UPDATE: Returning to update this review after another experience that confirms my original warning. Months after my first visit here, I discovered the technician had overtightened my oil drain plug so severely that two other shops could not remove it without specialized tools. One actually broke their tool trying. I came back to Midas Monrovia to have them fix the damage they caused. The service manager, Justin, verbally agreed the repair would be complimentary since it was their error. I authorized the work on that basis. When it was done, he handed me a $99 invoice and claimed I had "misunderstood". That only removing the plug was free, not the oil change itself. This was never communicated before the work began. When I asked for Midas corporate's phone number, he told me they didn't have it. Classic bait and switch. I've disputed the charge with my bank and filed complaints with Midas corporate, the BBB, and the California Bureau of Automotive Repair. Avoid this shop. read more

I had an unfortunate incident on the fwy on our way home with one of my tires from Palm Springs and had to exit the fwy in an emergency and this Midas shop was right off the fwy, my luck! I was distraught and very stressed out as I was far from home with a child and needed to get home asap. They were so kind and helpful, assisted me with everything, ordered me a new tire asap. I've never been to a Midas store but the gentleman that helped me that day and his team made me a fan of Midas forever and I'm very grateful to them for being kind, patient and so helpful to me and my kid on a very bad day when we really needed help. Amazing staffs here. I came here recently because my car notified me about a coolant level issue. I was worried that my car will over heat so I stopped by after work. The lady who answered my call was kind. She even offered me to come in right away and they will put my car on the rack to check. This really put my heart at ease. When I dropped by, she recognized me right away and asked if I was the one that called about the coolant. She never even seen me before...kool? lol They placed my car on the rack and started checking. Although I didn't stay to get the car fully diagnosed, but I really appreciate the fact that they were kind and really helpful. They were concerned for me and hoping to help figure out the issue. I would definitely stay and let them work on the car if I could. I had the coolant issue before and Mercedes dealership fixed it once. I wanted to go back to them to figure out why the coolant issue popped up again when they should have completely fixed it the first time. They were so great with customer service and care. I took my car in for an overdue oil change and also to top off my coolant which was low and my check engine light was on. They did the oil change for me and ran some diagnostics. At first they said that I could bring my car back in the morning (it was near closing time) and they could give me a ride to work because there were further issues happening with my car. When I told them the work that was done on my car in February, they told me to take it back to them because it's very likely they didn't do a proper job. I was so appreciative of the care and genuineness because they could have very easily kept my business, but instead, they told me to take it back to my original mechanic because if they really did mess up they should fix it for free under warranty which is exactly what is happening now. Not sure if it was just Genevieve at the desk, but I asked and went in multiple times to get the free alignment check done. She claimed they had done it, but could not show me any summary or results from it. Said they only get measurements when actually doing the alignment. She either did not understand what I wanted or just did not want to do it for me. Went to a different Midas for that free alignment check and was actually given a report for it! Besides that, the people actually working on my car were nice and helpful explaining other things going on with it. But overall it was really inconvenient for me to ask so many times and have to check with another location. read more

I made a reservation for an oil change online and confirmed it by phone last week. When I brought my car into the shop, I was notified that they couldn't do it because they were shorthanded due to extenuating circumstances. I understand these things can happen, but they should have called and saved me the trip. I made another reservation for yesterday, again online and by phone. I came in and was told they were again shorthanded and couldn't get to my car. Again, it would have been nice if someone had called me because I had to rearrange plans to come in that afternoon. I let them do work on my car because i trusted them. But ever since i did, it has been running worse. I have very poor oil consumption. The car hesitates at times. There is a missing bolt that holds the valve cover down. When they were originally done, they gave it back to me and the check engine light was on. Before I left, I told them and it took them forever to figure out the issue. I had to leave it overnight. It just feels like they are inexperienced to do work on cars. I felt like i got ripped off for the amount they charged. I wish I can take it all back and go elsewhere. But I know I will never go back to this place. I rather go to a dealer. Rant Hey guys I can't believe I'm writing about this horrible experience! I have been going to midas in Monrovia for years, always had a great experience. I loved the fact that they are fast and affordable. My last oil change they notified me my car needed new brakes and discs. I was pregnant at the time and I knew that i would be leaving for maternity leave soon so I couldn't afford to get them done there. We had a mechanic that would be able to do it for cheaper. So I went that route to save as much as possible for when my baby was here. Today I went in and until it was time to pay. The "new" owner rang me up and asked me who had done my repairs. I answered my mechanic, she responded by saying that she didn't want me coming back because I didn't get the repairs done there that they didn't want to touch my car if by another mechanic had worked on it. Im furious at this point and told her they were just doing an oil change nothing more. She basically said don't come back. Her name is sharon I guess she is the new owner there and now I will be needing a new place to get my oil changed read more

Omg!!! Service here is WAYYYYY better than it was before! Sharron and the guys are the best! Service was amazing, fast, and efficient! I needed to have an oil change and tire rotation (as I was 5% oil ‍) so I caved because no one was available at the time. At first I was very hesitant to come back after a horrible experience with previous owners and staff, but when I called and Sharron said "Come on over, we'll take care of you!" I usually go to Jiffy lube all the time but this time Midas was closer to me and they had coupons for oil change too. They didn't have any opening for appointments but I called in and they were able to squeeze me in last minute. Eric was the person that helped us, he's very friendly and professional. I told him we were here for an oil change but he did a whole check up on the car and let us know what was needed to be done. He didn't give us an emergency time for us to take care of it but literally went step by step on what to take care of and what was good. He was very professional and very nice. Being a woman sometimes when you go to a auto shop it's tough but he was very nice and helped us go through the motion . They did the oil change for us and also reset it on the car so we know when to come back too. Definitely recommend this place. Thanks Eric. Midas has really gone downhill in recent years. Changing hands frequently and mechanics as well. You never know who will be working on your car. Their "lifetime" warranty comes with so many caveats that you may as well go to someone else. It never ends. Mow, went to the site AT OPENING to have brakes looked at because of a rubbing sound. It's happened before so I know it's with the brakes. Get there at 810. Told i have to wait an hour cause the manager will not be in till NINE!! WTH? When I worked retail you ALWAYS had to have a manager present. Hell, anywhere that's the rule. Some will blame Covid for the lack of customer service but it's just straight up bullshit. Horrible. My first mistake was trusting AAA and their diagnostic of my car. When I got to Midas, I told them AAA said it was the Alternator, they quickly realized that wasn't the case. They then thought it was the fuel pump, but after catching them in a couple things that didn't make sense my boyfriend called. they then said it was the floater inside the fuel pump, then it was out of gas and then it was the fuel gauge. Which ended up being the real issue. I get needing to find the reason and diagnose it correctly but they immediately assumed i needed a $600 part. At the end of it all, they put my original fuel pump back in my car, filled up $5 worth of gas and that was it. On the way to pick up my car I realized they did absolutely nothing but diagnose it. Mind you, in the beginning of my stay with Midas they had me sign a paper that said diagnosing the car was going to be free. But when I got there it was $300 for nothing. No new part, no fix on the gauge, nothing. They said it was for diagnosis but why did I sign a paper in the beginning then? Very disappointed. When I asked what exactly I was paying for and why make me sign something saying it will be free when its in fact not, shannon said "go call your boyfriend so he can explain it to you." I would not recommend this place. I was willing to pay $100 for the gas they put and some labor but $300 for nothing is ridiculous. read more

I asked for a tire rotation with my oil change and they said it would be an additional 19.99. on the coupon and the website the tire rotation is included free of charge. 19.99 is way more than a tire rotate in is worth and is a free service at many other businesses. This place don't deserve no stars At all ! when you know that your car was repaired or put new rotors or brakes and the repair or job was done correctly you will never return again and never have issues or concerns Here starting with the Manager to the supposed technician or repair service man they don't know nothing about brakes or rotors they charge me $1179.00 on my Midas credit card that still had a balance pending my car from left brake is grinding as if it don't have pads or rooters when I came here was for only back brakes grinding they mentioned that I needed new rotors and brakes front too when I argued and mention my breaks and rotors are fine they say have to to do both , they suppose put new brakes and rotors, read this again they say factory Toyota rotors and brake parts they put me the cheapest orallys break pads not even the duralast brand I did research they put the low quality break pads , I came back in October then December they say that the rotors have rocks or dust they would clean it lol what a excuses 2nd time they say they would put new brake pads and new rotors again they test drive it the manager did too he said the road's conditions are bumpy or road conditions it's normal for my brake to grind like that I have all receipts and pictures to proof of all this nonsense now the Midas operating manager gets in the phone tells me to take it to another Midas to another location why should I move my car and go through all the troubles when the problem was down in Arcadia, California in The midas in Myrtle Blvd the damaged something in my break pads of rotors because after I took my car home my car every time I stop while driving my brakes had never Break or stop the same since I came here I don't appreciate dishonest behavior I want my money back I'm in the process or the sound to go away read more

DISHONEST SHOP. Awhile ago, my wife brought our car here because there was a sign for oil change for $19.99+tax/disposal fee. The guy at the shop calls us and says that we need brakes on all four wheels. When I told him I will come by to look at the brake pads myself, he said "everything was put back together already". When he said that, it sounded very fishy so I declined the service. When we went to pick up the car, he jacked up the oil change price to $25+ saying that the $19.99+ special was only if we applied for a Midas credit card. When I took the car to another shop, they found that none of my brakes needed replacement. DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR TO THIS SHOP!!!! Why would the shop put the wheels back onto the car BEFORE talking to the owners first about whether or not we wanted to go forward with new brakes??? The truth is...they freaked out when i said "I want to go there now to see the brake pads for myself". They lied about our car needing brakes, and the other shop i went to confirmed it. Making money is their first priority under the disguise of "protecting customers' safety". No discount or apology afterwards could reverse this level of dishonesty. I will continue to discourage my friends, family, and others on Yelp/social media from coming here! PS. Also false advertising on the $19.99 oil change sign because nowhere in the fine print on the sign did it say a credit card application was required!!! read more

New to Monrovia and our brakes had been squeeking. Found a "Free Inspection" coupon online at Midas.com so my wife thought she would give it a try. Sat for an hour for a 5 minute inspection, turned out the mechanic said we had no issue. I appreciate the honesty and happy with the outcome. Then came the checkout... They tried to charge $40 for the inspection, trying to argue the coupon is at the shop's discretion (even though the address is on the coupon) and that there were "shop fees" for the inspection. Not sure what the plan is here. Either you would have got our business on the spot if new brake pads were needed or in the future (by being honest that we didn't need them)...instead you are trying to claw $40 for 5 minutes of work to accomplish what? Penny wise, pound foolish. Be wary of trying to use a coupon from Midas at this location. read more

Went to the Midas the other day in Monrovia right off the 210 freeway and Myrtle. Now I have read reviews and wanted to see for myself. Well I got to meet the technician that worked on my car his name is James. I asked if he was new and he said yes. All I can say is "WOW" this guy was quick on my oil change along with my tire rotation and most of all he was friendly and had a great attitude. I needed an oil change and was a bit skeptical on how Midas would handle the situation. I went online and scheduled an appointment. They had an option to either wait in the lobby or pick up later/drop off. They called back 10 min later to confirm my appointment time. When it was time to go in, the first thing to caught my attention was that the lady at the front desk wasn't wearing a mask. The mechanics weren't wearing masks either. First off, I really hate doing this to this place. The staff was very friendly. However unkept promises are whats bringing me here. To start this place will allow you to provide your own oil if you require an oil they dont carry. So I went here to get the oil changed on my 98 Toyota Camry and it also needed a 4 wheel alignment. They did the work and the steering on the car was not right it was still askew/ sketchy. I took it back to them again and they said they could not deal with it at the moment. I brought it back and they said to make the alignment perfect it needed a new drivers side tie rod because the original had "play" to it. I agreed paid them their fee of $170.00 and some change and they did the tie rod and on the phone they claimed it took them 5 times aligning it to get it perfect. The car still was not right. Then their tech told me that something internal on the rack and pinion was bad and it needed a new rack and pinion. I spoke with their lady manager a woman named Kelly in person who was very understanding and nice she said she would either refund the alignment or she would refund the tie rod. So I picked the tie rod and I'm still chasing after it. No follow through no contact no nothing but broken promises. I filed a dispute with my bank on the charge and they sided with Midas on this even after being promised a refund which was NEVER honored. _____________________________________________________ Side note I took the car to a Good year facility I trust and they evaluated the car and they told me if Midas had actually evaluated the car correctly if they were paying attention they would have noticed on their alignment computer the rack and pinion was bad and they would have noticed the visual leaks on it. But Midas did not do a proper safety evaluation before working on the cars front end. !! Extremely disappointing all the way around even considering I paid Midas money I got no benefit from. Today my husband took it for a 2nd opinion and my tires are fine they were replaced not too long ago. So I'm taking my truck somewhere else to do the job I want. SO DON'TGO HERE! AFTER MANUK/MIKE LEFT - things aren't done right! I went for their special Oil Change + Tire Rotation last week and the tire rotation wasn't done. It's still pulling to the right. I camr yo Midas before when my car broke down before this visit and they were able to help me when the credit payment situation by offering me the west creek financing but this time they no longer work with them anymore as they will be having their own financial company. Very great customer service. Had my oil change done and even though it was quite a wait I know I can trust midas. They did a general inspection of my car and found some parts that need replacing but I will definitely do that the next time I came to Midas. I had wish that midas had notified me regarding the west creek because I was actually hoping to use it as I have some credit i can still use. Instead I was forced to use my emergency credit card. Robert took amazing care of me. My engine was overheating and I thought it was just the valve cover gaskets, but they found that the radiator was cracked. In the process of fixing it a suspension coil that had rusted fell apart (photo attached) and they found the part and got the repair done in time for me to be at an appointment.
