Will never go there again. Took my car there for a Coolant Leak. Spent $483 and several hours to get it fixed. Took it home, filled up the reservoir tank with coolant, and it immediately leaked. So, after $483, they didn't bother to fill it up with coolant, and didn't fix the leak. It was a 100% waste of time and money. read more

What a terrible place! Not coming back here again! First, labor costs are too high. Second, for any replacement parts they tell you one price and charge you for amore expensive one. And lastly, you have to ask for a mileage reset and a next due sticker since they're upset you didn't get the suggested expensive services and didn't finish the job you paid for already! UPDATE! ROB, THE FROMT DESK PERSON MESSAGED ME HERE AND SAID I WAS TOO CHEAP!! IM FUMING!! So rude. Absolutely TERRIBLE customer service. That's so bad. I will note the owner also message and called right after the incident. That was nice. I will NEVER EVER EVER GO BACK THO!! I have never given such a low rating, but Midas warrants it. I was told to come right over to get my muffler fixed......but the mechanic decided not to come to work that day. So Rob, the front desk guy, pulled my car in and took a look at it (all before he even told me there was no mechanic on duty). Rob said they could either replace my muffler and gasket or he could cut the pipe and weld it together for cheaper. I would prefer my car gets fixed the right way! He then quoted me $381.33 (later getting it fixed for only $197). I said I needed another estimate since that was more than I was prepared to pay. He didn't say a word, but stormed off and pulled my car out. Terrible customer service at a terrible price! This place is by far the biggest scam operation I have come across in a great while. I paid $20 for a brake inspection on a car with only 20k miles on it. The initial quote was for $950. When I almost spit out my coffee, they said 'wait, let me apply the discount', and presented me with a second written quote for $872. I was still incredulous, and he said he could call his parts guy and see if he could get pads and rotors cheaper. He pretends to make a call and prints out a third quote for $750. I took the quote and left. Go to Nissan this morning. Front breaks and pads are fine, rear breaks only, $350. There was a sign on the Midas dealer saying they are about to move locations. I'd advise you find out where the new location is and avoid it. read more

Are used this location to get new brakes for a car, they charge $675 for all new brakes and rotors. All had to be replaced less than 15,000 miles later. I don't trust him I don't think they even change certain parts. They are a theft ring. Do not give his company another penny of your money. I now have to spend another $650 just to keep the brakes working. These scam artists need to be put out of business do not give them any UPDATE as you can see mitis responded to my poor review of them saying they are sorry for what I am countered and they will send me a private message to try to get to the bottom and fix the situation. They can't send me a private message they don't have my contact information or my email address. This is yet another reason to stay away from this location and this company. They are trying to cover their butts. Obviously no one should ever set foot or give business to this location again they don't know how to work on your cars and the prices are 40 percent higher. read more

NO Stars, They don't honor their warrenties: 6 months with brake pads and rotors and i'm buying new ones already with less than 6k miles.....why can't they be turned? answer - to thin-, NAPA part- why is it too thin after 6k? because they buy crap. within the last year I had new rear wheel bearings done, now (less than 10k miles) I need new ones, so I go back and tell them the wheel bearings are bad, they said it the other side, not the ones replaced. I said It looked at elsewhere. UPDATE: yep bad bearings, and i'm stuck paying for them again because the side they said was bad wasn't and the side covered under warraqnty isn't and the noise is so bad, i'm 50 miles away and had to have them done. my advice- go elsewhere, this place will just rip you off read more

I went to this Midas for a simple oil change. With the oil change came a complimentary tire rotation. Of course I took advantage of this. After I received my truck I took it down the road and heard a ticking noise (Which it didn't make before) I called and explained this to them, they told me to bring it back. I brought it back, a gentlemen took my car, couldn't hear anything, I took him with me for a ride and right away heard the noise and pointed it out. We got back, he gave it a look and "couldn't find anything". I proceeded to tell them it was a brand new Jeep, in mint condition that was not making any noises before bringing it to their location. The owner and man at the front desks attitude did a complete 360 and began to tell me, "maybe it was just a coincidence my car started making a noise when I brought it in." They treated me as I was dumb! The front desk man told me "well you didn't get the inspection I tried selling you before letting us touch your car". Insinuating because I didn't get a inspection, they were free to mess up my truck so I had to come back and pay to get more stuff fixed. I took my Jeep to Jeep to get it looked at and the guys at Midas knocked my tire weights off. As I suspected. Something soooo small that could have been fixed with better customer service! Instead right away they denied of ever doing wrong and pointed fingers at me. I took my truck to another Midas and they fixed it without question! They did however mention that a lot of people come to their location with complaints from this villa park, north avenue location. Stay clear!! The owner is as rude as they come. read more

Well, had I written this review before my last couple visits to this place it would have had A LOT more stars. Unfortunately, I think this place is goin down hill. I have taken my car here for about 7 years now for oil changes, tire rotation, quick easy things. They are pretty cheap compared to competition and in the past have done a great job. Tell me EVERYTHING that's wrong with me car, which trust me, has always been a lot. And give me a quote on everything as well. They used to always check my anti-freeze right away because my car used to leak it pretty badly, and they knew that because I was a returning customer. The past couple times I've been there though, I've been completely unhappy with service. In the past, if I had come late (after work) they had not only squeezed me in but still did a thorough job. Two oil changes ago- I got there an hour before they closed and they refused to take me. It was a guy I hadn't met before, so I figured they were just busy, and that was that. The next time I went there was at a normal time, they estimated me at about 15 minutes and I was there for about an hour. They gave me a laundry list of things wrong with my car, but I had just had my car fixed by my mechanic friend so I knew half of those weren't legit. I felt like they were scamming me. Again- it was no one I had seen before. This last time I went, I called in the morning to ask when the latest they could take me would be as I work til 5 and was desperate for an oil change. The guy on the phone was very nice, and said that since I called in advance, he could take me if I could get there by 5:20. Of course traffic was not helpful with this and ended up 10 minutes late. The guy I spoke with was very nice about it though. I told him if he couldn't get me in that I completely understood and I'd try again the next day. He said it was no problem and that he'd do it himself and also mentioned that last time I was there they advised me to have a bunch of work done. I asked if he could check that out when he changed the oil, along with checking my anti-freeze, and to do a quick brake inspection and quote me because I knew I needed new brakes and could hear them squeaking. He said it was no problem at all. At this point a guy from the garage came in yelling WHAT ARE YOU DOING?! He was very mad they were going to do my car and the kid up front told him he was going to take care of it. The angry man who reminded me of a meaner "Thor" from Adventures in Babysitting, ended up changing my oil. Now originally they told me 45 minutes for the entire change, inspection and quote.... but 15 minutes later, my car is out front. No paper mats on the floor, like normal, and the guy who did the car didn't even say anything to me. The "helpful" kid up front took my money and said thanks, but I quickly stopped him and asked if the fluids were good and asked about the brakes. He said, "We usually like you to wear them down more to get more money." I informed him that my car was squealing after I took the brake pedal off and he said its because I accelerate too quickly out of my parking spot.... Now, I may know nothing about cars, but I know that's WRONG. Seriously?! They've lost money because I will NOT be going back here EVER again, and definitely not having them do my brakes now. I know they didn't check the brakes because I had my dad look at them and he told me I needed new brake pads and they were already worn down more than they should be. That's pretty effed up to me that they'd give someone that "advice," when it could be a safety issue. And that is why they are getting 1 star. read more

UPDATE: We had our 2010 PT cruiser fixed here in the last year, the ignition coil, spark plugs, and wires were done. The car is *still* running rough. Today, we took it to pep boys in broadview today because it's still dying when going from stopping to accelerating, and without us telling the mechanic anything, he said it's a bad ignition coil, spark plugs and wires. I told them we already had it fixed in the past year and he said then apparently the job wasn't done right. This was said by a master mechanic who evaluated the car. Now we have to get stuck fixing something that wasn't done right by Midas...great. Our Old Alero is still running fine that we had fixed by Amed back in Feb. read more

This is a great Midas location - they will treat you right and stand behind their work. They have the best hours of any repair shop in the area, including Sunday. They were able to successfully trouble shoot and repair an emmissions issue (leaking charcoal canister) on my '01 Pathfinder. I was ready to junk this car, but Rob was able to make repairs at a reasonable expense and in a very timely fashion. Convenient location, clean waiting room and friendly staff make this a win in my book. I can't speak highly enough of the great service this shop provides! My son has a new Jeep Patriot that took a nail in the tire. It was Sunday and most places were closed. I didn't want to plug it myself so I took it here. They were going to charge me a bit over $20 and I thought it was a fair price for the convenience of getting it done quickly. I was in and out in 10 minutes and then they didn't charge me. I went in for an estimate on a muffler. I left with a printed piece of paper showing over $2000 ~for work that Robert (the owner?) insisted I needed done immediately. He told me that my car was not safe to drive, that my axle was about to fall off. He said my power steering could go at any minute. He had me look at the underside of my car and pointed everything that he put on the printed estimate. I decided to get a second opinion. Two days later, I had my car back with a new muffler, nothing else. And I paid a lot less than $2000! read more

I took my car here on a Sunday afternoon after a large rock hit the undercarriage. When I told them what happened, I was told "Well, I'd test drive it, but Prius's suck. . ." I ended the conversation right there and took my business elsewhere. If you drive a Prius---or any other vehicle----you should, too. I was reluctant to take it here in the first place, as I've been overcharged for what turned out to be unnecrsssry work in the past (on a non Prius), so he probably did me a favor. Apparently I need new brakes soon, they took me to my car and showed me and let me know they have specials on brakes all the time but didn't pressure me in any way to get them done there. I brought in a 1961 Jaguar MK IX for a new muffler. This is, of course, not your run -of-the-mill automobile. These guys treated me and my car with a lot of respect. They took time to explain the process for selecting the appropriate muffler, they set a time frame for when the work would be completed, and they set a very reasonable estimate for the cost. Everything went exactly according to plan. I was very, very impressed with the work these guys did. The manager is a consummate professional who balances strong customer service with reasonable expectations. We had previously only had positive things to say about this location. My husband dropped his car off on Saturday morning at 7:30 AM for multiple service items for which he made an appointment several days before. He was told that it would be ready in two hours - which was very important since we had somewhere to be. We decided to go do some shopping at Target about half an hour before the car was supposed to be done. The car was parked outside...in the exact same spot that he had left it. We decided to check in to see if maybe it was done early. Right as we pulled into the lot, the guy was walking out the door towards our car. Turns out, he hadn't started yet since he needed to order the necessary items and they hadn't been delivered. He was about to start the work and it would be ready in an hour. Knowing how long these services take, either the hour was a gross underestimate or the work wouldn't have been done properly. We decided to leave with the car and not have the work done. I'm not sure why the materials were not on site, but next time, it would be nice to inform the consumer either when the car is dropped off or by placing a phone call to advise of any issues or delays. We decided to trade the car in on Monday rather than start spending money on maintenance. Turns out, that was a better deal for us anyway - a brand new car with a nice extended warranty and free maintenance. Regardless, this location has lost a customer and a positive review. It's disappointing because it would have been nice to have some place local to take our other car to in the future. read more

this weekend my husband and i were coming home from work and nearly got into an accident because of my breaks. well we were passing by a sign for $50 off a break job so i decided to stop in and see about getting my car fixed. rob i think he was the manager was able to get me in that day which i really liked. the place was very busy but there was enough room to sit down and have some coffee from the kurig machine and watch some tv on the big flat screen tv in the waiting area. and the waiting area was nicely air condiioned on a hot day so i really did not mind waiting. once it was my cars turn for being fixed, rob set met up with ahmed the mechanic and i couldn't have been any happier. he worked very fast and was courteous to me when i asked questions. while i was waiting in the lobby a lot of customers came in and i noticed rob greeted every customer with a smile and an upbeat attitude which was nice to be around. i will be coming back in september for more work that ahmed suggested such as a major tune up and a cabin filter change. thank you rob and ahmed for your good service and for all the things to keep customers busy like the tv and the coffee machine. there is also a target across the street if you don't feel like waiting inside. now it is a few days later and i am very happy with my new breaks read more
