Its my first time I have visited this store and I am a big fan now.... such a cool place to be.... I can spend hours here. I purchased an AMD six core here and at a price of $89.99 its the best deal I can get. Folks working here know stuff, u ask them and u get the answer in a flash. You definitely get stuff online but with the price match if you get your preferred brand without waiting for the shipping its the best deal. Thank goodness for Microcenter, an electronic oasis in a desert of electronic madness. This place is so much superior to Best Buy it's not even funny IMO. The sales associates are highly knowledgeable, there are a few guys I remember seeing working there when they were on Lane Avenue in the 80's so they've been around for a while. Even if you consider yourself a techie there's a good chance the sales guy you're speaking with here may actually know more than you do (I consider myself very knowledgeable about computers and I've talked "nerd talk" a bunch with these guys and they are SMART) And best yet, when you look towards one they actually walk forward and ask you if you have any questions, unlike at Best Buy where if you look at someone who works there they practically run the other direction (most of the time anyways). You won't find that here at Microcenter, they must pay their employees pretty well and train them well because they are eager to help and they know their stuff... So you're thinking, well that's great but I like the prices at Best Buy. This place with the great customer service probably is more expensive right??? Well guess what, Microcenter will always beat Best Buy on price from my experiences. Not only do they beat their prices but they will match them if they don't. They also have great sales on clearance items, refurb items and just simply slightly dinged items as well so if you're looking for a bargain then this is the place to go. Another clear and remarkable difference from Best Buy is the large selection and parts you will find for your computer here. For example, Best Buy may have 3 different kinds of power supplies and Microcenter will have 23 different kinds. And for small, gadget type cords, cables and the like you will find them here and Best Buy often will not have them. And even better yet they won't charge you a laughable fee for the cord/cable either like Best Buy does, instead of $30 or such you will probably pay $5 or less. So yes you can order off of the internet but if you need a computer part now you will not want to wait and this is your go to store since Radio Shack went out of business (wait, please don't tell me you patronized Radio Shack???!! NooOoOooo)... I don't know what else I can say to convince you that this place is the best place to go for all of your computer needs but just check it out for yourself and you will see what I mean. Microcenter is the cheapest, best staffed, most knowledgeable and widest selection of computer and computer accessories you will find anywhere, short of driving to Texas or California to visit Fry's computer (another sterling business that I love from my time in Texas).... Microcenter is a big computer store. Probably the size of a Kmart, but all computer parts. However, whereas CompUSA walked down the doomed path of going as consumer as possible and stopped carrying anything useful, Microcenter continues to keep getting more and more odd parts to fit anything you need. They even have individual electronic components like resistors and odder items like heat shrink tubing- stuff you'd normally have to order online since Radioshack (I mean The Shack) has just become a cell phone accessory store. They have a great book/magazine selection and all of their employees are very useful. This is one of the better Microcenters I've been to. The one in Cambridge, MA on Memorial Drive is smaller and feels kinda beat up compared to this one. read more

If you're a college student, don't shop here. The sales people will avoid you like the plague. I needed a laptop so I stood in the laptop area while the salespeople approached another's that had been waiting for less time. When I finally left the department and went to find help, the salesperson who helped me was incredibly rude. I am a junior in an honors program at osu and I worked for 3 years in electronic retail and this guy talked to me like I had never touched a computer in my life! This place is great. I always get outstanding customer service. Their warranties are actually worth getting because they are not third party like most places, they actually do everything warranty wise in house. No deductible, no third party phone number to call. No other business have I ever been to is as trouble free about returns. No one! No third degree, no endless questions, no rejections. I used to do some of my shopping on newegg, but one time I received 2 DOA motherboards back to back. Had to pay for shipping back to newegg twice then they charged me a restocking fee when I didn't want it!! I spent 40 total on not buying the dang motherboard. I also had a bad experience getting some gear on amazon recently. I give up! They will continue to get my business. You never wait in line that long even when it is lengthy. They have more registers open than Wal-Mart, but then again, who doesn't. The manager always stops to say thank you at the registers. Truly top notch. In a market that is heavily .com, they know how to stay relevant as a brick and mortar store. Kudos!! Love this place!!! Update: 2 years ago I bought a $1k video card (GTX 690). It began having constant driver problems which I could not fix. I was past my manufacturers warranty. I knew I bought a Microcenter warranty when I purchased it. This place never fails to deliver. I try to always do my computer and accessory business with them ever since 1996. They always have a great selection, price range, and very knowledgeable staff. Sure, on occasion you're going to get the new guy, or a grumpy person, but just find another rep. You're bound to find someone very helpful. They're never pushy which is important when you don't know everything to lookout for. I will always do business with them for this reason... their return policy is awesome. If you're not satisfied with something, bring it back with your receipt and all of the packaging within 2 weeks, and you can exchange OR get your money back. I bought a new laptop today as a clearance/ refurbished item, about 25% off of the original price. He said it actually qualified for a lower price because the sticker price was wrong. Ya gotta love honesty. It was discounted and additional 10% so I jumped on it. When I got it home, the screen just flashed blue and black. I took it back and found my original salesperson, Travis. I wanted to get a new one this time so he helped me weigh my options and I selected a better model. They offered me the same dollar amount off (the additional 10%) that I got from the first laptop, just for my troubles. THIS IS WHY I DO BUSINESS WITH THEM. I literally have never left a review but I feel I should warn you all- DO NOT GO HERE FOR REPAIRS!!! I came here because it was closer than the apple store and they claim to be affiliated with apple and be able to fix apple products. I had ONE key causing problems on my keyboard, so I brought it in. They took it for over a week and informed me I had to pay several hundred dollars because they had to replace "everything but the screen" since apple doesn't do "part by part". I believed them. Immediately after the repair was FINALLY complete, my computer actually stops working- the power won't stay on even when plugged in, so I go back to the micro center assuming they've given me a bad part. They tell me I have a warranty and take my computer (also important to note they DONT do computer rentals while they confiscate your laptop for weeks at a time) then text me five days later that they need $600 to fix a part of my computer THEY LITERALLY REPLACED. such a scam, I would avoid them and just go to the actual apple store for repairs. read more

Took my laptop in for a repair. I was assured by no less than four people that it was under warranty.....after a month of waiting, now they say it is not under warranty. They did not even bother to call me, I had to call them and find this out. I regret the time I wasted dealing with them; they insisted they had verified the warranty in the beginning, when, in fact, it was a trick. I went in to buy a gaming computer and wanted the cyberpowerpc. The salesman showed me the cyberpower and one of theirs and did a comparison with me. He helped me not only chose this cyberpower, but he also got me an antivirus. He made sure I had everything I needed before we left the store. As we were checking out, the store manager came up to me and gave me her business card. Said if there was anything we needed or had questions on, to please contact her and she would make sure all our needs were met even after we left the store. I went in to see if I could get my iPhone X charger port fixed because it hasn't been working for awhile. The repair guy said they only replace batteries and screens but that he would take it back to the technician anyways. The technician cleaned it free-of-charge and now it works like a charm! Avoid at all cost, I'm here at the California location. They have the worst customer service ever, I've spent a total of 5 hours on hold and I've been waiting 1 hour on there web customer chat which said I'm the only person in line..... I bought their insurance for my laptop and it broke after I dropped it and severely damaged it. I was hoping they could repair or replace fairly quickly. The salesman behind the counter said t looks like a replace due to the damage, but they couldn't replace it till they had two serviceman sign off on it. So I asked if I could purchase a laptop now and use the store credit later to pay it back. They agreed and I bought my new laptop and left. They called and said they would rather repair it and I'd have to wait. So I returned the new laptop. They said they are hoping they could get the parts the next day and have it done within a day but no guarantees which I understand. But 1 days goes by and nothing then 2,3,4,5,6 days go by and finally my laptop is done, but I already had to miss out on work for a week because my laptop. I finally get my laptop and get in the car only to find it still doesn't work, I took it back in minutes later and now they want to keep it some more. AVOID! I have been a long time loyal customer of Micro Center, but that is NOT the case anymore. On Mar 3, 2015, I went to the Micro Center store located in Duluth, Ga. to return an item that was mistakenly given to me when I picked up a web order. THIS WAS THE BIGGEST MISTAKE I HAVE MADE IN MY LIFE! Because of this mistake, I was left humiliated, threaten, and discriminated against. I have been doing business with Micro Center 2010, and last year alone I personally have given Micro Center over $80,000 in business. But judging by the visit I had during my last visit to the Duluth Micro Center store, they [Micro Center and their managers] DO NOT appreciate my business. While waiting at customer service to return this item that I mistakenly given, the store manager of the Duluth, Georgia location came out, said "Here is your 'Correct' item, now you have it, now GET THE HELL OUT OF MY STORE," all of this was yelled at me, in front of numerous customers and the entire front end staff. And continued to go on and say "I and all of my brothers are now banned from all Micro Center Stores, and if I or any of my brothers attempt to visit the other Micro Center Location [Marietta, GA. Location] we will be 'ARRESTED' and charged with trespassing." Again, all of this said out loud in front of numerous customers, and all staff. He then continued to say after I asked, Why? What is the problem?, that the reason is "excessive coupon use." and then continued to say "I hope all those coupons where worth it, because NOW YOU [referring to me, my brothers, and my business] are all BANNED..." I have never been so humiliated, belittled, and threaten in my life! And all for what? Because we used coupons? The proper way to notify me was to take me aside and calmly and respectfully explained the issue and what needed to happen to rectify the issue, but NOT bring this manner to the public forum and humiliating me in front of the entire store. All the purchases made with the coupons were approved by management at both locations, I submitted the orders through microcenter.com and picked everything up in their retail locations, where I paid for them upon pickup of these products. If there was an issue with using these coupons, then the store managers, should have NOT allowed me to pick up the product, instead they came over and did their usual and THANKED ME. And now, when I went back to return an item that was mistakenly given to me, I get, DO NOT COME BACK or YOU WILL BE ARRESTED? Where is the customer service in that? Where are the manners in that? Why am I being discriminated against? All that was done here was coupons were used to purchase product, which was picked up and paid for in person... where the management had ample opportunity to cancel or deny the product. But no such concern was expressed by any member of management at either the Duluth, GA or Marietta, GA location, or Micro Center Corporate office. It is also important to note that the coupons that were used were obtained through valid means, and the coupons itself did not have any fine type that prohibited the use of the coupon, either on dollar amount of the number of uses. Micro Center should have blocked these coupons on their website if they were such a problem, but NOT allowed [or maybe instructed] this manager to treat me in this manner. Why did not Micro Center block this coupon or put in place restrictions on its use? Why did Micro Center Corporate allow their store manager to slander my name in a public forum? Is this the practice of Micro Center to allow their members of management to humiliate and threaten their customers? Is doing business with Micro Center in the amount of over $80,000 not enough to gain respect? If I and my business matter to you [Micro Center] then please contact me and lets work this out, and come to a resolution so I can continue to do regular business with you [Micro Center]. read more

Took my computer to be fixed, they told me it would take 6 days to get a diagnostic update. It took 8 and they only contacted me after I called to check in. They said my computer would need new hardware and would cost $400. I took my computer to apple and all my issues were fixed after apple replaced a stuck key on my keyboard. Do not take apple products here-just take it to Apple or Best Buy because these technicians do not do a good job and also only want your money. read more

Columbus is very lucky to have a microcenter inside 270. These stores reign over other "computer" box stores hands down. The prices here will beat anything you'll ever find at a best buy, circuit city, etc... It even beats out a lot of online prices. The store is divided into specialty sections, such as BYOPC, Home Theatre, Gaming, Books. If you can't find it, they keep a fairly good staff to ask (although try and know what you want before you go, they are salesman after all). If you're going for specific hardware such as CPUs, make sure to call and find their stock, I remember them being out of a core 2 duo when I assembled my last computer (ended up ordering off of new egg). They have a credit card system, my wife and I were approved for a hefty $3k credit line. Unfortunately we just received word in the mail that they are switching providers and our card will no longer be valid after July 1st. read more

If you do, then you may find yourself adrift at Micro Center. First, the good. They really do have it all. If you're a PC gamer, then you won't feel out of place here. These are some of the best prices around on things you need. Forget Best Buy. They look like some overpriced gas station compared with Micro Center. But the customer service is seriously second rate, especially if you're female. If you're a girl that happens to not know a whole lot about tech in general, or is good at acting like she doesn't, they'll probably help you the best they can. But if you're a girl that knows her way around the inside of a computer, you will find a very different experience. As my partner and I browsed the gaming keyboards, two very unhappy male sales associates worked busily behind us in icy silence. Their little faces were frozen in a kind of sullen pout, as if to mutter, "girls...not allowed...shouldn't be here. Boy...toys." Walk further along in the store and you'll see the same male sales associates in animated conversation with their male customers and colleagues, smiling and blushing. But ladies, instead of saying that we should know our place in Man-Town, I'll encourage you to go in. Shop. Ask them tough questions. Make them have to think. Show that you know what you're talking about. If they really can't stand it, maybe they'll quit, and Micro Center will be forced to hire sales staff that won't feel so threatened by your knowledge, your expertise, and your vagina. read more

Short and simple, these guys are a more detailed version of best buy except with more very polite and professional employees. I bought a battery pack that was their store brand and got a free 3 year warranty on it! They asked for my name and email and told me if I ever wanted to return it on warranty I wouldn't even need my receipt and they could just pull it up when I came. ASTOUNDING! I normally do not write reviews but I have to let everyone know about my experience!! I had purchased a Nikon camera 2 years ago from Microcenter and also bought the extended warranty. Well it stopped working so I took it back to the store for a replacement. I waited in line for maybe 5 minutes and when it was my turn I told the associate what was wrong. And without even looking at the camera, told me to go pick out another one to exchange it out. Yeah!!! Get back to the camera department and there were no sales clerks at all!! So I looked around and found a clearanced Sony 3d camera cheap! Score!! So I went back up to customer service and was promptly taken care of! I get home and open the box and it was a different camera than what was on the box!!! I tried calling the number on the reciept and got nowhere. It seems that their phone system is just a bunch of prerecorded messages telling you to go to the store or website! So I googled the Corprate office of microcenter. Which happens to be on Leap RD in Hilliard, ohio! So I called and was dealing with consumer relations, I told them I didn't want a refund, I wanted the camera that was on the box. Not the camera I received. Fast forward 2 weeks later and I still don't have the camera I Supposedly purchased! finally I dealt with the store manager and he told me to pick out the current model of the camera or the step up if they didn't have the current model. The idiot back in the camera department tried to get me to pick some low end camera. The camera I bought was a $400 camera and this kid is trying to get me to pick one for $100 telling me its just as good! I did my research so I knew what was comparable so I walked away from this kid and went back up to customer service. Long story short, the camera I wanted was not in stock so the manager transferred it in from Chicago! I have to say it was a huge mess but in the end Microcenter went out of their way to make it right with me. ok, I would have given 1 star for service, but it's gets three for their price matching. My girlfriends stops in to buy a 1 terabyte external hard drive. She sees a toshiba drive on sale, so she grabs it. She then asks a sales guy what's the difference between "this drive and that drive". Now I'm sure everyone has experienced what happens next, whether you are at Best Buy or Microcenter. He proceeds to grab the boxes, read them both over, then provide a very vague response. He says they're the same, except this one looks different, has different software and gets returned more. So with that stellar explanation, my girlfriends gets a toshiba drive, with a commission sticker placed on it of course because he provided such excellent service. Well needless to say, the drive doesn't work and isn't recognized. Now my girlfriend should have done some research before she headed off to microcenter, as she googles the drive and discovers it has issues with Mac with Lion running on it. So we proceed to return it and run into the same guy. I'm using my iphone to read reviews on western digital drives and seagate drives. He's hovering around, not offering any thoughts or advice (probably better that way), hoping to put his sticker on our exchange drive. The only thing he says is "I'm not going to recommend these anymore, they get returned all the time". WHY THE HELL DIDN'T YOU SAY THAT THE FIRST TIME YOU JACKWAD!!! After he wandered off tired of waiting for us to make a decision, we picked a western digital drive that has some really good reviews on newegg. We stealthily make our way to the register to avoid his commission sticker. It may be a little mean, but in all honesty, did he put any effort into the sale? Now here's why I'm giving them 3 stars. Their price match policy. Microcenter will price match newegg.com and bestbuy.com websites. So the western digital drive was priced at $200. I found it brand new on newegg.com, using my redlaser scanning app, for $130! $70 off ... score! So before you head to microcenter, research what you want, get your smartphone ready, and have fun with their price matching policy. read more

This isn't the best Micro Center I've been to (that one is down by Cincinnati), but it's pretty decent. I find its organization scheme a little jumbled and confusing, but the staff is so friendly and willing to help I'm willing to overlook that because they'll point you in the right direction. I had my first Micro Center experience pretty recently, and I have to say that I loved what I saw when I walked in. I like my fair share of nerd things, and this place was a bit like nerd paradise. My task was pretty simply to get a new power cord for my Mac, and I found the store to be pretty easy to navigate in terms of finding that section. I prefer not to have associates all up on me when I'm perusing in stores, and the folks working here did a good job of being present and accessible without being crowding. All in all, it was a successful venture, and I see myself going back there in the future. read more

Prior to my experience today I would have recommend this store above every other electronics store in town. After today's visit I will never be returning. We placed and online order on Monday (intending to pick it up this weekend) for a television and PAID for the merchandise. I received the first email detailing my order and letting me know where to pick-up in the store and what pieces of ID I was required to have when I arrived. I received a second email later in the week with the subject "Don't forget your in-store pick-up", duh, I paid $999 for the TV, I'm not going to forget it. I never even opened this email. I received a third and final email with my receipt at some point later in the week and I printed it out to bring with me when I went to collect the TV. We arrived this afternoon to collect the TV. I presented my receipt and he went looking for the TV. They didn't have it. He looked at the receipt and said, Oh, sorry we no longer have that in holding, we only hold items for four days. WE PAID FOR THE TV! Apparently Micro Center automatically returns the merchandise that you already bought and paid for if you do not collect it within four days. Of course this television was no longer available and the only one they still had in store was being held for another online purchase/in-store pick-up. They of course were all too happy to recommend to us a lesser quality TV that they still had in stock. I believe that is called a Bait and Switch which is actually illegal. So here we stood with about $300 worth of additional merchandise that we were about to purchase and the item that we arrived to pick-up, that was already PAID FOR was gone. We walked out without purchasing anything and will absolutely never be returning. With the availability of practically anything you desire online, brick and mortar stores really need to focus on their customer service and convenience. Aside from the fact that we were extremely displeased (and that's putting it lightly) with the fact that they resold the television we had already PAID FOR, we had driven 40 minutes from the East side all the way over the Bethel Rd. in a Level 2 Snow Emergency, We were additionally upset by losing our afternoon to go on a wild goose chase. We typically try to patronize local business to help the local economy but after this debacle we will be purchasing all of our electronics online and have them conveniently delivered to our door. In addition we will also be contacting the Better Business Bureau to apprise them of Micro Center's business practices, considering we feel that what they are doing is unethical. Oh, and that second email I mentioned, the one I never opened, it did say in small print at the very bottom of the email that they would only hold our merchandise through the end of the day, Thursday. The poor cashier who bore our wrath even said that this kind of thing happens frequently because no one ever sees that bit of information. How convenient for Micro Center. Update- After contacting the BBB, MicroCenter immediately felt my complaint was valid. In fact they were so interested in making it right that they suddenly had the TV we originally purchased available again. Plus, they were even willing to FedEx it directly to my house at no cost to me. Color me impressed even if slightly suspicious. Anyway, it wasn't convenient for me to be at the house when FedEx would have delivered so we ended up planning to pick up the TV in store anyway. We did let them know were very appreciative of the offer. We paid the original price we planned upon and all was well. So if you take the time to lodge your complaint to the BBB they will take you seriously and help you come to a decision that makes everyone involved happy. I wish they would take it upon themselves to have good enough customer service to make it right without going through those channels but whatever. I'm happy, I got what I wanted and we'll still shop at MicroCenter. read more

Micro Center is amazing! For years, I drove past it and didn't go in because from the outside it looks kind of like a relic from the late 80s or early 90s. Finally, though, I saw a great laptop deal in one of their flyers and went to check it out. The place is great, a geek's paradise. It has every last thing you could want for your computer, at prices far, far better than the big chains. For example, I had just paid $16 for a new keyboard at Staples (their cheapest one) -- then I at Micro Center they had keyboards for under five bucks! I also needed some desktop RAM -- Best Buy charged about $80 for what I wanted; Micro Center had it for under $50. The salesman was slightly pushy, maybe, but no moreso than the sales people at Best Buy, etc. -- and unlike most of them, he actually knew what he was talking about and actually was pushing good deals. Came here looking for a few things for the office- there are employees there to help all over the place- very informative and knowledgable about their "areas." They will also price match (as well as help search for the best match price!) Plenty of variety of brands etc. read more

They are the best. As a geek, these guys are geeks. I am not nuts about the laptop/tablet or Apple sales areas (they don't have a lot of inventory out for demo, and the staff can be dismissive and pushy), but the he prices and knowledge of the staff in the hobby and DYI sections are phenomenal, and they are not always trying to sell you the item that makes the most commission.
