I drove out to Pohanka from DC because when I called them to ask about my extended 100,000 mile warranty they said it just expired but to come out and they will take care of me. Well I got fooled....hard. I got my 90,000 mile check up for $450 and asked them to take a look at 3 of my windows that weren't working to diagnose the problem. When I came to pick up my car they told me that my window's master switch was broken and that it cost $500 to replace it. I said no thank you at this time. Then a gentleman walked me to my car and said here you go. The car's passenger window was half way down with a plastic bag over it, they had not washed it and it was even dirtier than before, the drivers automatic window function did not work anymore and the back right door was not shutting all the way. Not to mention my phone headphones were broken too. So I went inside and talked with Jayson McCullough (Service Manager) and after 10 minutes of deliberations he finally came outside to check out the car. It was Friday evening and he obviously wanted to go home and once he saw the window down he got in the car and drove it around back. Boom, 5 minutes later the cars back and the windows up, but he didn't give me a solution. I asked him why I didn't get a courtesy wash and the other cars leaving all had one. He tried to take my car again to wash it, but I was leaving town and had to go. I asked him about the back door not closing all the way and he used his force and body wait to bend the door back into place. When I asked him about my headphones he rudely said "They could have ben broken before you dropped your car off.'' I left Pohanka that day furious. I got a call asking about my experience. After two other calls Elizabeth Nahas (Personel Manager) called me and first apologized for my experience and invited me back to the dealership to get my windows fixed at cost. She wanted to give me the Pohanka experience and the "Pohanka experience" is the worst customer service experience I have ever had in my life. She also said that Jayson would take care of this and that the staff would know I was coming out at 2pm on Saturday. I was really surprised at her offer and that was the only thing that could have got me to ever step foot in Pohanka again. I went back out to Pohanka and there was no record of my talks with Elizabeth in my file. Tei the service representative was extremely nice and took notes to talk it over with Elizabeth on Monday. On Sunday I got a call and they lost my keys and I don't currently have a back up. I said find them or cut me a new one. They found them on Monday. They also called me a said it was going to be twice as much money as they quoted me. What the heck. So over one week later I went out there to pick up the car and the back right window still was broken. I ended up paying $65 more than the price that Elizabeth guaranteed me I would pay and ultimately they got me back out to the dealership. They also tried to charge me for gas in the loaner car they gave me but I refused to pay that fee since they invited me back out there. So I got in the car and drove it home and when I went to lock the doors the electronic lock didn't work. It's broken and costs $500 to fix. I emailed both Tei and Elizabeth and she responded by not only degrading me and the company I work for, but also telling me that they need to make a profit too. So in summary: My first trip to Pohanka was because they told me they would take care of me. NOT TRUE. In fact it was a disaster. Then they invite me back out there with a great offer and I took it. Then they charge me more, don't even fix the whole problem and again give my car back to me in worse condition. Then they belittle me, did not call or email a survey for my experience and ultimately I am going to have to pay over $1,000 before I can even sell my car. Don't waste your time, money and energy going to Pohanka and if you do only talk with Tei (service rep) he is a genuinely nice man and will at least speak the truth to you. read more

***MOST VALUABLE, BEST QUALITY EXPERIENCE I'VE HAD AS AN ENTREPRENEUR/SALESMAN IN A VERY VERY LONG TIME*** So I've gained a decent amount of sales experience in my day from gym memberships to houses, from pairing the finest wines with the best prime beefs in the fine dining biz, to advising investors and businessmen and women of all kinds. I've also got years of experience under my belt in the automotive, tech, and engineering industries. In other words, I understand effectiveness, quality, and potential when I see it, and by God I've seen it.. Until Thursday evening, never once had I actually "EXPERIENCED" a vessel with such agility, control, and power accompanied with the state-of-the-art lane-keeping assist phenomenon that the TLX V6 provided (not to mention the quick and easy voice-prompted/voice-guided wireless hook-up to my phone, *crystal clear* FULLY RESONANT sound system, GPS, the list goes on and on!)!!! Nothing like it in its class!! Feels like I'm cruising in it just by explaining the 10 minute drive! As for the "sales" experience, it didn't even register to my brain that it was a "sales process" -- WHICH IS HOW IT OUGHTAFRICKIN BE, AM I RIGHT OR AM I RIGHT?? My consultant, Hana Supandi -PHENOMENAL- seemed so effortlessly comfortable in setting the tone of the experience during the test-drive as every benefit and valuable token of greatness that the TLX caters to MY EXACT LIFESTYLE rolled right off Hana's tongue at perfect timing during the entire drive and sales process!! Rarely do I say I've felt like I'm in the hands of a true caring professional; now is one of those times. Solid!!! BTW... I had zero intention of actually purchasing a vehicle until experiencing the pure and refreshing "How can I help?" / "I appreciate you." attitude that Hana exuded immediately upon first contact. Wasn't pushy, just caring, knowledgeable, helpful. When it comes down to the top two influencing factors that made me wanna purchase (process = total breeze too), it was: #1) the TLX's *adaptability* to the physiology and personality (yes, personality) of the driver AND the environment (terrain, traffic, and climate). (I remember telling Hana during my test-drive, "It's like this thing 'breathes the road'!"). #2) the *personability* and professionalism of my sales consultant, Hana Supandi and how she built report instantly, communicated effectively, and created a tremendously valuable experience. I could only give Pohanka 3 stars it was basically the customer service. I texted back and forth with Michael several days before my visit. I live 2 hours away I texted him that morning to ensure the 2 cars I was interested in were still available. I advised him the time I would be arriving at the dealer. Upon arrival he came out and spoke with my husband and I, only to say he was working with someone else and he passed us off to Elizabeth whom in fact was Amazing! We test drove the two cars that I had originally inquired about. Just for her to get yelled and screamed at by another sales person who had just sold the car we test drove. Mindful on the keys it did not say sold! It only had noted ready to go ( that does not mean sold to me) poor Elizabeth. That other sales person need to be spoken with. Her actions were out of line. I totally understand 1st come 1 served! This car was for my daughter, whom had her eyes set on it. Only to be told it was sold after Face Timing her, and sending pictures. So we decided to go with the second car. Elizabeth was super helpful. But the time it took to get back to financing was horrible. Elizabeth was scheduled to leave at 3pm for her Sons Birthday she was gracious to wait until they took us back. She advised us she would pass back off to Michael when we were done. They were pretty busy, need to look at hiring more staff. The gentleman that help in financing was super cool and quick. However he forgot to get us tags. Did make one comment that left a bad taste in my mouth ** We definitely are not begging you for you to buy a car** lucky this was said after I signed the paperwork!!! After finishing up we got the keys from Michael, he did not even make sure the car was full on gas. My husband ask and he said oh it is almost full, put the tags on and that was it. If anyone deserves the commission it is Elizabeth, if she still would have been there she would have made sure the car was full cleaned and ready to go. Michael did not. Sucks she has to split it! I have to say 6 months ago I had a way better Experience with Justin at Sheehy Nissan. Due to us traveling so far he covered the gas expenses in my car out of his own pocket. That is great Customer Service. If you are looking to negotiating this is also not the place to look. As I said before they are not going to beg you to buy from them. For a couple of days I heard strange sound coming from my vehicle and decided to take it in to the Acura service department for a look over. First I called the dealership and was transferred to the service department. I asked if I could make an appointment and the lady answered very nicely that I could come in anytime between 6 am and midnight at my convenience - no appointment necessary. She also advised that the diagnostic fee would be $120. As I was pulling up there were about half a dozen cars in the service terminal coming and going which lead me to believe that I would be waiting a long time before being helped; I was wrong. Within seconds of exiting the vehicle a nice gentleman, Kyle Schmidt, immediately met me and said he would be right with me... and he was. He just went in to grab his tablet. He took my information and documented my issue quickly. He advised that it could take an hour to hour and a half for the vehicle to be ready to be returned, depending on if the tech could mimic the issue I was experiencing. Instead of waiting in the lounge I decided to go home. This all took place within a 5 min window, couldn't believe how quickly the process was! Not 20 min later I received a friendly call from him letting me know that the tech couldn't mimic the issue but they found what could have caused the issue. He offered to have the tech do a test ride with me to see if I could recreate the issue or just to confirm that the problem was resolved. I thought this was a very kind gesture, especially since this isn't the norm for most service departments. When I returned the tech, I believe his name was Anthony, met me with a friendly smile and a firm handshake. We jumped in the car, had a discussion on what I was experiencing, what he believed the issue was, and what he did to correct it. I was no longer hearing the noise I came in for. Afterwards, Kyle Schmidt offered to have my car washed while they were preparing the service documents. I waited about 10 mins in the lounge which offers wifi, a variety of canned sodas, water, and snacks. The best part of all this, when I asked what the service fee would be Kyle stated, "nothing, we are not unreasonable. All we did was an inspection and bent a piece of metal [back in place]". His outstanding customer service, along with his team's, floored me! Because of this, I will be a repeat customer! It's now been 2 days since my service and haven't heard that pesky sound. I recently purchased two brand new Acura MDX SUV at Pohanka Acura. Shahbaz Butt, a salesman at Pohanka, provided great support. Most of my interaction was over email and phone with Shahbaz as we were from Pittsburgh. He and his manager Tony Ramazani were great to work with. There was absolutely no pressure from their end. We planned to buy a certified preowned acura but ended up buying two brand new Acura MDX. The entire credit goes to Tony Ramazani and Shahbaz Butt for providing us a great deal on the car. They are the best and honest people. We reached dealership on a Saturday evening 5PM and they were about to close. However Tony ensured that we are happy with our shopping experience. These folks know how to make a deal!. They did everything to get the best price for me and my wife. I would have never thought of buying two Acura MDX ever in life, but Tony gave me an offer that i could not put down. Shahbaz was very quick in getting the car from inventory and explained all the features. More importantly when we finalized the two cars, it was 10 PM. I went with my family (my wife and two kids of 9 and 6) and we were dealing with finance guy at 10 PM. Shahbaz was kind enough to keep my kids engaged (my kids were bored at dealership as they were there since 5PM ) till 11 PM. We left the dealership on Saturday 11 PM. I kind of felt bad to keep Shahbaz for that long but not a sign of distress from him. Shahbaz was absolutely professional and did his job passionately. My entire family took a picture with him in front of my two cars! My kids still remember him. We could not pick up the car on Saturday as i have asked to fit certain dealer installs. Tony Ramazani ensured that we were given a loaner RDX to drive home (Pittsburgh) and my two cars were delivered at my door in Pittsburgh all the way from Chantilly, VA. This is the best dealership experience i have ever had. Thanks for a pleasant experience guys! Shahbaz Butt provided excellent customer service and Tony Ramazani is a great human and the best manager!. Tony was giving great advice to my kids!. It was like a family feel and emotion at a car dealership! Pohanka Acura is best because of Tony and Shahbaz. Keep it up folks. I think it's only right that I would leave a review after my latest experience with service rep Erkin B. at this dealership. I am no way endorsing this dealership, I just want to recognize outstanding service as they are hard to come by nowadays. I came in for an oil change at approx. 10 am and Erkin approached me at the service bay asking if anyone had helped me yet. I told him no, and so he introduced himself and told me he could help with anything I would need to get done today. I told him I only needed an oil change and asked if it be done within 2 hrs since I have my baby boy with me and his nap time was around 12:30. He told me that shouldn't be a problem, maybe 1:15 max (people with young ones can appreciate that). IMMEDIATELY after taking my info or scanned my car, he checked for any recalls that would need to be done. That was what I was most impressed about - My car is an 03 MDX with 178K miles...it's flashy or new for that matter. I feel like if it isn't new...they wouldn't care. Well, Erkin certainly proved me wrong, there were 3 things that my car needed to be done with the recalls. One important thing I would like to point out and why I rave about Erkin...I was there 4 months ago, for the same thing, an oil change which turned into additional work - including a brand new engine mount (I was told that it was broken) and brake fluid flushed. The whole amount I spent last time was close to $1,000, the last service rep did not even mention or try to find if there were any recalls for me. He provided me with a loaner since the work would take a few hours at the minimum. Closer to 5 ish, he called me and gave me an update and apologized that it still not done yet and he would call me as soon as they are done with it. He called back again closer to 7 pm and told me that it was done and explained why it took so long. The whole time I was waiting for him to sell me or tell me what else was wrong with the car and a simple oil change now might turn into something more. To my pleasant surprise, he didn't add anything....just told me that it is done and I can stop by anytime to pick it up. To sum it up, Erkin's professionalism and outstanding service will certainly bring me back should I need any work done in the future. read more

I initially thought I found an upstanding dealer. When they told me the used BMW had been checked out, I believed it until lights came on and I called them. One light had been on since I had it (4 days) but I thought it was telling me something else since I hadn't had a chance to really read thru the book. When the other lights came on, I called and they took the car back in, gave me a loaner, and fixed the issue. I was happy about that, but wanted to have the car checked out by a mechanic I can really trust. Car checked out fine, which was a relief BUT the mechanic told me it was an 8 cylinder. I was shocked! I understood it to be a V6, and my daughter remembers the sales rep telling me that when we first looked at it. I called the rep and asked him about it, but he says he told me it was a V8. He said he remembers pulling up the gas mileage, and yes I do remember that . . .to compare an AWD vs a regular two wheel drive!!! I'm not an idiot. I wasn't planning on buying a car that day. If I would have been told it was an 8 cylinder, I would have kept walking. My daughter and I were out for an evening walk and I just happened to go by the dealer and decided to look at this particular car. I had a Ford Expedition that was a V8 and when I went down to a Volvo SUV that was a 6 cylinder, I could immediately tell the difference in gas mileage. My budget is nearly maxed with the car pmt as it is . . .I would have kept looking for V6. But then, when he told me the price, then it was $999 more when we went inside to discuss negotiations (I didn't see the car sticker myself, just what he said). Then, that evening as I did some research, I found the car advertised for just about $2000 less than they were telling me. So, while I probably got a good deal, doesn't matter when I didn't get what I thought I was buying. I was so upset to discover this little cylinder information, I felt sick to my stomach. To the dealer, it's one more car off their lot and more profit in someone's pocket. To me, however, it means having to now sell the thing on Craigslist or somewhere, hope I get my money back and THEN look for a car that IS a V6. But not from Pohanka! read more

We bought a new 2022 Acura MDX Advance a year ago from Pohanka in Chantilly. A month or two after we got it, the back brakes started screeching (loudly) every time we brake. We have taken it to Pohanka several times to address it, but there is still no resolution. The first time the service manager said he hadn't heard of this issue with the 2022 MDXs, however when one of the mechanics rode with me in my car, he said he had heard of other people having the same issue with their new MDX. I found it odd that the mechanic knew about it, but the service manager didn't. Several months later, our break indicator came on so we took it back to Pohanka and they said it was an issue with the indicator light only and reset it. We addressed the screeching issue again and even though Pohanka could reproduce it, they said we needed to call Acura (the company) vs addressing it at the dealership level. Acura (the company) told us that it is a known issue that they've looked into (which began at least as early as March 2021 based on a Tech Line Summary article) and have determined that the brakes work as intended, so they wouldn't fix it. If it is normal for the brakes on the brand new car to loudly screech every time you break, it would have been nice to have been told that before we bought it! We've owned several new cars and have never had this issue before. Acura (the company) said if we wanted to pursue it more, we should contact Pohanka. So we are in a no-win situation where neither entity is taking ownership of it. Last week I took my car to our mechanic (who is great) for an oil change. I asked him to ride with me so I could show him the issue. He heard it right away and said we need new brake pads and since the car is one year old, the brakes are under warranty and Pohanka needs to replace them. I would leave zero stars if it were an option. It's bad business practice to sell a new car with an issue and refuse to fix it (especially when the part is under warranty). And really, how much would it cost Pohanka to replace our brake pads in order to do the right thing...my guess is not that much! read more

After reading many reviews today, I was surprised by how many negative reviews this dealership received. I know in any business bad hires can tarnish a reputation, but based on my experience, I needed 105k maintenance to be completed on my vehicle and my experience was 5 stars due to the Service I experienced for being customer service and detail oriented in addition to price conscious on fair market pricing on parts and competitive with other dealerships. My 2003 Acura 3.2TL is at 102k, but decided complete the 105k repair/maintenance earlier since I will be taking this vehicle another 100k. I worked with Kyle Schmidt in the Service Department and he was absolutely fantastic and he is the reason why I will be returning to have my car serviced at this location. First, I agree with other reviews in that the cost is initially high. They currently charge 119.88 for labor and the parts/fluids are marked up anywhere from 70% to 300% based on research I conducted with the assistance of a friend I have in Acura Corporate. That said, they are just trying to make money and I get this process as long as they are willing to work with me on a fair price, so I did the necessary work to get the price down and I purchased some of my own parts for them to install such as my plugs, rotors, and pads. I don't know what to say, they did it and so far it has been great. I can certainly say the customer service I received was absolutely professional and detailed, and Kyle cares about providing excellent service which I know is rare in the Service field and having a few employees of my own--it is invaluable to have this type of talent on your team. As for the labor and work on the car, I don't have any complaints and as far as I am concerned, they did an excellent job. I haven't had time to verify the DOT4 fluid composition and/or air and repairs done, but if I see something that doesn't checkout, I will update the review. Lastly, I just want to say again, thank you Kyle Schmidt for an amazing experience and make sure your Manager knows I will keep coming back as long as you are my Service agent. read more

Let me start out by saying because of Preston Hill and Alex this has been the best car buying experience I've ever had! I previously went to Karen Radley Acura which was so much closer to my house, however, as soon as I walked in I knew they wouldn't get my money. After talking to the salesmen we left and I came home and started looking for other dealerships in the area. Years ago I had my TSX serviced by Pohanka so I was a little familiar with them. Anyway, I put in an inquiry for a 2022 MDX A-Spec. The next morning I received a call from Preston, he followed up our call with an email letting me know they didn't have the exact car I wanted but they could possibly get it. We talked about price a bit, I told him the price Radley had given me and later on his manager Alex gave me a call. Over the phone Alex was very pleasant and said they wanted to earn my business and get me into the car that I wanted for a reasonable price. He invited me to the dealership to test drive and work out a deal. I was reluctant because I know the game and I didn't want to feel pressured. But after talking to both Preston and Alex I didn't get the sleazy car salesmen vibe from either of them so I decided to go to Chantilly. Long story short, I got to the dealership was greeted at the door (unlike at Radley) by someone who then introduced me to Preston. Let me tell you he was the most chill salesmen I've ever met! Anyway, Preston showed me the vehicle in and out and we went on a test drive, came back and struck an awesome deal on a car that was on the lot. The next day I came back to pick up my car and Preston again went above and beyond. He had already set up some settings for me and he even helped me set up my phone and download the AcuraLink app. He went over safety settings and made sure I set my seat settings correctly. He did all of this on his day off! What a guy! The whole team at Pohanka made this experience stress-free and chill. I'll be back in the future.
