I would not recommend this place at all. I brought my car in because I was experiencing acceleration issues and noticeable jerkiness while driving. After inspecting the vehicle, I was told that I needed a new transmission and was quoted just under $9,000 for the repair. I reviewed the diagnostic report they provided, which mentioned battery issues, several transmission-related codes, and other findings. I paid $160 for the diagnostic and left. I then took my car to a shop that specializes in transmissions and came highly recommended by several people, including a Toyota specialist that does not focus on transmissions. After thoroughly inspecting the vehicle, they could not find any issues with the transmission and did not charge me for the inspection. I also had the battery checked again and was told there was nothing wrong with it. I had the fuel system cleaned as well, and my car has been running perfectly fine ever since. I would personally save your money and stay away from The Mechanic Spot! read more

DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR HERE. THEY DONT CONTACT CUSTOMERS TO MAKE THINGS RIGHT EITHER AFTER THEY WRONG YOU. I took my car here 8 months ago when my car wouldn't start. Looking back my first thought should've been to change the battery first. However the mechanic spot said the battery was fine and assured me it was the gas pump even though they checked the gas pump months prior and got a piece replaced then. They finished servicing my car then gave it back. A week after my car stopped again. Got a locksmith to jumpstart it then got a new battery and the car finally started running. Fast forward to now I've been driving a lot and realizing the same symptoms as before when I took my car there are starting to occur again showing that I need a new battery such as, faulty gas reading, not reading key fob, etc. Im sure the car will stop running if I don't change the battery soon. These were the reason the Mechanic Spot decided to change my gas pump instead of telling me to get a new battery. They pretty much extorted me out of 1000 dollars on parts my car didn't need, it just needed a new battery. They lied about car repairs that I didn't need and didn't solve the actual problem. Then held my car, giving me the wrong time for final pickup causing me to miss work and money I needed at the time. I tell this story to say this. Crooks. They told me I needed a $3,800 rebuilt engine. They even showed me bogus compression readings. Luckily, I did my own compression readings before approving the work. It turns out all my car needed was a $30 coil pack. That was about 5 years ago and my car still runs great. Just a couple months later, there was another incident. I was willing to give them the benefit of the doubt from the last bad encounter and say they made an honest mistake. But the next visit confirmed that they are definitely out to screw their customers. My other car needed a control arm and their quote was unbelievably expensive. I told him there was no way I was paying that amount for a control arm. He then wanted me to pay his exorbitant labor cost after giving me a ridiculous quote. Took my 2011 f150 in about a month ago for emergency radiator troubles and they were able to squeeze me in easily for next day. They diagnosed that I had a pretty bad oil leak and thank god they did because I was able to put it off for a couple weeks while I saved up the money for the fix before it got too bad. I called to make the appointment as soon as my check engine light turned on and easy as that, the appointment was set. It turned into more of an emergency situation and I was able to come in the next day, the day before my originally scheduled appointment with no issues. Katie Dias helped me both times. She's very friendly, and open to explaining the pricing as well as not beat around the bush when it comes to how long it'll take like other shops do. I went to the shop to get a routine oil change which went smoothly. It was a tad pricey but they got my car back in decent time. What has transpired afterwards might be the worst customer service I've ever dealt with. When I received my car, I noticed that there was several scratches on my drivers side rim which was not there before the oil change. I called this out to the shop and they expressed they would look at the garage video and send that over to me as they would not accept responsibility. I've had to call multiple times and they ensured me that the video was going to be sent but they had been busy. 3 days later and no video received... when I called this morning to ask about the video I was gaslit by the receptionist that my requests for the video were overbearing on their end and they had a shop to run. Even though they had told me in previous calls that they were going to send the video. At this point, I would NEVER recommend this shop as they are shady and do not want to own up to the damage they did my car by not sending this video. Please avoid as there are way more reputable shops in the area that would never treat a customer like this! read more

I took my car in for repairs and was utterly insulted, gaslighted and still had to pay for not only the extremely poor job they did, but also the damage they created to a completely different part of my car! The receptionist had the audacity to insult me and the car they accepted for repairs, and when confronted on the new damage to my car, became extremely defensive and tried to make me seem like I was lying about it! These folks are not trustworthy. After spending thousands of dollars supporting this company, I am now on a mission to ensure no one else suffers the consequences of this awful repair shop. BEWARE. They take advantage of those who do not know about cars - and do not stand by their warranty. $1000+ later, ac does not work. They replaced an ac compressor. $1000 spent. Went back and they said there is an electrical issue, and said they 'fixed the wiring'. No sign of any wire harnesses fixed / replaced. Another $100 spent. The ac still did not work. At this point I had to get involved. Car went back to shop and they claimed that the condenser was blocked and another $1000 to fix. When I asked them to show me the diagnostic pressure readings, they would not. Hard to believe a car has a compressor issue, then an electrical issue, then a condenser issue - maybe it is a good day to buy a lottery ticket. I have had 2 other shops diagnose the car and both reports say it is a faulty compressor. Note pressures look normal on high and low side indicating condenser is fine. They refuse to replace the compressor that is under warranty. And the car still has no ac. Either they are incompetent or take advantage of people. Either way I suggest you stay away. I can only imagine if this was related to vehicle safety. I would not put kids in a car after this place has touched it. read more

PLEASE READ BEFORE GOING TO THE MECHANIC SPOT: It's very hard to look over reviews and feel like you're getting a solid opinion, as most people only take the time to review if their experience was really good or really bad. I gave The Mechanic Spot the benefit of the doubt as there were enough good reviews to make me feel the spot was probably legitimate. Please don't make my mistake. My wife and I visited Nashville in early July on our first trip to the city, and as luck would have it we woke up to a dead car one our first day. As we had already been having battery issues, I knew the solution was something more than simply jump starting it, as it would just die again 30 minutes later. We had the car taken to The Mechanic Spot and waited for the diagnosis. I called ahead and was told "Yes, we have an open bay and can work on it right away if you get it here now," which is what we did. No more than 15 minutes later the car was in their shop. Fast forward 5 hours later and the shop was going to be closing in 30 minutes and we still hadn't been called. When I call them back they say, "Oh, yes it's ready. You can come get it." We were never informed what the exact issue was, or what the price was going to be. When I arrived, the gentleman behind the counter said, "We determined there was a short in your dashboard that was draining the battery." They charged us for 2 hours of labor and all in all, we were out $300. The guy knew we were not local and were in town just for 2 days. I wish I had never told him that. Fast forward to yesterday. Our car died again, exact same issue, in the exact same way, only a few weeks later. We had it taken to another auto shop, this time the one down the street where we've done a lot of business. The owner called me up and asked what was going on, and I explained the same thing I told The Mechanic Spot, and mentioned what they had "done" to fix it. Well, they got the issue fixed immediately and called me back to say, "The issue was the connection terminals. They weren't getting enough contact with the battery. Whatever that shop did in Nashville, they pulled one over on you. We looked in the dash, there was no issue, nor does it look like any work has been done." Our car is now up and running perfectly and it was a $60 repair, from an honest shop. We paid over $300 to The Mechanic Spot for a repair we were straight up told was pointless and didn't fix anything. Please don't make our mistake. This is not an honest shop. There are a lot of comments on here pointing to this conclusion, but there's enough good experiences to make you think, "They can't be that bad." Yes, they are. Look for someone else. Especially if you're out of town, you will pay the "tourist tax" if you take your car here. Stay away. read more

I needed a shop that could get me in quicker for an oil leak repair because my regular shop was booked. Mechanic Spot told us that they would still need to diagnose ($145) my vehicle themselves and not make repairs based off my estimate from another shop, but that the diagnostic fee would go towards any work done. I agreed to the diagnostic work and they called me back within 15 minutes (rushed) but only mentioned one of the oil leaks (unthorough) (3 per the other shop) plus a new issue with an estimate of about $700. I mentioned the other two leaks and they said they would get back with me.They called back and confirmed two other "minimal" leaks but didn't mention the change in costs, so I asked them to email me an estimate, which came to about $1,300. Since the estimate was almost double the estimate from my usual mechanic, I did not approve the oil leak repairs, but stated that I would do the oil change, which was listed on the estimate. Upon pickup, we asked why they charged me an additional $75 for an oil change (they didn't even top off my washer fluid or give me an oil change sticker) and why they did not apply the $145 diagnostics towards the work done (oil change) We challenged the extra $75 charge, but they said the oil change didn't count because I didn't do any of the diagnosed work. Had I known that I would not have done the oil change, but I didn't want the $145 diagnostic fee to go to waste. The following day I received a text message that Mechanic Spot added me to their "mechanic family" (without my permission) and they asked how things went even after I already told them the day of that I was unhappy and reluctant to pay $220. They told me they wanted to make things right for me, but when I said they could make it right by refunding me the $70 for the oil change, they never wrote back (I have text receipts). It is Mechanic Spot's job to make sure the customer understands the final cost before work begins. Not only was Mechanic Spot not thorough in their diagnosis, they were misleading in their communication, and they overcharged me. They have poor customer service and since they failed to make it right and ignored me, I regret using this shop and I do not recommend it. read more

We were roadtripping from Indiana on a 98 degree day when our AC went out. We stopped at 4 other service shops along the way to Nashville, and no one could help us out. We were planning to stop for the night in Nashville, so we looked online and called the Mechanic Spot and they said they could help. We had the car there at 8:00am the next morning and they had diagnostics complete by 9am, and a new compressor ordered, delivered, and installed before noon before we'd even finished brunch. Unbelievably good service, honest, and most importantly we have ice cold AC and can continue our trip with hardly any delay. Cannot recommend the Mechanic Spot enough! read more

When i received the quote i politely declined. after much back and forth i was quoted 92 dollars for the diagnostic work. Upon pick up (with tow truck) i was charged $150 for the diagnostic work. I took my car to the mechanic spot to fix a belt on my van. Three days later they called me and told me my van was ready and I could tell from the ladies voice that something was wrong. When I got there I noticed that the back window of my van have been broken out. I walked in and asked her what happened to the window in my car? She pretended that she didn't know what I was talking about. She then went into the garage and came back 10 minutes later.When she came back she told me "oh, it was like that when you brought it here!" I was livid. I told her that was complete bullshit it was not broken and how could you lie to me?. She then told me to get out and then she called the police on me. I waited for the police because I wanted to file a complaint. She came back and yelled at me several times. I was upset and was waiting for the police. She left again and refused to talk to me I After an hour the police did not show so I decided to call the police myself. I called the police but could not get through. There was another person there who was seeking a refund on his car and they refused to see him as well. I realized I wasn't going to get anywhere so I took my car and left. But I want to put this on record- this is the absolute worst crap garbage auto- shop on planet earth. They are crooks, criminals, liars and unprofessional . I am Absolutely serious about this. Nothing is worse that being on the first leg of your 3,000 mile road trip and your AC starts acting up. Being from out of town and having to find a shop to work on our car is pretty overwhelming. We managed to find these guys on Yelp and reviews were good. We were able to get our car in right away on a Saturday morning, and they had us up and running by lunch. The prices were to be expected, and they didn't try to sell us on services we didn't need. The owner was really nice and offered us suggestions on where to go since we were staying the night. After reading google reviews, i felt as if i could somewhat trust that i would receive good business. $340 later to have two of my headlight bulbs replaced was a pretty devastating blow (considering i typically get my bulbs replaced for $55). I was charged the diagnostics fee, an hour of labor and then the price of the bulbs. I paid the bill but will not be returning for any future services. A diagnostics fee should only be applied to those who are to take service elsewhere. Protecting the mechanics time. The whole "crediting amount" of the "diagnostics fee" towards service is very grey for me, and when it comes to grey areas involving a customers money, that is unsettling as the credit did not add up at time of pay. I would of been more than satisfied to pay for labor and for whatever parts required. The diagnostics portion does not make for return clients & the charge is unnecessary given the work that was done in this particular situation. read more

Went to The Mechanic Spot because I was having problems with my AC. I called all around and they were the quickest to get me in and the most reasonably priced. They were able to repair my AC the same day while other mechanics were saying it was going to take days before they had the parts. After picking it up, I immediately knew it was working at 100%. It's summer time now and I'm so glad I took it there. I would highly recommend using them for all of your car needs! The staff was fast, friendly and true to their word, which we all know is important when it comes to dealing with car problems. read more

We got our bearings replaced today from somewhere else and they said someone obviously beat the bearings in to force it to fit. The only previous mechanics I took my car too was here (The Mechanic Spot). Also when I brought my car here for the first time due to my wheels making a strange noise. I had no check engine lights or anything but we got the car back with 3 lights. He tells us to bring it back the next day and he'll check it out. Then tells us the lights were there before we brought it in and charged us for $100 inspection. Just ridiculous. These are the reasons dirty car mechanic stereotypes exist. I have no idea how there rating is so high. I'm sure they can do minor work just fine while overcharging but for major problems I would stay away or you'll realize a year or two down the road that they do dirty work for temporary fixes read more

Late August of 2020 my transmission went out. Googled transmission repair near by and Mechanic Spot popped up. I took it to them and they recommended they install a remanufactured transmission with a 3 year warranty. They ordered a transmission and after 3 weeks it still had not arrived. Finally after over a month and $4,650, I got my truck back. I wish that was the end. I noticed the speedometer kept bouncing around and the check engine light would come on. I took it back and over the next few months they finally admitted there was something wrong. Late May 2021 I took it back for a whole new transmission. They installed a new one and it didn't work so they put yet another one in. Fast forward to July 27 I finally get my truck back with the 3rd transmission they put in. I've put about 15 miles on it and so far so good. In the last calendar year they had my truck for multiple months. They put a lot of the blame on the "parts company" with which they ordered the transmission 3 times. I don't know, but the fact that my truck now reeks of cigarette smoke means they are blowing at least some smoke. read more

These guys fucking blow, had them do a simple clutch job on my car, ended up returning my car with a torn ground strap making my car not start, left my pcv hoses unattatched giving me a CEL, and neglected to replace my pilot bearing, which FRIED my transmission. If that isnt enough, they refuse to take responsibility for this because I found all of these problems myself after the fact. They overcharge like crazy. I had them look into an alarming smell in the interior of my car. They looked for a few hours (supposedly), couldn't find anything, and went to charge me over $200 for labor (I forget the exact amount). I essentially told them that I respect the work and understand that they need to get paid, but that it was absolutely absurd to pay them over $200 for what they did (and didn't find). He didn't really fight me on reducing the cost a bit (likely because he knows they mark up their labor like crazy) but I still ended up paying them around $150. /// I thought the smell was an emergency, so I took my car to them with it being a Sunday and my usual mechanic being closed on weekends. I wish it would have happened on a week day because I just took my car to my usual place and had them take a look. They charged me $0 to look into it. That's right, zero. The great reviews made us choose them. However, they lied to us, insulted us, and we were yelled at after we paid and the vehicle still wasn't fixed. Maybe a simple fix or tire repair would get a 5 star rating, but everyone should be treated respectfully and honestly in doing business and for that, this company would get a minus 10 stars. My 2002 minivan with 275,000 miles on it began having problems with its radiator cooling fan while I was on a road trip down the east coast and through NC & TN. I called The Mechanic Spot two days before arriving in Nashville in order to get it checked out on my stop-over there. They were expecting me when I arrived and immediately started running diagnostics. I assumed it would take at least a full day, but was delighted when they called first thing the next morning to tell me the car was fixed. They were fast, efficient and very reasonably priced. Thanks to The Mechanic Spot, I changed my mind about junking my minivan when I get home to Maine and am now going for at least 300,000 miles.
