I've lived in the area for 14 years and always gone to the Jiffy Lube (949 Auto Repair), down the way. After multiple bad experiences with them (including them not replacing my coolant cap on tightly and it blowing off while I drove down the 5 freeway causing my car to overheat and stranding my kid and myself in the middle of traffic), I showed up at Midas and it's been awesome service ever since. I work 65+ hours a week which makes getting anything done during normal business hours difficult. Midas has been more than accommodating and even made room for me just to have my car worked on. This Midas ROCKS! I never go to chain auto repair / but last week I really had no choice, My car (2006) Chrysler Pt cruiser totally broke down on highway 5 on my way to Monterey from a recent gig in OC - I had it towed to the nearest place off the road. Car was so bad - it had a blown head gasket and all kinds of other issues - it kept overheating and sounded and smelled awful plus: IT WAS A SUNDAY! Just my luck the owner (Sean) and the MASTER MECHANIC Joe were around ! I had Joe (lead mechanic) and Sean check it out. They came up with a plan they took my car in and fixed it all within a week! They are amazing, thorough, professional and cost conscious- they saved my butt and my car runs good as new! Car is fixed - runs great and I've got a mechanic connection in the OC! The Midas team customer service is really over and beyond! It went in for a routine check-up when my light came on. The Management took the time to tell me and show me what I need. First, not any service place I've been to before took the time to really show me what was wrong and provide the options to take care of it. It turned out, I needed a lot done! My brake pad was down to its last life, my tire tread was not good, and a few filters were looking pretty bad! They took the time to not only show me these items on my car, but also provided detailed options if I wanted to fix them immediately. I really appreciate the communication and options. I've been to dealerships where it feels pressured and you have no idea if they are telling the truth or not about what needs to be done. I decided to do them all and they ordered tires for me that were coming in the next day. The following day I came in, they completed everything within a few hours. It was really a seamless process and I appreciate their transparency with me about what was needed. The good news is too, getting tires from them they will do the tire rotation and alignment for free each time I am back for service! ***READ FOR YOUR SAFETY As I was driving down for work in mission viejo from north OC, I noticed a concerning clanking noise so I decided to take my car in for a diagnosis at Midas. I honestly just wanted it checked out to see if it was at least driveable to take it back to my trusted mechanic around my area and they charged me $150 just to look at it, fair, that is the company's policy, whatever. With the diagnosis, of course, follows the shark intent offer. They told me my transfer case had run dry and on LABOR ALONE (Strike 1), I was quoted $2300... Now, I understand how intensive and lengthy car repairs can be and I expect a challenge and what comes along with owning a European car; however, it is a no brainer to get a second opinion when the labor costs more than the actual part being repaired/replaced. I proceeded to let them know I'm going to just have it towed to my mechanic and even after seeing my face from that ridiculous quote (the gall of these people), continued to offer me their "discounted" towing service. Strike 2. Luckily my mechanic had spare time for me to have it looked at that same day and immediately was able to discern the issue. Had nothing to do with my transfer case. My drive shaft was making the noise, was able to PHYSICALLY show me how it was making the noise and he quoted me $650, for my european car, INCLUDING labor. Strike 3. MIDAS PROVIDED THE WRONG DIAGNOSIS AND TRIED TO CON ME 5k INTO MORE REPAIRS. So, along with the inaccurate diagnosis and money hungry approach, had I not be aware of the real issue with my car, I could've drove away causing an accident or further damaging my entire car! 1. For a "corporate" company, you would expect these guys to have extensive knowledge with their training. 2. Two-three guys looked at my car. You would think you wouldn't require the second opinion Bc it would come from one of them. Don't be fooled or pressured when more than one of them try to "confirm" with you!!! 3. I understand being in sales is cut throat from my own occupation/first hand experience and I'm not asking for a humanitarian for help, however, you are the epitome of a straight garbage on paper of con artist to risk people's LIVES just for your own TEMPORARY financial benefit/fix. Shut these people down. Do your research before committing to anything. It is not even about the money anymore. Do it for your safety. read more

Called this Midas because I was concerned with my coolant being low and worried there was some type of leak or what not. Marco told me to bring my car in so he can run test and figure out the problem. I dropped it off same day. When they were finished I was told everything looked good and nothing was wrong with it (thank god). I felt like he was very honest with me and that is why I would 100% bring my car back here. There was a servicing fee but that's obvious since he had to diagnose the problem. Overall had a great experience and will be returning! read more

Well, I left a review before when they worked on my truck, and it was disastrous. But, I had a cracked rim that I had to go in and change and put a new tire on a new rim. Simple mount and balance that usually cost you $20-$25 tops elsewhere! The service writer just asked for my keys never wrote up any paperwork and took my car to get the work done. An hour and a half later he comes back tells me my car's done and says that will be $120. I said you've got to be kidding me! He goes oh no, that's what we charge, without even checking with me first on the price decided to charge me $120. I told him that's outrageous and to put my other tire back on. He then said he would lower it down to $85, and after just wanting to get out of there, I paid the $85. Still no receipt and no paperwork whatsoever. I will be turning them into the bureau of automotive repair, and the Better Business Bureau as I gave them many chances to better themselves, and all they do is try to screw people! This is the second Midas I used in this town that are franchises, and they are both absolutely pathetic !! Beware of these back street mechanics, as they will screw you when it comes time to pay! read more

I can't say enough great things about this shop. A buddy and me were in the midst of a suspension install this last weekend, and at 5:15pm on a Saturday we hit a massive snag adjusting a coilover, which would have put finishing the project on hold until Monday if we didn't find a fix. Midas was the only shop open within 15 miles. I called, and Marco said bring it in and they'll see what they can do. Well, sure enough, 15 minutes before closing I arrived and they went right to work. Within 10 minutes, the coilover was adjusted and I was on my way. These guys went above and beyond! I was told my tires were in bad shape so I immediately booked an appointment for a tire installation and alignment the next day at Midas. I called ahead of time to make sure they had my tires available and that I needed to get this done by today, and Joe reassured me it would be all taken care of. He recommended me change 4 tires instead of 2, and although much pricier than expected, I never once felt tricked or ripped off. I trust them with my car, and will continue to do so. read more

I had an issue with my sons vehicle that was recently worked on in Las Vegas by another Midas and had to take it here in Mission Viejo to be rechecked. Turns out the secondary issue we were having was not caused by the Midas repair but a Dealer repair a few months back. Not only did Midas fix the problem but they did it at no charge. Now that's service. I didn't ask for anything they just offered to get my son back on the road. I can't recommend this place enough. I was having difficulty finding a place to work on my 73 VW Bug, decided I wanted to replace the after market exhaust with the original exhaust (just way too loud for me at my age LOL) so I gave them a call and they had me come down right away. Marco was the Manager and I have to say he was awesome. I understand that it was going to be a process to get all the parts but they were quick an thorough. Marco always keeping abreast of the situation... ended up changing the shocks and struts along with the tires. No pressure at all to do the work, which I appreciate. Also had the Oil changed and they adjusted my idle without even asking because it was idling too high. They looked at my car within 20 minutes, told me what was wrong, the cost to repair, and had it fixed by that afternoon. Went for an oil change a year ago thought the guy was super nice. He then told me I needed rotors and brakes for front and rear. I told him i would come back and get them done. Come to find out I had 3,000 miles left on the front and 5,000 miles left on the back brakes and I did not need rotors. My point being I didnt get new brakes until November of 2020 and had oil change in October of 2019. He was manipulating and out of character. I do not recommend Midas in mission viejo. read more

I have to say this place is LEGIT. I called before I arrived in ask how much and oil change was I loved how Joe the manager gave me regular pricing and sick that it options versus telling me one. Once I arrive ( An no I didn't have an appointment either)they got me in and out quick Joe is accurate on point and very honest , they do a full service inspection and they will be honest with you. They even do a full report on your car which they can see everything AWESOME.
