Primm's Automotive - Mike, a worthy mechanic under the hood found the issue after careful diagnosis.

As a woman I felt only respect and professionalism from him which is more than I can say about many other experiences I've had at other auto shops. I will return here for future service.

The gentleman that spoke to me about my car was professional but the owner Primm was not…read more I visited Primm's Auto for just a simple diagnostic - but left with more than what I asked. My car, that I have had for a year to 14-months was making a rattling sound - that's it nothing more or nothing less. My late father was a mechanic so I do keep up with maintenance on my vehicle. Due to me not having a ride I had to sit in the establishment to wait for my service to be completed and as I waited I witnessed the owner conversing with his employees about the customers. I'm assuming these were regulars because of how comfortable with each other saying certain things but as soon as they left he made the statement "That's why I do not like black people" and Primm is an African American man. I should have known then that this business looks as people as just a source of income (mainly elderly people or women he assumes has no automotive sense) After getting told the results of my diagnostic I was quoted with a job to fix it of $1300 to fix a water pump and timing belt so roughly $1100 in labor for a part that costs no more than $200. After I declined due to the (what I believe) unjust price I paid $108 for my diagnostic and was given my car back. I am writing this review in my car that just received back and my vehicle is somehow low on oil (never had any leakage whatsoever). My cars RPM is jumping to 4, idling heavy, and I cannot accelerate and the response I was given was that my car's performance just so happened to decrease after letting them look at it and as they told me before to get it fixed or my cars engine will fail soon. If you are a native of Nashville - this business is the Car Concepts of automotive repair/service. If you aren't do not go unless you are friends/family of the workers or else you will be spending thousands or getting a new vehicle all together. Happy holidays

What could have been a terrible trip, was saved by Firestone. I was able to bring in my car,…read morewithout an appointment. They checked it over, told me what was wrong, ordered the part, and fixed it in about 2 hours. They were friendly and kept me in the loop throughout the time I was there. Highly recommended!!!

Completely appalled by the manipulation (and outright lies) that I experienced at this location!!…read more As a 26-year-old woman, I strongly believe my lack of automotive knowledge was taken advantage of. I came in for a routine oil change and by the end of my visit was handed a repair estimate for over $3,000 and told my vehicle was unsafe to drive unless I approved the work. According to Firestone, I urgently needed new tires, rear brakes and rotors, suspension work (including replacement bushings, link joints, ball pins) and repairs for a leaking water pump. I was made to feel like driving my car without authorizing these repairs would be irresponsible. Fortunately, I trusted my instincts and got a second opinion. The second mechanic measured every tire in front of me, measured my brake pads, inspected the vehicle thoroughly, and explained every finding. ALL FOUR of my tires were safely in the green. My front and rear brakes measured 8mm and 6mm respectively, with plenty of life remaining (!!). There was no water pump leak, or issues with my suspension. The catastrophic picture Firestone painted simply did not match the condition of my car. I cannot speak to why there was such a dramatic difference between the two inspections. What I can say is that one shop tried to sell me more than $3,200 in "urgent" repairs, while another walked me through my vehicle and determined that those major repairs were not necessary. If I had trusted Firestone without question, I would have been out thousands of dollars. If you don't know much about cars, please get a second opinion before authorizing expensive work here. It may save you a tremendous amount of money. Disgusting behavior for a business!!

DO NOT RECOMMEND!!!…read more This was the WORST experience that I have ever had with an auto mechanic. I was told it would take a couple of months to have my old car like new. I was excited. He wanted money up front which I thought was unusual for a reputable shop. I paid him the money anyway, thinking in a short time all would be well. The two months turned into ten with Fast Shop Auto blaming everything on the parts they had ordered. Finally he called and said it was ready. When I came down he told me that one installed new speaker was not working but he could fix it. They said that the problem might be a new wire or radio problem. He said, " I can fix it , but you will have to pay me to take the dash out again. You have enough money in your deposit to cover my labor." I said, "Let me get this straight, I paid you to fix my car the first time and you did not correct the problem. Now you want to charge me again to fix the problem that you did not fix the first time? No, just refund what is left of my deposit and I will take my car." His reply, "The contract states the money is nonrefundable." After some heated words he agreed to return what was left of my deposit. When I got the car home there was a large scratch on the hood of the car which I asked about and of course they said they did not do it. Also, the dash heating controls were incorrectly installed and a heating duct fell from under the dash on my way home. The defrost control responded to medium heat while the other controls were mixed up as well. I was told that the heating unit was bad, but it was obvious the vacuum tubes were attached incorrectly. Also, the eight track player had been disabled and it worked when the car entered the shop. It was difficult being almost eighty years old, but I corrected several of his blunders. I was not going to write a review due to one similar to mine was posted a few months ago. When double checking the name of the business for a friend to make sure he avoided Fast Lane Shop I noticed that the review had been taken down. So I decided to take the time and effort to write my review to see how long it will stay up. PLEASE HEED THIS WARNING!!!

DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR HERE. THEY DONT CONTACT CUSTOMERS TO MAKE THINGS RIGHT EITHER AFTER THEY WRONG…read moreYOU. I took my car here 8 months ago when my car wouldn't start. Looking back my first thought should've been to change the battery first. However the mechanic spot said the battery was fine and assured me it was the gas pump even though they checked the gas pump months prior and got a piece replaced then. They finished servicing my car then gave it back. A week after my car stopped again. Got a locksmith to jumpstart it then got a new battery and the car finally started running. Fast forward to now I've been driving a lot and realizing the same symptoms as before when I took my car there are starting to occur again showing that I need a new battery such as, faulty gas reading, not reading key fob, etc. Im sure the car will stop running if I don't change the battery soon. These were the reason the Mechanic Spot decided to change my gas pump instead of telling me to get a new battery. They pretty much extorted me out of 1000 dollars on parts my car didn't need, it just needed a new battery. They lied about car repairs that I didn't need and didn't solve the actual problem. Then held my car, giving me the wrong time for final pickup causing me to miss work and money I needed at the time. I tell this story to say this. THE REPAIR SHOP ON DICKERSON ROAD THAT GOES BY "THE MECHANIC SPOT" IS THE WORST PLACE POSSIBLE TO TAKE YOUR CAR TO. UNEQUIVOCALLY. TRUST ME.

It turns out all my car needed was a $30 coil pack. That was about 5 years ago and my car still runs great. Just a couple months later, there was another incident. I was willing to give them the benefit of the doubt from the last bad encounter and say they made an honest mistake. But the next visit confirmed that they are definitely out to screw their customers. My other car needed a control arm and their quote was unbelievably expensive. I told him there was no way I was paying that amount for a control arm. He then wanted me to pay his exorbitant labor cost after giving me a ridiculous quote. I'd urge everyone to stay away from this place.
