We ordered our beers (which aren't cheap by the way) and then she kind of awkwardly stared at us for a good 10 seconds. I asked if she wanted our food order as well and she said "if you wouldn't mind, yes". I was kind of peeved by that. Granted, we did have 10-15 minutes to look at the menu, but we didn't get a hello, food suggestion, how are you, we just got a "what would you guys like tonight?" I feel like a place with a reputation such as Bavarian Inn can hire better waitresses like that. Our food came out relatively quick. I got a veggie burger and he got a chicken sandwich. Fries were very good. He did ask for no coleslaw with his meal, but it came anyways. No biggie - more for me. Throughout the duration of our meal we were never checked on, never asked if we wanted drink refills (both of our beers were empty by the time our food came), and we had to wait another 10-15 minutes before our bill came after we were done eating too. I will say that the food was quite good here. The beer as well. Again, it is on the pricier side, but I can live with that. It's the service that really cost this place stars. Service was absolutely terrible. A group of 4 of us came in about 9 o'clock pm on a Saturday and sat in the bar area. The actual bar was full so we sat at a table near the bar. We waited about 10 minutes for service, ordered some beers, drank them and then had to wait about 15 minutes for refills-could not find the server anywhere. Server was very cold, not friendly whatsoever. Doubtful if we will ever come back. We drank and dine in Frankenmuth quite a bit and we have never had an experience like this. Stopped in for a few drinks last night. Had never been here before so we decided to give it a shot. They had a good selection of craft beers. We had two bartenders.. Both of which were awesome. They were both super friendly, and very knowledgeable! My girlfriend and I were impressed. They both let us taste/sample some craft beers and offered suggestions based upon what they personally liked.. And on what others have said. Went here on a beautiful Sunday afternoon a couple weeks back with my Mom. We had already had a big lunch so we figured we would give this place a try and people watch with a drink. First off, the tables and chairs are all crammed together making it difficult to move around or get comfortable. Regardless, we sat down and skimmed the special menu on the table. Mind you we had to pass a waitress and the bartender to cram into our table and neither of them acknowledged or greeted us. After a good fifteen minutes of no service I went up to the bar for a drink menu and tried to wave down the bartender. Unfortunately, he was to consumed with the young ladies on the other side of the bar. I decide to try my luck with the waitress. After another twenty minutes of trying to flag her down to no avail we finally called it a bust and got up and left. With the exception of some bar food the rest of the menu is identical to the Bavarian Inn Restaurant this place is attached to. The concept is great, but I suggest they look for different staff members if they really want this place to take off. read more
