I am extremely disappointed with the service provided at Midas in Owings Mills. On multiple occasions, I sent female family members there for something simple: a tire plug. In both instances, the technician claimed there were five to seven nails in the tires. While road hazards do happen, that number raises serious concerns. It feels highly improbable and, frankly, suspicious. Side note:if the nail or scre is in the middle of the tread you're good for a plug! Don't let snake oil salesman tell you need new tires. Witness the tire removal and test process. Don't trust their practices. The end result? Nearly $800 for two tires and an alignment, justified with statements like, "It's standard to do it, miss." That explanation came across as dismissive and condescending. It is difficult not to feel that women are being upsold or pressured into unnecessary services at this location. To make matters worse, one of my family members was sent away during a snowstorm with the remaining two tires underinflated. She then had to stop at Royal Farms down the street and pay to inflate them herself. That is unacceptable and unsafe. My concern is simple: customers -- particularly women -- should not feel taken advantage of or pressured into expensive repairs without clear, transparent justification. If you choose to go here, I strongly recommend closely observing the work being done and asking detailed questions before approving additional services. Don't waste your time went for an uber inspection and they just lie and fail you so they can fix nothing and still charge you for it. Failed for cv axle and alignment and had alignment checked and it was perfect and cv axle had no problems so they just wanted free parts and labor for something that doesn't need anything fixed. Just left for an oil change, brakes, and rotors. It didn't take long at all on Eastern Ave. Amber the assistant kept mechanics on top of their tasks. I asked for her plant and she gave it to me also. I was in Baltimore for a meeting when my car starting making crazy noises, I googled the closed Midas and this is the location that popped up and I am so grateful I stopped by. They didn't have any bays open to look at my car but Joy was at the front desk and came out to my car - had me start it - listened to it - got on the ground - opened the hood and gave me recommendations!!! She said that I would be fine driving it back to my mechanic in Rockville so I did just that. Before I left, I asked for her name and the card says she is the "Office Manager". If she is the office manager, I can just imagine how amazing the rest of the staff is - she didn't have to take the time to do what she did but she did and I am forever grateful!!! I came in for a MD safety inspection and they were able to identify and fix all of them for an extremely fair and reasonable price quickly. The inspection plus repairs took 3 hours total (extremely fast compared to other safety inspections I've had done). I have never been pissed like that , I went to Midas eastern blvd for inspection. I called for inspection and ask the price they said it's $109. I went there after doing all the inspection they said I don't pass the inspection because my passenger front tire has a screw in outer sidewall. while I was waiting for the inspection I can see the guy that was doing the inspection and the lady and another guy was looking at the tire , the were saying something but I couldn't hear anything, and the lady turn around and look at me too , but from what I guess, I know nothing wrong with my tire. I bough my car not too long at Honda dealer, and everything was basically new. after coming back and forth and talking and looking at the tire they decide to give me the report saying my car failed. the guy that was doing the inspection said it has nail in the outer sidewall and he tried to patch it but it's not working( which is a lie because I was looking at them the whole time). he said I will have to get another tire and I was shocked because I know deep down nothing wrong with my tire, I asked how much for the tire , the lady looked and say it's $230 and she goes you supposed actually to get 2 tires but we just gonna do one, I was so pissed but I said I'm my mind no need to waste time , so I refused to pay the $230, the inspector guy called me inside and show me the "nail he was talking about" and he said make sure you get a good tire with good tread . when I was leaving the lady told me I will pay $29.99 for Reinspection. I paid the 109 plus tax was $117.36. The next day I went to my local tire place and I told them I need to check my tire it has a nail, they look at it and said nothing wrong with the tire , he took his tools and remove one little metal that was stuck in the tire, which it didn't even affect the tire , it was just stuck between the tread. I went back to Midas eastern ave , I didn't say anything and say I want to completed my inspection , the lady say ok to wait a little bit because the guy had a customer, I waited some mn an another young guy went to check the car, come back and handed the keys to the one inside. now they said I passed the RE inspection with the SAME TIRE I didn't even change I didn't even do anything with the tire expect the little metal that was stuck in between was removed. While the guy was doing the paper work for the reinspection report the inspector guy came out and was kinda fussing that why they let the young boy did the reinspection he wasnt supposed to do it, I was just looking at them i couldn't say anything because I know if I said anything it wont be good, so I keep my calm. so midas charge another 29.99 for reinspection fee and 6.95 for shop supply , the Total was 37.36 include tax. and I ask them I taught you don't pay for reinspection, the inspector guy said it's not for us it's for the state. (there is no shop supply ,my car was parked outside not even inside the shop and that's where the young men went to look at it for the reinspection) But it's all good Cause GOD IS GREAT. I had just taken my car for decide the week prior so this took me completely off guard. I went into the shop and was told that it would be a few minutes while he checked in the back with the technician. He came out, looked at my tire and changed to my spare right away. I went into the shop to pay and to my surprise, they didn't charge me. Now i understand it was an easy fix, but I didn't expect that. You always hear of repair shops taking advantage of customers but you don't often hear of acts of kindness. Both my fiance and myself go here regularly after receiving a recommendation from a friend. The guys that work here are absolutely amazing. They explain things to you about your car you'd never even think to ask. They break things down in terms of money and what is actually best for your car and usually find the middle ground for you. They are constantly offering advice about regular maintenance and things we should be doing besides just getting your oil changed every 3-5K miles. My fiance recently went in for an oil change and they found an issue with an old hose that had huge holes in it. The car was leaking some sort of gas from the holes. They brought my fiance into the bay where the car was being worked on and actually showed him the piece that had been worn down and needed to be replaced. Prices are reasonable and after a discussion with the employees about if I should switch to synthetic in terms of price, I made the switch. Once they even threw in my tire rotation for me (I get them rotated whenever I have my oil changed). Midas also has a little hole punch card you can use to earn free oil changes. My first punch was on a regular oil change, my second was on the synthetic, a more expensive change. I wasn't told I needed a new card which I probably should have been. Instead, I'll just earn my free-more expensive oil change eventually. Can't say enough awesome stuff about this place! read more

I returned to this Midas because my taillight was out once and they helped me free of charge. This was a bad idea. I came back for back brakes and replacement rotors. They resurfaced my rotors and broke a part in the rear that controls my speed on my tires and didn't tell me. They charged me for new rotors and brakes and sent me on my way. A day later light lit up like Christmas in my dash and they refused to fix it, but asked for $600 more. I called corporate and emailed them and they made it right. I'll never return read more

I had my oil changed at this location. They checked everything that comes with the oil change package. They told me that my air filter was a little dirty and it needed changed. Later that day my car started to act differently. I got to investigating why my car all of a sudden was messing up. I noticed that both clips that lock down the air filter lid were missing. I took it in and he said that they might have been thrown away. I told him that I needed them because it was allowing my car to throw codes. He told me he didn't think that he could get them and he could put a hole on the lid and put a different clip. That was not going to happen. I had to order and pay the $20 for the clips. That will be the last time that I go there. read more

The extent of unprofessional behavior at this store is unbelievable. I could describe many examples, but I 'll stick to just one, which is without question the worst experience that I have had in my lifetime. The store manager at this location, Jimmy threatened my life. He said to me "...I will put you in the ground". Details below. I had my vehicle inspected at this store as part of state safety inspection in mid October. Several items were flagged (which were asymptomatic at the time), including the power steering pump. When I protested the flag on the power steering pump, the inspector (don't recall his name) and Jesse (who was at the front desk) showed me oil stains that were under the vehicle as evidence that the pump was broken. I went along with their recs, and had all the items fixed at the store, for a little less than $2000. 8 weeks and less than 500 miles later, I returned to the store complaining that my steering would not turn. The store manager Jimmy was very defensive and after a 10 second look under the hood, said that the current problem had nothing to do with the repair. He then said that a hose was broken that he could fix if I paid $560. I responded by asking him how he could tell that the pump which I had repaired at this store is still intact. I then told him that I will have the problem checked out elsewhere. I added that if the problem is found to be related to the repairs from Midas, I would make a report. As I walked out the door, Jimmy hurried into the shop, apparently to grab his phone. At this point, he proceeded to take photos of oil stains under my vehicle's hood. Of note, Jimmy said nothing to me at this point: there was no request for permission to take photos, nor even a word about his intention to take photos. I waited for about 15 seconds while Jimmy took a few photos, then I told Jimmy that I had to leave and I attempted to shut the vehicle hood. Jimmy kept one hand on the hood, keeping me from shutting it. At that point, I told him firmly to get his hands off my hood so that I could leave. This was when Jimmy said to me: "You put your hands on me, I will put you in the ground". I was completely taken aback because there had been no heated argument or physical altercation prior to this. As Jimmy became belligerent, my companion who was watching from another car began to record a video of the interactions on her cellphone. Two of the other employees, Jesse and another male came out of the shop. At that point, Jimmy told them that I had threatened him and said that he would call the police. I urged him to go ahead. He then said to "get off my property and never come back". As a very busy healthcare professional, the last thing that I need on a rare day off is an altercation. Even after I was told to pay (unfair, in my opinion), I proceeded to leave without fuss. This manager followed me to my vehicle and prevented me from shutting the hood even after I allowed him to take photos. He then threatened my life in the presence of my family. Same day, I called the store to make a complaint. I was told: "you can take it up with legal", then Jesse hung up abruptly. I then made a complaint through the Midas website stating my invoice number, date of service etc and the facts above. I imagined that they could corroborate the facts by reviewing footage from their security cameras or even request the cellphone video that I had of the event. It has been one week since that complaint, no response from Midas. No surprise. Given the audacity with which this manager threatened my life without provocation, I doubt that this was an isolated event. Needless to say, I will never return to Midas. Even if you do not believe any of the above, do yourself a favor: get a second opinion, and a quote from a competitor. You will find that their prices are way in excess of the competition. read more

Replace the starter and solenoid without replacing the relay lasted about a week charged me $377had to take it to another shop to get it repaired I'm going to take my truck to Midas now the starter and solenoid cost me almost $1,000 cuz they don't know what they're doing and they refused to refund of any kind read more

I went in for an oil change which included a "complentary tire rotation". The staff was friendly and the oil change went fine. HOWEVER they did NOT do the tire rotation as advertised... (I marked one of my rims prior to it being pulled in and it was on the same position when the car was returned to me). Too bad because I would have given these guys a better rating... read more

Came here at 7:55 today for an oil change. My car has been off the lift for about 30 mins now. It's almost 10am. Service is very slow. Definitely will not be coming back here. I called this Midas & advised them the air conditioning in my vehicle went up. They were listed on my fleet paperwork as an approved service provider & I verified with Bill that they could handle the fleet paperwork. He said if he couldn't his manager could. I left my vehicle along with my phone number. My day was busy so I wasn't able to call until 430 to confirm that my vehicle was ready got pickup. At this time the manager advised me that they are not set up to handle fleet vehicles. So my vehicle sat there all day with no work completed. When I asked why no one called me he said they didn't have my number....which they did as I watched Bill write it down. I was so angry. The manager, Darrick, offered me a free oil change but I'm not sure I would want them to even change the oil in my car. I will NEVER use this Midas. read more

I am writing this review to inform others, I should have known better but live and learn I guess. My work van started that winding noise......the one your power steering makes. I checked the fluid and it was empty...leaked out. SO I decided to take it to Midas where my son had his vehicle worked on......on the way there luck would have it my alternator died. Had to have it towed in. Midas called me the next day to inform me that not only did it need hoses, an alternator and battery but a bunch of other things as well......estimate: $2,500! Ok......I need my truck for work.....fix it. Two days later I go to pick it up, they told me a fitting broke on my transmission cooler that it will need a new one. I figured it really wasn't their fault. It was rusted on......the truck has a lot of miles. They said they wouldn't charge me any labor....$250 more dollars. Just fix my truck I use it for my business. Well less then a week later it started that winding noise again....the power steering fluid leaked.....again. I take it back ( 3rd time ) they say somehow they missed one of the hoses and it will cost me $250 to fix it!!!!!! Oh and by the way you have a radiator hose that is leaking ( they didn't see it a week ago?) about $225 to fix that. SO now they want me to have to pay more money to fix the the right way.....the way it should have been fixed to begin with. I know it's almost comical if it wasn't so much money. I ended up paying over $3,000 to get my truck fix. I know better......I just needed my truck for work. I felt like they had me by the balls. Never again though.......save yourself time and money and embarrassment from admitting your stupidity........don't take your vehicle here. read more

I was given a charge of $250 for a sway bar "kit", come to find out after taking it to two separate places thereafter for a comparison it was not necessary for the whole kit to be replaced. I suspected that the garage simply forgotten to reset my service reminder, but I was leaving for the beach and wanted to be safe rather than sorry. I arrived at Midas and Tony was so very helpful, courteous, and friendly. Quality customer service has become difficult to find, and Tony was a breath of fresh air. manager william young refused to replace my lifetime warranty muffler, when it was falling apart, and was a very sarcastic when i had to leave without my muffler being replaced, he stated "have a nice day" as if he enjoyed refusing to replace my muffler. since he refused to replace my muffler the tailpipe along with half the muffler casing has since fallen off. i am going to the better business bureau and midas corporate to resolve this complaint. i have had a couple exhuast systems replaced there in the past, never again!!!!!!!!!!!!! beware of this store. read more

I found myself in a jam a week ago when I got my car back from a body shop for extensive damage and upon returning home, realized my wipers had been installed incorrectly. I was about to drive 200 miles north with a very rainy forecast and didn't have the time to get back to the shop before they closed. The folks at Midas were happy to fix my wipers for me AT NO CHARGE. I have not had any other work here besides this experience, but during my wait, they were very attentive to other customers, explaining clearly the work that was being done, the wait time, and the costs. When I left, it had started raining, and they only partially backed out of the garage so that I didn't have to go out in the rain. Additionally, one of the techs chased me out in the pouring rain to tell me I had a headlight out. Can't comment on the quality of their work, but if it's half as good as their customer service, I'll be a customer for life - they really helped me out when I was in a bind and were kind to boot. I stepped in to ask about prices for a few tires. I heard the staff cursing each other out in the background, I'm not even sure if I can write a transcript here of the things I heard. I was with my 2 year old son. It was a bit ridiculous the types of things they were saying to each other as if nobody on the waiting floor could hear them. In the end he prices were so much higher than the previous shops I visited, the guy at the front desk kept checking his phone and couldn't look me in the eyes. I couldn't take anymore of it and I left mid sentence. Midas is a pretty big name, I could tell the manager was not around. Someone should really spend some time in here, correct the prices, correct the employees behavior, and clean up a bit. Theres too many shops around to go to, theres a lot of competition, and Im sure they could be making a lot more new clientele if they decided to do things right. I wont be getting any service done here and I doubt i'll ever step inside this place again. Baltimore is bad enough, you guys should not represent the city like this. read more
