First time going to Midas. I went in and scheduled an oil change on the weekend. I spoke with the oldest gentleman there. I went in at my scheduled appointment and I wasn't even on the system, on top of that they told me I'd have to wait 6 hours before they could service mine. I heard good things about Midas but that shouldn't happen. It was a waste of my time. I just walked out the door and went somewhere else. I've been here a few times and they do a good job. I'm pretty sure this location is privately owned and the owner is usually always behind the counter. I've had my brakes replaced as well as other services and they were fairly priced. I plan on going here again soon to have my brakes replaced on another vehicle. read more

Poor service. Called in the day before to make an appointment for an oil change and they informed us over the phone it'll take 1 hour to get done. So we booked our appt & we arrived on time. They did not pull our car in to work on until 50 minutes later. Therefore, waited 2 hours to get oil changed. We always bring all of our cars to the Midas in Stockton on Pacific Avenue. Due to them always busy & fully booked 2-3 days out, and I'm needing an oil change same day or next day because I'm off from work, I end up bringing it in to this Midas in Lodi. On another note, the worker (staff) that either worked on car / drove our car out for us, had a very bad body odor. He stepped out from our car & his body odor smell left lingering in our car. We got in our car & drove off with all of our car windows rolled down, & we were gagging. Not a happy customer here because of the long wait, and sick from that bad body odor of 1 of their employee. read more

My Car broke on a Sunday afternoon and I got it to this location 5 minutes after closing. They informed me my car was not safe to drive. Instead of closing for day and scheduling appointment for me, they stayed open and fixed my car. I need my car as my daughter in Hospital and I drive daily quite a distance, San Jose, to see her. Car not running right. Mechanic says needs new spark plugs and new MASS air flow sensor. Very limited budget. Had them only change spark plugs which cost $600.00!! Car didn't run any better. They wanted another $500.00 to change MASS air flow sensor, but not sure if that would fix the problem. Took car to another shop in Stockton. They said MASS air flow sensor fine...problem is with coil pack. Replaced. Car runs awesome. Midas car repair experts? I think NOT! Very disappointed they mis-diagnosed the issue. I'm pretty annoyed at this Midas right now. I've had a few experiences with them that have been fair. I received a service, I paid, and I didn't have any really over or underwhelming experience to really say good or bad. Let me preface this that my wife hates to take charge or get anything auto related done. Since her level of knowledge isn't great, she hates to feel like she is being taken advantage of. Knowing this I asked her to call or stop Midas to get a estimate on some brakes for my 2012 Tundra while I'm out of town. I told her to let them know that I am already well aware that we don't need rotors, and it will be a brake job. She had all the info on the truck ready to answer anything she would need. Her call went something like this.. my wife: could I please get an estimate for some new brakes? Midas: it varies. Bring it in Wife: I know I just need brakes. Can I just give you my vehicle information and get the estimate? Midas: ( long breathe, sounding bothered) its could be 150 or lot more, I don't know. You need to bring it in. Wife: ok, I know it doesn't need new rotors, could I get a more accurate idea. If it just needs brakes, how much? Midas: it really varies. You just need to stop by Thanks a lot Midas for being a jerk. Every other store she called treated her a lot better and were willing to give a lot more accurate estimate. You've lost my business for this, as well as all the other maintenance I was planning on doing this visit. PS- I would have preferred to email you directly to express my displeasure with your lack of customer service. There is no way to contact the store directly. Oh well there's plenty of other shops. I don't think Midas will miss working on 6 vehicles from my family. Horrible shop in Lodi. Car won't start, had diagnosis $150, said I needed fuse box $1,200 part , $600 install and program, then said I need battery $120. A month goes by. Same problem car won't start. Brought back another diagnosis $150. Said starter was bad replaced $250. Same night got the car back. Car won't start. Brought back. Diagnosis (free) kept car for almost 2 weeks. Replaced a safety switch (free) cost roughly $170. Cars fine now. Tried to get refund on all other work. Called corporate line "sorry we can't help you don't see how what happen is our problem" F*** this store. I'm not finished with them yet read more

My husband's transmission service was done by them and we had to return a week later for some type of hole in the hose that affects the radiator fluid. So far so good and we do have a 90 day warranty on both. If you look at quite a few repairs shops, you don't see them really high rated. They had one of their Sr. Tech's work on his car for the latter incident RE the radiator hose which was leaking fluid. It was a three-way hose and had to be ordered. The job was completed and we paid what we felt was reasonable and what they billed for time and labor . As I said, so far, so good and we do have a 90 day warranty. I told them do a good job for us and I will take care of you by leaving a favorable review. I am a woman of my words and hopefully we can continue a favorable repor with Midas on Kettleman to take care of future repairs and in turn they are rewarded with a great review!!!!!! That's my review, and I found Randy and Liam to be very professional, empathetic and just trying to get the job done to their satisfaction and ours. I took my car into Midas for a supposed "Crankshaft Issue" I went to pick my car up and asked Liam, "Will there be any residual repairs needed for my car?" Liam said, "No, your car should be good to go." I only drove 4 miles until my check engine light came back on and my car was driving rough again. I called Liam and explained what was going on, and he asked "When can you bring your car back in?" After I just dropped $500 and did not even receive a AAA discount, I shouldn't have to drop my car off again. I only have one car and I work full-time, I do not have time to drop my car off again, literally after just picking it up! Pro: They spotted my tire wear. Con: This place is "upsell" central I went to them for an oil change, and they said it would take about 45 min. That's about twice as long as I'd hoped, but I went for my daily walk while they worked on the car. When I came back, the technician mentioned that the car hesitated a bit upon starting and pointed out how worn down my rear tires were. He recommended that I replace the spark plugs and have a tune-up. I thought to myself, "Why didn't the auto mechanic to whom I'd taken the car for a different issue this morning mention the alleged hesitation?" So, I called that mechanic, and he confirmed my suspicion: I was being "upsold." Upselling is a euphemism for the practice of taking advantage of a customer's ignorance about his/her car in order to perform unnecessary services and sell unneeded replacement parts. Modern cars do not need "tune-ups." All they need is the recommended services prescribed by the manufacturer at specified mileage levels, e.g., a 40K, 75K, and 100K service. When they returned my car, they put in an oil change sticker that recommended the next oil change in 3K miles, even though the full-synthetic oil they used will let the car go 7.5K miles between oil changes. The work receipt also had the wrong odometer mileage on it, reflecting the mileage on my prior oil change. I'm grateful that the technician spotted the tire wear, but I'll go elsewhere for my oil change in the future. read more

Midas was very honest and would highly recommend! Lodi Toyota was going to charge me over $500 for a sensor job they claimed could only be done professionally. Got a 2nd opinion and Midas charged me only for the part and was honest enough to let me know this was something simple I could do myself, BUT offered to do the job for FREE since it was so simple. I didn't waste their shop time and completed the job in less than a minute at home! I will be glad to use their services again! read more

I brought my car in for a brake job (both axles). They inspected all my brakes, roters, etc. and then before they proceeded they discussed what needed to be done. The owner was very nice and honest. He discussed what I really needed, not trying to sell me something I didn't. I appreciated that. I also saved lots of money. They were at least $125 less per axle than the dealership! I was out in 1 1/2 hours. Clean waiting room, shop and lots of good magazines to read while waiting (w/drink machine). The girl at reception was also very nice. I will come back when I need anything else I need done on my car-oil change, AC work, new tires. Why drive all the way to Stockton from Lodi when you don't have to? Horrible experience!.went in to get new brakes and then discovered i needed a new haudrolic system installed without my check engine light on and they found a tear in my tire so had to replace a tire.then they told me the next day i needed another small piece replaced .i ended up spending $$804 bucks on everything.i went back 3 times in 2 days cause they they could not make my brakes smooth and couldnt take out all the air.inconvinient and they wasted 8 hours of my life.totally ripped me off cause i came by myself and im a young female who had money.Only to find out my honda has a transmission problem now..great ..DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY AND TIME HERE. read more

Very poor experience. I was quoted one price over the phone another in their shop and then I was charged an entirely different price. The quality of work was mediocre. I just wish I could get my money back but I'm sure a muffler they welded in place isn't returnable! Update: Midas customer service called and recorded my complaint. I was advised that I could return to the shop (who utterly failed) or I could go to another Midas location to have it looked at. Regardless of the quality no refund would be issued unless the work they did failed for some reason! Poor quality work is a fail in my book! read more

OK so I know I should be able to install my own windshield wipers but for some reason it always gets me. I went to Midas on Kettle in Lodi today to ask If I bought a windshield wiper there could they install it. He said yes but they would charge me for the windshield wiper and $40.00 more for labor.I expressed to him that most other people only charges around 20 and being it was only going to take around two minutes if you could give me a lesser price. He was very sarcastic and rude. I again asked him if there was a way even if I would've paid for an oil change can we then just add it into that. He said people don't do things for free And he said he had to charge that so he could pay his guys. I told him I did not want it for free I just didn't wanna pay $40 for something that was easy and only took two minutes. Being a smart ass he told me if it was so simple to do I should know how to do it. Needless to say him and I had a few words. I recently came through lodi and my maintenance light came on so I read some reviews on some places and saw some sour reviews about midas, but really I had no choice and I came to see it for myself because i've been to another midas and they were great. Honestly I do not get these bad reviews??? The customer service was great, the wait time was absolutely fine, and they saved my life! I was unaware that my cv axel was blown and there was no grease and was going completely shot , I still had another 400 miles to drive for my destination, so of course I got it fixed. This is the worst place I have ever gone to. The service is not based on customer satisfaction and they failed to put on directional tires the right way. There are clear labels on these tires (inside and outside clearly labeled on the tires). I opted not to purchase 4 tires at the same time. The tires that I kept on my vehicle began to shake and when I took it back the man at the front desk rudely "explained" to me that the alignment and tires I purchased did not guarantee that the car would stop shaking, which is the reason I went to Midas in the first place. So not only did my car continue to shake but the tires were put on incorrectly. I called Midas to discuss my frustration and they're only reply to my concerns was, "there is nothing wrong with the tires and we can fix the problem of you bring it back". Im a full time student and work full time, I don't have time to bring a car back to a shop to let them fix their obvious incompetence. Mind you, u have already returned to this business more times than should have been needed for the services I received. I understand everyone makes mistakes, but when you make mistakes, the proper thing to do in customer service is make up (for lack of a better term) for these mistakes. I called the owner of this business as well as the location itself and neither of them seemed to understand the value of a customers time. I will not be returning to Midas and I strongly urge everyone else to take their car maintenance needs elsewhere. I will also be getting in contact with better business bureau to document my concerns about this very unprofessional business establishment. I have been a customer of Midas in Lodi for about 20 years. I have trusted them with multiple vehicles. They have always been honest and trustworthy when Ken was the owner. A few years ago a new owner took over and I was skeptical to continue taking my car there. The service remained ok, not great but ok. There is a new owner now and this guy is a not trustworthy. I first noticed it when I was waiting 4+ hours on a quoted 1.5 hour job, three of the four customers in the office had issues with work done and price inconsistencies. The customer service has really gone downhill, very condescending and rude. The quality of the work is no longer what it was. Unexpectedly, it was explained to me that my serpentine belt needed replacing on my Nissan Altima, $103.91. Ugh! Do I or don't I replace it? on a tight budget! Alternative is to break down while driving. WARNING!!! Never in a million years and under no circumstance let these mechanics at this shop touch your car. They are hands down the worst and most dishonest mechanics I've ever dealt with in life. These people run a complete scam out of this shop. They will straight face lie to you and insist you need thousands of dollars worth of unnecessary work done. They will intentionally do sloppy and terrible work so you will be conned into all the unnecessary work. My wife and I brought our 2000 Subaru Outback in for some routine break work and was called and told we needed all the struts replaced and quotes $1200. We refused the service and soon after the work was done a clicking groaning sound developed in the front end when breaking. I brought back in for them to look at it and again they insisted it was the struts making the noise. I'm not incredibly knowledgeable about car problems but know enough that I was positive they were fine. We just brought into honest local mechanic at Mikes Auto and was told they didn't lubricate either front breaks and that the struts were fine. They lubricated and cleaned the rust of the front breaks for $95. This review is meant to help someone avoid this kind of situation and always find a honest mechanic. Midas in Lodi are scam artists targeting people who are not knowledgeable about cars and ripping them off for thousands of dollars. This place should not be allowed to operate in this town. I have had my car serviced at this location multiple times for oil changes. I called on Aug 11th at 10:30 am to schedule an appointment for my brakes to be done on Tuesday Aug 15. I was quoted 240 for brake pads and an alignment. I arrived 30 minutes early to my appointment to discuss pricing again. My profile could not be found so the employee made a new account. There were no other customers so I didn't expect to be there very long. I asked to add an oil change and I agreed to the new price. I was told the oil changed and brake inspection would be done first and take only 30 minutes. 30 minutes went by and he came back with a list of what needed to be done and how much. I was hesitant by the price because my brakes had only started making noise a few weeks ago. I agreed to the price without the back brakes being done, signed the papers, and was told it would be another 30 to 40 minutes. There still wasn't another customer so I figured I could deal with the price for such quick and efficient service. An hour goes by, another employee comes in and was quietly talking to the employee at the front desk. A couple phone calls were made and he finally apologized for the extra 30 minutes of delay. The shop didn't have the parts and they were waiting for them to be delivered. I was a little disappointed because I had called the week prior, discussed in detail the price and my type of car. A basic 2009 honda civic. How could the shop not have parts for a car they knew was coming in for specifically a brake replacement? 2 hours went by, no one came up and gave me an update or apology. If I would've known the amount of time it was going to take, I would've left and ran errands that I needed to do on my only day off that week. My mom, who's car it is and I use for school and work, calls me to ask for an update and I tell her I haven't been updated for 2 hours. My mom had to call and ask when the car would be done. All of a sudden my car was ready. I wasn't offered an apology, reduced price, or even coupons. I paid and left. The next day, I was driving to work and my steering wheel began to shake extremely hard when I hit 60 mph. I slowed down and noticed it pulled to the right as soon as I let go. I had to drive in the slow lane and was late to work. I paid 90 dollars for an alignment which obviously didn't get down, which means the tire rotation and balance wasn't done either, I can only assume. My whole experience was completely disappointing and I will not be returning to that location. I had to take my car to another chain repair shop to have the alignment redone and my tires correctly rotated and balanced. I ended up spending 3 times as much as I was quoted and possibly damaging parts of my car because of the low quality work done on my car. read more
