Took my car here based on recommendations from my car buddies. I wanted an oil change and it was easy to make an appointment. You call for a day and then drop the car the night before or show up in the morning and check in. They verified the oil change and asked if I needed additional service. I asked them to take a look and let me know as I didn't think it did. The staff is really friendly and welcoming. The service was very affordable and the quality and care they put into their work is tremendous. When they called to inform me my car was ready, they validated that no other work needed to be done. But if I wanted to 30K service I could. I decided to pass and doing it next month. They didn't push the services and to call them for an appointment when ready. Have been going here for years and dropped off our son's new car to be looked over. Needed an oil change and some other work done. Picked up the car and did not get to far without it smoking. The oil cap was not put on leaving the oil to go all over the engine, exhaust pipes and drained on our driveway. We have been loyal customers here for many years, which makes this experience especially disappointing. We brought in our son's new car for a routine inspection, including an oil change and additional work. Shortly after picking up the vehicle, it began smoking. When my husband later opened the hood, oil splashed into his eye, which was extremely concerning and unsafe. He discovered the oil cap had not been replaced, causing oil to spray throughout the engine, onto the exhaust, and all over our driveway. When we contacted the shop, we were told that if the car was returned before noon, it would be inspected and we would receive a call. We never received that call. Because of this error, we were without a vehicle for two days and had to rearrange work and school schedules, including taking time off work. Ultimately, the only action taken was cleaning the oil spill and refilling the oil. There was no follow-up communication, no apology, and no offer of reimbursement or compensation for the inconvenience and disruption caused. Given our long history with this business, we are very surprised and disappointed by the lack of responsibility, communication, and customer care shown in handling this situation. I've had two Porsches over the years and have taken both exclusively to Arlington Performance Center for service. They've always been accommodating with a loaner car, which I need since I live downtown Chicago. Their service has been top notch, and I've found them to be very reasonable with their pricing. They've also been able to fix any issues I've had in less than 2 days, which is impressive when you consider procuring parts. I can say first hand they are very familiar with the 911 and Cayenne models, and I'd have no reservations recommending them for other European manufacturers. Knowing how expensive Porsches can be to maintain and operate, I probably wouldn't own one if I didn't have a place that I could trust. This review is over due. I originally looked at this location as a referral from a close friend. Then my car broke down and I was looking for a place to get it towed to and I thought of this place. I knew I was going to the right place when the tow driver said he's never had a car there but he has towed there before and everyone raves about APC. That made me feel good right off the bat. The first few times I worked with Chris. He was newish I think and was very quick with emails/calls and explained every very well. Unfortunately my car is turning into a lemon and having trouble getting the check engine light on. The owner calls me and gives me his thoughts / experience on what may be wrong and just wanted to make sure my expectations were grounded. I thanked him for his honesty and his call. And asked to continue to work on my car. It runs 100x better than when I went in the first time. What has sold me on this company is the customer service. Absolutely fantastic service. Fast response, clear quote most importantly I didn't feel pushed that I need to do something that is not a priority or need for now. I was provided with basic car inspection, detailed guidelines of what should, could be done. Upon my agreement the work was done on the day I left the car for check up and returned to me cleaned in and out .. I didn't even ask for that. I tried this place out for an A/C diagnostic and it only cost me $50 dollars. The diagnostic was more involved than originally thought, yet Mark Stone still honored the $50 dollar fee. Had a few good experiences here. They always charge fairly and provide a reasonable list of suggested maintenance. Once I had an odd suspension clunk. They found the error was caused by a user not putting wheel back on tight enough :-) and didn't charge me for my stupidity ( the sound seemed to come from the other side so I didn't double check the other side). They should have charged me for a small fee for diagnosis, that's the sign of a customer orientated shop. read more

Been here twice, worked with Jimmy both times. Estimates are just about dead on with what is charged, which is right on with fair market prices from what I can tell. Lots of very detailed notes on what they find so you're not wondering what leads them to suggest a service. They won't perform unnecessary work, unlike a dealer. I have had Arlington Performance Center work on my Mazda twice and both times have found them to be honest, dedicated, and thorough. I took my car to another mechanic for an oil leak which was creating noxious odors inside the cabin. The other mechanic told me there wasn't a real problem, that the plug was just loose and proceeded to find several other "problems" to fix. I took it to APC and they diagnosed the problem correctly, fixed it in a reasonable amount of time, and didn't charge me for extraneous repairs. It's been a couple months and I'm happy to report that the problem is thoroughly solved. I checked the oil level this morning and it's exactly where it should be. I really wanted to like this place. The front staff were all very friendly and knowledgeable about my Land Rover Range Rover Sport. I left it there for a couple days to get diagnosed for an engine light that had come on ($120 to check it out by the way (normal price range for luxury car)) they told me it was some part I needed (can't remember) htm pump or something...and that it would be $850 to fix it. I researched a bit online and that seemed a bit high and something in my gut told me to get a second opinion but they insisted it was because the space was tight and they would need extra labor hours, I took my car to another high end mechanic in Barrington and they said $300 no worries and it's an easy fix (which they did fix it and my car has been great) I couldn't believe APC was going to charge me $500 extra dollars! On top of that upon pick up of my car from APC they left my spare tire on top of my trunk...not where they found it. Again, the staff were all very friendly but that price difference was unbelievable I felt ripped off beyond belief. read more

I used to use Arlington Performance exclusively for service on my car. They always seemed honest and fair with pricing and never tried to up sell me anything. Unfortunately lately their customer service has gone down hill. First I tried to make an appointment for an oil change and tire rotation. I was told their next availability wasn't until the following week. I figured they were just unusually busy. My next oil change (4 months later), same thing..it would be at least a week before they could "fit me in". The last straw was when I called to see how long it would take to get my headlight replaced. I was told it should only take 15 - 20 minutes, but that they couldn't do it for 3 days! It's winter time, it gets dark early, how can I go 3 days without a headlight!?!? It seems like they have suddenly become "above" taking oil changes, tire rotations, headlight replacement. I guess it's just small potatoes to them, but I will be looking elsewhere for someone who actually wants business for my routine maintenance as well as larger repair. read more

I thought I wrote a review late last year and that I was going to update it. I guess I didn't so here it is: I've been coming here for the past year. They've worked on two of my cars and they did an emergency battery replacement for a friend. I'm guessing that I've had eight or nine visits and, so far, I've been happy every time. For my friend's battery replacement, they were quite a bit cheaper than one of the national auto parts/repair places down the street. I'll update this as I go along. Chris was very knowledgeable about my car and patiently walked me through all aspects of the work prior to start. At some point I gave authorization for comprehensive work on an issue only to find out APC determined not all of it was necessary and charged me less than the quote. Quality of work was top notch and the car was ready within days and the quote was the best among specialized shops I researched in Chicagoland! I called around to many area shops and selected them because they were one of the only places they knew what part I was asking to be installed (it's actually a very common problem for my car) and were also the only place that quoted me a price that was only for the amount of time it would take. Not the time a repair manual said. They were between 1/2 and 1/4 the price of everyone else. They also allowed me to bring in my own parts that I had already purchased instead of buying it from them. We have been bringing our vehicles here after finding them about five years ago. It was hard to find a shop that we could trust to do quality work at a fair price on our out of warranty vehicles. Our sons Audi all road was having problems as it aged. During our most recent service experience the vehicle was towed in due to a breakdown. Jimmy our service advisor was very knowledgeable and he and his team were able to quickly diagnose and repair the problem. While the vehicle was there we had them diagnose and repair problems related to the air ride suspension, control arms, axle boot as well as the cooling system. During Jimmy's absence Chris the owner and Mike jumped in and kept the ball rolling on the repairs. We were even offered a loaner vehicle while repairs were being completed. To top it all off the vehicle was returned to us clean and washed. I would not hesitate telling anybody that I know to bring their vehicles here for repairs.
