NEGLIGENCE, FALSE TIMELINES & VEHICLE DAMAGE Do not trust this shop with your vehicle. I dropped off my 2006 Tundra on Thursday morning for standard timing belt, water pump, transmission fluid, brakes, and exhaust work. A 1.5-day job turned into a nightmare. The store manager, Lee, admitted to me that they accepted my vehicle job knowing their Master Technician was actively on vacation. Because of this gross staffing issue, someone unfamiliar with the engine timing alignment botched it and had to tear the front of my engine down THREE times. They had my vehicle for 5 full work days. They lied to me about the daily status, causing me to miss a time-sensitive personal business transaction. To make matters worse, they attempted to double-charge me for duplicate cooling system flushes, which they removed after I questioned them. Worse of all, when I finally picked up my truck and drove it home. I found it fresh with fresh damage. The technicians spent so much time leaning on the front of my hood that it is now covered in deep micro-scratches. My rear quarter panel also has fresh dents and scratches from the tools or parts being around the bay. The cut is a small discount at the counter to avoid an immediate corporate standoff, but returning a customer's truck with body damage after 5 full work days of incompetence is completely unacceptable. Fast and easy service. When I took my truck to get the tires rotated, I needed to order a specific part first since Midas didn't have it. That can be common for most places like this. They took care of a tire rotation and an oil change within 45 minutes. read more

Made an appointment for 8am for an oil change, got confirmation from Joe that the appointment was set for 8am. Arrived for the appointment and Joe was working the desk, he could not find my appointment because he never put it into their system. Only offered to drop the vehicle off until they could fit it in, not offering to honor the appointment time he selected. Only explanation was that he "was usually pretty good at getting appointments down". For something as simple as an oil change, he could have given more effort to honor the appointment he confirmed. Dropping a vehicle off for an oil change for an unspecified amount of time because they did not get it scheduled is ridiculous. Like many other reviews, this Midas used to be a good shop with good managment. There are good mechanics at this location, but poor managment is enough to never return after 10+ years using them. read more

Amazing place of business! my husband took our 2011 Chevy Traverse to get brakes, rotors, and calipers the price was steep for everything. The manager worked with us and gave us a huge discount! they even replaced our break fluid for free because they knew we could not afford it. I am not sure what happened to my last review, I wanted to update it as you can tell by the one star rating I am not thrilled. I had issues with my truck pulling to the side when I put on the brakes and took it here. I had the lifetime brakes installed and they replaced some other parts. The brakes started pulling again and I returned the truck and pads on one wheel were replaced and a brake line. They still pulled and one wheel got extremely hot. They replaced another brake line and it seemed to help. My pulling issue never went away completely and this morning I pulled up to a stop sign and could smell something hot. On inspection I found the right front brake smoking. I have the lifetime brakes but really not sure I want to throw more money at this shop. Very disappointed read more

I was severely overcharged $279. for 2 wheel studs on a 2005 Honda Civic. I could have done the job for about $5. for just 2 wheel studs, or if I wanted to replace the entire hub with 4 wheel studs and a bearing I could have spent a whopping $35. for the parts and the job would have only taken me about 5 minutes to complete. I won't ever go back to this place, what a rip off. read more

To my fellow Jeep Wrangler owners: Coon Rapids Midas does it again!! If your Jeep leaks from the windshield frame into in car & down your leg, Midas has just the fix. Yes, Midas replace all the wore out weather stripping at the top & where the hinge is at the bottom. No more water inside & soft top fits much better. Now to the Uber & Lyft drivers who like to write bad reviews while being in the confines of your parents basement. Do you really believe that you can just stroll in on a Saturday morning at 10:00 & think Midas will drop everything & work on your car? It is called an appointment!! Try making one like the rest of us. I saw this first hand one morning & couldn't believe the attitude that was being giving to the counter guy. Suddenly without warning, my 2007 Toyota Corolla with 160,000 plus miles began making an incredibly loud clanging noise as if someone were banging on a metal washtub with a spoon. We managed to get the car home from Kwik Trip and called Midas of Coon Rapids. We were told we could bring the car in without any appointment. We did. It was looked at almost immediately upon arrival. It was determined that the heat shield had apparently rusted off, causing the noise from the vibration. At first, the Midas mechanic was expected to just remove the heat shield entirely. But, as it turned out, he was able to jury-rig a strap to reattach the heat shield, ending the noise. The service manager had explained that to replace the heat shield would involve removing the gas tank in addition to several thousand dollars in parts and labor. In short, I was charged just the minimum lift fee. The entire procedure was done quickly and professionally and at my convenience. This Midas team are total rock stars! I was hearing and feeling a knocking sound on my way home from the gym on the front left side of my car. I assumed I had a flat tire and pulled over, but found there was nothing wrong with my tire. I continued on a 13 minute drive him with the knocking getting worse and the steering wheel vibrating. I deduced it was a shock and took it to Midas to get it checked out. Long story short, they checked out my car and found I had a LOOSE TIRE! It's a newly bought used car so I guess the people I bought from didn't check the tires?? I had issues with my 1999 minivan and they did an awesome job figuring out what was wrong, and fixed it without any issues. Keith was very good with keeping me posted on what was going on and called me every time there was something going on that I wasn't aware of. He spent so much extra time calling around to find the right part that was needed to fix my van. They also took me into the shop to let me see exactly what was wrong with my vehicle and the mechanic showed me everything that was going to be fixed. No other place has ever taken me into the shop and let me see under my vehicle what was wrong before it was actually fixed. I've gained lots of confidence in this Midas and feel comfortable bringing any of my vehicles here. read more

Arrived for oil change at 8:00 am, was told it would be hours. Called for a ride home and when ride arrived our vehicle was pulled into the Bay. Since ride drove 10 miles to pick up, the vehicle was left behind. Offered to pay before we left and were told we could not, but that we could call to take care of bill over the phone. When we called back a know it all smart ass who talked over my husband just kept saying we could not pay over the phone, and we had to come in person. After many minutes of frustration because we were already in Cambridge, he finally conceded and said he would have the original guy call us back. It took over an hour, and a spineless text message was sent. Midas, I don't care if your short staffed.. we can deal.. but teach your staff some manners, and understand we have choices. We have been customers for many years and now moving on. Work ethic can not be transferred via osmosis... it must be taught and bad behavior INEXCUSABLE! When taking my 83 year old mother to the doctor I realized her blinker wasn't working. I didn't want her driving without a blinker so I called 3-4 auto businesses to get it fixed that same day. They either didn't have the bulb or said they were too busy to fix it. I called Midas. They told me they could fix it and to stop in when we were ready. When we got there, someone came right out and took care of it. It took them less than 10 minutes to fix it and we were on our way. Everyone there was so nice. The person on the phone, the person at the desk, the person who replaced the bulb. Would definitely use them again for any service. Not very often you leave someplace feeling good because you were treated well. Very happy! read more

I made an appointment online, then went in for my appointment the next day, only to find out that something went wrong and it didn't go through. Rather than having me reschedule (which I was totally willing to do), they got me in anyway, and this was at 5:30, when they wouldn't normally even take appointments! We found a leak and they were able to fit us in quick on a Saturday before our 800 mile road trip. 2 hours later and $25 they popped a few clamps on our radiator and off we went. Brought our car to Coon Rapids Midas a couple of days ago when we were hearing strange noises. Everyone there is very pleasant and helpful. We were told they were very busy but would at least look at it. Instead they had it all fixed and sent us on our way before we even expected them to look at it. I used their online appointment scheduler and the final screen said that someone would contact us in 1 business hour. Being that it was 8pm when I made the appointment, I assumed we would hear back the next day. I specifically checked "phone call" for preferred contact method because it was my husbands truck and my email. We show up at the beginning of the time frame after not hearing from anyone, only to be told that they emailed us and said they didn't have anything available at all. My husband showed them the email in bright red letters saying "this customer wishes to be called" and they just said "well I don't have the people" when there were two other employees sitting in an office. I come from a long history of working customer service and if you screw up on something, you should try to amend it! Definitely will not be coming back here again. My experience is the total opposite from the other reviews. I am a Lyft driver and came for my inspection at this location because it's close to my day job. Midas failed my vehicle in 3 areas - rear tires, (which I knew was an issue) rear brakes, (supposedly worn to 1mm and a caliper issue) and low coolant, each of which they obviously offered to fix for me. However, since this was not a location close to home, I declined and said I would bring it to my mechanic that has been working on our vehicles 15+ years. Imagine my surprise and annoyance upon picking up my vehicle from my mechanic and having them tell me there were NO issues with it. The rear brakes were at 5-6mm, and the coolant level was perfect. I was able to forward that documentation to Lyft and they passed my vehicle, but I am out $38 for the failed inspection at Midas and $105 to my mechanic for a proper inspection. I suspect 2 things with Midas - one is that since I'm a woman they felt they could take advantage of me, (The male Uber driver in front of me had his car pass...) and second, that Midas has a pretty good gig being one of the "certified" shops that drivers need to take their cars to. They basically have us over a barrel since we need inspections in order to drive. Either that, or they just are not knowledgeable enough to perform a routine inspection. I'm thankful that Lyft was able to work with me, and strongly caution anyone who goes here for an inspection to get a second opinion!! read more

My truck wouldn't start after a stop in Anoka...suspected a starter after a new battery didn't fix it. Had it towed to Midas and they got it in right away. 30 minutes later they had a diagnosis of a corroded positive battery wire to the starter. Simple and affordable estimate sold me on having them do a few other things they found. Heard good things about Brad and Matt from the neighborhood, I agree - great guys! read more
