Would say 3.5 stars for Miso. Having still not found our tried and true reliable sushi spot, we gave Miso a try. Something I loved about this menu was it had Japanese options but also some classic Chinese take out favorites. My partners go to shrimp fried rice actually was tasty and a nice portion size. My sushi was pretty tasty, fish and veggie rolls both tasted yummy but the rice tasted a bit older. Crab rangoons were A++ as always. Dare I say it, A+ for a sushi spot being opened when everything was closed at 9pm for a Wednesday night during the holidays on this side of Kingston, NY when our Polar Express train ride pulled up to the Westbrook Station. We almost came close to not ordering anything but a young lady miraculously answered the phone and we gave her our order ASAP. Considering we 'just called', our rolls were done in no time. They were fresh and so was the avocado- plus they were rolled tightly. My daughter, hubs and I kept our selections very basic bitch simple- though there's a wide variety of inventive options. So we spent 20min looking at each description on the menu and guessing whose roll was whose. We were presented by our excellent waitress Joy, a menu which included soup and salad, appetizers, fried noodles and rice dishes, teriyaki, sushi, sashimi, rolls, special rolls, and dessert. From this menu, one can select as many options as you like, all for just $22.95. Warning: leftover food is charged as a la carte (which seems fair to me). This restaurant was very disappointing, especially based on the overall positive reviews on Yelp, Google, etc. I had to use the restroom upon entering the restaurant, and was struck by how dirty it was. Then I left the bathroom and entered the dining room to return to my wife and father. Every surface (tabletop, counter, menu, chair) was greasy and stained with food. Each dish was skimpy and also disgusting. The cherry on top of the turd sandwich was the sushi -- completely repellant. You never want to feel unsafe consuming raw fish. What a gem! Came here at the request of my twin 14-year olds, for their birthday, and with couple of their friends. All four teenagers were extremely satisfied with both the sushi & non-sushi options. The first batch of sushi arranged on a tiered boat is always a lovely sight. All-you-can-eat Sushi is a guilty pleasure of mine that I indulge in every now and then. I normally hold myself to higher standards when I need my raw fish fix, but sometimes you just need quantity over quality. As you would imagine, the sushi at most of these other places is subpar with blandish/mushy fish, rice that's either too hard or too soft, and sauced enmasse to valiantly try to cover mediocre and/or awful taste. Once in a great while there is a diamond in the rough. That light at the end of the tunnel that begs you to keep walking forever. MISO is that beacon. Smartly they provide you with a much pared down menu for lunch (for a VERY reasonable 12.95), but the standards are there plus a couple extras. Fish was incredibly tasty and high quality, and the rice was sublime (for sushi aficionados, rice is an important part of the equation never to be overlooked). In fact, I'm so impressed I'm coming back for dinner on the non-all-you-can-eat kick and going for some of the fancier stuff. AND RAMEN. I have yet to find a quality ramen place in the mid-Hudson Valley, but I gotta hankering, this is going to be the place. Looking forward to coming back soon! read more

Par for the course for this type of all-you-can-order place. Sushi was fairly standard, with some nice variations (the "Golden Dragon roll" was a favorite). Beyond the sushi, there were some nice touches. First, they actually had a few options for dessert (fried bananas, tempura cheesecake). Second, tempura can be ordered by type (sweet potato, broccoli, eggplant), so you could get what you wanted, instead of the usual selection of "I'll eat this because it's there..." Third, an order of the various fried items is one piece. Of course, no one would ever order one gyoza...but if there's four of you, and a standard order is six pieces...it's nice to be able to order the exact number of pieces you want, instead of what comes in an order. read more

The last three times we've gone it's been not good at all. There is BARELY any effort put into their rolls, and the service was awful. I was charged $22.95 for my daughter and what we got in the rolls were crap! There was hardly ANYTHING inside our roll OR on top of it. ! It was almost all rice and seaweed paper. I paid $74 with tip and it definitely wasn't worth it. I don't know if this is under new owners or what but this isn't what it used to be at all. They were quite busy on a Friday night and the server apologized a couple of times that we had to wait for the main course, but it wasn't a problem.
