Avoid this shop. There are other Midas shops in town, I suggest going to those ones. Long story short, due to their poor mechanics and unscrupulous management (a man named "Al"), my truck ended up with $1326 in other repairs. First off, a repair was made on my SUV that i did not authorize (needed a hose installed, but somehow they tried to "fix" a pulley without asking me first), which made my SUV unable to drive. The unauthorized repair would not be reversed by "Al", who left me no alternative but to spend a few hundred more dollars at his shop. A complaint to the BBB was answered by "Al", who made non-factual claims. Later, the initial repair I brought the vehicle in for (simply installing a hose) was faulty- the hose was not secured properly (it fell off) and caused my engine to loose all coolant on the freeway, thus $1326 in repairs and $50 to tow (this is thoroughly documented by the mechanic just down the street from this shop). I am happy to relay the facts to anyone, but bottom line, DO NOT SPEND YOUR MONEY AT THIS MIDAS. Al is not a good person or manager. read more

As a young woman I will not be returning to this shop as I came in a few days ago for my o2 sensors to be changed. Called before hand told them that is what I needed to get done and they said they'd take a look. When I got there I told them again I need my o2 sensors changed so the man told me he needed to "take a look at my car real quick" so we did (he literally just asked for the mileage and looked at the dash and that's it) and then proceeded to simply say I needed an oil change as that is why my service engine soon light was on. I told him no I did not as I just had it changed within the last two months and the light was reset but came back on. Then proceed to tell me that he needed to do an engine diagnostic then. So I left and got a call back saying it's the o2 sensors, was I shocked no since I told him multiple times at this point that that was the reason why the light was on. So now I had to pay nearly 200$ to be told exactly what I came in saying was wrong with the car. And then tried to be told that I needed all this other work including a complete new set of spark plugs and an engine coil which I do not need and was quoted over 5000$ worth of work ($800+ of which is just for the o2 sensors also this does not include the 150$ for the diagnostic) that isn't needed for my car. Y'all saw a young woman come into your shop thinking I didn't know what I was talking about or what was needed on my vehicle and tried to make a pretty penny but that's certainly not happening. read more

Came here by taking an online appointment, the online advertisement was for regular oil change 30+ taxes. I regularly do the oil change at dealership and use the regular oil. When I come here on the appointment, I am straight away told that they would only do synthetic and not regular. This place tries to milk as much as possible and don't give you a choice or listen you. This place is a rip-off! I had my brakes done here and it came with a lifetime warranty. Well, it was time they needed to be done again. When I came in for my appointment, they told me that the pads would be free but I would have to pay for the labor. Ok, that's not a problem. I would be only paying $175.00 for labor. They called me and said that my drums could not be turned again. The person on the phone told me that they would be 79.00 a piece. Again, no problem with that price. I figured out that I would be paying $333.00 plus tax. When I went to pick up my truck, they ended up charging me $561.62. I told them the math didn't add up right. Then they told me that the brake drums were actually $176.00 each. The person that was ringing me up was the same person I talked to on the phone earlier. He denied ever telling me that the brake drums were $79.00 each over the phone. I know what I heard over the phone, and there is no mistaking $176 vs. $79 each! Listen, I've done a lot of brakes over my lifetime - my cars, my family and friends cars. You get the picture. I've even worked at a car manufacturer company for close to 29 years, so I am very familiar with car parts. I know automotive car places locally where they sell drums that retail for 55.00 each for my truck. This place is a complete rip off. Watch out for their warranty! There is no such thing as free replacement. Get every thing in writing before agreeing to it. I don't ever write reviews, but this place is bad I just can't take them doing this to someone else, too. David G UPDATE - I was asked to remove my original post and to come down to the shop so that they could work with me. Ok, I'm glad they wanted to make it right. When I got to the shop, he told me that he could only give me a $74 refund as their computer automatically marks the parts up. He apparently has no control over the price or the computer. Really? I actually checked with the same place they get there parts from and specifically the brake drums they used on my truck. Regular costumer price was 55.00 dollars I'm sure they did not pay that, I know that there will be a mark-up as with any business. But their mark-up is absolutely ridiculous. I was basically gouged. I will NEVER go back to Midas again. I thought I found a trust-worthy place to bring my vehicles too, but they proved me wrong. I came in and I was one of 3 cars in the lot (one car already being worked on) I watched as a stand-by as they were rude to 2 customers and 1 customer over the phone. They used profanity and one man seemed to not be able to remember one thing I told him. He continuously asked for the year make and model of my car after I told him at least 4 times. I have been coming to Midas for about 4 years, roughly since I purchased my 2010 Scion Xb. The associates and technicians have done so well keeping my car up and running at such great and reasonable costs. They have worked on my brakes, replaced my alternator when I wasn't aware it was going out, replaced my water pump and gave me free lifetime warranty on it, and they have one of the synthetic oil change prices around! Anytime I need a quote for a service, they will print one up. I like there are drinks like water and coffee available while customers wait. Midas truly cares for their customers as much as they do caring for their vehicles. As soon as I found my car engine wouldn't start, I immediately contacted AD, the manager. He immediately advised me the next steps in this emergency situation. After I got my battery jumpstarted by the insurance personnel, I took my car to this Midas shop. Sam, the Technician, immediately prioritized my case. He looked into my battery warranty and promptly finished the paper work. Its not only the battery, Chin, the technician, replaced but also checked the other electrical wirings to make sure everything was functioning properly. In an hour time, my car was ready to go home. Ridiculous! I brought in a Midas oil change coupon I got in the mail that clearly states "Midas", had the shop's "full address" printed directly on the coupon, and the shop WOULDN'T honor it. Their claim was that it was a corporate error, so I called corporate and they gave me the total run around. After speaking with over four different people, nothing was resolved. What a JOKE! In March I had a bad converter and needed it replaced. I choose this shop where I purchased a new manifold with the catalytic converter and had it installed. Well not every shop does catalytic converters. So I had to go outside my own mechanic to address this issue. About 3 months ago my truck began to make noise. Come to find out the exhaust manifold that this shop installed had a cracked weld from the manufacturer who we bought it from. Long time customer here. I bring my carS here and have no issues with customer service or auto services. Literally, been here for 10 years at least. Al, Sam, and Adi always treat me well, gives me accurate quotes, let me bother them in customer lounge while they work on my car, cheerful, glad to see me (and I them), and I rarely need to bring car back to rework anything. Adi occasionally texts to see how my car is running, or how the latest service went. Al and Sam are very knowledgeable about cars. It is nice to have these vets as regular contacts. HORRIBLE service, this was seriously the worst car maintenance experience i've had to date in my life! I got a flat tire on a Sunday and this was the only place that was open that I could drive to otherwise I would of never came here. I have a 2014 Mercedes CLA that came with run flat tires originally but I changed them to regular tires not knowing that meant my car didn't come with a spare tire so I was literally stranded to come here. Customer service is non existent. I honestly don't understand how Allen still has a job with all the other bad reviews about him. He is the only person running the business it seems like and is the most cold, un-helpful and slowest person i've ever seen be employed. He wasn't helpful at all about my options. Made me wait 3 hours to have someone even look at my tire to tell me if it was replaceable or not. I walked to have lunch awaiting his call to let me know what happened and he never called. Came back and still no one had even looked at my tire to tell me if they could fix it or not. Finally after calling every 20 minutes to follow up, he tells me they cant fix it and it needs to be replaced and they cant have a new tire there until the next morning. I waited around for almost 5 freaking hours for them to tell me this when it took literally 5 minutes for someone to look at it to tell me if they could patch it or not. None of the staff seemed to be busy or quickly trying to finish services to get to the next person. It seriously blows my mind how any one here has a job. The next morning I had to call twice to get an update on my car. NEVER did they call me to tell me! When I go to pick it up, I check my tire pressure and they over inflated the tire and didnt even fill up the other ones so it would be even... seriously 10 PSI over what its suppose to be and what my other tires were. My car had grease prints all over it and the worst part- I had a brand new $300 piece of luggage in the trunk that I was on my way to go return when I got the flat, that I now can't return because they damaged so badly putting in and out of my trunk!! Can you believe that?! Theres a huge scrape down the side and around the suitcase that damaged it so badly my return got denied. I'm beyond pissed and have no idea how anyone at this location is employed. I am definitely making a complaint to the district manager and company and who ever else I can raise hell to about this. I came to this shop to have my exhaust pipe fixed. It only cost me $320, this is really a good price for me. And the store only A.D is so nice, he gave me a lot of discounts to get this price. Plus, he also gives a free car full inspection! What a great store. Before I come to this store, I also went to some other stores like Firestone, they all give me the cost between 600 to 800 which is too much for me. Only this store gives me the best price and perfectly fixed my exhaust pipe issue. I highly recommend people to come to this store. I went in to have my oil change, including the courtesy inspection Midas promotes. When my car was brought out to me, the mechanic opened up the hood and after checking some things he quickly handed me the keys. Driving home my radiator blew up! Fortunately a mechanic stopped to help me and shared certain tubes in my engine were loose and not fastened as they should have, and the AAA mechanic shared these problems would have been easily recognized just by opening the hood. I went back to the Midas in Fremont to see what they would do about the problem-they would not do anything! The manager said it was not their mistake and they would not take any part in repairing the problem. I asked for the owner's number to contact him directly and the manager would not provide that. I even calmly asked for the owners name and he would not provide that either, leading me to believe the manager was the owner which only added to my disrespect of the company. Paul and his team at Midas in San Leandro was a great resource. Being opened late for my car to be towed to. Paul answered questions and ultimately fixed my car. Skip Midas in Fremont and make the drive to San Leandro, it is well worth it. read more

Terrible experience. Spent three hours in their waiting room while they ran to get new parts for a routine oil change. Wait... new parts for an oil change??? Mechanic on hand stripped the threads on my oil bed, and made me wait while he went off site to find a new drain plug in my size. How do you even strip the threads on an oil drain plug during a routine oil change? Gross negligence. Terrible thing is the threads on the bed were still stripped, so even with a new drain plug, i still had a steady leak!!! Next week my oil change light flicked on, and after pulling out from my workplace parking spot, there was a fat puddle of oil underneath. I will never return to this place again. $79 for that headache? No thanks. read more

Don't trust their service. They're not upfront about their cost and time frame, which I feel like are the two most honest things a car shop should be up front about. Didn't tell me a brake check would cost nor would it take an hour of my time until it was already in process. Though the cost of their brakes are ok, I just don't trust them anymore so I'll be going elsewhere. Definitely left a bad taste in my mouth. Also, the teenagers working inside were so bored from the lack of customers that they were playing around with the air spray on each other. I've been going here for a while and I'm finally off the hook! Had a prepaid 3 oil change certificate I got from a daily deal website. So in total, did several oil changes and had my Camry's brakes replaced with widely varying experiences. What I don't like is they don't even try to disguise the fact they're trying to upsell you with unhelpful items. I've had them try to sell me a new car battery by saying battery level is low when we just replaced it a month before quite a few times. They have longer than normal wait times for oil change even on the off hours since they understaff the technicians. Synthetic oil change is $90 and the prepay only gave $30 off. Manager will never give you a fair break on the bill unless you negotiate with him. For example, I learned my lesson and bought my own synthetic oil. I was thinking, labor should be the same for regular vs synthetic oil so my prepay should just cover it. Nope, I had to negotiate for that too. Usually they will do tire rotation and full inspection with an oil change but depending on the technician and manager on duty, whether it's properly done is doubtful since they're mum over the details. And since I used a coupon, they will try to skirt doing it until you demand it. But had positive experiences with regular oil changes and replacing the car brakes. I think paying more definitely gives you better treatment. I felt locked in from the certificate. Wouldn't do it again. read more

I'm not one to post negative reviews, but this place was ridiculous! I went in to get my oil changed. I waited 3 hours! Towards the end of my visit, the manager (or owner, not sure) said I had to take a look at my breaks. They told me my breaks were very bad and they needed to be replaced ASAP. They offered to to fix them there for $500. I know nothing about cars and was very frightened because they were telling me I shouldn't be driving on them in such bad conditions. I didn't have $500 to spend on my breaks at the time and the manager told me I should a least get the front ones done right than in there. He said give me a discount and charge me $180. I told them I'd come back the following week. I was very scared to drive my car, I even canceled a road trip I had planned. The following weekend instead of going on my trip I went to another mechanic for a second opinion. He let me know that I still had about 30% life on my breaks!!! And that I could have definitely made the road trip in my car! The only plus from my experience was that I received a nice discount for the long wait. But it doesn't make up for the terrified feeling I got when I drove my car thinking my breaks could go out at anytime! read more

My daughter took her Mazda CX9 there to check out her brakes because they were making a grinding like sound. A man helped her, charged the $25 to do an inspection. He gave her a formal quote and said her brakes were so bad she should tow the car home if he wasn't going to work on them that day. The quote was about $700 dollars. She drove home called a friend who works on cars. We bought all the parts the Midas guy said we needed and she took the car to her friend a few days later only to find out her brakes needed to be flushed and lubed. That was it!!! We returned the $300 worth of parts, went back to Midas and the girl at the counter was rude, rolled her eye, and basically said "oh well". Incompetent, irresponsible and insensitive are the words which sum up this joint. My Volvo had a engine light on. Seems like it was related to a fuel pressure sensor. The guy overseeing the repair convinced me that they can repair it in 2 days and the cost would be around 1500$ and it would be way cheaper than the dealer. I thought he knew what he was doing. OK once they got the business, they were not sure which part had the issue. They replaced 2 sensors (5 days later and with a cost of 2200$) and called me to pick the car. I start the car, the light is still ON. They kept the car for 3 more days and said it needs one more sensor change worth of 300$. On the 9th day after 3 sensor changes and a bill worth of 2500$ I pick up the car (and they repeatedly convinced me that everything is resolved now) and drive for 3/4 a mile and the ENGINE STOPS WHILE I WAS DRIVING. The guy behind me almost hit me. It was a near death experience. I had to call a tow truck to take it back to the shop. Apparently they forgot to reset the engine computer for the new sensor to take effect. To put it bluntly these guys are either NOT competent enough to repair modern cars or don't really care about customer well being as they can hand off a Car claiming it is repaired whose engine shuts off midway. To top that nobody even cared to apologize of the experience they put me through. My Advise avoid this place at any cost. read more

I don't like giving negative reviews but I had to in this case. I called in around noon and asked the guy who answered the phone if they did free break inspections and told him my concern. He said bring it by in 30 minutes. 30 minutes later I was there. The guy who running the front desk whose name was Al (Yes I'm about to put this guy on blast right now) was incredibly rude. I explained that the guy I spoke with (whose name I couldn't pronounce) told me to bring it by within the half hour. Now Al with his rude ass is telling me I have to wait 45 minutes just to get it on the rack. I know my rotors were not bad and the first thing he tells me after he goes out to my car to take my milage down is my rotors were bad. Keys please? I ran out of there as fast as I could. Customer Service was terrible and so was Al's attitude. I will take it somewhere else. read more

Do not go to this place! I went here for a simple alignment. First off the service advisor seemed disinterested and unwilling to write me up. After answering the phone and chatting it up in the service bay I was finally set with my paperwork a mere 30 mins later. The service advisor said they would call when completed. It was done at Noon but they never bothered calling. Had we not called in at 5pm we would have never had heard from them. During pickup I requested to see the alignment computer print out. This took the advisor a full 10 mins to find. After carefuly reviewing the print out it looks like the alignment was done with little caution (the car still wobbled after the alignment). I used to be an auto tech. I could of proabably done a better job at home with some twine and levelers. During the cash out we noticed that they had charged us for an oil change that I never requested. The advisor said his tech had to fill up the engine with oil because it was low. To his surprise I informed him that it was loaded with synthetic oil and should never be mixed with regular Dino oil. He denied the fact that they screwed up and made a stupid comment. He then offered to do an oil change with synthetic oil for the price of a regular oil change. He should have offered it for free since they screwed up and never bothered to check with the customer to authorize additional services. We ended up taking it to the Oil Changers across the street and spent almost 90 bucks to fix their screw up. Unless you want to get ripped off and eventually get stranded on the freeway cause of their screw ups then do not even think about taking your car here! read more
