These people are beyond honest and super knowledgeable about cars. We have an older infinity I 30 and they fixed it without hesitation. They did an engine control module relearn, and I had no luck other places. My car sat for two months because I didn't know if this place sooner. People were trying to charge me a lot more than what they did I beyond recommend them, and I will be back for more repairs as I finally have a place that I can trust. if I could give more stars I would they were fantastic. I'm very disappointed with my experience here. I brought my 2013 Dodge Durango in for a radiator replacement. The radiator work itself appears fine, but when I got my vehicle back, the hood was clearly not put back together or adjusted correctly. Right away, I noticed the hood was extremely difficult to open. I pulled the latch, the hood unlocked, but it was very hard to lift. After trying to relatch it, I noticed one corner of the hood was sitting too low. After multiple attempts, I was finally able to get it open, but now the hood will not close properly at all. Even when pushed down fully, it will not latch correctly and keeps popping back up. This was not an issue before the radiator replacement. What makes this even more frustrating is how they handled it afterward. I reached out to explain the problem in detail, sent photos, and asked what the next steps would be to correct it. My messages were read, but I was completely ignored. No response, no acknowledgment, and no effort to take responsibility for an issue that started immediately after their repair. A shop should stand behind its work and at the very least respond when a customer brings back a serious concern involving hood alignment and latch safety. A hood that does not open and close properly is not a minor cosmetic issue. It is a safety issue. I would strongly caution future customers to thoroughly inspect their vehicle before leaving, especially if work is done around the radiator support, hood latch area, or front end components. Based on my experience, the lack of communication and refusal to address the problem is just as concerning as the repair issue itself read more

Took my vehicle to be serviced due to dashboard light coming on. Lakewood Auto was very responsive and kept me up to date on what needed to be fixed. My car was repaired very quickly. The price was very reasonable compared to other auto repair shops. A week later my dashboard light came on again. I called Lakewood and they got my car in right away and diagnosed the problem. They found a sensor had not been plugged in all the way. Even though it was due to my son doing some other repair after Lakewood Auto. This was our first time using this shop as we typically take our vehicles to the dealership. We are a two car family and one of our vehicles was already at the shop when we had an issue with the other one. Isn't that always the way? The dealership was taking it's time and we did not want to be without a car for long so on the recommendation of a friend we gave this shop a try. I did remove on star because of their prices. Our final cost was over twice as much as originally estimated and overall costs were higher than the average for this area. Their credit card processing fee is also very high; It added an additional charge of $15.41 to our bill just so we could pay it. That being said, our car was dropped of and the work was completed on the same day. The employees called us to apprise us of new information as it came about and to discuss decisions before work was completed. We have not had any problems with the work they did. Overall we are satisfied and if you don't mind paying a little more for fast, efficient work I would recommend giving this location a try. read more

Late post but necessary for everyone to know they can put full trust in this owner/operator Ken. back in April this year I as a single older woman purchased a car from a private small dealership in Roseville put down $5000 cash for my college aged daughter. My daughter reported to me less than 48 hours later that the car was jerking, I immediately left work panicking as I read the reviews of how this dealership particularly this sales person was taking customers large down payments and selling them lemon cars covering up faulty mechanisms of the cars. I first drove the car to an auto parts store and had them run a diagnostic which came up two major codes. I then looked up Lakewood auto repair on yelp, looking for a five star certified repair shop and drove straight to Lodi and talked to Ken. Not knowing Ken I had to hope that I could trust him. He ran the codes for this car and at least 23 codes came up, not only did Ken not charge me, but he advised me to leave right now and take the car back. When I arrived at the dealership the sales person nonchalantly looked at me in my face for 2 1/2 hours while I was trying to get my money back from him showing him the diagnostic reports, his reviews, etc., etc. and he blankly stared in my face and said you're not getting a dime back from me. Where this salesperson messed up is, he called Ken to try to downplay the diagnostic report that Ken gave me to take out there. When Ken got on the phone, he was on speaker and instead of being on the salesperson side Ken stepped up for me, once again, and said "I don't know this lady, but she seems like a very nice person. Give her her money back man you're wrong. This car shouldn't have been sold to her." Ken also pointed out things that he had not even told me about the car while on speakerphone to give me more evidence on the sly by saying someone had been tampering with the car to try to get it smogged. The look on that salesman's face when Ken said that told me everything. I say all this to say.... Ken, the owner of Lakewood auto repair, is a stand-up guy, he has a stand-up business and I would recommend him over any dealership or private auto repair. He didn't know me from a can of paint and he didn't have to help me. He didn't have to guide me on what to do, but he did. Thank you, Ken. There is still good ppl in this world. Now long story short..I had to hire a lawyer to get my money back but it was Ken's involvement that gave me the courage to stand my ground and got my money back within 2 days of lawyers demand letter. Unfortunately, less than a year after the initial head gasket replacements (took them 3 tries) I'm once again dealing with the same issue--the head gasket is leaking. In fact, it appears the leak was never fully resolved following the repair. Since then, I've had to refill the coolant daily just to operate the vehicle. When I brought this to the owner's attention, I was told the problem was due to the age of the car. However, I've owned much older vehicles in the past and never experienced anything like this. Rather than taking responsibility, the owner chose to place the blame on me, the customer. This has been one of the most disappointing service experiences I've ever had. If you're looking for quality work and respectful service, I would recommend looking elsewhere. This is not the place to be. I will be submitting a complaint to the BAR. read more

Alternator Replacement on 2017 Jaguar F-Type Lakewood Auto Repair is an absolute lifesaver. I mistakenly took my car to get an oil change at a different local lube shop, thinking nothing of it since it was a simple oil change. That shop did not have the adequate experience to know that the filter was not secured properly, leading to an oil leak that ultimately ruined my alternator. Lakewood was able to get my car towed to them, and was not only able to source the part, but had the car running perfectly in almost an hour. They showed me exactly what went wrong and walked me through the parts that needed replacing and why. I was very fortunate to find a shop that has the knowledge and experience to work on European cars, which are notorious for being extremely difficult to work on. They even gave me a great deal on the oil change for bringing my car to them! Will definitely be bringing all of my cars to Lakewood from here on out. read more

Today I drove my now tired and anemic but once lively Sentra that I've had since my college days to Lakewood Auto Repair. It was 7:30am and I'm already exhausted. The doors open up, Ken arrives right on time and the customer ahead of me starts casually conversing with Ken as if they've been friends for years. That customer leaves satisfied. I lug my half awake self up to Ken and explain what I think my car needs. He sits there patiently, allowing me to ramble but never giving me a look of judgement, just focus. He genuinely takes in my concerns and decides to investigate further with what I may need. Maybe 5 minutes after having another mechanic inspect my vehicle, I get invited into the shop for the mechanic to point out his concerns. He stood there with mutual respect to my intelligence and let me know exactly what he thinks is best for the longevity of my vehicle. I take in his suggestion and go forth with a more rigorous process, albeit, one that I'd have to spend a little more on. Next, I head back to Ken who is typing away at his desk. He lets me know that they'll need a part that's seemingly no where to be found. Confused but determined, Ken gets the necessary part to finish my car by the end of today instead of postponing. A bit later, the part arrives all the way from NEWARK and the mechanic fires away, sweating and heavily focused on getting the job done. I take a seat in the lobby, grabbing a cup of water and looking around. Awards proudly hang on the walls with "Lakewood Auto Repair" and Ken's name throughout the years. I circle my eyes back to Ken and he immediately converses with me, shortly talking more about baseball, past experiences, and cars. At this point I feel bad for making Ken endure my awkward conversation but I stumble into conversation about another service that I think my car needs. Ken suggests something they provide but at the fraction of its conventional cost. I accept the offer and again, the mechanic fires away, tirelessly working on my car without break. Ken and the tired mechanic persistently ask me if I want something else to drink. I confusingly think to myself that I should be going out to go get them something to drink given their hard work! A little while after, my car is placed in the parking lot and I pay my way out. Ken shakes my hand before I leave. At this point, I was convinced this was a quaint, serviceable place but I didn't see why the reviews were unanimously and outstandingly 5 stars. That is... Until I turn on my car and give it a spin. My car feels... Different? For a moment, I felt the feeling I had in college when driving my car for the first time, when driving this car was novel, new, and...Fun. I felt LIFE when pressing on the pedal but I took it easy. No longer am I living the days of punching it on the highway at high speeds. I feel a sense of responsibility and another chance to right my wrongs with my car. I can't say the same for myself from college onwards but I at least have this. I now understand why this shop is highly recommended and it was worth every penny to know that I won't have to buy another car. These guys don't just clock in or out at a job. Highly recommend this shop. I was having problems with my rear brakes (it was making a grinding noise) and it turned out my rear caliper was loose. They ended up fixing it and on top of that they were able to save me money by just resurfacing my rotors instead of replacing the whole thing. We've got a 2006 Nissan 350z and noticed coolant leaking and another shop thought it was radiator but would charge quite a lot. Took the car to Lakewood and they not only found radiator leak but water pump as well. While in the shop, we had the under carriage and wheel well shrouds replaced and now car like new. Got the entire car done at a reasonable price and have 24 month/24k mile warranty, so pretty good deal. In response to Ken P. The Ford shop manual recommends removing the front seats and center console to remove the Dashboard. If your mechanic had done this or at a minimum covered the seats it wouldn't have been an issue, secondly if your mechanic would have re-installed the Dashboard and connected all of its components correctly it wouldn't have been an issue, thirdly, when you misplace parts that came off during disassembly and then don't think to replace them that is an issue, and lastly when you personally state that you checked/tested the repairs each time and after four attempts they weren't operating correctly, ANYONE would be angry! read more
