I am a former employee of Midas in Manassas, and I am extremely disappointed by the lack of professionalism, accountability, and response from upper management. During my employment, I raised serious concerns regarding workplace conduct, management practices, and situations that created an uncomfortable environment for employees. I followed the proper channels and reached out to HR, yet after 4-5 days, I received no response or follow-up. I also requested HR contact information from Area Manager Tyler Brisbane and was not provided with it. My concerns involved leadership conduct, including issues involving Area Manager Tyler Brisbane, Service Manager Carrie Zollman, and employee Hunter. I raised concerns regarding inappropriate workplace discussions, relationships between management and employees that created the appearance of favoritism, and conversations of a sexual nature that employees found uncomfortable and unprofessional. I also raised concerns regarding inconsistent enforcement of workplace expectations, including situations where certain employees appeared to receive different treatment regarding schedules, attendance, and accountability. What is most concerning is that these issues were brought forward, yet there appeared to be no meaningful effort to investigate, address, or resolve the concerns. A company's culture is reflected by how it responds when employees speak up. Employees deserve a workplace where professionalism, fairness, respect, and accountability are upheld at every level of management. Midas has a responsibility to ensure its leadership reflects the standards the company represents. When employees raise serious concerns, they deserve to be heard and taken seriously. True leadership is demonstrated through integrity, accountability, and the willingness to address difficult issues. read more

I called inquiring if they could do a mandatory state inspection on my vehicle - they said absolutely, and they fit me in last-minute and told me a vehicle had just left and I was free to come in as they had time to do it almost right away. I usually get quotes on random things wrong with my car when I have service done elsewhere (especially being a woman), but this does not happen here. Scammers! I came in to get an oil change. The guy told me I needed rear brakes and the rotors needed resurfacing. He quoted me a price $100.00 more than the going rate. I took the car to my usual (trusted) mechanic who said the brakes and rotors were fine. Beware women coming in alone. They think you are an idiot right off the turnip wagon! read more

My 1st experience here was going for an inspection and emissions test in my wife's 4runner back in September. I checked everything before heading out on this rainy day. I get there and wait and wait and then finally am told it failed due to a light being burned out, but they could do it for about $80 (for an under $10 bulb). I said no thank you, I'll change it myself (even though I was confused why all a sudden it burnt out), I went off to purchase a light at autozone and went home to change it out in the pouring rain. I finally get everything off and get to the light. THE LIGHT WAS UNPLUGGED AND BULB WORKED! So I go back to pay the extra $1 to have them pass it. Fast forward to this week. I figure you know, I'll give them another chance. I really need 4 new tires bad, but I figured I would start with my inspection and emissions to see the service i receive this go round. So I made an appointment online to get my car inspected and emissions done. I received an email that they will get back to me to confirm the appt within 30mins. Here we are 3 days later, and still no one has reached out, and I've tried calling twice with no answer. So, I guess Midas helped me make up my mind to not use this store again. I'm new to Manassas as of August this year and am looking for recommendations of who to trust and give my business to. Besides what's mentioned above, we also need breaks replaced in another car but can't find anyone worth giving my money to. I went to the local NTB for an oil change and asked if they'd check a tire that kept leaking air. After checking me out for the oil change, I asked, "So what was up with the tire?" He goes out to ask and comes back and said oh he said he couldn't find anything wrong with it." You would have thought they would have noticed how bad my tires were and tried to sell me tires but they surprisingly didn't but honestly I think they forgot to check and didn't want to deal with it. Wasn't until a week later, and I was on day 2 of a road trip that my spouse made a comment about how bald they are. What's up with these places out here in Manassas? Customer service was good, but parts are overpriced. A quick look at most auto stores will net you better parts at a better price. I was quoted cheap spark plugs for literally three times what they cost at nearly every auto store I looked at. Not much to really say here that has not been said. They will work with ya to get what you need done. I had a driver side window and motor to replace. They where able to get the part second hand and replace it. However I had to get them to do it twice. The first time they did a half ass job. This places is just like every other chain repair place. Jiffy Lube found a nail in my tire and recommended I get it plugged. So I took my car to Midas to get my tire plugged. The customer service rep came out and had me slowly roll my vehicle backward and forward, so he could locate the nail. I did this for about 5-7 mins, but he could not see the nail or anything wrong with my tire. I ask if they could put my car on the rotary lift, so it would be easier to find the nail, and he agreed. After my car was lifted, the technician found the nail and pointed it out to me. Another technician told me it would be $39.99 to plug the tire and I went back into the customer area. I proceed to give the customer service rep my information and then he told me he needed to go back into the shop to get my mileage. About five mins he came back and said we found two more problems. He said they found a four-inch slash in the tire. It's weird that Jiffy Lube did not see this four-inch slash or the customer service rep when he was inspecting my tire. They also said oxidation on one of the lugnuts had occurred, so they were having problems getting it off. Which is very unlikely oxidation occurred because my tires were 6 months old and I had a tire repair a month before my appointment. Now a $39.99 repair increase drastically. Had previously taken my car to Sears, where they gave me an outrageous estimate to repair the back brakes. I knew that all that was needed was new pads, and to have the rotors turned. So, I took the car to Midas. They charge a $47 fee for inspection, which is put toward any work you have done. I told the guy at the counter about my experience at Sears, and he reassured me that they would show me whatever they found. Sure enough, a little while later the tech took me back to my car and showed me everything he found. We discussed some options on the spot, and in the end we ended up doing new pads and turning the rotors. The best part though, is Midas would have done both the front and back brakes (with lifetime warranty) for less than the price Sears quoted me to fix the back brakes only. Gotta love a shop that is up front and honest, and willing to show you what they've found on your vehicle. read more

The guys here worked tirelessly to diagnose and fix a very tricky electrical problem that was randomly preventing my car from starting. Every time I had it towed, the car would start right up again as soon as it got to the shop. Even dealership diagnostic equipment showed no problems. Finally, one horrible rainy day, she died in the hospital parking lot. For once a jump succeeded. I drove her to Midas, shut her off, and THANK GOODNESS she wouldn't start up again! Took a tech five minutes to find the problem, maybe 15 minutes to fix it. She's been perfectly reliable for many months. Throughout all the many times my car went to the shop, I was charged either nothing or a nominal fee. So yep I love my Midas. read more

I came here for a vehicle inspection. I failed on three items. 1) Headlights - $100 2) Tire Tread -$200 - Two Tires 3) "Leaking" Power Steering Pump - $400 They offered to restore the headlights for $100 dollars. Other shops will charge you $50 or $25 DIY at Autozone (what I did). The tires were overpriced. I got 2 for $160 after installation elsewhere. These are forgivable since an educated consumer can shop around for the best price on parts / labor. The power steering pump was down-right vehicle inspection fraud. They lifted my car to "show" me what bad shape the power steering pump was in. The next day, I jacked up my car and applied some break cleaner and checked again in 24 hours - no leak... it was just dirty from normal use. The power steering pump was damp and dirty as the car is 6 years old. POWER STEERING FLUID LEVELS WERE IN SAFE RANGE. If there was a true leak, the fluid would have been well below the minimum fill lines for hot and cold. The VA inspection criteria is defined here: http://lis.virginia.gov/cgi-bin/legp604.exe?000+reg+19VAC30-70-470. They cannot and should not fail you for dampness. Had I gone forward, I would have lost my genuine Toyota engineered power steering pump for a generic one and would have been worse off, not to mention being robbed of $400 dollars. A friend (mechanic turned IT technician) helped guide me away from this trap. Oil changes may be okay here, but leave serious work to an honest mechanic. I used to have inspections done here as I would fix anything that failed myself, but I had a similar issue with fraud on my wife's sway bar link (had slight play - they claimed it was broken). On second thought, don't bring your vehicle here at all for any reason. Shame on me for giving them a second chance. read more

Very expensive!! I heard a lot of good things about this place and i went there to have my car fixed for a dragging rear emergency brakes. I left my car there and went home until they give me a quote on how much it would cost to fix the problem. I got a call and i was startled by the amount of cash they quoted for changing rear rotor, brake pads (both) and one caliper. They quoted around $800. The parts by themselves are not that high priced. I felt i was ripped off and told him that is too much for me. Finally we agreed on $650. I wanted to cancel it but i had no choice. Never going there again....if Anyone going there....make sure you search for replacement parts on local auto stores or online to check how much they cost before you let them order the parts for you. read more

Went there twice over the years and got inspections and estimates. Each time, the estimate was inflated. And each time I got the work done for significantly less elsewhere. My wife, against my advice, took her car here recently. And overpaid. These guys are probably okay with brakes, but charge hundreds of dollars more for the same real work as other shops, including other Midas shops in this area. They do not attempt to address problems in a cost-effective manner; they soak people. read more

Stay away!!! I went there several months ago for an oil change. I had to have the car checked for something and I was told it was leaking fluid everywhere. I drove over an hour to my mechanic in Winchester, yep it was leaking, oil. the idiot at Midas overfilled the oil by several quarts and it was leaking from the gaskets and the drain plug was not in tight. Wish I could take away a star. The service was very abrupt and rude. They overcharge on parts and labor. They claim to have fixed all the problems, which wasn't much, for close to $2,000, and more problems showed up. So the vehicle is taking back there and they're trying to charge another $500 for the problems that weren't there in the beginning until they put their hands on it. They claim to have everything fixed the first time, which they don't, and they tried to rob people. Which I believe most of the time they successfully do. read more

My son took his Hyundai Elantra in to get an inspection. They failed it because of a trans mount and the emergency brake. He was quoted a price of 358 dollars. When he went to bring it in the next day, they changed their minds...now the price is 885 dollars, oh and the warehouse sent the wrong part, come back tomorrow. Now he's going today and they've already let him know the part price was wrong and the part is 100 dollars more. My son is going to college and needs this inspection done by tomorrow. If he didn't need this to pass inspection I would take it somewhere else. As it is, they will NEVER get another of our cars through their shady, price-gouging doors. Three days and three different quotes? Give me a break. Do yourself a favor and stay far away from these people. read more

Do not go to this Midas. It had the absolute worst service and customer service of any store I have ever visited. I went in for a simple oil change and I am leaving with a $400 bill. The mechanics jammed my key into the ignition until it was stuck and then proceeded to tell me that I am responsible for paying for a new ignition and labor because of their mistake. When I approached the manager he rudely told me he wasn't going to "play this game." I would have taken my car elsewhere but wa unable to do so because the damage they did made it impossible to drive. I will not ever visit this or any Midas again. read more

I've never had an issue with this spot accept they do tend to get a little busy so it can be hard to get quotes over the phone. However they do not seem to be crooks. But for the most part they are all professional and friendly. Even if they are a little dry behind the counter a smile and a kind word goes a long way. That counter can be rocking at times between the waiting clients, calling clients and new ones coming in the door on top of the mechanics returning tickets after they're finished. So give the fellas a break. They kept it real when I needed some axle work done and told me I'd come out better purchasing my part and having them do the labor. Which I did! Saved me a few hundred dollars. That meant a lot being a single mom with a kid in college. Thanks Guys! I will definitely be back. read more

Their warranty work is in line with what I expect from a Muffler place. Desk staff are friendly in all the times I've talked with them. When they identified a problem with my front control arms, they quoted me OEM equipment ($600) installation, rather than looking at any aftermarket ($200-300) solutions. Synopsis: Keep your services to whatever they offer warranty on. Any general car repairs should go elsewhere. Since they are independently owned, any labor/quality issues can't be addressed by another store anyway. read more

Although I must say my experience with this business was several moons ago (probably four and a half years or so), I have had a terrible taste in my mouth every time I venture on past it since. This was the typical auto repair situation most females fear... I got taken for quite a ride here by the "mechanics" inspecting my POS VW that I reluctantly owned at the time. After I was given a hefty estimate for repair, along with some very sketchy and unwarranted feedback on my car's state, I decided to get a second opinion. This was not only expensive and time consuming, but come to find out the repairs that the Midas kids insisted on throwing my way were completely unnecessary. I owned the car for a couple more years after getting it fixed successfully elsewhere and never needed the work done that was determined necessary by the Midas kids. Horrible! I had an appointment, the mechanic took my car somewhere so I assumed it was being worked on. I was wrong. I was left sitting in the waiting area for 1.5 hours before they looked at my car. I told Noe at the front desk that I was unhappy and his response was basically "whatever." I was there for front brake pads. After all the add ons my quote was close to $400. I left without having anything done. Same or better parts at Auto Zone cost 1/4 of my quote. I am never going to Midas again even though we have the lifetime brakes. read more

I hadn't been to a Midas in decades but walked into this Midas on a Sunday 45 min before they were going to close for a safety inspection, and they were kind enough to take my car in when everyone else said "No". I realize I was late and would have understood if they weren't able to take my car but I truly appreciated this. Also came in for an emissions inspection and was out of their in exactly the time they promised it would take, if not sooner. Terrible experience - can best be described as predatory. Went in for an oil change and accepted their spontaneous "free offer" to rotate the tires.....well, in the course of doing that work they said they found all brakes and rotors to be "dangerously worn" and in need of immediate replacement. Estimate was $500, so I took the car to another shop, and they said the rotors were fine and the pads were slightly worn....and that, if needed, a full rotor & pad replacement would run approx $330. There is NOTHING more unscrupulous and reprehensible than using scare tactics on consumers who are forced to trust a nationally recognized chain. COMPLETE RIPOFF THEY DO NOT DESERVE YOUR BUSINESS. read more

I had been going to Midas ever since I moved to Manassas 3 years ago for oil changes & tire rotations. Just the basics. I'll never go there again now. I stopped in for an oil change & tire rotation before heading out on vacation. They told me one of my lug nuts was fused to the wheel stem and in order to complete the tire rotation they would have to remove & replace the wheel stem to the tune of $200. Now first off...they're the only ones who have touched my tires in 3 years...so the fusing of the lug nut which was most likely caused by over tightening was actually their fault to begin with. But whatever...I said to just get it done. 3 hours and almost $300 later they're done and I'm on my way. As I'm driving down the road I realize my steering wheel is shuttering and shaking like crazy until I get up to highway speeds. The car is also veering hard to the left at low speeds. Neither of these things happened prior to them doing the repair work. So after I return from my trip I take my car back. They pull me back into the bay to show me that the passenger tires have failing belts. They point out the dip in the middle of the tires. Said that this is causing the shaking and that cars will veer off to the side which has the bad tires. I point out that mine is veering the opposite direction and ask why. The response was "I don't know". I asked why these failing belts weren't discovered during the tire rotation just a week prior. Again "I don't know". It's called lazy mechanics. The guy who worked on my car was lazy and didn't do his job properly. He rotated tires that should have been replaced. At the very least I should have been informed of the tire situation. Instead they let a customer drive away with a severely damaged tire on the front of my car which could have blown and caused me to lose control of the car. They rotated the tires back the way they were as I most certainly wasn't buying tires through them nor did I have the money to at that time. They quoted me $340 for 2 tires and installation. I obviously decided to price shop as I wasn't going to give anymore money to a place that has lazy employees who do a half assed job. I've also previously paid the extra money to top off fluids only to have my washer fluid be empty a week later. So again...lazy workers who don't care about providing good service. I'll take my money elsewhere. I found the exact tires they quoted me at PepBoys for $40 cheaper per tire. Save your money and go somewhere that has mechanics that actually care about the job they do. read more

Bad and slow service. I took my toyota corolla 2010 model for virginia state inspection to the Manassas center. They tried to charge me $80+labor charges for one DRL bulb that would have costed $10 at any other place. They were trying to cheat me thinking of me as an amateur. They were not ready to accept that they were overcharging me until I said this is absurd and I don't want the services, I can change the DRL bulb on my own and wouldn't mind if the inspection failed and I will go somewhere else. Again after giving me the final quotation and getting my sign on the invoice they tried to charge me more than the said amount. For a DRL bulb with part price $0.99 + $12 labor they tried charging me $30 for labor and increased the price again. Even while I requested them if they could help me put on my new liscence plates as I wasn't able to unbolt the old plates, they gave me a cold look saying, "you want us to do that??" . Common thats basic customer service, I am paying lot of money. At last while paying the bill, I requested it to split on my two cards they didn't even like it and gave a rude reply. I am never going their again and wouldn't recommend anyone else too. Completely disappointed. read more

I have gone to this Midas a few times for oil changes. Today I had to go because my car horn was not working. I was expecting the worst. All that was wrong was the connection was not plugged in all the way. I know I would never have been able to figure it out. They only charged me $23.99! They are always fair, and honest.
