Had dinner here last Friday evening, the food was really great, but the service was terrible. Had a person take my order and waited a good 25 minutes for my food, they never once came back to ask if we needed anything like more crispy noodles. Once the food came we loved it but they never came back to ask how the meal was and once we were done, it took me 20 minutes to get the waitress to bring us containers for our food and s check, she past by us 20 times seating people and taking their orders but would not come by us to help us, I had to flag her down to get the check! First off - the food is delicious. However the service is so poor it's painful. Just left after eating lunch and we did not get chopsticks for our sushi, water refill (even after requested), a second beer (after requested), or fortune cookies with our bill. So I have been here twice, the food is amazing, fresh, well prepared and very authentic Chinese food. Having eaten in both Taiwan and Hong Kong I know the difference and this place is spot on. Now of course they have American Chinese for the American pallet but there are some dishes that are purely Chinese and they do these very well. If I want Chinese food I'm coming here. The bad part and why no 5 star. Service needs to improve one of the waitress can't understand English and the other disappears for long periods I'm sure there is a reason but I'm there to be taken care of and served. After hearing some positive words about this restaurant, our family decided to go last Saturday night at about 7. If there was an evening rush , it was over before we got there. The inside is clean with a pleasant decor. We placed our orders and waited for our meals. And waited, and waited... Finally, my son who ordered sushi, received his food. We were told that the food for the 5 of us would be out shortly. After 14 minutes, she came out with 3 platters. So where were the other two dinners? Few minutes, she said. Oh boy! Since when is 8 minutes considered a "few." So out came the food but it was only one meal. "One minute" for the last meal she said. Actually it was 3 minutes until the last dinner arrived at our table. So if I confused you, let me sum this up. It took 25 minutes for the waitress to bring 6 meals to our table at different times. We live about a mile from C Gourmet. It used to be our favorite Chinese restaurant, but then the chef won the lottery and never came back. Since then, they've expanded a bunch but the quality of food has never been as good. They just recently dropped their delivery minimum from $30 to $20, which is about how much we pay when we order elsewhere. So, we were excited. We ordered 4 appetizers, a small rice, a small lo mein and one entree. With tip it was SIXTY-SIX DOLLARS!!?? And it was not $66 in quality or quantity. The food was fresh but totally under seasoned and devoid of creativity. And unlike most Chinese food, the leftovers didn't taste better the next day. Instead, they had turned rubbery and even more bland. Definitely an overpriced and underwhelming experience. read more

It's good Chinese for Kingston. I've gotten take out from there time and time again but recently, the family ate in. It was really tasty food with fast service. They have a really good sushi bar as well. The cool thing is that the manager saw me with my Wo Hop t-shirt on and said "You're a Chinatown guy, huh?" I nodded with a smile and he said "We can make custom Chinese dishes at request. Give us 2 days in advance and we'll get the supplies from the city." That's what I'm talking about... Absent service, no one was eating there besides myself and two friends. I did the all you can eat sushi and didnt receive wasabi or ginger on both rounds that I ate. I asked for the wasabi twice and when I received it, it didnt have a kick to it at all. I was better off not asking for the wasabi. Went here for the all you can eat sushi. If it's all you can eat, then why does the waitress who barely understands english says you can only order a few rolls? They also ram down your throat that if you don't eat all of your food you have to pay extra. What kind of crap is that? I ordered a roll that tasted like the tuna was frozen and not thawed out. Sushi was bland and I'm not sure there was any real salmon in my sushi, it tasted very strange. Service was slow, waiters disappear. They started vacuuming while we were waiting for our food- it was only 4pm. I asked if they could switch the shrimp for salmon on the tempura roll because I'm allergic to shrimp and they gave some lame excuse for why they couldn't do it. I can only speak for the All-You-Can-Eat fare in this review. This was by far the worst dining experience of my life. All of the Chinese options that we ordered were clearly frozen and reheated in the microwave or a deep fryer. The sushi was frozen as well. My salmon sashimi was still frozen in the middle! I had tobiko sushi which was definitely spoiled: I had to wash it down with water as I gagged and almost threw up. The egg drop soup had no flavor and tasted simply like a raw, warm egg yolk. The worst part is that you have to pay for whatever you don't eat! The wait staff was friendly and understanding when I could not finish the rancid soup and didn't charge me for it. They were the only positive part of this experience. Please, if you're in the area, skip over this place. For All-You-Can-Eat, check out Oyummy down the street or for regular sushi, go to Kodomo near Marshalls. read more

Combination Chinese and Sushi place. I'll rate each one separately because they are certainly different animals. Before I get into the actual menu items I'll talk about the establishment itself. I eat here frequently for take out and occasionally for sit down. It's a very comfortable, clean well decorated place. Take out is always timely. The staff is always friendly and accommodating. They also have a thing called "spot on". I have an iphone app for it but you can also use a little key chain card they supply. Basically after 5 visits you get $5 off, after 10 you get $10 off. Now the food. To me the best Chinese food in Kingston. Their deep fried dishes like sesame chicken, fried wontons ect seem to be lighter (a lighter oil perhaps) and aren't absolutely coated with sauce. The meat even seems to be better parts. I've enjoyed many meals here from soups, to apps, to entrees and have enjoyed everything I've tried. They do make exceptional dumplings both NYC style, chicken and fried. As far as the Sushi. It's not my favorite in town but I still really enjoy it. They use more rice then most traditional rolls I've had. So the rolls are thicker and fill you up a bit more (not a great option if you are looking to stay low carb). Their edamame is usually buy one get one free, so you get a lot, but has less sea salt on it then I like. I suppose that's good if you are looking for lower sodium, I can always add more if I thought ahead (I think I just tend to like a ton of salt). Recently had a holiday dinner here and brought along my infant daughter and mother (who is wheelchair bound). They were accommodating to us and all our needs. The food here for Chinese takeout is absolutely delicious. A little pricey but the quality is there. The orange beef is excellent chunky pieces of meat sweet hot orange sauce. The curried potstickers are great I haven't been able to find them anywhere else but here. The lo mein is delicious and freshly made with crispy vegetables. This is one of my regular stops when I am in Kingston! The All you can eat option for $25 is amazing (and maybe a little bit insane on their part)! The sushi is good quality, generous cuts, and service is attentive and sincere. The chefs know what they are doing. Call in an order or order online, come 30 minutes later and they haven't even started your order. When you call and ask how long it will take, they will tell you 15 minutes and when you show up your order has not even been started. This is also on slow nights. I've been here enough times to give them a chance. Their waitresses also do not speak much English or know the menu well. If you ask a question, they have to go back to the kitchen and come back a few minutes later. Their sushi rolls are larger than most of the places around so it is more filling but it doesn't outweigh the fact that service is just terrible. Actually four and one-half stars. I am rating this restaurant based on all-you-can-eat only. That's all we have gone here for. The decor is quite modern, clean and classy. It's the best of all the AYCE restaurants we've been to in the Hudson Valley. The food: portions are generous. The sushi/sashimi pieces are much larger than at OYummy (where they are slivers). The seaweed salads are twice the portions than at Kodomo in Poughkeepsie. The fish has always been fresh and tasty. BTW, this is the only AYCE where we could get Yellowtail as sashimi. They advertise some interesting and original appetizers. We vowed to skip the AYCE and just order 5-6 of their appetizers. The service: The waitresses are friendly but their English is minimal, at best. They won't give the AYCE menu unless you ask for it. The food arrives relatively quickly. Once the sushi/sashimi order arrived before all of the appetizers did, but it was a dead night for them (just one other table). They don't ask or check if you need another drink. You have to tell them. Getting refills can be a wait. I gave C Gourmet four and a half stars because my fiancée likes this place. She wants it to be our regular AYCE spot (so I guess it will be). I took one-half star for the service. This place is a hidden gem, IMHO. I was surprised to see it empty on a Saturday night. I don't like to give negative reviews but after a truly unpleasant experience, I came home steaming and felt the need to warn others about what a horrible experience you are very likely to have if you go there. My husband and I went there for dinner. We went there once before with a friend and it was okay. This time, we had a rude Asian waitress who barely spoke English. She had a hard time understanding us, and we had just as hard of a time understanding her. Early on, I asked for a glass of water and if looks could kill, I'd be dead. We ordered potstickers that were thick and deep-fried, not pan-fried and tasted more like Indian pakoras. We let it go. Then out came the garlic shrimp we ordered as our entree. It was sickeningly sweet without a hint of garlic. We thought maybe we got the wrong dish, like a sweet and sour shrimp. We asked our waitress and she insists, No, it's garlic shrimp! Made with sugar. This was after several attempts trying to understand what she was saying. We told her this was not what we wanted. The menu shows it's also supposed to be spicy. This was not spicy at all. She says, Ok maybe you want spicy shrimp. She leaves and we sit there for 10 minutes not knowing if the cook was making another dish or she was still getting just the sauce. Finally, my husband said, "Forget it. Let's just cancel the order." When he tried to cancel it, they argued and the waitress wouldn't take the dish off the bill. We ended up paying for it even though we didn't eat more than our first bite. We left all of the disgusting dish there and walked out of there being very angry. Avoid this place. Why spend money at a restaurant that treats you poorly, makes bad food and/or brings you the wrong dish, and leaves you feeling upset and dissatisfied? We certainly won't EVER be coming here again. I give it three stars for in location service. If I could give it 5 stars for their food though I would. Food always comes out perfect. Never have I ever eaten there without slow, and inattentive servers. Sushi is great. Sesame chicken is great. I got up to get my own sauce, my own ginger and wasabi, to ask for a drink, to ask for my check and to ask for a box. We were there for 2 hours and were pretty much ignored by the waitress. We went here tonight for the first time in years. Could not remember why we have not been there lately. We found out why pretty quickly. Sesame Cold noodles, the sauce was way too sweet, did not eat 3/4 of it. Baked roast pork buns, pulled out of the freezer heated and just tasted old, took 2 bites and put it down. The curry chicken potstickers were ok, and the Rainbow Roll was good.
