The staff at this location go above and beyond to make sure you are taken care of. I really trust them with my car, they don't upsell you or take advantage of you. As a woman, I usually feel vulnerable at car repair shops, but not here. I came in once stating I needed a new radiator, which is what a different shop said I needed. The guys at Midas let me know that I didn't need a new radiator, and fixed my issues for much less. This is just one example of quite a few wonderful experiences I have had here. Curtis is a very skilled and experienced mechanic, and Junior is great at making sure you feel comfortable and understand the repairs you need. Great team all around! I know we all feel very vulnerable when it comes to car repairs and auto shops....well, I have great news for you...this Midas (with JR Hamilton in charge) has made me a life-long customer!! Earlier today I went in with a hellacious noise coming from under my hood. After a quick look and listen, I was informed that the radiator fan on my 12 year old car had possibly become chipped/damaged and a piece was being circulated around with the fan causing the terrible sound. Also, that my serpentine belt (which I already knew was approaching it's final hours) needed to be replaced. Junior (Mr. JR Hamilton, the manager) presented me with a fair and reasonable quote and totally acceptable repair timeframe. After a bit of competitive research, I approved the quoted repairs. Well, imagine my concern when a few minutes later JR asked me to come out to the shop (USUALLY a BAD $$$ sign) and showed me the car up on the lift. But (and here's the GREAT news) it wasn't the fan blade at all, but a piece of foreign plastic debris which had flown up under the car and become lodged in the fan rotation housing! So, instead of the high dollar (to my budget anyway) repair I had authorized, I was thrilled to pay only for the replacement of the serpentine belt and paid less than a third of what I had approved/expected!!! How many shops would do that??? Unfortunately, I believe many. if not most, would have gone ahead and changed out the part, charged me the approved amount and then laughed all the way to the bank. I am totally delighted that Junior has a very strong sense of Right and Wrong and his impeccable morals have made me a life-long customer. His honor and integrity deserve to be rewarded and you can take it from me, if he'd treat me like this, he'll treat you the same way!! Honesty in a repair shop...what a concept!!! read more

One can never really know if mechanics are telling you the truth or just trying to con you and make a buck. I normally take my Nissan to Bankson Nissan, and Bankston recommended $1,400 of repairs. I took it for first time to Midas / JR and they looked at it for free (their normal policy) and said they did not see why Bankson was recommending those repairs. JR showed me what they did NOT find, and explained that they thought my car looked great considering the mileage. So glad JR was truthful and did not try to just sell me unneeded, costly repairs. I will definitely take my car here in the future rather than Bankston. read more

Let me preface by saying I have not had a major repair done at this location; however, I have been twice, once for an inspection, and just recently for a battery problem, and both times the Midas on NWHY & Abrams did not try to upsell me, or tell me there was anything falsely wrong with my automobile. I know basically nothing abour car repair. When my car didn't start the other day, I assumed I had a dead battery, and was prepared to purchase a new one. JR told me the connection was loose, tightened it, and did not charge me for the visit. This kind of honesty is refreshing. When something does go wrong with my aging car, I will be much more likely to trust what they have to say the problem is. Thank you for not nickel and diming, and I will return whenever I need service. read more

Well I tried. They have a Midas Groupon available for a $17 oil change with an extra "fee" for synthetic. I thought it was worth the shot. When I asked what the fee was he said it was $17 off the full price charge of $70. Since I already paid the 17 to Groupon it would come out to full price... Luckily there was another customer who said he was quoted a $30 charge. I understand you might be understaffed but don't participate in a Groupon if you're going to blatantly rip a potential customer off. This is one place I won't be coming back to. read more

The first time I went to Midas, things went okay. I went back when I couldn't get my keys out of the ignition. I also asked them to put some freon in the a/c and change the oil. I was told that my brakes needed to be repaired emergently and it would cost $850. Since I didn't have a clue what brakes cost, I didn't know this was double the going rate. They didn't finish by closing and gave me a ride home Within 3 minutes on the computer, I knew I had been overcharged. So, when I picked up my car, I asked for the brakes. I showed them to others who said they did not need to be replaced as there was 80% of them still left. And what about the key stuck in the ignition? He said it would take $1000 to fix it. After the brake experience, I didn't go for it and got a mechanic-in-training to do it for $30. And what about the a/c? The Midas folks said that there was an electrically-controlled door that changed the flow of air from heat to a/c that wasn't working. Said it would cost $1400 to fix it. Again, I didn't go for it. I drove that car without a/c for months because I couldn't afford it. Finally, got a good recommendation (see D S & J) and they said it just needed freon. It cost $55. I did leak out and it cost $289 to get the leaks fixed. By the way, both Just Brakes, Subaru and D S and J looked at the paperwork from Midas about what they said was wrong with the a/c and they all said it was completely bogus. These people defrauded me of $850 and very nearly defrauded me of $2400 more, if I had fallen for what they said. They are completely dishonest and I am still considering suing them. read more

The good: they got me in right away and charged a very modest amount to fix a simple exhaust system issue. I was expecting hundreds for the repair bill, but they got it done for less than 50. The bad: They tried to slip in a $100 fee to change two tail light bulbs. The estimate literally dropped by over one hundred dollars when I asked them to let me fix the tail light on my own. read more

I called in to get a price for a thermostat replacement. They gave me a lowball for $145, and had me wait 45 minutes to get my car checked (after being told to come in a hour after call time). Once I was done waiting, they came back with an estimate for my thermostat (which I already was aware of the diagnosed problem) totaling to just under $500.... so I quickly said, "thanks, but no thanks" and had my car returned smelled like B.O. First time Midas goer. I received a coupon for an oil change, which I'm severely overdue for, from a local drug store. The coupon said nothing about making an appointment so I go in around 11am and the man at the counter looks up and says "Yea?" Before I'm even 2 feet in the door. I walk up the counter and explain to the man that I'd like an oil change and he said it would e 45 min to an hour wait before they could service my car. I found it a bit odd due to the lack if anyone but the man at the counter in sight. Not other cars or people. I told him that was fine and he said ok. We went to grab food up the road and returned in 45 minutes. Only to be greeted by a different person who quoted the same time. I'm positive that this lack of customer service, internal communication and professionalism has made it to where I will not be returning. I would rather pay full price for decent service than discounted for subpar staff. read more

DO NOT TAKE YOUR VEHICLE HERE I REPEAT DO NOT GIVE THESE ASSHOLES YOUR BUSINESS I took my wife's truck here to get a quote on fixing her exhaust manifold.(the cat separated at the pinch weld) I'm no idiot when it comes to cars, i'd already looked up the flag hours on replacing the part,(2 hours) and how much i could get the part for (270-1300 depending on make). So i scheduled an appointment to have them look at it and give me a quote. i called ahead of time and they told me they couldn't honor my appointment. They were too busy. I drove by and they were just sitting around. I made another appointment for the next day. i came in and they had no idea what i was talking about. They drove my wife truck to the lift and literally 30 seconds later told me they couldn't repair it without replacing the part.(but you didn't have time for this yesterday!?) I informed the guy that i had already told them they would more than likely have to replace it, and asked how much they would charge me. After about 20min clicking away on his computer, the guy comes out and tells me he found me the cheapest price around for me; $1368.xx. I laughed in his face. 1038.98 for the part and 330 for labor. Needless to say i left. The quick stop across the street was much more professional despite the appearance of the building. Point blank, these guys are crooks. I called the stealership and they would sell me the part for 1038.98, yes, but they even told me it was cheaper to get it from someone other than the dealership. I asked them the price of labor to replace it. AT THE DEALERSHIP, ONLY 220 labor. Sounds to me like the guy at the front desk was trying to make up for his two older mechanics smoking cigs instead of working by charging me for all their pay. By the way, That place across the street, final cost $580 after part. Held all my appointments, called me back, and genuinely wanted my business. read more

I just had the best oil change experience ever. I received a coupon from Tom Thumb for an oil change from Midas and I thought I'd give them a try. Normally when I go to an oil change place, they tell you all these other things need to be done and push you hard on them. Midas did my oil change and then let me know items they found during their check, gave me a print out of how much (total) each would be, and then ranked them in order of importance. No pressure to get them done and simply stated that they'd love to do them for me if and when I wanted. Very nice people, clean inside, and he gave me coupons for my next oil changes. BTW, if you do 4 oil changes there, you get the 5th free. read more

They remembered me by name and got my car fixed up quickly and backed off of things I said I would do myself (little things like the light above my license plates for my state inspection). It's not easy to find an honest mechanic, but I have to say Jr., the manager at this Midas, is incredibly honest. There's an obvious response bias when it comes to reviewing auto shops. I know it sucks when you go to a shop for an oil change and find out there are more problems to fix, but you really can't blame the mechanic for it-mechanical things wear out. The truth is: every time I've brought a vehicle into this shop I've received quick, reliable service. In fact, when I needed a new tire wall Junior actually referred me to the Firestone across the street because they had the tire wall in stock, while Midas would have to order it. He did this to save me time, and I have a really hard time thinking many other auto shops would sacrifice profit for customer's time. I was a long time patron of another reliable auto shop until it shut down a year ago. I looked around at several other places and am happy to have found junior. I'd recommend this shop to anyone-give it a try, I guarantee you'll click with Junior. read more
