A very serious and unfortunate common issue with some Subies. Their technician Cody saved our car! The repair was invasive and not cheap but cheaper than having to go by a new car with car payments that's for sure. Our Crosstrek is reborn! Drives smooth and even the AC works better than ever. I asked them for a quote on a transmission oil change and the lady stated that she could not give me the price estimate unless I brought my car in for a multi point inspection. Like this place has itself confused with a dealership that I purchase my car from. I refused to bring the car for an inspection as I told her nothing is wrong with the car. She tried to talk me into the inspection. So I asked her if I did the inspection how much the price of an oil change was she became frustrated and hung up the phone. Not very professional. read more

After one whole day of waiting, they tell me all other kinds of car problems and then said they don't fix alignment. They provided excellent service for my 2014 Subaru Impreza. I originally came for an air conditioning (AC) repair, but after the thorough inspection (costed $150) as a first time client there was a lot of work identified from high to low urgency. I ended up electing to address the AC repair (which required two levels of electrical diagnosis thus resulting in a AC control panel and O-ring replacement to repair the leaks), battery replacement and light bulb replacements at the front headlights and rear license plate. While the total cost of around $2700 (parts labor and tax included) seem high, it was still less than the dealership + the value I received in terms of knowledge, honesty, and transparency made it worthwhile. There was a possibility AC repair could've required a compressor replacement which would've been an additional $1600 roughly but super glad they didn't upsell me and push me to do that job immediately. When the AC control replacement was finished they did a thorough check and confirmed that the compressor didn't need replacing. They also were able to partially reduce the price of the level 2 AC diagnosis where there may have been overlapping work with the level 1 diagnosis. Their thorough inspections, transparent communication, and attention to detail stood out. They provide detailed description on the work in real-time, along with videos and photos for your reference. Kudos to Sergio, Seiko, and the rest of the team for their efforts! I will definitely be back in the future. I needed an oil change + tire wheel/rotation, and Sergio was there to guide me through from beginning to end. Being a first time patron, they conducted a thorough inspection of my vehicle, a 2012 Toyota Camry. Unsurprisingly, I knew that there would be a couple parts that needed to be changed due to wear and tear. After the car had been inspected, their online system showed photo documentation along with a description of the issue and its priority level. There is complete transparency with the cost of labor and parts for each individual repair. You are able to choose what work that you would like done and visually see what the problem looks like. This is unlike any other auto shop/dealership I have been to, where you simply rely on the word of an associate to fix an issue. During a phone call to notify me of the possible repairs, Sergio went through any and every detail that I had a question on. He truly goes above and beyond for all patrons. The solutions are offered at Seiko's and you can choose what work you would like done on any timeline. There is no one trying to persuade you to do anything. You have full control on what you would like done to your vehicle. When I returned to my vehicle, it was better than before and the windows had even been cleaned to my surprise! The car now drives smoother than ever and feels like a brand new car. For this level of service and superb work, there is a premium to be had in comparison to other auto shops. However, I don't think that you could find a finer auto shop anywhere around East LA. This is a review of their amazing service. My girlfriend's Subaru is one of the outliers that actually had serious problems. Needs a new engine, hoses, just a whole mess of problems. Sergio and David were amazing at being transparent and told us everything they found and showed us pictures of everything and, yeah... it's a bloodbath under the hood. It was so bad that we were told it would be better to consider "other options" instead of fixing it. They didn't have to tell us this. This is a business, but what they got from us was trust. Had our Subaru fixed here a few months ago and I just realized I haven't written a review for Seiko's! They were very sanitary for the COVID situation, with masks, gloves, & hand sanitizer. The process was all done through their tablet with no contact payment. The work they did was great, but what really stood out to me was their service. They emailed photos, video, and comments on the work they were doing to our car! It was like we were there watching the process and had no reason to wonder if they weren't actually doing what we asked them to do. I find honesty in automotive technicians to be a HUGE plus, and they went above and beyond to show that they were trustworthy. 10/16/21: Thoroughly explained recommended services with "before" pictures (i.e., used brake fluid and transmission fluid colors), and provided detailed "after" pictures (showing exactly what work was done) via phone call and text message with a link, so that I could review and approve the charges from home. Also explained what was checked and not recommended for repair at this time. Clean and safe loaner car. Constant updates on the car repair's progress throughout the day. Car was ready when promised. Highly recommended and I will definitely return here again. Update 10/12/23: I'd give ten stars if I could. I had replaced a dead battery and thought the alternator was fine after AAA told me it was; two days later a battery icon popped up on my dash, and Seiko's was able to fit me into their extremely busy schedule on ten minutes' notice, diagnose my issue, and confirm that my charging system wasn't working due to the alternator. If it wasn't for their willingness to help me on a packed day, I would've driven this car with my kids and potentially stalled on the freeway at night with no system or battery power. Instead I parked it safely, got it properly repaired the next day, and avoided something a lot worse than a car repair. Thank you guys!!! read more

Very organized and friendly! I found out about this car shop from my boyfriend who had a Subaru STI. He use to go to a shop that specialized in Subaru but the quality of customer service went down. Right next door was Seiko and this was actually the right place to take his STI. Just by being with my boyfriend whenever he would pick up his car, I already feel a positive environment at Seiko's. So since my warranty for servicing was done at the dealership, I decided to take my 2016 Subaru Forester here. Booking for the appointment was easy. You can either call or use their website. I used their website and it automatically lets you know the available dates and times. It's impressive of how management of the appointments, receipts, details of the servicing is electronic. Very Eco-Friendly, of course he can still print out paper if a person wishes. seiko went over what they will do and approximate the time frame to when the inspection is done. If you are tech savvy, you will see an email sent regarding what is recommended and you can mark off "yes go ahead " with what needs to be done. he will also give you a call to clarify things if needed. oh and that sjsu also shows prices so that you can make a decision before going through anything. I don't know how many times i called seiko's but they answered all my questions with respect and professionalism since i don't know too much about car maintenance. I highly recommend their car shop. When I recently bought a Prius and needed some work done I was referred to Seiko by a friend who has been a loyal customer for years and raved about Seiko's work. Well he was 100% right! Freaking fantastic service. 100% recommend this place. I found them on yelp and needed a place up near Arcadia that specializes in Toyota's. Seiko went out of his way on a busy Friday morning to do a pre-Purchase inspection on a Toyota 4Runner that I was interested in buying. They thoroughly went through the vehicle and explained how they found out certain service was never done. Long story shot, the truck needed $4,000 of repairs for neglected work. So I passed!! But Seiko was super friendly and the entire shop was super clean. It's been a lot time since I've seen a shop this clean! $175 to keep me from $4,000 (or maybe $5,000) of work. That was worth it! Inspection took 1 1/2 hours plus 30 minutes going through what they found/needed to be done/replaced. Seiko pulled me aside at the end and even gave me recommendations on what to look for on another vehicle. He told me honestly to pass. MAN, he won me over! He actually had my best interest at heart! I was suggested to this establishment by my brother in law. My prior mechanic is in Redondo Beach and is looking for a closer mechanic. Seiko is very nice and found out that he is very thorough. Did a full checkup in my ES 330, and I had a Brake job done and an oil change. I was told about the moisture content in the brake fluid and I went (huh???). I went ahead and had him do the brake job and the brake fluid service. I felt a huge difference on the brake function after the service. I'm very pleased. I think I found a good place now. **JAPANESE-SPEAKING (Bilingual in English & Japanese)** Seiko specializes in Japanese vehicles. Especially the inner workings of Toyota and Lexus; and their hybrids. I moved to California in February and was in desperate need for a good mechanic as well as a new car. I originally fell upon DTM Auto Salon in Pasadena. Dan, the owner, specifies in BMWs and European vehicles but referred me to "a young, super JDM mechanic who does excellent work and specializes in Japanese vehicles." (If you have Euro needs, please check out Dan @ DTM Auto Salon - super nice guy and really clean work). He gave me Seiko's card and sent me on my way. Since then, I have brought Seiko a 2006 Honda S2000, a 1990 Nissan 240SX and my boyfriend's 2014 Scion FR-S. Though the S2K and the FR-S only undergo minor maintenance, the 240 was a wreck (I think that may even be an understatement. lol). Seiko is patient & thorough. He went over all of the things that were wrong with my vehicle, and helped me to prioritize what we should attack first (in order of importance, and cost effectiveness). In the short time I have known him, Seiko has fixed the following on my 240: 1. Electrical issue with all of my lights (brake lights, headlights, reverse lights, turn signals, etc.) since the previous owner had tinkered with it and caused all of them to turn on simultaneously or not work at all; 2. Suspension; 3. Transmission Noise Issues; 4. Power Steering; and 5. Motor Swap (camshaft split on my original motor because previous owner tried to rebuild it and failed miserably). Seiko saved me from being carless and catching the bus. We are currently working on my exhaust (previous owner welded one on that is RIDICULOUSLY loud); and we are also looking for parts so that I can fix my air conditioning. Keep in mind, my vehicle is 25 years old and some parts are becoming hard to come by. lol. Eventually, I would like to fix a lot of other little things here and there (I apologize in advance to Seiko for bothering him). Seiko does an amazing job from start to finish. I appreciate that he takes the time to walk you through the process and answer any questions along the way. His shop is clean and he is very professional. His paperwork is always in check in case you need to reference it later. I would definitely recommend Seiko's Auto Service to anyone. Even if your car is running with no mechanical difficulties, it is good to perform routine maintenance and Seiko would be more than happy to do those as well. If it weren't for Seiko, I would be less two vehicles (crashed the first one, bought a lemon as the second) and catching the bus. I am eternally grateful for his hard-work and attention to detail.
