Yesterday I called to get a quote on tire installation. Since I had been there before my information was in their computer. I was quoted $100 to install tires on my corvette that I already owned. Any service center knows that they are low profile run flats. I called back a second time to verify the price and make an appointment. Once again making sure they knew what I had. Today when I arrived they said $174 was the price and oh, by the way you car is making a belt squeelibg noise. Trying to upsell me and not honor their price. After some discussion about honoring their price. I left. Less than a mile away I got the work done for $80. Midas won't see me again. I'm still recovering from my last "repair" and feel cheated even more from their price gouging Today (Thursday). I got my (non) apology from Midas. According to the manager it was still all my fault that they gave me an incorrect quote. He asked what could they do to make it right. I replied that an apology and admitting they had made a mistake would do it. That did NOT happen. All he could say was he was sorry I felt that way Now it is some time since my original review. I have found I'm banned for life from Midas. I spent thousands there before this review, but I'm now being considered a nickel and dimer for expecting them to honor a quote. I had my car in for A/C Service. 1st charge was $768.23 and car was expected to be fixed. Drove away and soon found out is was not fixed. Returned for another bill of $554.89, of which I had to finance $300.00 to replace another part, still not fixed, then I was told I needed a condenser for nearly another $300.00. I replaced the condenser and then returned for refrigerant after paying over $255.86 for that. After 4th visit A/C doesn't work! Places like Midas and Jiffy Lube have reputations for ripping customers off. They advertise and quote you prices over the phone that they don't honor. When you get there they want to upsell you and get you to buy a bunch of other stuff. This place is a classic example. The "out the door price" they quoted me over the phone didn't include additional services they wanted me to get. They said if I didn't get the other services I didn't qualify for the deal they promised, the "out the door price". No thanks. But he said he was going to give me a special price on an alignment! If you like wheeling and dealing, these guys might be for you. == Follow up== The manager contacted me after I posted this review. He seemed nice. He was apologetic. The other thing that happened was another review of the place popped up!!! As a female, the top profession that scams us the most would probably be mechanics. Case in point, I took my 2012 RAV 4 for a simple oil change to the Toyota dealership (in Venice) about 6 months ago and walked out with a repair list/estimate of $4,500. That is more than the vehicle is worth! Everything from a wheel bearing to new brakes (and an extensive list in between). I left in tears because I couldn't afford it and chose to just ignore the list. I handle expensive issues with denial and pray my way down the road. Well, it was time for another oil change (I don't drive but 5k every 6 months) and I saw that the Midas on Clark had good reviews. I walked in, was warmly greeted by Brian, and he explained the charges and what it included with the oil change. I left on foot and walked about a mile to do a little shopping. I received a phone call about an hour later from the mechanic that did the inspection and he said, "Other than an oil change, you just need a couple of filters. Everything else looks good" (brakes, shocks, fluids, etc). I walked back, paid my bill, and left absolutely relieved. I feel pretty good about trusting these guys and you should too! read more

We have had other experiences with mechanics in the past that were not so, and we appreciate the candid honesty we receive about our cars. The first experience with great, so I took it back for an oil change. Unfortunately not a positive one like the last one. Two stars because customer service was still good. Ted's very nice. After the oil change I received a 4 page report with all the work that needs to be done to my car. The big stuff was I needed a whole new power steering pump, new tires, new brakes, pads, and rotors, etc. I went to get a second look and the power steering pump had a leak in a hose so only the hose needed to be replaced not the whole thing. I ended up getting everything done at 1/3 of the price they quoted me. They quoted me over $3000. Either they are not honest and it's a sales thing, or their mechanics are not as experienced. I think it's safe to purchase tires through them, but unfortunately I will use them to fix my car. read more

Made a 7:30AM appointment 4 days in advance. Arrived on time and sat in their waiting area for 30 minutes with no activity on my vehicle. I then had the audacity to ask when they might start on it. The front counter guy took an immediate attitude with me and said, "SIR, we tell all of our customers that an oil change can take between 1-1 1/2 hours and I don't even have an oil tech on property yet." While I completely understand how long an oil change takes, I didn't expect to wait that long for them to start the process. I will NEVER return to this business. read more

I have been to a number of car repair shops over the years and they all charge more then they should..but this place is really unbelievable I am going contact the attorney general and file a complaint I had my car tow in because it would turn over but not start . They try to sell me a battery but I had a brand new battery on the car. They fixed a airflow sensor and charged me 200 more the. I could have got it for. Got my car home the next day right back to doing the same thing I brought it in for. So they misdiagnosed the problem. They come got it after having the car for four days they told me it was a timing belt and gave me. Price of $859 no discount or refund for their mistake and I called the next day now the price is a thousand dollars almost because their going to replace the water pump I have a brand new water pump on the car not even a month old they claim the water pump comes with the belt that's funny I looked up the belt at advance auto and it's only $70. We recently moved to the Sarasota area so I just did a search for a place to get brakes on our SUV. I called Midas at 8:30, got an appointment for 11:30. I showed up and they got my car right in, did a test drive and then a visual diagnosis. It did require new rotors and pads all the way around but they were able to continue immediately. I walked up the street, got some lunch, walked back, talked to the guys and they finished exactly in the 2-hr time frame they had predicted. Everything was delivered just as promised. read more

The staff was professional. I was not happy to see that I needed to sign a statement charging me $30 for the brake inspection when the website says it is free. Feels like a bait and switch. MIdas needs to inform their workers about their promotions and workers need to read their company website so they do not mislead the public. Only 1 Star because I cant give negative stars. On November 16th, 2019, I had my 2007 Dodge Durango repaired by Midas of Sarasota who knowingly replaced a sway bar end link with an incorrect part that was not designed to fit my vehicle. The factory sway bar is designed with a rounded lower portion to be able to clear the lower shock bolt on the front suspension at full lock. The component they installed was very clearly very squared off and was clearly not intended for my specific drive-train and not the correct part. By installing this faulty part, it caused the sway bar end link to grind and scrape against my lower shock bolt, which led to damage to the bolt andeventually could have led to larger issues. This information was provided to me by my Sunset Dodge service advisor after I had them preform an inspection as I was about to transfer ownership of the vehicle to my stepdad. I became aware of the clunking noise of the incorrect sway bar end link shortly after taking delivery of the vehicle but thought nothing of it and drew it up to the fact the vehicle is 13-14 yrs old. Once I discovered this information I spoke to Shaun at Midas and requested a 300-dollar refund so that Sunset Dodge could replace and install the correct sway bar end link. Shaun claimed that the repair was done "out of good faith" and that "there was nothing I can do even if I wanted too" and became very agitated and hostile as the conversation drew on. Despite the fact I was charged 778 dollars for labor for the single sway bar end link, and for lower control arms that were installed but did not need to be, claiming they were a warranty item but I needed to be charged for labor. I had suspension work done previously by them and agreed and had thought those were the parts they replaced. However, they were not actually the parts that were replaced and should not have been a warranty item and did not need to be replaced, let alone charged for labor for. I then took the vehicle to Sunset dodge to get the sway bar end links replaced with the correct ones as I still needed to transfer the vehicle ownership to my stepdad and wanted to make sure the vehicle was in safe, operable condition. Once I received delivery of the vehicle from Sunset Dodge, My service advisor informed me that when Midas had completed the alignment after installing only the one sway bar link, which is especially strange considering both were worn and needed to be replaced, that Midas had neglected to torque the upper control arm bolts, and that they were in fact, only hand tight, which could have led to a catastrophic suspension failure and subsequent collision with the potential for great bodily injury. Additionally, on my stepdads Dodge Ram, they attempted to fix a coolant leak with zip ties as we found out shortly afterward. Complete scam, they should be ashamed of themselves for trying to run a fraudulent business and scam customers out of their hard earned money. Additionally, when i completed a charge back on my card, they went through their own banks merchant services and flat out lied claiming they attempted to contact me, which they never did. I recently purchased a set of tires from Midas. They talked me into buying the road hazard warranty. At a cost of $80. They explained that if I had a flat they could be fixed they would fix it for free. If the tire couldn't be fixed they would replace the tire. No warranty information was ever given to me. I got a flat shortly thereafter. They said the tire was not repairable and I would have to pay $122 to have my tire replaced. They told me I should've read my warranty. Which they never gave me! They said they had one in the store that I should've asked for one. Not happy about paying for a warranty that I thought I had! Buyer beware! read more
