Total rip off, my girlfriend took her car in to have it checked out. She knows nothing about car repairs. They stated the problem was a hole in the front exhaust and the parts, a front pipe, 3 gaskets and 5 bolts were almost $600. Also needed a tire sensor for $99.00. Total estimate over $1000.00 I went on the GM parts site for her and the exhaust components were $158.28 and the tire sensor $22.00. My first visit with midas was great. I came in for an inspection and was pleasantly surprised when there were no pushy sales tactics used. Today i came to have new wheels and tires that i supplied to have them installed. I gave them new tpms sensors, lug nuts, the wheels and tires. They tell me my truck is done and i pay about $350 for 4 tires mounted and balanced, an inspection and an alignment. As soon as i get in my truck, i notice the tpms are not calibrated or even working. They told me they arent equipped to finish the job and reset the tpms. Then i leave and as soon as i get on the highway, the truck shakes aggressively and am forced to return to have them address the issue. I took the mechanic for a ride and he noticed the aggressive shake immediately and told me a mistake must have been made and they would fix it. After thier final reassurance, they told me if there is any shake left, its in the tires and will get better with time. So i left again, and found that nothing had changed with the ride quality. Went to an actual tire shop shortly after and they stated the tires were out of balance and too much weight was used, and they also re calibrated my tpms sensors to match with the corresponding tires. I learned that midas unfortunatley has a bad reputation for good reason. read more

I requested service for my Silverado on Wednesday afternoon. Didn't hear back. I requested service again this morning and Steve said he could look at it but I needed to drop it off. I stated in the request I needed to wait for it and reiterated that I couldn't leave it. Steve said he could look at it next week. I stated I work until 4pm each day and "crickets"! I'm a 18 year old student who attends NHTI. I went into this establishment by myself to have them check my battery life because my car died in the parking lot and I was almost positive I didn't leave a light on or anything. I gave them the car and they did a whole review of everything which was nice but costed me $40 and I didn't even ask. I'm not sure if it was just for checking the battery or what but still...Ridiculous. I came back when they were done and he told me that my battery was completely dead and it was the original battery. (I had a 2010 VW CC). He told me that they could put in a new battery for nearly $200 so I called my Grandpa and told him the situation and he said we can get a battery somewhere cheaper. So I left. A few days later still thinking I had a DUD battery I took it to autozone in Laconia. Just for the heck of it I asked them to test my battery. It was at 88% good condition and was no where near dead. And it didn't cost me a dime. Looking back at the report they had run it said my battery was completely fine but at the time while I was in the store when he said it was a dead battery I hadn't gotten the report yet. I've been coming here for the past two years for oil changes and inspections with no problems. Last week I went in for an oil change and inspection and was told my wheel bearings were too wrecked and my tires too worn to pass inspection. Then, was told my brakes were in the yellow and would need to be replaced in the next few months but they would pass me if I got new tires and 2 back wheel bearings (as if it were a negotiation). My total was looking to be around $2800. I still decided to go ahead with the tires and wheel bearings. Later, a close friend told me I was being extremely up charged and to go somewhere else. I still ended up getting new tires from Midas but decided to go somewhere else for the wheel bearings. Pat at Midas told me at least one of the two wheel bearings was "really scary" to be driving with. When I got to a different auto shop, they inspected my car only to come back and explain that my wheel bearings were completely fine, as well as my brakes (noting that my tires were probably fine, too)! I have an Elantra that had an engine replaced by the manufacturer and they stated my motor for my ac was no good & I needed it replaced & it would cost $1200 for parts and labor -- I spoke with the gentlemen at Midas and they stated that if that was what needed to be done they would do it for just under $800, but they need to asses it. They did the assesment and stated the only thing wrong was that it needed freon & my ac has been working fine and it was over $1000. less then what the dealership wanted. I am a senior citizen (female) and they have treated me with utmost respect and have answered my questions that I have had & made sure that I understood what they were explaining to me. I had been going to the Concord location for years without any issues. Recently new managers started showing up and the service went down hill fast. No protective mats or gloves worn when entering the vehicle - as a result the car was left dirty on more than one occasion. I went in for an oil change and tire rotation - they didn't rotate the tires - management did not care. They have a current offer - sign up for a credit card and get a free oil change yearly. One year later they would not honor the oil change as advertised. I did call the shop to resolve these issues and was harassed by management. This shop is unprofessional - they have Zero respect for customers and their vehicles. As a result I will never go to the Concord NH location. They got it in right away , checked the brakes, figured out they were fine and identified that the problem was just a shield that had come partially detached under the car. Don't go here!!! This place is filled with crooks and lying employees! I tried to use a groupon but they were giving me problems saying "we don't have access to the program." After some time, they figured it out and applied the coupon. For a basic oil change and four employees, they took 1.5 hours!!! Wasted my entire morning there! I drove home and found grease and grim all over my steering wheel. After a week, I noticed oil on my driveway and so I went back to this place. They said that there was nothing wrong with it and just wiped it. Oil still leaked and so I took it to another place. They told me that Midas impaled the oil tank with a screw driver and so I had to get the tank replaced! 1. Incompetent employees who didn't know how to use the computer system 2. If it needs something, they'll let me know and they're usually good about showing me what they're talking about (which reassures me that they're not just making something up). They've never tried to sell me something I don't need, and I feel like they're always conscientious of my wallet. I was on the way north from Connecticut towing a small camper in order to vacation and get married when my car started making an awful racket. It was about 5:30 pm and I was faced with the dilemma of a broken down car in an unfamiliar place. Luckily, a search on my phone showed that Midas would be open for 30 more minutes. When I arrived, Dave, the mechanic, was very accommodating. Despite it being minutes from closing time and my not having an appointment, he put it on the lift and spotted the problem right away (a broken pipe leading to the muffler). He then promised me an appointment first thing the next morning. We ended up finding a nearby campground and were able to rest that night with the knowledge that we would be able to move on in the morning. Sure enough, I brought the car in at opening and Dave had me on the road within a couple of hours. I could not recommend this business more highly. read more

I have visited the Concord location about 6 times - New manager took over recently - as a result I experienced bad service. Went in for an oil change and inspection - the car was loaded with grease. The windows, dash, steering wheel and door. My next visit was for an oil change and tire rotation. After waiting almost an hour I was told the car was ready. I quickly discovered the tire rotation was not done. The manager was unprofessional and gave me excuses as to why I did not need a tire rotation. Went here to have my snow tires put on and was told we needed a related $400 fix. We hesitated, wanting to do a bit more research and I'm so glad we did! Long story short, after bringing it to another shop, I was asked to come look at my car on the lift, and they proceeded to show me why that part was definitely not in need of repair. We saved ourselves over $400 in UNEEDED repair fees. But, even if we'd needed the repair, we were able to find a reputable auto shop who would have done the same job for half the price. Went in for a simple groupon oil change and tire rotation. Took three hours and when I went to leave I noticed my window was broken, I went back in to ask the manager about it, he came out to look at it and told me that they were not responsible for the window being like that. It was dislodged form the track and loose; I clearly had not been driving around with my window in this condition. I asked him if they were going to repair what they had done and he proceeded to posture up into my face and yell at me, telling me how dare I accuse him of doing that. Went here twice. Never again. First time was for a groupon oil change. The following night my oil light came on. Checked the oil. Bone dry. Had to have it towed back there. They didn't secure the oil filter. Oil drained out and was all over the under carriage. Went a second time (I bought 2 groupons) thinking they had a bad day, for oil and inspection. They told my I had a headlight bulb out and want 62 DOLLARS to fix it and if I didn't pay they would fail me. After I let them slide on the first incident they repay me with this complete bend over. I came into this Midas when my vehicle started to mis-fire on 93N. The "check engine light" was flashing and the car was running rough at driving speed and idle. The staff was friendly and was told it would be awhile for them to look at my car. One hour goes by and finally one of the mechanics pulls my car into an open bay. The front desk associate informs me that he cannot look at anything until I agree to a $100 diagnostic fee, which includes hooking it up to a scanner to pull the CEL code(s). I was on my way to the White Mountains driving up from Cambridge, MA. Being a long way from home, I had no other choice. I agree to have the diagnostic done. Over an hour they try to "diagnose" the problem with about 20 minutes of it with my car being unattended. The mechanic reports that he could not find the problem. However, minutes later they said it was all four of my fuel injectors have gone bad with a repair quote of... $1,000. I pay what I owe and leave. I drive the 80 miles back home and bring it into an Autozone to have my code checked. The sales person prints out the codes with possible causes. He looks at the codes (4 of them) and advises me to check the spark plugs and wires. Sure enough... one wire was bad. I picked up a set of wires and 4 spark plugs. Totaling $55. Took 30 minutes out of my day to replace them myself and now my car runs without issues. If Midas were to check the most probable cause of the problem they would have figured out it was the spark plug wire. Instead, they were trying to sell me a $1,000 repair on a vehicle worth $1,000. I'll go elsewhere if my car or future cars are in need of attention if I am in the area. read more

I've gotten my last few oil changes done here, and I've had a pleasant experience each time. My most recent oil change was this week, and I just happened to need a little extra work done this time. One of my belts has been squealing a lot since I had them all replaced this past summer, and the shop that did it told me that I needed $180 for a new belt tensioner. I've had a hard time financially, so I haven't paid to fix it yet. I was also upset because my car was totally quiet before I had them put new belts in. However, Midas told me that it was a simple manual adjustment that was needed, and it would hardly cost me anything. Sure enough, my car is quiet once again! They also replaced my old brake fluid (actually needed it) and fixed my center brake light. Everything works as it should now. All of this took well under one hour to complete while I enjoyed a complimentary cold soda and watched TV in the lobby. Best of all, I'm not broke. I have the highest praise for the excellent service provided by your service manager, Brian. After a breakdown on I-89 and tow to the Concord Midas shop on a warm Saturday afternoon, Brian's cool and calm approach got repairs initiated immediately. If the parts had been available for my older model car, he and his crew would have had me on the road that afternoon. Without even being asked, he called several local rental car agencies to help me get home. His concern for my welfare was genuine and it eased my mind in a stressful situation. Brian's follow up over the next few days was excellent, and he got my vehicle repaired and on the road as soon as he could. I brought my car in for its annual inspection. I left to run some errands and on my way back was called by the manager to inform me that I had 2 light bulbs out so I said that I would repair them myself when quoted $25 to replace the bulbs, but was informed that my car would fail the inspection and then I would have to bring it back and pay an additional $15 re-inspection fee. I told the manager to do the work, but I was not at all happy with the high cost. I asked for a itemized bill and saw that I was being charge $18 for labor to change out 2 bulbs. I told the manager I was very displeased with the exorbitant labor charge. He immediately refunded me the $18 labor charge. I thanked him and now he will have a return customer. I have been happy with this Midas for quite some time and have never had any issues; until today. Had some work done that required them to have my car for a few hours and before giving them the car, I specifically moved a personal possession into my glove compartment. After I get the car back and home, I go to take out said possession and it was completely gone. Mind you, this was not a case of misplacement nor is this something that ever leaves my car; so I explicitly remember placing it in the compartment this morning. I called up the manager to address the issue to see if he could check with any of the mechanics, but of course, no one owned up to it. He did not handle the accusations well at all and continued to be rude. With all that said: up until this point, I had never had a bad experience with them. They are seemingly decent people and have reasonable pricing on many services. As of today, they have officially lost my future business and anyone one else I know that goes their for their dishonesty and unprofessionalism. This all could have been solved and avoided with the most basic level of customer service. Something to note: They are not all dishonest human beings. Brought my car in on two occasions, once because of an awful noise coming from the brakes, once due to a tire shop telling me my inner tie rods were loose after they aligned the car. The noise turned out to be a bent dust shield and the tie rods were not loose, but there was a slight play in the steering. Don took care of both problems quickly and efficiently, without me having to pay one cent! I have been going there for some time and know Steve from years ago when he was at Manchester Midas and I have never had a problem with any work done on my vehicles. STAY AWAY FROM SUCH STORES. I am writing this to show my utmost disappointment at Midas. I had by brake pads and rotors replaced in the end of 2013 for 600 dollars and have to replace them again now within 2 years. This show how poor, cheap and unreliable Midas products are. When I called to discuss, I was told that rotor and brake pad replacement within 2 years is quite common (concord nh branch) and in another branch, they said its unheard of and it depends on lot of variables (west lebanon, nh branch) (Please note the inconsistency of service knowledge here). The biggest "variable" here is that cheap parts were used, therby wearing off so quickly. Your life time warranty on brake pads mean nothing when you have to get the rotors changed (probably because of the bad combination of cheap brake pads and cheap rotors) every two years. Please take some action towards serving people more honestly, and reliability if possible. read more
