This little Smyrna gem is located off South Cobb Drive in shopping center across from Jim n Nick's. It's small but you can't miss it. Parking is free. Dine in is small but an option. The indoor decor is simple and nice. I got my food to go. It was ready ahead of the estimated time. I went with the chicken hibachi. It was $3.50 extra for egg fried rice. There is no charge for regular fried rice. I was little annoyed my coworker didn't pay the upcharge. She still got egg in her rice. There are several upcharges with the rice if you add vegetables, a protein, etc. To be honest, that was a first as usually egg and veggies come in the fried rice. The meal came with soup and wonton, salad, hibachi chicken, veggies and rice. The food was good. A little bit more than others for same meal. I will say the restaurant has been referred to me several times. I was looking for higher quality. I was told to try the Chinese dishes instead and would taste what everyone has been saying. It's not bad for the price. Ill try a Chinese dish instead next time. The food and service was good. I was just hyped up and so expected a better culinary experience.

This hidden little gem is becoming more popular everyday. They have the best Chinese food for miles around and some very reasonable prices, especially for lunch. #4 is my go to.

This is our go to spot almost every Friday night. they have some of the best Chinese food in the area. i would definitely recommend this place.

    7.Spicy Basil Fried Rice

I was in the mood for Chinese food and decided to visit one of the go-to spots in the Smyrna area. I walked in the restaurant and ordered takeout, and the service was quick--my meal was ready in about 15 minutes. The portions were generous, with rice packed to the brim and a hefty serving of shrimp, which were deveined (always a plus). However, when it came to flavor, the dish fell short. I ordered the spicy basil rice, but it lacked the basil flavor that the name promises. A couple strands of basil floating through at best. It felt more like I was just eating shrimp and rice, without the kick of spice or herbs. It reminded me of the typical plain fried rice you get at a small, hole-in-the-wall spot. Given the ambiance and price at this restaurant, I expected a bit more. Since spicy basil rice is more of a Thai dish, I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and stick to more traditional Chinese options next time.

Came here on Mother's Day after my shift! My friend treated me to dinner and I am so glad I decided to come here. The menu had so many delicious options to choose from! I ended up ordering the Hibachi Chicken w. Fried rice. You can choose between fried or white rice. The rice is not like the typical fried rice but it is paired perfectly w. Soy sauce or the yummy sauce & whatever meal you choose. The Hibachi meals also come w. Green salad, mixed vegetables and/or clear soup. I picked the clear soup. I placed my order to go but ended up eating a little bit of it because I just couldn't wait to eat! Lol The food was fresh, seasoned well and good portions. The resturant only had a few tables and chairs. Typical for your local Chinese spot. But here it was clean and open. I loved the decorations and the painting on the walls. So far this is my favorite Chinese spot In the area :)

I gave a 4 because the "fried rice" is literally white rice with soy sauce. I thought there would be peas and carrots or at least green onion in the rice. I would have went with white rice if that were the case. I was happy with the Mongolian beef though! I liked that the lunch portion came with a spring roll and soup or a soda. I did the hot and sour soup and like that you have 3 soups to choose from. Customer service was great over the phone and in person. The restaurant was clean and organized. My mom got the kong pao vegetable which I liked more than she did. I'll be back to try more when in town!

(we ordered about 15 min before we arrived so we knew there would likely be a slight wait). While the service was pleasant, there was a slight smell in the restaurant even tho employees were cleaning right before closing. Most importantly the two stars are because the food quality was poor. Chicken was not cooked well (but thankfully not raw), there was not enough seasoning or marinade for chicken (ex: no garlic taste) and very minimal vegetable included in hunan chicken dish which comes with carrots broccolli among other vegetables normally depending on the restaurant. Food was hot when served but half of the portion was brown rice listed as "fried rice" but had no veggies or eggs and also seemed bland. Besides soy it lacked a lot of flavor, and this was disappointing. I hope cuisine improves in future hopefully this was related to ordering near closing time (45 min before) but unfortunately I would not return due to this experience. I wish them the best and service seems like it would be decent, but food quality is priority for me.

Located in the Kroger shopping center at the corner of South Cobb and Concord, next to a Papa Johns and Wing Stop sits this tiny old school Chinese spot. Given the current Covid situation, they are limiting dine-in and have now placed a plexiglass barrier on the counter with a tiny door/opening in which payment/food is passed through. While they have updated a few things to ensure they are keeping folks as safe as possible, they have not updated the wall menu board or the décor in this place opening...but at this point, I feel the outdated and slightly dingy décor adds to the essence of a small mom/pop Chinese spot! Food wise we have sampled multiple things from the menu, but our absolutes are the Pork Egg Roll ($1.25), Wonton Soup ($2.95), Sesame Chicken ($7.95) and the House Lo Mein ($6.95). As you can see, we can get all this for less than $20! And for that $20, we get at least two meals out of each dinner as the portion sizes are true to classic Chinese spots, with either the boxes or plastic containers being filled to the brim! I usually judge a spot by their Wonton Soup, and I treated No. 1 China was no different. Luckily for me they passed the test and their Wonton soup had a base of chicken broth (instead of beef!) and featured a few large stuffed wontons and a small packed bag of crispies! Since they passed this test, I was able to dive in to a few other dishes, mainly the chicken and lo mein. The Sesame Chicken dinner combo comes with fried rice and an egg roll, while the Lo Mein is a stand alone. The Lo Mein is packed with all the meats from chicken, beef, pork to shrimp along with the noodles and veggies. The Sesame Chicken is nothing special, but is mixed sized breaded chicken bites with a gooey sweet sauce. The fried rice is just ok, it doesn't come with a bunch of veggies in it, but it is a basic fried rice that hits the spot as a side. Service here is decent, they have always been very friendly on the phone and in store. Sadly they do not offer delivery of any sort, so I usually call my order ahead and go pick it up. I will recommend you make this habit as well, as walking in to order and wait can create a long wait time, as they get a lot of call in orders! With that, they always quote about 20 minutes for pick up time...add 15 to whatever they quote you. I have legit never arrived to find my order ready or to an empty lobby. They are always busy, so be prepared to be patient! Overall, this is a go-to spot for us for quick service, tasty and cheap Chinese food. It may not be the best in the city, but it hits the spot time after time!

Since I wasn't in the mood to sit down and eat, I went ahead and placed a call-ahead order for their House Lo Mein along with an order of fried chicken wings. The restaurant itself is fairly spacious with a nice, welcoming atmosphere once you step inside. The décor gives off a classic Chinese restaurant vibe that feels comfortable and relaxing. Parking, however, is a bit of a mixed bag. The spots right in front of the building are limited, so I ended up using the extended parking lot, which was a little dark and had that slightly eerie feeling at night -- nothing too wild or dangerous, but definitely not the most well-lit area I've seen. When I arrived to pick up my order, I was pleasantly greeted right at the door by the staff, who provided genuinely friendly and efficient customer service. That warm welcome made the whole pickup process smooth and quick. Once I got back to my hotel room and finally dug into the food, I have to say the House Lo Mein was prepared with fresh ingredients and good quality noodles and vegetables. It wasn't the most outstanding lo mein I've ever tasted in my life -- I've had versions that were more flavorful and better seasoned -- but it certainly wasn't the worst either. I'd honestly describe it as pretty mid-tier: solid, reliable, and worth what I paid for it on that particular evening. The fried chicken wings, on the other hand, really stood out to me. They were extra crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and actually had some noticeable flavor and seasoning, which made them quite enjoyable. All in all, it was a decent and satisfying meal that hit the spot after a tiring day. The portions were generous enough, and the value felt reasonable. I could definitely see myself returning to The Orient sometime in the future if I find myself back in the area and in need of a quick Chinese takeout option. That said, with plenty of other restaurants nearby that offer more affordable prices and bolder flavors, it probably wouldn't be my absolute first choice the next time I'm craving something similar. Still, if you're looking for a convenient, no-fuss spot with friendly service and consistently okay-to-good food, The Orient is worth considering.

It was so fresh and delicious. It's a little hard to eat, but totally worth the effort. We also had a Sheldon room with spicy tuna, and it was square instead of the regular roll, and we really enjoyed that one, too.
