DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR TO MIDAS IN BOLINGBROOK. THEY ARE CROOKS!!! I took my car on 1/13/25 because it was making a knocking noise rear right side. They said it was the heat shield so I had them replace and was charged $900. The gentleman at the front desk said "All quiet now" and 2 days later the knocking started again. Made an appointment again and the first day they were short handed and had to wait the next day. When they finally took a look at my car now they said the coils were broken and that would be $980 plus dollars. You mean to tell me that you didn't see the coils broken when you replaced the heat shield that was pobably just fine. Both my regular mechanic and another mechanic I was referred to were unable to handle the repair that my 10+ year old car needed. I drove to and asked the Bolingbrook Midas if they could do the repair. Danny provided an estimate but cautioned me that the parts and repair required my car stay with them for several days and they could not fit my car's repair into their schedule that day. Fine!! We scheduled the repair and my car was dropped off on the arranged day. The repair was completed two days earlier than expected ( Hooray!!), the cost was the same as the estimate, and without me asking, Danny inquired if I needed a ride to pick up my car. I took my car into Midas because everytime I would put AC recharge in my car it would only blow cool for day to a day and a half, and then just blow warm air. So I initially think that I have a leak. I take my car in, and they call me the next day saying that my AC condenser was "rotting" and that it needs to be replaced, and once it was replaced they would put dye into the AC line to test for leaks. They quote me for 1100 dollars for the condenser and dye. I say, "ok, let's do it". I pick up my car and I am told that they didn't see any leaks and the car has been running cool. I drive my car for two days then use my wife's since she is out of town for the holiday weekend. I drive my car again on Monday, to work, and my car is blowing no cold air. I call Midas, tell them what's going on, and they tell me to bring it in they'll take a look at it. I bring my car in, they put it on the lift, and tell me that my AC discharge hose is leaking and that they can fix it for 330 dollars. I asked them are you guys going to cover the fix since you told me that there was no leak when they tested it after they charged me 1100 dollars. They tell me no. The guys working the front desk seem to be nice people but the customer service of that place is absolutely horrible. I paid 1100 dollars and I still have the same issue as when I initially brought it in. read more

Went to this shop to get the brakes looked at. After my appointment, the car had a loud squeaking whenever I hit the brakes. I was upset and scheduled another appointment. The manager Jeff handled the situation like a true professional. He gave me a free inspection and replaced the brand new brake pads that seemed to be faulty. Not sure if the squeaking was due to a mechanic's error or just faulty product, but the way they responded and treated me will keep me coming back. read more

First, they are very accommodating and try their best to secure an appointment for me even when they're busy (and they're busy quite often--a good sign). Used to go here with our vehicles and stopped in today to get a routine tire repair. I was given a wait time of 45 mins to a hour which was zero issue. I went to grab something from my car and during that 15 seconds, the wait jumped to over two without anyone else coming in and no explanation. I went to the Bolingbrook Midas shop yesterday September 28th . I was treated so nicely by everyone there especially Sebastian . He made me feel welcome and important . He offered me coffee and water . I didn't know if I needed new brakes or not but within 45 minutes I was told that my brakes were fine and he did not try to sell me anything else to fix on my car. He helped me to my car as I use the cane and told me it was nice to meet me . I can't thank him and Midas enough for helping me and giving me the peace of mind that my car is okay . Don't be a couple minutes late! I will admit I was 7 minutes late for an oil change appointment. upon checking in with the front desk, the gentlemen informed me "I gave your appointment away because your late. You can either leave the car for the day or re-schedule". Once again, yes I was late. There was only one person in the waiting room. Yes, there were multiple cars in the lot. Once again, I admit I was late. I traveled 25 minutes from my hometown to go there because my significant other had brought a car there about a year ago and mentioned how nice everybody was there. So I figured I'll go out of my for good service. I understand if they said something like you missed your appointment time, but if you can wait a bit we will get your car in asap. But no offer of that to somebody who wanted to spend money at the business. I got the vibe the gentlemen thought he was the soup nazi (Seinfeld reference). Hopefully he's never late for work or an appointment. Won't be traveling out of my way to come here anymore. God forbid a little bit of traffic makes you late. Went to the jiffy lube down the road. no star change at all. while there is a Midas franchise closer to my house I got a estimate that I had a few questions about and I decide to get a second opinion haven't had some fantastic work done in a pinch on a muffler and exhaust pipe by Brandon and this facility I came back again. we talked on the phone I said when I get into town I'll cruise the Durango over and let's take a look and see and so they did basically what was a blind inspection with their guys and mechanics inspecting and not knowing what I originally received and we'll compare. show the first thing was I knew for a fact that brakes were bad that was a given didn't know about the front and I was told the front end was bad wheel bearing was bad and nothing about the rear brakes cuz I never looked at it and some ball joints throwing some alignments and some other stuff in the possibility that the tie rod ends may not make it they may break in the process of removing to get to the ball joints. so I showed Brandon what I got from this reputable supposedly franchise I will leave it on named because I'm not going to mud-sling.. fadeless to say by the time it was said and done we both agreed on the brakes definitely pads rotors were shot and the calipers were basically pissin fluid all over and need to be replaced. same with the rear caliper one of them was bad so basically three out of four calipers at the time. but the good thing was although it needed the wheel bearing and did not need the ball joints the front end was still good in tact. and by the time it was all said and done I shave my most $400 over the prior estimate of 2400 bucks versus 1910. so I decided to pull the trigger and go ahead and do it cuz the old girls been good to me for 15 years since I bought it in 2015 and I really don't want to buy another one just yet. the body's got some hail damage from last year dings I don't care few dings and a dent. but living a life outside in Chicago for over 15 years it's almost rushed free other than some surface rust at the bottom but that big monster 5.9 litre 360 runs like a dream.. Brandon said he could have it done the next day which they actually did but the weather got crappy and I decided while I'm wearing your car anyway I'll just keep it for a couple of days and come back and get it they said they'll keep it inside overnight which was really nice of them... best part to price it was quoted stood there was no difference everything that it was quoted as an estimate was perfect they beat the other place by like I said almost four hundred bucks and I come to find out they do everything except transmission work they do engine work they do small stuff like body inside power windows and everything's is a full-service shop and this is the second time I've been very very pleased. and the promptness you cannot beat call the heads of time said I want to bring it down so it will have it done everything was done this promised you can't beat it and most of the people that have come into this facility I noticed you can see the look of content on their face even from a simple oil change great service from Brandon and all the people around.. so once again if it's in a pinch and I don't mind leaving it or if I have to get something done I will definitely even though it's further from my house but close to where I parked the truck I will definitely come back here again. to have them literally look at the estimate that I got and say no you don't need this makes it a little disheartening to what that I got in the first place. silence summary thanks for another great experience and yeah it was two grand but it was two grand well spent as far as I'm concerned. read more

I am a very nice and respectful person so I don't usually do this but this place definitely deserved a review. Even as I walked in, they were already arguing with a costumer because they were pushing something onto him he clearly didn't want. (Already a bad sign) I was in need to get my front breaks done because they were scraping really hard so I dropped my car off to get it looked at. I get a call at the end of the day telling me about every single thing they found wrong with my car giving me a list of prices. I politely declined and asked how much for just the front breaks, which the gentleman replied was gonna be like $400 + do to the severity of the problem which I agreed to. Also, please note that he reminded me that I will need to get my back ones done eventually. I don't know about you, but I am on a budget so I asked for the total a few times. I came in to pick the car up on Monday because they are closed Sunday, they told me the total was $1,300 plus!!! When I spoke with the manager, he had the nerve to call me out and tell me that I told him to do ALL of the breaks (front and back) , even tho I told him politely on the phone that I don't want any of the extras, just the front breaks done! After they threatened me with keeping my car unless I pay, I had to cave in. Never coming back here ever again. This place honestly only cares about one thing and that's to get as much money from you as possible. I would recommend Firestone over this place if anyone ever needs car repairs, they have kind hearted people over there who will sometimes even fix some things at no extra charge! read more

Terrible! In no way was anyone rude to me while getting my service done, but I dropped my car off to get the front breaks done. They broke my break line, and refused to fix it. I drove the car in with 0 leaking, and drove off the lot with literal drops of fluid coming down the break line.. They Admitted that it broke while under their supervision. They Claimed they broke it while on a routine test drive and because it that it's not their responsibility. I took my vehicle to the Midas shop on 460 N Bolingbrook drive to have the AC serviced about a year ago. When the service tech tried to recharge the system, they TOLD me the condenser had leaks and would have to be replaced cost $770. I gave the okay for the replacement. After waiting for about an hour, the service tech came out and said the timing switches would also need replacement, cost $550. I gave the okay since they had already replaced the condenser and w/o the timing switches the AC would not work. Now I'm over $1200 invested in the AC. When we left the AC worked fine, but only for about a month or so. Flash forward to a year later, I've relocated to Arizona and took the vehicle to a local facility, thinking a recharge would help things. Much to my dismay, the tech told me the condenser has small leaks. I told the tech I had the condenser replaced a year ago. The tech said it appeared to be the original condenser that came with the vehicle. Note vehicle is about 16 years old. In short, lots of money spent for nothing. I rate this facility a ZERO. They lie and overcharge. I know its hard to find an honest mechanic these days, but at least I've identified one who is NOT. read more

The only thing I have to say that was slightly negative was that there was a Pick up truck with political propaganda flags on the side of the building which Belong to Midas personnel. I almost didn't enter I felt a little a intimidated and actually looked up Pep Boys but I went ahead and actually I'm glad that I did. I have been bringing my car to Midas in Bolingbrook for four years now and have always had a good experience. They were able to make repairs on my previous car that another mechanic wasn't able to. I now live in Lyons but still bring my car here to be serviced. They do a thorough check on the car and alert me to small problems, that can be addressed at a low cost before they can become big problems. I trust them because I brought my car in once because I thought I had a problem with my right rear door locking mechanism. The door couldn't be opened from the inside. As it turned out, I wasn't aware of the child safety switch which was turned on, so there was no charge. I couldn't help but think another mechanic would have taken advantage of the situation and charged me several hundred dollars to repair it. read more

DO NOT VISIT THIS LOCATION What a complete and utter rip off. Brought my wife's car here for a simple oil change. Not only did we have to wait - even with an appointment scheduled - but the oil change itself took over an hour. When we came back from running some errands, we were surprised to see the car STILL not completed. They insisted that the belts needed to be replaced and that the shocks were "leaking" fluid. Mind you, this car was only two years old at the time! We refused the other services, took the car to a reputable mechanic, and said everything was just fine. The "leaking" shock, he said, leaks out a little fluid from normal wear and tear, just like EVERY shock absorber on the face of the planet. What kind of "certified" technicians work here, I wonder? Technicians that'll be out of a job soon, I think, if service like THAT continues at that location. Some people swear by Midas, but we certainly don't. read more

I come here on occasion to get oil changes but my last visit didn't go so well. Back story - I took my 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT (I know I should've went straight to the dealer) to receive a simple diagnostic test to see why I was receiving an error code (P0305) for a cylinder 5 misfire. They told me I would need a tare down of the motor to check the camshaft. I called my warranty company and they recommended that I go to a dealer. I picked the car up and it was in worse shape then what I dropped it of in. I receive multiple codes and the car was riding a lot rougher then when I dropped it of in. I got it to the dealership in Naperville and they were unsure what Midas did to the car because nothing was documented. I called to see what they did and the rep at the dealer had to call as well. Midas told me that they only took out the coils and sparks to see what was the root cause of the problem. They told the dealer that they actually switched the sparks and coils to see if the coils/sparks were the problem. They did not document which sparks/coils they changed and that cause the car to be in worse shape. All in all don't take any high performance vehicle to this location for major issues just oil changes (only go to certain locations), tire issues, and wheel alignments. read more

First of all, I cannot comprehend the negative previous reviews! They are from a long time ago, here is a present account: My fiancée and I have been taking our vehicles to a sub par shop and took a chance on Midas to change it up! We called Saturday morning and were told 'first come, first serve!' We arrived at the shop at 8:20 on Saturday morning with TWO cars! First car, routine oil change. It was completed within an hour. Second car, a smidge more difficult. Oil change and brake inspection ( I had a brake pad jump ship in transit). We were invited into the garage to physically inspect the rotors and brake pads. Really?! Not only was it awesome, but it was a learning experience...!! The entire rear assembly needed to be replaced, and it was done by noon! This was the best experience I've ever had at a shop. Brandon, the man who helped us face-to-face, was so helpful and communicated all details. As long as I am in the western suburbs, I will be dealing with this Midas location. read more

I declined and took it elsewhere where i was told my brake fluid was low. For a few bucks they topped it off and the light went out and I was good to go. Midas should be ashamed of themselves. I went there on a Saturday. Yeah, I knew they were busy. I was told 2 hours at least.The lady at the counter acted very mad that I was even there. I told her I thought I needed two front rotors and brake pads. Then I asked what it would cost. She huffed and puffed and said about $480.00. I really didn't know if that was right or wrong. I told her I would return on Monday. Instead Monday I went to CarX. In and out in 1 hour. Pads and rotors replaced. Total ..............$279.86. I woke up one morning with a flat tire. Awesome! I had to get to work. This is between my home and work and my normal AWESOME car guy is in Westmont (ReelAutohaus) so I went here because I could walk back to the store after work to pick up my car. I called ahead, explained I could leave the car there, and they said no problem. So, I pick up my car after work (I had a 7 hour shift) and they told me my serpentine belt (?) something would need to be replaced soon... I said sure I'll think about it, they gave me an estimate for what they recommended, I gave them $85 dollars and went home. The VERY NEXT MORNING I wake up with THE SAME flat tire AGAIN! I call the store and take my care back in and explain what happened. They said they can repair the tire, and I said "what did you do yesterday?" They said the tire must be leaking, I thought in my head, "Yes, that would be how tires go flat." Long story short I walk home and they call me a while later and I walk back to pick up my car. They wanted another $85. I said, "I was just here yesterday for the same issue that you obviously didn't fix... I don't feel it is fair for you to charge me another $85 when you might as well not have done anything yesterday." To which the lady behind the counter replies, "I can take $10 off for your trouble." I am a pretty easy going person, but I could have bought a can of fix a flat and it would have done a better job and not cost $85.... I paid $160.00 total. I will NEVER go here again. read more
