As far as Diner's goes this one has won my heart, Home made dessert, friendly staff, excellent food. and if you happen to be there on friday they used to have a Fried Perch Special that was very good... While their standard menu is good solid fare, everytime I ordered one of their 'specials' I was always satisfied. And in the summer they have a local specialty , pineapple paradise... A pineapple cream pie that is simply divine... If there is some try it. Their rice pouding and home made pies are worth a detour. read more

If I could rate 10 stars I would, five stars for the food and five stars for the service. Let me begin by saying I'm a tour bus driver for a celebrity and was driving to Canada when I decided I was gonna stop and get something to eat. Driving by I was enticed by the breakfast sign in the front. Upon walking in I was greeted by an amazing lady that quickly sat me down at a booth. Once getting in the booth my waitress gave me some of the best selections but I chose chicken and waffles. Debbie came out and asked me if I ever had a Michigan dog (which I highly suggest) Debbie brought one out to me as an appetizer and I got to say it was the best hotdog I've ever had my life and I tore around the world so that says a lot! The whole entire staff made my experience one of the best I've ever had eating at a town I've never been to. Big hats off to the owner which is been working there since she was a little girl. After cruising by all the chain restaurants on the "strip" my partner & I choose the little A-Frame like Restaurant named Michigans Plus for an impromptu dinner returning back home from NY. We were greeted by friendly waitstaff who provided great service, the food arrived promptly, hot, and plentiful. We couldn't pass on the homemade cakes & pies so we took home our dessert. Tried out Michigan's Plus for lunch while visiting the area for college orientation. An order of two Michigan dogs with a side of mac salad and potato salad, double cheeseburger with homemade fries, and a waitress suggested fried perch special with homemade mac and cheese. The michigan sauce on the dogs was really tasty. The mac salad was bland and the potato salad was just ok. The perch was absolutely delicious! The mac and cheese had great flavor and was a big portion. The double cheeseburger was big and fresh and juicy. The homemade fries were awesome and had great flavor. Being a big fan of rice pudding I had to give it a try and i was told it was a family recipe. I thought it was ehhh it was a little underdone and made with nutmeg and I prefer cinnamon. I would like to try here again and checkout breakfast. Good food for a decent price with a super friendly staff. Update: Went for breakfast on SUNY Plattsburgh family weekend! Not great, not bad. I go there for breakfast occasionally. The food is usually good, but nothing special. The staff are very friendly and check back often to see if you need anything. They seem to be especially friendly to seniors and the diners seem to reflect that. The place is clean, but a little cramped. I will continue to make it one of my choices on the rare occasions I go out for breakfast. read more

I've been here once, and that was pretty much the only time I will need to come here. I sat at the diner bar and ordered a Michigan. The owner/manager just kept talking to me the entire time and she wouldn't shut up. She was bragging about how good their Michigans are, because they don't use a tomato-based sauce. Regardless, the Michigan was not good. It was essentially a hot dog with taco sauce on it. I'm sure this place has food that is good, but if you call yourself Michigan's Plus, you better have good Michigans, at the very least. read more

Although my SUNY Plattsburgh days are behind me, Ican say I've spent a few great morning with my then girlfriend, now wife, munching on some great breakfasts. If your looking for a nice quiet little place, this not the place to be! I don't think I've ever been there when it was slow. I have very mixed feelings about Michigan's Plus. The service is usually lacking. There have been times within the last year that I haven't even had my coffee refilled when it was completely empty. Breakfast is pretty good. I appreciate all of the gluten free options (pancakes and bread). However, the one time that I went there for dinner it was extremely disappointing. I ordered the turkey dinner. I received what appeared to be deli turkey slices that had been formed into a patty shape and grilled. The turnips were flavorless, the potatoes watery, and the store bought dinner roll was stale. The one thing that really made this experience bad was the fact that the stuffing was gray and thrown on the grill to warm it up. I haven't gone back for dinner due to this experience, but breakfast is pretty good. read more

Can't recommend this place enough for breakfast! Great food everything from my big John breakfast the scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, pancakes, home fries to the the kitchen omelette my girlfriend ordered. The service was very fast, our food was made and on the table only 8 minutes after we ordered it. Coffee was great too. Just be careful to get there before it gets too crowded seating can take some time if you come around 10:30-11 on the weekends, make sure to get there before the rush. read more

Michigans Plus...is it plural Michigans? I assumed there was just one Michigan. Don't let the exterior scare you off, this spot puts another Michigan on the board in Plattsburgh, NY. If you want breakfast, a Michigan hot dog or standard diner cuisine this place does it well. Like diner most menus, it is a little overwhelming. Waitress recommended the club, how can you go wrong with this old favorite. Michigans Plus takes it up a notch, house roasted turkey breast that they slice, no congealed pressed salty meat. I had a nice side salad where the greens were green and the tomato was red- very fresh for $2.99, also had a side of fresh mashed turnips also very good. Michigans Plus Restaurant has been a restaurant of choice for a number of years - from 2003. I have been eating breakfast when I want and have found all the breakfast's to be very satisfying and flavorable. I have recommended to hundred's of people that if they are looking for a great breakfast to try Michigans Plus. No one has reported back that they didn't like the food, service, affordability and the friendly service. Some people unfortunately can never be satisfied. I have had lunch numerous time since ( 2003 ) @ Michigans Plus and that was when I am not having breakfast. The meals including soups have never been returned to the kitchen because of something lacking. I have tried vertually everything on the menus that they have to offer. They offer beef, pork, turkey, chicken, liver, shrimp, clams plus other things. When I have not been unable to make breakfast or lunch, I then go at night and have what's on menu. Prime rib, spaghetti and meatballs, stuffed pork chops, lasagna, boiled dinner etc. If you can't find something on the menu, then you have a problem. I would rate Michigan Plus. As a five. This Diner is one of the best in Plattsburgh. We go every weekend when were on our way home to Montreal. The waitress are extra friendly and the service is quick. Ever since last July, I've been getting more and more familiar with Plattsburgh, during my last stay I decided to go out for breakfast and try something new. I saw this little place and figured 'why not'. Immediately as soon as I walked in, I was seated by the friendliest waitress! Service was hospitable and fast! The food...perfection! Hubby and I came here as we heard that they served the "original" Michigan hot dog sauce. The decor is outdated, but we didn't go there for the looks of the place. The waitresses were all smiling and friendly and it wasn't super busy. The menu is pretty huge and we appreciated all the specials. We each had two hot dogs and they were tasty. We usually like our hot dog sauce kicked up a bit but their sauce was very good. I had the mozzarella sticks which were huge and the sauce was great. Hubby had the chicken fried steak and it was huge! I had the macaroni salad which was excellent - I could have eaten way more. We went back for breakfast the next morning. I had the sausage gravy and biscuits with a side of eggs - the sausage gravy was heavenly! Hubby had the pancakes and they were so light and fluffy.
