I hate leaving bad reviews but I'm going to have to this time and I am sick of it. This happened a few month and no, don't contact me about my review and try to speak to me about resolving anything. Nothing will resolve this other than walking away from this shop and going somewhere that I feel respected in. In the span of 2 years, every SINGLE time I come here, there's always a problem with your car. If you have a nail in your tire, don't even come here. One nail in the tire to them means changing all tires, which is so stupid. My turning point was when I just wanted my light bulb in my car changed and the guy told me they couldn't do it and that they had to "check my car" before doing anything. I said, "okay?" So we walk inside and he said that I had "something" in my hair and he "took it off", to which I froze because like wtf?? Then I sit down and wait for him and he asks me if I'm a nurse because of my uniform and I replied "No". He proceeds to say somewhere along the lines of "Oh okay, I just thought you knew CPR" and I said "No, I don't know how". He then says something about practicing on him and that was that. I was livid and wanted to go home. As a woman, it's hard enough as it is to get honest service! I contacted a guy who details my car and explained to him the situation and he said LEAVE RIGHT NOW. I will do it for free, don't even waste your time. It's really sad that I wanted something so simple, but I couldn't even get that without being played. read more

This place has swapped out my tires twice forcing me to buy two new tires in which I already had warranty for then continued to ask me if I let people drive my car . I'm a single mom with chronic health issues and I have told them consistently I work two jobs just to feed my kid and keep the lights on ! These people were empty when I arrived took 30 minutes to (realize) I had a different tire wen actually they swapped out my tire with a even wrist tire of a completely different brand I walked out to my car realizing that they put on a good year tire instead of the one they told me that I paid for This place is full of liars (eddy) the manager is full of shit they run a theft and fraud business and need to be closed immediately read more

I am grateful and impressed with the customer service at the Daly City Midas. Thanks to the awesome and kind staff, Ronnie and Brian, as well as Santiago, I've had my tire repaired on a rainy last minute Sunday appointment. I woke up at 11am and noticed a nail stuck in the rear passenger tire. Sure enough, i turned on my car and noticed the tire pressure indictor on. It's the third time this year that I've had a nail in one my tires! (much credit to the high traffic and heavy construction that I deal with when I drive in San Francisco). So I call Midas shortly and they were able to accomdate me with an appointment at 2:30pm, that afternoon. Long story short, I brought in my car and the tire was repaired in about an hour. I'm not one to normally bring down the reputation of other people's businesses, but I've had two extremely negative experiences at this shop. First time -- I needed a brake booster replaced on a vehicle and I brought my car in to be repaired. The repair was a little pricey ($800 or so), but regardless got the work done. I brought my car home in the afternoon. Woke up the next morning to go to work and my car battery died. So I towed it back to the shop. The battery died because they reset the brake light sensor wrong and they stayed on even if the brake wasn't pressed. They "fixed it" and I went home. Next day -- same problem. So ended up going to the shop 3+ times to get something simple fixed. Second time -- My clutch went out on my vehicle and I needed to get it fixed. I dropped it off, and I told them the problem and asked for a quote. The cashier/representative said that I he needed to run an engine diagnostic on the car to see the problem, before he could give me a quote.. I agreed, because I estimated the cost of the repair to run around $800 - 1k (which were other quotes I received). I call back the next day, and they agreed that I need the clutch replaced, and it's will cost $1500 for 5 hours of labor and $250 - $400 in parts. So now I'm out $128 for the diagnostics to be told what I already knew and have to take my car to another shop to get repaired. Avoid this place -- they do a poor job on repairs, their customer service is equivalent to a McDonalds at 2am, and their prices aren't close to being as competitive as other shops in the area. read more

DO NOT GO TO THIS LOCATION. so my wife took one of our cars to get an simple oil change, when they were done this idiot named Jesus told her the car needed a new drain plug ($2.99) part because supposedly was leaking, witch it wasnt and tryed to up sell it for $100 lol. So that was a no go, as she was driving home she noticed now the check engine light was on, so she went back hoping they could just plug in the scanner to see why it went on. But when she got there this other dumb ass named ronny brown said to her in order to check it, it would take another hour and she would have to pay $169. I bought a used Honda CRV at the end of February from a Honda dealer. Called numerous times to get an appointment that fit my schedule but to no avail. Drove past Midas numerous times and decided to give them a try. The Midas representative who assisted me was very knowledgeable. He explained to me what needed to be done and why it needed to done in order to keep my car in tip top shape. I plan on returning to Midas for future car maintenance. read more

I had taken my car here before where the regional manager had helped me and he was really professional. I thought I'd found a place where I could get honest service and a good price for my oil changes based on my first experience here. Unfortunately I was wrong though. I came here yesterday for my second oil change with them. Their mechanic lied saying that I needed new spark plugs and the cashier tried to get me to get the service. I know that this was a flat out lie about needing new spark plugs because I just got new spark plugs for my car last year from The Garage who does all my car work outside of oil changes. I don't know if they said that because I'm female and they thought they could pull a fast one on me or that their mechanic was just trying to make some extra money out of me or that their mechanic has no idea what a spark plug looks like when it needs to be replaced. Either way though they were lying about my car needing new spark plugs. I didn't want to make a scene though so just declined the offer for unnecessary expensive work on my car from them. Midas, seriously...just stick to oil changes and quit lying to your customers about work that their cars don't need. read more

Updated review: AVOID THIS PLACE. WOMEN SPECIALLY. I gave these guys another try because I live right across from them (convenience). And they did a pretty good job at installing my new tires. But it also happened that I needed a new Rim. They quoted me $498 dollars for a USED rim (1 rim) and a little over 700 for a new one. I called the DEALERSHIP and they quoted me $324 for a new one! And My mechanic quoted me $94 dollars for a used Rim. What a fucking rip off. No thanks guys. I understand you need to charge me more for a rim, but 400% more? Never ever recommending you guys. I will tell all my neighbors about your shady business practices. Milton, Rob, Josh.... Shame on you guys! The technicians here have questionable integrity which makes the untrustworthy. Brakes are covered under warranty but they do not do check the brakes regularly for customers who drive a lot of miles. They allow the customer to wear down the brakes so they can continually charge for pads and rotors. Unfair business practice the customer looses every time this happens and these kind of employees lessen the value of the business as a whole. read more

Before going to this place I asked how long it would take to finish an oil change the guy said about 45 minutes to 1 hour and then I went there 12:55pm and until 1:55 I patiently waited they have not started working on my van. This was literally my first time going to any type of vehicle maintenance place. Everyone here was super helpful and kind. I needed to get my brakes checked, and replaced because they kept making a sound. They checked it for me and told me there was nothing wrong, my rotors were just a bit rusted. A lot of the reviews on here mentioned Midas and employees trying to cheat you out of your money, however I experienced the complete opposite. The employee that helped medidn't at all try to cheat me or trick me. He told me what was wrong and recommended not to change anything because I really didn't need it and it would be a waste of money. I ended up getting my brakes flushed. I would highly discourage and not recommend going to this Daly City Midas. The last two times I'd brought my car in for an oil change, there would be a new issue brought on by or related to the oil filter. The last time, there was an oil leak due to a loose oil filter housing, brought on by poor/incompetent service from this Midas location. Summary - Ronnie at Daly City Midas - fantastic, extraordinary, 5-star!!! Manager at Redwood City - the opposite - 0 zero stars and an embarrassment to Midas. Details below: I had a horrific experience with the Midas in Redwood City who fixed my front brakes (which then required more work in Chicago 6 weeks later). When I returned to Redwood City Midas the front brakes needed to be redone (calipers that were replaced were leaking!) and the manager would not honor any warranty because it was 2 weeks past what he said was a 3-month cut-off. Not only did he want to charge me $800 to redo the Midas work he was rude, condescending and WRONG. I was appalled. He then warned me that I could not leave or my life would be in danger (aka - I might go elsewhere!) He was right. I then went to Daly City where the manager Ronnie understood the situation and did everything possible to successfully help me get my brakes fixed with the warranty (which reads one year on the paperwork). Not only was he respectful and helpful, the Daly City shop was a joy to be around, very upbeat and positive - completely the opposite of the atmosphere in Redwood City. They have a popcorn machine and drinks and while I was there a few customers came in to bring food to the workers for the holidays. Not surprising, they are well liked. How two shop owned by the same company (Midas) can be so different is mind-boggling. Thanks to Ronnie and Daly City Midas, I have a much higher regard for the Midas name and wish they would do something to reward those who give them a good name (and get rid of shops that do the opposite such as Redwood City). Do not go here to get your tires replaced. I took my Nissan Versa here about a month ago to get all four tires replaced. Once my car was done being serviced I left the lot and almost immediately my tire sensor light came on. Unfortunately by the time I picked up my car the shop was already closed so I took it home and parked it. The very next day one of the tires on my car was completely flat. I just got brand new tires- how?! I took the car back to them and they told me I must have caught a nail on the way home. Keep in mind my drive home was only 3 minutes away. I thought what are the odds of this but I had a warranty on the tires so I was only charged $40.00 to replace the tire. When my car was done being serviced the second time I drove off the lot and once again my tire sensor light came on. This time the shop wasn't closed so I turned around and took my car right back. The guy at Midas tries telling me "Oh you must have caught another nail in your tire again". I call BS. Thankfully one of the mechanics insisted on checking the car out again (he knew something wasn't right) and lifted it because the guy at the front desk was just trying to put air in the tire again and send me home. He also mentioned that "I'll probably be back". Why don't you do your job then and fix the issue? I just don't understand. Keep in mind the dude at the front desk just kept talking about how he injured his arm and how he's in so much pain, had to get surgery, and he went on and on. Dude please just fix my car and let me go home. Later I get a call from him and it turns out the valve stem was somehow broken. They charged me an additional $40.00 for the valve stem even though I believe they were the ones who were responsible for breaking it in the first place. My tires weren't losing air that quickly when I first took it to them. I was done with them at that point so I just paid for the service and left. I will not be returning ever again. First of all, NOT closed, but everyone would be better off if they were. Also, they open super early (8am). 2 days prior, I emailed requesting a synthetic oil change quote. Online it says they reply within 4 business hours. I didn't hear anything so 2 days later I called in and thought I was lucky to get an appointment the same day (I wasn't). Excited to have a productive lunch break & with my online coupon in hand, I show up to the empty office where I am told to wait...then I am served after a man who also has an appointment at 12 for an oil change, that arrived after me. That was my first problem... Then, as I'm waiting, the man helping me (Melvin or something) prints out a check list of maintenance I desperately "need" following my very small comment about the price of the oil change. (I wouldn't have complained if I had gotten my quote, or if he told me prior to the moment of paying). Also, how do you know about maintenance my car needs? You haven't even looked at it...That was my second issue.--Mind you, this vehicle had just been seen by my trusted mechanic back home prior to being driven up to San Francisco from San Diego. He said the car was perfect, just to get an oil change when the miles are equal to the sticker.--So all of this was really unexpected, and I knew this guy was trying to milk me. Anyway, as I'm sitting down reading a book Melvin comes over and hands me this list and says it's maintenance I should get "If I can afford it." Wow, I didn't say I couldn't afford it, just commenting on my surprise at the price for an oil change, for I KNOW I could've gotten a better deal somewhere else, also because I failed to get a price quote! The only reason I didn't go somewhere else is because I'm up for an oil change and new to the city with a car. I didn't want to come here, but I just wanted my car taken care of promptly. Very irritated and not to mention, offended. Definitely NOT coming here again. Oh yeah, those assholes even damaged my car. They parked too close to the pillars used to lift the cars, then repeatedly opened my door into it making dents. When I called they refused to listen and said I did it. As a new driver, and + a girl, I am not at all hands on mechanic or a car fixer so I had to come here to change something minor. and I was charged 425 dollars. unfortunately, at the other shop they told me they would charge me 120 dollars for the same thing. I have mentioned to them that I do not know what the problem was, and must've seemed like a perfect candidate to screw. and Guess what? Midas did a great job at ripping me off. I've seen Midas in Daly City for a long time but never had a chance to use their services. Finally last week my friend asked me to take her car in for an oil change. The manager was very friendly and professional, and my friend's car was ready while I waited. The manager asked if I could complete an in-store survey, and I got it a 5 stars highest rating. Just a few days later, her car over heated and broke down in the middle of the freeway and had it towed to an auto shop. They found out the cause was insufficient coolant, and it cost her over $700 to repair and might need a new engine. Midas' oil change includes checking all fluid level. Apparently, the mechanic overlooked it. Double check your fluid levels before you leave the shop. read more

I took my car for a free brake inspection and ended up with a bill of almost $500.00 for only one axle even thou it is listed on the board at $249.00, lifetime warranty. The people working in this place are all thugs with no scrupulous or conscience. When I asked questions they were rude and unwilling to help you out. To make the story short, I ended up upset, with a huge bill and screws in my tires. They place the screws strategically on the side of the tire so as to make me buy new ones. UNBELIEVABLE!! BUT TRUE !! They are thugs, not decent working Americans, working for a living. I will never set foot on a Midas place as long as I live. I have and continue to share my nightmare in any way I can, so as to help people make a smart decision. Worst place ever. I'm very disappointed! My first attempt to do an oil change was on Sunday at 4:30. Oil change doesn't take more than 10 minutes. They denied service on Sunday at 4:30. I came back next day, at around 1:30, they informed wait time is about 2 hours. I came back again on Wednesday, they told me they don't use my Groupon for service. Really nice guy working the counter. Brakes were in need of some sort of repair. After about a half hour waiting for them to take a look I got the word. About $750 in brake repairs. OUCH!!! So I called my local garage in my old hometown. $450 for the same repairs. Ummm, yeah I am cheap enough to drive two hours on shot brakes, whats the worst that could happen??? In the end, if you have a local guy you trust you are always going to get a better price. If you don't I would go with a chain like this one. read more

Took my car in a few weeks back to get my brakes checked since they felt a little awkward. Turns out my brake pads were cracked or something, who knows. Anyways, $200 and three hours later they were fixed. Luckily they were able to get me in that day, so no complaints about that. I give them two stars because upon seeing my car at home, (after my mom picked it up for me), I found a zip-tie on my right rear hubcap that was not there when I dropped it off. No one said anything about it, so I wondered why it was there in the first place. I found out two days later when I was driving through Millbrae and my hubcap fell off and was only secured by one zip-tie. They broke my hubcap during the service and didn't bother to tell my mother about it. Thanks Midas, because if I would have gone on the freeway and it flew off and killed somebody/caused an accident, I would have been one happy customer. So now, I have two zip-ties securing my broken hubcap thanks to Midas. Good job, guys! read more

Recently someone recently stole my Catalyst so I wasn't able to drive it. I had no idea how to handle the situation so i called midas and they let me know they could definitely help me out. Check in was simple with a worker named Milton who then checked the car and noticed they had tore a few other things as well. He layed out the plan and started researching what catalyst fits with my specific motor. He was very thorough and ordered the part right away. The car was ready soon after then. Super pleased with my experience here and I'm glad I came to this Midas as Milton was very efficient and helpful. read more
