Just right after long trip from states. Recommended by our tour guide. Close to hotel quick easy order hot food and we are done back to hotel to recover fm jet lag. Very popular with take out crowd.

I suppose you can't go to London without getting fish and chips. This was near where I am staying so I grabbed it the night before I left. All the food was already cooked and sitting under a heat lamp. I ordered a cod and regular chips. It was a huge piece of fish and plenty of chips. I didn't finish either so I'm glad I didn't get a larger chips. It was very crisp on the outside and tasty on the inside. The chips were just chips, nothing I'd go back for on their own. But it made a fine meal.

I came here for a quick first meal after landing in London. I came to this place because it was close to where I was staying. They had different fish from which to choose. I went with cod. Everything was already cooked and sitting under a heat lamp, so shortly after paying, I was taking it back to my room to eat. I'm not particularly fond of greasy food, but it's good to have every once in a while.

My husband and I split a cod and chips, and it was more than enough food for the two of us. We ordered it for take away and our food was prepared quickly, and on top of that it was very affordable. Not a bad spot if you're in the area.

I just devoured an entire cod fish & chips order. Possibly the best I've ever had here in London. The fish was huge--golden & crispy on the outside; moist & flaky on the inside. The chips were thick cut & cooked perfectly. I ordered it for takeaway, and asked for ketchup & tarter sauce. Unlike most places that skimp on condiments, the guy put enough in the bag without having to ask for more. They do use packaged condiments, but they were perfectly fine. I would definitely be back if I stay in this neighborhood again for my fish Friday!

Cod fish filet was an ample portion for 10 GBP

At the recommendation of our Hilton Paddington concierge, I ordered the cod fish and chips at Micky's Fish Bar two blocks from the Hotel and Paddington Station. Eat in is about 2 GBP more than to simply order To-Go. We elected to eat at the table. This place is not a British Pub, just a plain order counter and Formica tables. Not much ambiance, service was adequate and helpful. For about 10 GBP the order was a large single filet of fried cod and French Fries. It was fine, but the fish skin was left intact on the battered filet. Some may enjoy that, I am not a fan of fish skin and easily cut the white fish filet from the skin. As a tourist to London, next time I'll simply head to one of many many local British Pubs in the vicinity.

Fish & chips takeaway - yummy! Golden & crispy.

I was staying nearby while on holiday with a craving for fish. Micky's was a great find. First off, we were warmly welcomed by the staff at the counter. Fish & other food is right there to see. My adult daughter was with me: we ordered 3 fish & chips (see photo) for takeaway. Service was quick - and helpful: for instance, we wanted two with vinegar, one without (my wife is not a fan on vinegar). That box was marked so we wouldn't mix up the 3. Back at the hotel - well, the flavour was amazing, including the chips. I ate EVERY bit - which is rare. Even finished what my wife couldn't consume! All 3 of us agree - definitely a place to visit again the next time we are in London.

It took me a while to get to Micky's because it's located all the way out in Paddington... not very central. Due to the long ride there, my expectations got higher but I was quickly surprised by how grungy the place looks. It's actually more like a stall, where there's a bar to serve food and several little tables to eat. It's not the place to impress guests or to sit down for a while. But for the inexpensive price, the food was not that bad. You get a big piece of fish and it was delicious, but you don't much else. Tartar sauce is served in a little Heinz packet, which kinds of makes the food seem like fast-food fish. Quality fast-food fish. Just keep your expectations in check... this is something quick and easy so if you're in the area and want to get something fast but good, it would be fun to swing by.

    Take out menu

After a long flight, we found this little Paddington neighborhood hot spot. Great fish and chips. Fresh, flaky, crispy. Chips were hot and fresh. None of it was greasy.

After a rather disappointing experience at the Garfunkles just around the corner, I decided that I would go and check out some other place to have a bite to eat. Despite there being a few options around Paddington I decided that the best option at this time would be a traditional English fish and chip shop. Okay, I had had plenty of fish and chips in the various hotels that I had visited but I was really interested in seeing what their basic fish and chip shop was all about. As it turned out it wasn't bad, though it certainly wasn't like any of the fish and chip shops that I have experienced in Australia. Sure, they have takeaway, but not to the extent that that have at home. Rather it was more of a sit down restaurant that specialised in fish and chips. In the end it wasn't bad - not fantastic, but not bad either.

I saw a recommendation for Golden Union, and so we made our way over there for lunch towards the latter half of our trip. The place itself is unsuspecting but ended up being actually very cute when we went inside. The neon signs and vintage furniture make it feel cozy. The staff themselves were also very welcoming. We sat down and were handed menus and waters. I decided to split the haddock and chips with my friend while my other friends got their own portion of cod and chips. Everything was pricey, but it is London. The waitress was also very engaging and friendly since she noticed we were tourists and also helped one of my friends with his journey to try British tea for the first time. Overall, she was so sweet. Despite not having crazy high expectations, the haddock and chips was incredible. The fish was soft, and the chips were fresh and not oily at all. It felt very fresh, and I finished my portion feeling very satisfied. My friends let me try their cod, and the cod was also fantastic--very buttery. The haddock is definitely my favorite though. I was fortunate to come here just before it was peak dinner time and I did see a lot of people waiting. If you look to come here at usually meal times, be ready for a wait! What Is great about this establishment is that they have many options for your fish in case you are craving something in particular. With it being my first time here, I was looking to try either the Haddock or Cod, and decided on the Haddock. Once I received my fish and chips, I was ready to eat and wow the fish was so good and well fried. I tasted how good the fried batter was while all the flavor of the fish was still inside! I could eat this fried fish all day! The batter had the flakiness to it which added a nice texture. As for the chips (fries), I will say that they were average and nothing too special. However, keep that appetite for the fish! Make sure you finish that! Service itself was pretty fast and prompt. They definitely look to get your food quickly so you can enjoy your meal so they can accommodate as many people as possible.
