Had my car towed here because it was the closest repair shop according to my insurance. I knew the car had a bad alternator based on how the car died (power steering stopped working, light came on, abs light came on, etc). Some "Steve" or "Dave" guy was very helpful at first to get me in the door. They charged me $45.00 for diagnostics which took all of 1 minute - they opened the hood of the car and then he came back in and said "yes its the alternator" - what a JOKE - THEN he has the nerve to put a piece of paper in front of me with $850 as the total saying I also need a new battery because the battery is at half charge... uh WHAT?! he didn't even put anything on the battery. I said it's too much, he prints out another sheet without the battery and installation (labor, mind you, stayed EXACTLY the same) $329.00 for an alternator for a 2009 VW Jetta S, then $339.99 in LABOR. THIE PLACE IS A RIP-OFF. This is where mechanics get their bad name from which is a damn shame. After leaving I called them up and told them to cancel the replacement because they are dishonest and I had a tow truck come pick up my car and bring it to my house. Alternators online are $200 at most and mechanics in my area aren't as dishonest as these people. Watch out for the Midas touch, you might get BURNED. F- read more

If I could give this place a negative I would but that's not an option. I came in to get my fuel cap replaced only for them to insist I needed new breaks and their was a crack in the hose. Now please keep in mind my car made no noise before this. After getting the car back having the rotors replaced, the rotors, hose etc the car made a horrible grinding noise. Over a MONTH we brought it back sometime twice a week for them to either say it was faulty calibers or faulty rotors...how that happens twice on brand new parts I have no idea. After the 4th time of bringing it back they finally said it was our control arm and bushing. After calling other mechanics for their opinion every single ones reaction was ".....what are they morons the control arm is right next to the caliber how could they not see it." So still trying to let Midas do right by us we brought it back only for them to quote us at $439 and $155 of that being labor!!! Then they had the nerve to try and blame us since that was on our safety check list...well if that was on our safety check list why didn't MIDAS CHECK that!!! That being said we went to another mechanic who did it for $355 and wait it gets better the grinding WASN'T from the control arm or bushing it was due to the break pads being bad!!!! That MIDAS replaced 3 times!!!! Stay far AWAY Rico, Adam and the manager Louis may be nice but they have NO IDEA ABOUT CARS!!!! read more

In August, I had a Groupon deal. I told them I needed to get my front brakes done but only wanted the front pads done. Louis tried to convince me to get all my brake pads & rotors done but I declined and only got my front pads and rotors done. He tried to say that I had a leak in back caliper and I would need to get that fixed. I declined it and went about my business with my new brakes. I later went to Goodyear and they told me that there was not a leak but whatever. 7 months later my car started to make a grinding noise and a loud pitch squeak. I went to Goodyear and got my brakes checked and they told me that my front rotors need to be replaced because they were not good, my brake pads were no longer there so according to them, my brakes were on "metal to metal." . When I got there Louis was cool about the whole thing at first. After an hour of waiting Louis calls me into the service area. We go over to my car and he tells me my caliper is locked up and messed up everything. He then says he can give me an estimate to fix my caliper. At this point, I expressed how unhappy I was about this and mentioned the fact that they gave me some faulty brakes. Louis then became rude and kept trying to talk over me and cut me off while I was trying to get my point across. I then told him to just put my rotors and brakes on and I will get the caliper fixed elsewhere. He tried to tell me that he cannot put the rotors and pads on a broking piece because it is going to happen again. He then tried to say that he is going to "look out for me" and not charge me parts or labor for the rotors and not for the brake pads since they have a warranty. Then says to replace 2 calipers ( I didn't know I had to replace them both ) for 509.68 ! I declined and left. I called my warranty company and they informed me that the caliper on my car is indeed covered! Great! Today I finally got to take my car to the Nissan dealership to get my brakes checked out. They informed me that there is NOTHING wrong with my calipers and that the issue is my rotors and brake pad. Also informed me that the pads used were "off brand" ! To make matters worse I had to pay Nissan $77 to check my brakes. When I got to Midas Louis wasn't at the front counter. It was a Caucasian male with long hair. I begin to tell him the entire story and he clearly didn't care. Once I mentioned that Nissan has informed me that there is nothing wrong with calipers he tried to change the story and say "I was here, and we never said that your caliper was broke we said they were hung up and need to be replace." I questioned why should I believe them and not Nissan when they made the car. He goes to say "the mechanics at Nissan didn't make the car, I worked at a dealership before." Who cares and who asked you ? Anyways he started saying he can get me an estimate on it and I'm like I thought you guys were fixing for free like Louis said yesterday. He then says you will have to pay for labor and the parts since it been 6 months. At this point Louis walked into the shop and started to help another customer and not acknowledge me as if he didn't remember me from Saturday. I then explained that they did something wrong in the first place and tried to lie, but he didn't care. Then tries to say I am trying to take money out of the mechanic pockets. Louis finally decided to step in and take over. I then explain again that I have been to Nissan and they informed me that nothing is wrong with my caliper. He then tries to flip it and says that he never said it was anything wrong with my caliper and that he said my hoses were bad which can make the caliper go bad. Hmmm so why would you try to charge me for two caliper if the hoses just need to be changed ? Sketchy! He then goes to say that I would have to pay $291 to get everything fixed. I declined and expressed how I felt as though they were trying to scam me and asked why it isn't free as you mentioned yesterday. He says that he cannot do it for free because I am not getting my caliper fixed. When I then pressed him about why would I get my caliper fixed when Nissan said it was fine he then dropped the price to $251. Still wasn't happy so we continued to go back and forth.. I ended up saying yes to the $250 and let them work on my car. However, I decided to research their customer service line and contacted them in the parking lot. The rep was cool and understood where I was coming from but said that someone would contact me back in 72 hours. I ended up getting the corporate number. I called them and the rep was very helpful and tried to fix the issue as much as he can. They offer to pay for one of the rotors and contacted the store to inform Louis. Now the price was 195 and I still feel as though I shouldn't have had to pay that since none of this was my fault. He then mentions the fact that corporate is going to pay for one of my rotors and says that they have decided to never work on my car again. I almost laughed so hard read more
