I came into Midas with a coupon for some normal maintenance items and I must say that Daniel was insanely accommodating. They offered to take me home and pick me up if needed when the service was finished. One would think that they'd have the car all day since i wasn't in the shop staring at them but NOPE they finished exactly when he said they would and picked me up. I usually take my car to the dealer but Daniel & this Midas has earned every bit of my business. I will be back for all my repairs & maintenance needs. They showed me my breaks & tires to support their recommendation to replace (which I did). I did NOT feel ripped off or taken advantage of at all, quite the opposite. I've come here a few times. Each time the service kept getting worse. The first time I went in for an oil change and it went okay. They drove me home but forgot to call me when the car was done. I gave them the benefit of the doubt. The second time they made me wait a long time even when I was the first one there when they opened. This is when I started having more doubts. The next time I went was to fix my engine. (It was leaking oil). It took them over half-an-hour to acknowledge I was in the store. Ultimately, they fixed my car in a few hours but forgot to call me again. They stated they were busy. I can understand that, but it is still their responsibility to call their customers. I lost a lot of business myself that day because I was expecting them to keep their word and call me back. It only takes a few minutes to call someone. He didn't seem to care, very nonchalant and uncaring. He dismissed me and walked away. I was made to feel like I was not a part of the "Midas family". Based on the other reviews it looks to me that the favor some customers over others. That's too bad. I had high hopes to continue coming here for service. I will not be returning. read more

Despite all of the original negative comments, I felt that the service was excellent. The workers were quick and efficient in their service for my vehicle. They only recommended essential parts and were willing to fix things, unlike dealerships that just replace the part and charge me triple the price. This Midas charges great prices, and cannot be compared to any other auto shop. Also, Vince is a handsome man that I trust with my life, and he's exceptionally awesome. Took my Mercedes S550 here after being told it would cost over $600 to have a check engine light code repaired at another independent repair shop. When I arrived at Midas, Sako plugged his computer into the car to see what was wrong. After a few minutes, he told me the oil is a little low, and it should be fine after adding some oil. Sure enough - after adding oil the light went off, and two weeks later everything is perfect. Thank you Sako for saving me $600. I had a flat tyre on the 210 freeway and found the Midas right off the exit on Myrtle. I have a new RAV-4 and rather than try to sell me a compatible tyre they may have in stock, they called several suppliers to find an exact match. In the end they couldn't find the exact tyre so they recommended I try the dealership. They even put the spare tyre on for me and refused to accept payment! Horrible!! Always trying to take people for granted. Went in for routine brakes since I paid over $800 a couple years back for lifetime warranty on brakes and paid for new rotors all around. I just had to pay labor of $110. When they inspected my car they said I had a scratch on one of my rotors and it had to be replaced again for $94 before they add new brakes. So we agreed. When came to pay it was over $300. I had to pay for labor $110 to install front brakes and $110 for then to install back brakes plus rotor and tax. Everyone that came in for simple brakes besides me ALL had something wrong with their car. Even though I paid for lifetime of brakes this is the last time we are coming here. I won't recommend this place to ANYONE!! read more

I was in desperate need of a new battery. I was literally driving around with a portable battery charger for 2 days in my car that's how bad I needed a new battery. Went to Pep Boys since it's closer to my house and they basically turned me away because there was a 3 hour wait (they didn't even look busy and they were just sitting around) and told me to go to the pep boys in El Monte. That was not going to happen, so I drove up a few blocks to Midas. I am so glad I did!! I was helped right away and I was in and out in less than 20 minutes. Yikes, this place is really sucky! I recently drove past this place a Few Weeks Ago and Saw a sigh for Oil change and Tire Rotation for 20.00. I am going out of Town and want to be sure everything is right with my car before I make that 400 mile Trip. I walk inside and the gal at the Counter has the Personalty of a Dead Flash Light Battery. I ask her about the Sale and She tells me that I need a Coupon. Okay, well where Do i get a Coupon at? I don't know she said. So, I dropped my car off, and set foot the local Library to get this darn coupon otherwise its going to be 40.00 for the service.Before I left I wanted to talk to the person that was going to Rotate my tires because I have 3 new ones, the 4th one is a long story. trying to Coax this Guy to take a look at mt car was like trying to pull teeth from a Cat.... Finally I get him over here, and he say's Fine I'll rotate the 2. He and the Gal at the Counter told me it would be about an hour. I then went to the Library get that God Forsaken Coupon and Go to some Local stores in town to kill time. 2.5 hours later I return and the car is still no done, not Done not even started on. I tell this Guy that this is Unacceptable and That I have gave you over 2 hours to do a simple oil and tire Rotation. all he said was "ma'ma we are doing our best!!! my thought,don't tell me its going to be an hour whens indeed its going to be nearly 3. thank god for the out of date Vogue Magazines. let just say I will never go back. read more

I'll make this one quick. I would be a little cautious with this place. I first step in to find the guy in the office playing with his cell phone and playing games. Takes him a good 5 minutes to acknowledge me. I went in for a minor exhaust resonator modification that I knew should only cost about $40-50. Takes them a good half hour to check the car and explain to me how the piping was angled so it would cost a whopping $95!!! I knew my stuff to know that they didn't know squat about what they were talking about. DOUBLE THE PRICE THAT I WAS HEARING AND THAT I EVENTUALLY GOT AT A DIFFERENT MUFFLER SHOP!!!! I felt so sorry for the lady there who had come in for $100 brake job that turned out to be over $400. After wasting my time, I left and went to Advance Muffler and Catalytic Converter Service in Pasadena and got the job done for $50. BEWARE! read more

My truck was in an accident and insurance paid for an alignment. I normally take my trucks to a different mechanic in town. The body shop that took care of the body work stated to take it to these guys. I had no issue since I trust my body shop. When I arrived, the salesman noticed that I own a plumbing company in town and asked why would I pass his shop to take my trucks to my mechanic. He kept going on that he can take care of all of my trucks even on Sunday. I told him that when my mechanic does me wrong (which I doubt he ever will), I would give them a try since this was their chance to shine and get a new fleet of trucks. So I left my truck there at 8:30 am. I received a call at 4:30 that the truck was ready. So I called one of my plumbers to go get it. No more than 30 second went by when they called back and stated "We will not release the truck until payment has been made. I told him that this work was covered by an insurance claim and he should take it up with the auto body guy. He told me, "Negative, you call who you need to call to take care of the bill. Once the bill has been taken care of, then they would release the truck. Mind you, I did not set up the appointment, nor did I request for them to do the job. I had to call my auto body guy to drive over there to pay the bill. They would not call the person that set up the appointment. They held my truck until then. When my plumber arrived, they told him, "the truck still moves to the left because of the wear of the tires. You need to buy new tires". When I got my truck and drove home, my steering wheel was not straight. I had to drive it 45 degrees to the left in order for my tires to drive straight. When I let go of the steering wheel, it shifted big time to right. This was worst than before they touched it. When I returned, I asked to speak with the owner. The same guy that wanted my business stated that he was the manager and that he can help me. I asked "Is this the best product that you can provide ?" He stated, "Absolutely! You need new tires. See the thread on your back tires?" Mind you we were inside the office and the truck was about 50 feet away. "They are worn to the left" I said "Dam you can see that far" I told him that the pulling to the left was not my complain, my complain was the crooked steering wheel. He responded, "you need new tires, period!" Cool! Since this is your best product that you can give me, do not expect any of my plumbing trucks to show up here or any of my friends cars to show up here. I get alignments and tires every year. This is by far the biggest bull crap that I have ever heard from a mechanic. If your car does not work or it breaks near the 210 fwy and myrtle. Do not go here. They may know how to change oil, but not alignments. Unless you need new tires, Ask for Daniel. Hopefully he knows more about tires than alignments. read more

I used to go to the Midas in Glendora for my oil changes and loved it, but I recently moved to Monrovia, so I figured I'd use their 19.99 coupon and try them out. When they finish the oil change, they tell me I need new brakes, brake shoes, shocks and struts asap. And I should fix all this for $1,200! I think not! I go to our long-time trusted mechanic in Arcadia, and have him check my brakes. He says I have 80% left on the front and at least 50% left on the back, that I have plenty of life left in the brakes and he doesn't know what they were talking about, everything is fine. Beware of the results from their oil change and 14-point check. Have it checked out by someone you trust. I recommend R.A. Hillman in Arcadia on Wheeler. Honest as they come. read more

We brought our Isuzu NPR truck to Midas for a Brake & Light inspection and Smog test. We were told the 2 tests would take 2 hours, more or less. When we asked how much would they charge, we were quoted $400. That's $200 per hour for labor!!! Their prices for labor were not posted as I believe they are obliged to be by law. Long story short, we left there and found a very reputable mechanic who did both for $200. Midas is a RIP-off. Don't use them. read more
