I went to Midas despite horrible reviews last year and got my Toyota 4runner serviced, all of my engine lights at the same time came on despite having zero car decline functionally... all lights came on and so I thought OK obviously I need to take it in. Being a young woman and not knowing much about vehicles it can be intimidating putting your trust in a company. The first bill I received was roughly $1000.00 my check engine light was off for maybe two hours not to mention my steering wheel shook whenever I reached 50 miles an hour after leaving the lot. I immediately called and had to schedule an additional time for me to take my car back in because not only did the same check engine lights all still appeared now my car had a problem it didn't before I took it in the first time. Second time I went in long list of issues they listed totaling $4600. I was completely outraged... I have an extremely good running vehicle which had zero issues before except for check engine lights, I reluctantly approve the work because I needed and depend on my vehicle to support my family. In the meantime, I did my own investigation.... All of those check engine lights coming on at the same time pointed to just needing a new gas cap! I immediately called them letting them know and they told me that they would order one, but the manager at the time insisted that the items found still needed to be fixed. I asked him to please do a simple oil change as well before I would be picking the vehicle up. I picked up the vehicle and thought they said they did the oil change. None of my fluids were filled, and even though I'm even though I consider myself to be ignorant of how cars work, my father did teach his daughter how to check her oil and it was definitely dirty! So I walked back inside and told them that oil change was definitely not completed and at this point trust in their business is at zero... I wanted a refund. They were not willing to grant that and said that they would do the oil change. I waited for that to be completed and drove off, within 10 minutes All the check engine lights came back on.... My steering wheel still shakes at 50 miles an hour on the freeway.... The next morning, which could be a complete coincidence I had a fraudulent charge on my card for auto car parts ordered from an automotive company in another state, used my same card online... my bank took care of it thank God, but I do not believe this was a coincidence! Three days later I spoke to the owner of the company at the time and he apologetically told me he fired that manager... I explained to him how I taken advantage i felt, how unsatisfactory the work was and how the issue was still persisting and not to mention further issues the vehicle never had before hand. I went into this company for a third time which the owner himself apologized, re-looked at everything they had conducted didn't charge me any money. Did a smoke test, and recommended the fuel cap to be replaced! Ahhh, which was something I already called in the last time I was there to have them do, finding out at that time that was also not done, I felt so robbed. I did a ton of research and found a wonderful company that I actually trust, in Stockton, Familia Automotive on 720 East Hammer Ln. will go there for life! I drove straight to them and Not only did he help me and show me everything that was done incorrectly. He showed me work that was conducted by Midas while I recorded the video they found the purge valve amongst many other things, connectors loose, and broken, which were brand new parts installed by Midas that they had to resecure and repair. All this to say almost a year later, after opening a dispute with Automotive Program Representative in Sacramento Field Office Bureau of Automotive Repair, I found out that the owner sold the company to a different owner. This new CURRENT owner completely denied agreeing to help and has no desire to work with me, provide compensation, and or any mediation to repair the damages they've caused. I own a 2023 Toyota Capstone. On my way from the Palm Springs area heading to rescue my daughter and family in Redding. I stopped in Lodi to rest. The truck started overheating bad ,and it was pouring rain. Luckily Midas was right up the steet. They were slammed,every bay filled and the lot filled. I ran in and explained to the manager how urgent it was. I am a retired disabled Vet. for which he thanked me went outside in the rain and checked to find low coolant. My car was making terrible screeching noises, so I first brought my car to the shop next door to Midas. That shop told me that by the time they diagnose which belt was making the noise, it would cost significantly more money. They asked me to choose which belt to repair, and so I opted for all three to make sure the goal was accomplished. They charged $450 to replace them all, but sure enough, two weeks later, screeching started up again, and with a vengeance. I decided this time to try Midas since that other shop failed me. I was serviced by Mike, and he actually treated me like a human being! They took the time to diagnose the issue - it wasn't any of the belts, it was the pulley. Then, they replaced my key fob battery for free since they had a spare at the office. I was charged $297 for the diagnosis and pulley replacement. These guys are good, I hope they continue the same management for a long time because now my steering wheel turns very easily and noise is done and the service is wonderful and at a price that doesn't break me like the rip off I received from next door. I initially chose Midas based on their promising initial service and assurances. However, my experience took a sharp turn after payment for a repair, tires and alignment. The alignment service that was clearly not done correctly. When I inquired, I was told their alignment machine was broken and that I would receive a call back to reschedule. Unfortunately, that call never came. It's disappointing to pay for a service that wasn't properly completed and then be completely ignored. I was really disappointed with Midas. I bought new tires 14 months ago. The tires were worn out after 15,000 miles. Although there was a warranty, Midas service manager said the warranty is "pro-rated," and charged me $950 to replace the defective tires. He said it would cost more if they were not under warranty. It took 3 hours for them to put new tires on and do the alignment. The alignment was done incorrectly.... my steering wheel is turned to the left in order to go straight. I am now back, waiting for this problem to be corrected. I would not recommend this place. It used to be good, but things have changed. On a recent Sunday night, my son's truck would not start. He was far from home and in the area of this Midas. We frequent the Midas by our home in another city and usually are treated well, so we had his truck towed to this Midas without first reading their reviews - big mistake. The place was closed as expected so we left the truck parked directly in front of the store in the lighted parking lot and slipped the keys through the mail slot with our contact information. Called the next morning right after opening (8:15) and explained the problem with the truck not starting. We were told they would check it out and give us a call. After not hearing anything for 3 hours we called again and we're told they were busy and the truck was next to get a diagnostic, "right after lunch." Lunch came and went and the afternoon dragged on with no news until, at 4:00 in the afternoon, they called and said they had easily fixed the engine problem by simply resetting the fuel cutoff switch. Great news, right? Then the guy says your truck is leaking fuel. I tell him the truck was not leaking fuel when we left it the night before. He says it looks like the fuel tank had been drilled and there was fuel leaking into the parking lot. When asked they denied having security cameras in their parking lot. And a replacement tank would be difficult to locate and expensive to replace. So, a truck with a minor problem was left in their care for less than 24 hours and the result was a truck with a major problem in need of an expensive repair. I began reading the Yelp reviews and immediately realized we had made a huge mistake trusting these people. I called back and told them we would be picking up the truck and taking it somewhere else. Sure enough, we picked up the truck early the next morning, leaking badly from a perfectly drilled hole in the fuel tank. At least they didn't charge us for the "service." read more

Stay away from this business! I went to Midas a few weeks ago after running over a nail that resulted in a low tire pressure. I was initially told that the tire would only need patched ($30) but was later advised that I should replace both tires in the rear axle which I was fine with. A few weeks after instillation of the new tires, my left rear tire went flat as I was driving along the freeway. I was a significant distance away from Lodi so I took my car into a tire shop near me. Upon inspection I was notified that the tires had been installed incorrectly (inside out) by Midas and they had put non run flat tires on the rear axle when I had run flat tires on the front axle which led me to unsafe vehicle operation. read more

If you can take your vehicle ANYWHERE else, you should !!!! They diagnosed our vehicle and gave us a quote for the repair. We decided to go ahead with the repair and dropped the car off. We were told that it would be done the very next day but the only thing we got the next day, was an excuse as to why it wasn't done. This continued on a daily basis for an entire week. A 24hr repair turned in to a 7 day hostage situation. When it finally was done they even had the nerve to want more money. When we voiced our disappointment and the extreme inconvenience of being without a necessary vehicle for a week, all they could say was "We did our best, there's nothing else we can do". Very, very, very poor customer service. I wouldn't even give them 1 star if I could. We'd used them before, but the service has really gone down hill. HORRIBLE customer service from LIAM!!! Took our vehicle in for an oil change and dropped it off earlier than the set appointment. We never received a call and happened to call around 5 and they said they tried to call us 3 times and said another service would cost almost $500 which didn't seem like it should cost that much. The next day we my husband noticed the wheel center cap was missing and went beck there on Monday to obtain it. Unfortunately they said it was not there but it was on when we brought it there so Im not sure what happened to it. LIAM, the service writer was very rude and disrespectful. We think that the piece has been misplaced somewhere and just need to give them time to see if they can possibly find it. I took my 2014 Honda civic Midas auto service and tires on 5/20/23 as I was at 15% oil life and also transmission fluid. The mechanic came in and spoke to the young man at the desk who then informed me verbally, " my transmission was needing to be replaced, my brake drums need to be replaced and also my tires we're bad" . I had an appointment today with Lodi Honda which did their multi point inspection and guess what! There is NOTHING wrong with my transmission, tires or drums. So I went back to midas and spoke to the same guy at the counter and let him know I didn't appreciate being lied to. Also told him I will be contacting corporate office on Monday. Do not go there! Where to start. Took my Volkswagen 2010 Tiguan to these people because I had good look with Midas muffler in San Jose where I used to live. They took my car in for an ignition switch problem and this was too much for them to handle. They tore apart my ignition system and steering column and we're not able to fix my ignition problem. They damaged a part that I had purchased from Niello Volkswagen in Sacramento and still charged me for tearing apart my steering column and ignition system and not fixing my problem. I ended up taking all the parts that they had removed and took the to Niello Volkswagen in Sacramento where they assured me that they knew how to do the work correctly and after being charged $136 for parts removal from Midas and after they also ruined a $250 part I purchased from Niello Volkswagen, I ended up taking the parts that they removed and put them in a box and took them to Niello Volkswagen for them to do the work. So I went to the Midas off at Kettleman for a recommended brake fluid and they told me there was another issue with my car that I had mentioned 2 months before that was brushed off and not looked into. i had notified the personal that I was hearing weird sounds when I would accelerate and they signed off that nothing was wrong. The person that assisted me Paul, showed me what the issue was, the suspension on both sides, and he gave me a quote and said he gave me a little discount. I said that unfortunately today I could only pay for the brake flush because I had to pay for rent and I had to save fore a trip. he asked where I was heading to, nothing wrong, i replied and then he proceeded to ask if I lived alone and if I supported myself. i said yes that I pay all the bills and couldn't pay the 875$. He then inappropriately commented that maybe my boyfriend could pay for the service/parts and I said, I don't have one. He then stayed quiet and gave me my paperwork and I saw the business card on top and I flipped it over, on the card it said " I'm single too, with his name and number" on the card. He then proceeded to tell me that if I call that number on the card I could "get an additional discount" I left and I felt very very uncomfortable and disgusted. i have never EVER had an experience like this at this location. This is HIGHLY inappropriate was to communicate with and assist customers. i will never be coming back and I fear that my personal information may be used and located by this person to contact me. i will be speaking to the manager when the location opens. read more

Took girlfriend's 2008 Lexus IS250 here for new tires and to have them balanced. Manager Dan told me over the phone about a comparable priced set of Toyo's that would work fine. When I arrived at 1045 for 11 am appointment, was told 2 hours. Manager Dan had to leave around this time. At 1 was told by "Mr. G" (son of owner, unbeknownst to me at the time) it would be 15 more minutes. I had a wedding to attend that afternoon at 3. At 245, the job was finally finished. I was late to the wedding- no apology, paid close to $1200 for 4 tires and labor. 2 days later, girlfriend calls from Elk Grove after the tire had come off the rim (while driving on 99 at freeway speeds). I cancelled clients (lost money for me, gas money to get up there and back to Lodi), changed her spare and took it to a Midas located luckily .1 miles away. The tech told me he would be very angry if he were me, as the bead was broken on the tire, and the person installing could not have not known this after compromising the safety of the tire. Each of the tires was also 72-76 psi, rated for MAX 51 psi. Drive the car back to Lodi to have them fix their mistake. Ordered a new tire for me, assured me their "Master Tech" would check the other tires (he put them on the first time, why should I trust my girlfriend's safety to him again?) and complete the work the next day. Was told by manager Dan, "Yeah, they said they [the technicians] were wondering about that tire", meaning THEY KNEW THEY DID WRONG AND WERE HOPING IT WOULD BE OK. It was not. Emailed owner, Gurjinder Lal, who did not reply, and was not in the shop when I asked to speak with him in person. Asked for labor refund, as THEY DID NOT DO WHAT I PAID THEM TO DO, and was given 2 "free oil change" vouchers in return for 3 times returning to this shop, lost wages, safety sacrificed, and all while they knew they had done this and let me drive off. We had no complaints in the past. Had the oil changed in 2 of our vehicles more than once. At our last visit we had the oil changed and the tires rotated. We were told we needed rear brakes. I explained my brother could do the job. They told me to take care of it ASAP they are almost to the rotors. My husband and brother got the parts took it all apart to find out brakes were not needed. I went in for an oil change cause I assume my car needed it and for whatever reason with them doing an oil change my battery dies the desk guy Luis said it died cause it was too cold which is funny cause it was 1 in the afternoon and I've yet to have the cold affect my car's battery in any way shape or form now this morning I go to start my car for work and battery is dead I'll definitely be giving them a call to fix my battery that mysteriously is now dead all of a sudden. I took my car in for an oil change and for them to look at my trunk on my Chevy Malibu, because I could not get it to open. I had an appointment at 0930am. The guy who works at the front, assured me that first they would ensure that it wasn't a technical issue before checking that it's nothing electrical. At 4pm, I called them to see what's going on with my car. They told me that it wasn't a technical issue, and they can't get my trunk to open, that they think it's a relay issue, and they must check the electrical signals, which was going to cost $150, just to do that. Then they would call me for a quote to fix it after that. They close at 5pm, and their system was down so they were going to keep my car until the next day. The next day, I call and they tell me it's ready for pickup, that it wasn't an electrical issue after all, and they were able to fix it. At this point I'm upset, but I go pick up my car. The guy at the front desk, continues to charge me just the $150 PLUS what I paid for the oil change, without explaining to me what happened with the trunk or anything. So, I asked him and he said that they couldn't get it to open manually so they had to check the electrical. I asked him 'Ok, so how did you get it to open after?' The guy said they pressed a button on the computer and it opened it. So I told the guy, well I was able to open the trunk by pulling my back seats down, and pulling the emergency trunk release lever, and the trunk is able to open. He said 'oh yeah?' And he told me, that they weren't going to charge me for the labor, just the $150, since it wasn't an electrical issue. He really thought I was stupid. I left to get my car and sure enough my back seat was left pulled down, because that's exactly what they did to open my trunk, by pulling the emergency trunk release lever. My back seats were not pulled down when I dropped my car off. I looked at my trunk, and I see a bottle of WD-40 left in my trunk, like hold on this isn't mine. Sure enough, they just used WD-40 on my lock mechanism to fix the issue. The guy couldn't tell me that apparently, he lied about the service they did, and over charged me for something that my car didn't even need. After telling other people about this place, I was told by other people bad experiences from this place either from their own experiences or others that they know. Cannot do a simple smoke test. Pulled apart the lines on my EVAP system. Suggested replacing my fuel pump to fix the problem. Showed me a vague picture identifying the leak, and then suggested that they would have to replace the charcoal canister in order to replace the EVAP line. This is just a lie. Also, two hours meant Four hours of my day wasted, and just 15 minutes meant another hour and a half. It's not even possible to see the parts he suggested needed replacement because they are hidden by the fuel tank. And I watched them do the smoke test incorrectly. Don't go here. My husband just took my car to Midas, about 20 min ago, he went to see if they would put a code reader on it and confirm it is my #2 coil that is bad, I already had a code reader done and knew this but wanted to make sure. So my husband then says it is the #2 coil we know that, they told him they don't do code readers anymore?? Who doesn't do code readers?? So he quoted 120.00 for a diagnostic, um nope, can you just fix the coil we know is bad, he said no, we have to do the diagnostic on it, for 120.00. Then my husband asked about my AC as it stopped working last summer, yeah they had to diagnose that to, ok, 59.00 + 120.00 to tell me what I already know. I will be fair and say, as a business owner myself, I get it, but when you go to the most expensive first, and will only do the most expensive, we walk!! I would never treat our customers that way, we go the cheapest and easiest for our customers. My advice, USE A CODE READER because like my husband said when he he was leaving, you guys just want money, so NO we will never return, bummer cause if you had treated us right, you would have gained much more business from us... We came to Midas for a car alignment we were told the ball joint's needed to be replaced to be able to do the alignment and car run well the service came out to be a total of $627.33 my car is not aligned and the service we were told would make my car run well again was false when going back to have my car alignment redone or money back for the car alignment $99.99 I was told no. Liam told me that everything was on the recording and on tape I proceeded to tell him that I didn't mind waiting for the tapes to come back to hear the exact conversation of what he said the car needed to run well after insisting I would wait for the tape he then proceeded to say that he didn't think the tapes had audio so that I would cancel my request to prove them otherwise. I will be waiting to see if I get any call back on the tapes and audio but I doubt I will be hearing from them. Would not suggest this place we left the building without any type of refund when you can clearly see my car drive to the right on its own. My repair was on a passenger window that needed fix and found the price a little high on the first quote it was $170 with labor to repair an electric window that would not roll up, when inquiring about the price , Liam announced that They are Not a Mom and Pop shop and that was there price. Doing business in Lodi all my life I find that statement offensively impolite and not in any way how we are in Lodi as a whole. He said it would be done in 1 1/2 hours only to receive a call stating that a part was now needed and that would now total my repair would cost $270 with an additional 1 1/2 hour wait. So last week I went to get an oil change at the Lodi #Midas. Simple, right? Well, a couple days later my car started leaking quite a bit of oil. I called the Lodi #Midas and asked for a manager. I was told he would call me back in two minutes. About 40 minutes later I called again and asked for the manager again. The person who answered the phone was surprised to hear that I had not been called and once again promised I would get a call from the manager in less than two minutes. Nothing. So, since I live in Citrus Heights now, I called the #Midas nearest me in Roseville. They were very apologetic and told me to come right down and they would fix it. I drove there and they got me right in but once my car was on the lift they wanted to show me the "problem". By the way, I have never had an oil leak from this car that I have been driving for about three years. He told me that he cleaned off all the oil and that my oil pan has been leaking for a while because all the oil on the bottom looks like it's been there for a while. I asked him why I have never had a drop of oil in my driveway and he just shrugs and tells me he will check the oil filter and gasket and possibly replace them. After he was done and brought me the keys I asked if he replaced the filter. He looked at me funny and said that he hadn't because there was no leak. I went home and didn't use my car for the rest of the day. The next time I used it *surprise* another big puddle of oil. My boyfriend was upset by this so he went down to Napa and got a new oil filter. Five minutes later he has it on my car and pressure washed and cleaned my whole motor. You know what?! After driving it for a couple hours yesterday and letting it sit in the driveway overnight there is *MAGICALLY* no puddle of oil! I thought it was just a problem at the Lodi #Midas but apparently they just suck in general. read more
