I say very sincerely that this is the most honest and easy to work with mechanic shop. The mechanic explained in words I could understand what he was doing and why he had to do it. His work on my breaks and oil change were perfect! And despite the fact that he was busy, the car was done before he had promised. Wow! I've used them before, but never again. Took my vehicle in because it was not charging (battery light was on)and they had a "free electrical inspection". While there I asked them to do the oil and filter change and flush the coolant as it was due. They called and asked if I wanted the rear brakes changed while they had it there. I like to support local businesses, so I said sure. When I when to pick it up, they said the electrical system was fine-alternator was charging fine, battery was fine, voltage regulator was fine. Alternator was making a little whine, but no problem they said. Paid my $400+ bill and drove the 2 miles home. Truck went into "limp mode" in 1 1/2 miles and I barely made it to my garage. All the dash lights were going crazy then it died. I hooked up the battery charger and checked the ouput from the alternator-10.4 volts! needs 13+ to run the accessories and keep the battery charged. In addition, the truck smelled like burning oil, from where they'd spilled oil on the manifold. Finished charging the battery and drove it to another local shop-they confirmed that the alternator was indeed faulty and they replaced it. Now putting out 14.4 volts as it should. 100+ miles later the truck still reeks of oil on the exhaust. Used to be great service, but no more! Most of the reviews are a few years old and things have changed! read more

In need of a battery,I found Midas and what a good choice I made. Jim the owner help me with an excellence of costumer service, turn out it was the alternator not the battery. they help me with my alternator and recharge my battery with out trying to sell me a new one. AMAZING place to get your car taken care of! Jim is the owner at Midas in Laguna Beach, and he really goes above and beyond to give great customer service. I had a problem with my brakes, and he drove my car around to personally see what was wrong with them and see what he could do to fix them. I had gotten my brakes previously "fixed" at another Midas, and he told me about the warranty that probably came with my original purchase. I was able to find my old receipt, and he did the whole thing under warranty, so I didn't have to pay anything! My brakes are completely fixed now, and he even followed up to make sure I was satisfied with them. I highly recommend Jim and his team at Midas. I will definitely be taking my car back to this Midas, not only for their amazing work, but also for their above-and-beyond customer service and follow through! read more

got my oil change in 30 minutes!!!!! including tire rotation. made an appointment & got the service done right away! this place is right across from SHELL GAS STATION and i never noticed it. i used to goto Chevron in Corona Del Mar for quick oil change but i had to wait almost 3 hours for simple oil change even with appointment!! MR. ABBAS helped me getting the appointment and he made sure that technician was ready and available when i got there and BOOM! it was done in no time! i love it!!! =) thx!!!!!!! read more

I moved from Laguna Beach end of 2013 but just came across the business card with "Juan" written on it now. Forgive me for the overdue review! I had taken my old Hyundai there periodically for oil changes over the years, but had an auto issue the last year I was in OC that no one could seem to figure out, including the Hyundai dealership. I had given up on fixing it (the car would literally just turn off when I wasn't accelerating), went in for an oil change at this Midas, and Juan convinced me he knew what the problem was. Next day- resolved! The car still works to this day. In addition to fixing what at least four other repair shops could not, Juan was always super nice and honest. Despite the location, the prices are very reasonable. read more

I spent a lot less than I thought I would and they were friendly and fast.

I've been here multiple times, brakes, oil, check engine light, replace oxygen sensor. Went in today on June 5 2013. Juan has always been who I've interacted with, Jim once a few years ago. I've always felt like I've been treated more than fairly here. I always refer other locals here and all locals that I've talked to all have had good things to say about this place. I actually want to give this shop less than two stars, but Juan is a real nice guy, seems honest and tries to do his best, but he is just not that knowledgeable. I just had my Toyota Truck in to have the rear brakes looked at he advised me that I needed new brake pads, rotors and emergency brake pads. I agreed to have all of the work done and told him that I preferred that he used OEM parts. He said that his Midas parts were better and compatible so I agreed to what he recommended. To make a longer stort a bit shorter, the emergency brake pads that he used were not compatible and ended up damaging the rotors that he put on. I could tell something was wrong and took it back to Juan and he looked it over and said that everything looked fine. I drove it for a couple of weeks to let the brakes set in, but I could still tell that something was was not right. I ended up taking it to a Toyota specialist and he basically laughed at the work that was done. The emergency brake pads that they used were not compatible with my truck and ended up damaging the rotors. So, not only did I have to pay to have the new emergency brake pads done, but the rotors were so badly scored that I had to get new rotors as well. I probably should hav gone back to Juan and had him fix it again, but I just wanted it done right and I had already given him two chances at what should have been a straight-forward procedure. read more
