My passenger window was stuck down. I called the dealer who quoted $200 for the diagnostic fee, alone. I then called Midas in Carmichael (where I've taken my car for repairs for some time). They said there would be no fee -- they'd take a look and let me know what it would cost. I dropped it off and they were able to fix it that day and didn't charge me anything. SCAM ALERT !! I went in and paid for a " inspection " because my car kept pulling to the left. They gave me a list of things to replace YET after spending over $500 replacing what they said i needed so that my car would no longer pull to the left....... it still pulls to the left !!!!! I came in for an oil change and tire rotation, but they did not rotate my tires. Thankfully I had a yellow mark on one of my tires and noticed it had not been rotated. The manager Dan acknowledged the mistake but did not offer any compensation or free services other than offering to do the original job. I will never return here and do not trust them to do what they say they will. read more

This location is great. I have been coming here for over 10 years for oil changes and tire rotations. What I really appreciate about the location is the customer service. The staff is always very knowledgeable, friendly, and honest. Today for example I was going to leave my Jeep, and walk home so they could have it for the afternoon. As I was leaving, George checked to see if there were any bays open. There was an open bay, so he asked if I was okay with them doing the work right then. I of course was happy to start immediately. I was at the post office across the street and one of the idiot lights started flashing. I knew I was overdue for an oil change. They were super nice and didn't try to upsell anything, nor did they to scare me into repairs I didn't need. It is nice to find a place you can trust close to home. Update November 16, 2012 I visited again yesterday for the next oil change. They told me my tires were cracked. After 7 years and about 62,000 miles, that seems reasonable. I'll have to have the tires added the day before Thanksgiving. Not the cheapest set of visits but I guess better than a scary blowout on a long drive to Southern California. read more

When I pulled up and they asked what I needed, the older man that works there was rude and not personable, told me he has no time and MAYBE can fit me in later in the week. We have brought our car here for service several times in the last few years. We brought in in on Thursday for brakes, an oil change, etc. The car actually ended up needed some extra help and they told us they would have it ready by Monday. We were a bit disappointed because we needed the car to visit relatives on Christmas day. The employee (Keith) ended up calling us a few hours later and said they busted out all the work with 3 of them working on our car to get the job done. I feel they went beyond what we expected of them and also did an excellent job on our car. Plus they usually have pretty funny stuff on their sign. I highly recommend taking your car here. We chose this place for it's good reviews and it's proximity to the house. I took my car here on a Friday and received very professional and kind service. My issue was that it shouldn't have taken over 4 hours for an oil change and replacement of two brake pads. I just wish that they had been straight up with me when I arrived and told me that my wait would be lengthy. I would have figured out another plan. After 1 hour, they gave me a far off estimate on the time. They also don't have wireless internet in the waiting room. read more

Had a screw in my tire fixed here last week. I didn't think it would have been fixed with a cheap plug instead of the correct way of patching a tire. A week later it was flat again on my brand new car. The technician denied liability and said it wasn't his plug that was leaking on a "brand new car" and that I should have it fixed at the dealer. Well I just paid midas last week.... I asked "will you refund me because you can't fix the problem?" Their answer was no it's not leaking from the patch. Les Schwab fixed the tire and confirmed the leak from the plug... What are you going to do Midas? You lost me as a customer for life over something so small. I went here to get my oil changed and also paid extra to get my fluid levels checked. They get two stars for having reasonable prices and getting it done quickly. THE PROBLEM was they did not check my levels (which were very low) and they broke off the top of the oil tank cap and LOST it. I will not go back. read more

I had a warranty on my battery that I bought from Midas (at a different location). Took my car to two mechanics earlier in the the day who both told me I had a bad batter. Took my car in and explained situation to Midas staff, even had my receipt from when I bought the battery. The guy at the counter gave me a slimy feeling, similar to when you know you're being taken advantage of. He wanted to charged me to test my battery. I declined knowing full well that I've been told by other Midas locations that if I bought my battery from midas and base on the warranty they wouldn't charge me to test the battery and would replace if it was bad. The guy blatantly wanted to make a profit anyway he could and thought he was going to pull a fast one on me. I ended up going to the Midas off Arden, who had superior customer service and were honest. The Midas off Arden not only tested my battery for free, but pointed out other things they noticed about my car and gave me quote with no pressure to buy. WORD OF ADVICE, GO TO THE MIDAS OFF ARDEN. AVOID THIS MIDAS ON FAIR OAKS unless to want to be gouged and told embellishments to scam you out of cash for unnecessary work Anyways, if you take your car to O'Reily's or Auto Zone they also test for free. read more

Originally took my Jeep to Sears for a screw I had ran over, they told me nobody would patch it for it was near the side. I came to Midas and they told me it would be no problem and they would patch it right away. I got brakes done here last week. I really felt they cheated me because I'm a female, but that's my opinion. The place reeked of cigarettes which shouldn't have been a surprise because there were 2 old farts in there shooting the sh*t the whole time I was there. They don't have the midas touch in my opinion. I recommend you search really hard for a fair deal before messing with these folks! I was happy with the work, but very unsatisfied with how much they charged me. They also took all damn day to put on 2 front brakes. WOW! They didn't even call me when they were finished. Even though I purchased the part from anther Midas, this shop refused to replace the part under warranty. A different Midas shop gladly replaced the part. I Finally got a yelp account and now I can write my review. I brought them my car mu mom gave. It was a 1998 Saturn SL2. I went there for the oil change. I also asked the guy to check all the fluids and rotate the tires because that came free with the oil change. All I have to say is if you have a waiting room and and it has windows all around it make sure your employees do what they say will. I will never come back here. I got the oil and that was about it. I never got the tire rotation and never got my fluids checked. So yeah. Never got that which made me mad so I payed for the oil change and left. I would never recommend this place ever. read more

After being taken advantage of by my dealership, time and time again, I decided to stop in here. It worked for me that it is a locally owned small business. The customer service was over the top and the price was dramatically less than what I had been paying at the dealership and even at the shops that claim they specialize in my make of vehicle. I have now used this Midas 4-5 times for regular maintenance as well as little things like new wipers or headlight replacement. I recently came to Midas for my Toyota 4Runner which had failed an emissions test twice at a local smog station. It was diagnosed as a gross polluter. I was worried my Toyota was going to cost me a lot in repairs so that's when I called Midas. When I did call I spoke to Mike with my questions and concerns about not passing smog. He told me to bring it on in and they would have a look at it. So I did bring it in on a late Thursday afternoon and on Friday morning by 9 am Mike phoned me to say your Toyota passed the smog no problem to come and pick it up it was ready. Mike was very professional and made me feel right at home. He arranged for me to get a ride home with their shuttle service because I did not have a ride. I feel he went above and beyond the call of duty not just for me but as I saw him interacting with other customers as they came into the shop. Mike was very honest and accommodating to my needs and concerns. I also wanted to say "Thank you" to all the hard working mechanics at Midas, as it was 100 degrees outside and they still did an outstanding job. I brought my car in to get the brakes inspected and I asked if they could take a look at my shocks as well. The old man behind the counter was rude from the first time we spoke. I explained to him what's my car was doing, making noises and what not. And he gave me the sort of attitude like I was dumb. You see I'm a 35 year old electrician that really never got into working on cars. I felt that this old man was judging me because I came in a little dirty from work and he look at me and probably thought "look at this punk driving a Lexus." Mind you I am a white male that probably pays more taxes and is an positive person in this community. So when I got the call back that my car was done he put on extra charges and fees on my bill. I had my wife come with me to prove that this old man is judging a book by its cover. I first walked and he gave me straight attitude then my wife came, she's older might I add, and his demeanor changed which bothered me even more. I step out side to not cause any scene. And this is the only way I think he will learn not to be so Prejudice. You see it's not just black people getting treated like garbage. Midas needs to take a look at who they hire. Or try and train them to not judge people by how they dress or what car they are in. I have never done one of these yelps and thought I never would but I am angry at the fact that these rude elderly people can be rude to someone just because of there age. Midas please train that man better! I hold the company accountable for this....... oh and not to mention my car is still messed up. Now I have to go back. Smh hope this goes well. WOW!!!! Reputible and Honest!!!! You can really trust Midas Auto Service to do exactly what they say...and then some!!! My poor daughter had the unfortunate experience of taking her car to the Mike Daughtery Chevy dealership on Fulton in Sacramento...where she was royally screwed. Not only did it take them over two weeks to fix a blown head gasket, but when they did fix it, they neglected other items in the car that should have been corrected. Then, based on these very great YELP recommendations, we brought her car to Midas in Carmichael, and not only did they correct what the dealership had failed to fix (a bad thermostat caused by the same overheating that had blown the head gasket), but they also fix shoddy workmanship in the head gasket replacement evident from the Mike Daughtery dealership FOR FREE!!!!! Needless to say, my daughter has found her new mechanic and will be bringing her car into him faithfully from now on! Hey, all you folks in Carmichael....PLEASE DO THE SAME!!!! Let's keep this great auto service center IN BUSINESS!!! We can't afford to lose them! read more
