    So many options!

Well, I was pleasantly surprised! A friend of mine recommended this buffet, and we went for lunch. It is an enormous restaurant with tons of seating, so no reservations are necessary outside of holidays. The service is very fast. Staff comes by to clear plates, provide drinks, bring utensils, etc. They are constantly moving and work really hard Ambience is nothing special. It kind of looks like a boring diner inside. It looked clean to me and very spacious. Now, for the food. It was great. They have several sections set up, including Asian cuisine like sushi, dumplings, Chinese dishes, etc. They also have some Italian options, kid friendly options, soups, and a hibachi grill area. Everything I tasted, was good to great. I really liked the dim sum and the dumplings, broccoli chicken, and chicken skewers. There is something for everyone. Also they have dessert. Soft serve ice cream and a bunch of yummy cookies. I would recommend it and I will be back!

Was attended to right away when I walked in. Got seated immediately. Got busier as the evening went on. The chicken entrees were good. The beef was hard to chew. The hot and sour soup was good. They have sushi and Mongolian (make your own, they cook). They seemed attentive and always cleared the plates when you're done. They move fast though. If you want something better ask quick lol. Will be back.

I love me some Chinese food... I have been coming here for years and I think this is a good spot. The food is good. It seems to always be busy when I come so they are always refilling the food which I think in my opinion is a good thing. I think they have a great selection of foods. I always try to go before 3pm because it's cheaper. I believe it's about $8 bucks.. then after lunch it's about $13 bucks. The bald guy who's always in the front as you walk in is always nice to me and my family and chats with us for a bit before we sit down. The staff is alright. They do their job. The lady who refills the food does not care if you're in the way lol; she'll make sure you know to get the hell out. Definitely better than other Chinese restaurants I have been to.

I love that they have soft serve ice cream, but you should skip the small bowls and go straight for the soup bowls.

It appears that they do a lot of takeout, as there were only three tables inside the restaurant. It's obviously a family run place, because of one of the children was playing with their toys off in a corner of the kitchen. I decided to go for the shrimp toast, appetizer, and the lunch, special of shrimp and lobster sauce with vegetable fried rice, and wonton soup. The food came quick, and it was absolutely amazing. The shrimp toast was crunchy, and had a lot of filling in it. You could definitely taste the shrimp. There were six of them in the appetizer, which was very generous for the price. I was going to take a few home with me, but I couldn't stop eating them. I finished off the whole appetizer. I loved the shrimp in lobster sauce. At first, I was confused, because it was like an egg drop soup with shrimp in it. I thought it was going to be a Brown sauce. Then I realized, that's what lobster sauce is I was confusing lobster sauce with oyster sauce. The soup was creamy, rich, and delicious. There were "only" four shrimp in the bowl. I say "only" because those shrimp were huge! They were tender and delicious, and a very generous portion. The fried rice had a good flavor to it as well the rice was not under or overdone, and they were generous with the veggies.. I ended up taking home some of my shrimp main dish, and all of my wonton soup. The wonton soup reheated, wonderfully, the broth was delicious, and the wontons were tender. With a large amount of delicious filling. The price for everything was absolutely reasonable. I would come back in a heartbeat. Thank you!

It's obviously an unusual choice for James Beard America's Classic to be mostly take-out only, with dine-in only for dinner a few nights a week (most of which are buffet). And some of the myriad online debates about this place say that maybe it's about community and history more than food. In any case, I did really enjoy the egg roll and shrimp chow fun. I don't have much grounds for comparison for egg rolls, but they were fresh-fried without being too oily, and had a nice contrast in the pickled filling. The shrimp chow fun--which my companion was excited was on the menu, as it's especially old-school--was cooked perfectly and wasn't too crazy salty. I wasn't as blown away by the pork fried rice (which seemed maybe more darkened by sauce than by frying) or the chicken with string beans (with the string beans not being as charred as I'd expect).

What had happened was, thanks to hubs, he found Kingston Wok located in one of the many plazas on Ulster Ave in Kingston. Despite its strip small location, inside, looks anything but. The frontal has a bar area and is decked out with large plants. Their flaming red+black dining room hits you hard with lantern lamps giving out a nice glow to the already dim area. Hubs enjoyed his dumpling soup and charred pork ribs as he requested and pork fried rice. The fried wonton strips were divine+fresh tasting and my Thai Chili crispy red snapper fillet, was more than I could chew. But it was also busy. And while the sauce on the fish had a subtle heat, it was a gloppy heap of it. What's more, I was about to reheat my leftovers and actually noticed the red dye sauce at home. It was a turn-off. We'll return- but I'll go for non-saucy menu items next time. Our server was fast on his feet though and my Lychee Martini had nice strength.
