I thought that having an appointment would make things go faster but apparently not the case here. In my previous experience of getting oil changes at jiffy lube they are usually half hour at most. I've gone here twice for a simple oil change and every time I make an appointment days in advance. It doesn't matter if you make an appointment, expect to wait 2 or more hours for them even to get your car on the lift, let alone actually change your oil. The first time I went I waited almost 4 hours for them to finish my car, I complained and they gave me the oil change for free, so I was satisfied. The second and third time I went I wait over 2 hours, complained, and they just said "Well, we are busy and short handed. Sorry." Well, you need to HIRE someone then, Walmart back in TN was faster, cheaper, and at least you could walk around the store. I'm not impressed by Midas of Seaside, and the rest of their services are overpriced. Major thumbs down... read more

Came for an oil change and to have all of my lights checked, they told me at pick up that all of the lights are working perfectly fine. However, when I checked my car, the brake light was still out. They were so adamant about their little check list being accurate and I kept telling them the check light icon in my car was still on. Nobody wanted to come out and check the car again, so I just paid for the oil change and I am def not coming back there for any other service again. read more

I recently had my alternator and battery installed (I bought them from a different place) and the manager Robert was absolutely more than helpful! We got there with my alternator belt hanging off and the pulley loose because I was given a faulty alternator to begin with (not Midas's fault). Robert got on the phone with the company I purchased it from and was able to have them pay for a new alternator AND the installation!!! He was accommadating with timing as well since I had my child with me. The staff was so friendly and they were able to install the new alternator in a matter of minutes as soon as it got to the shop. I definately recommend coming here with any problems or questions! read more

Don't waste your time unless you truly have no other choice. We are heading out of town and wanted to do out oil change before leaving and this was the only place that worked with our schedule. They were not clear about the timing of the service plus the massive wait time, so we had to come back the next day. They get 2 stars rather than one because the employees were polite and they do offer a shuttle service for people who can't sit around waiting for their service to be complete. It was nice to have a full inspection of the vehicle with the oil change, sure. But the giant list of MUST FIX NOW things was absurd. Must replace tires, must get new struts, must fix leaking transmission, etc. etc. Thankfully we were able to take the car into our dealership and see what was really going on if anything, and get an honest report. There are some things that will eventually need to be taken care of but nothing anywhere near as urgent as what they claimed. They also forgot to bolt down a cover under the hood, and when they say they check fluids, that's all they do; check them. They don't even fill the washer fluid which is a little silly to me. Hoping they fix the bolt issue tonight as promised. Will update this evening! *UPDATE: Missing bolts weren't due to them, but they also didn't bother saying they were missing so we knew to replace them. The owner called husband and asked about our issues and for some idea of what he felt they could do better from a training standpoint and customer service, etc. While the overblown diagnosis of ASAP needs was frustrating, we appreciate the level of service from the management. Added a 3rd star because of the positive follow up. read more

This store, like many retail establishments, contacts customers after the sale to ask about their experience. This contact led to the owner calling me to discuss my concerns. In short, he acknowledged my concerns, accepted responsibility for his staff not providing a positive customer experience. I do not plan to return to this facility or give them any opportunity to make it up to me with free services. So I asked for this; I challenged the owner to provide better service going forward that results in a higher Yelp rating. So there it is Charley. The challenge is on the table for you and your staff. If I could give this place 0 stars I would. I went in for a simple oil change on my '04 beetle and they tried to charge me almost $100 claiming they needed to "use European synthetic oil". I've been diligent with my oil changes for the last 10 years and usually had my father (who has 30+ years experience with automobiles) change it for me. I have NEVER had to use European synthetic oil. The entire transaction seemed sketchy, the two employees could hardly agree on what oil to use. This place is extremely unprofessional and clearly trying to overcharge their customers. Stay away. read more

Thanks to Midas for discovering the cross contamination between my radiator and my transmission. I had it covered under warranty at Nissan and I am so grateful to the Midas technicians for finding the problem before my warranty expired. We had our car towed to Midas after it broke down in Carmel on Memorial Day. We chose them largely because they were the only place open on the holiday, and I'm glad we did. The car arrived quite late in the day, but they were able to squeeze it in and did their best to make some headway before closing up shop. Unfortunately, there just wasn't enough time, so they finished the job the next day. The AAA mechanic who'd come to check on the car after it died told us we probably needed a new fuel pump, so that's the assumption we were working with when Midas took the car. Turns out that diagnosis was incorrect. It would have been easy in this situation for Midas to go ahead with replacing the fuel pump and then tell us that it didn't work and move on to other options, but they didn't. They immediately told us they didn't think the fuel pump was the issue, and suggested several other options including a bad alternator. At the end of the day, the issue wound up being an idle air control valve. Once they replaced that and cleaned out the fuel injectors, the car ran better than it has in at least a year. Kudos to Midas for giving us fast service on a holiday, and for not taking advantage of our situation to upsell us on unneeded repairs. Special kudos for Vincent Berry and Kelvin Johnson, who were our primary points of contact and who did a great job staying in touch and keeping us informed. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. Bought a new car and brought it in for an oil change and left with a check engine light on and a bill for $700 worth of repairs. They also said they rotated my tires and now I'm missing lug nuts on my tires and they refuse to replace them. I KNOW I wasn't missing any because I JUST bought the car and nothing was missing. This place is a scam and I seriously regret going there. How do you go in for a simple oil change and come back out with a $700 bill and a check engine light on??? Took it to Auto Zone to see what was up and they told me like 3 different things wrong with it! I just bought the car and nothing was wrong with it and after taking it to Midas I know have things wrong with my car. I am very upset that I now have repairs to make on a car that had ZERO repairs to make before taking it there. Please don't get scammed into this place. This place is great for oil changes and having a 2 hour vehicle inspections (free!) Just don't take their word for any major work they want to sell you after the inspection. Take the inspection form to a mom and pop shop for accurate and cheaper service. I found that 50% of what Midas writes is exagerated or service is not needed. read more

Do not go here to service your car. I have a brand new 2017 Mitsubishi Mirage with less than 20,000 miles on it. I have only taken my car here for oil changes and have not had any other mechanic look at it. My car engine started shaking vigorously and the 'Service Engine' and 'Oil' lights both came on within a week after my last oil change from Midas. I checked the oil and it appeared to have too much oil in it but I was uncertain since my engine was sputtering. I took it back to Midas in Seaside for maintenance and repair to see if they made a mistake with the type of oil they used. They had no definite answer for me in regards to what went wrong. I checked my past reports and my first two oil changes they used 3.2 quarts of 5/20 synthetic oil. This past oil change they used 4.2 and when I brought it to their attention, they disregarded what the report said and acted if nothing was wrong. When I went home, I checked the oil again, and the oil was at the correct level this time-this means they had to have drained it to the correct amount when I was not present! Also, it says on my hood to use 0/20 synthetic oil only. And they are supposed to be the experts, geez! Whoever is the owner should be more on top of the honesty of the mechanics there. read more

He assured me that that is not the norm here and he worked to correct the issue immediately. He even offered me a full refund! It's clear that they do care about customer satisfaction and I appreciate that. I would also like to add that I DID have a good experience here, except for one mistake made by the technician. And the owner took action to make sure it never happens again. I'm satisfied with that. read more

Worst communication skills of a group of males Ive ever experienced. Got an oil change a month ago and made an appnt today to get the things done that they recommend during my oil change (brake inspection, air filter, cabin filter, some lightbulbs were out). At the time they suggested these things I got a quote on what each of them would cost. I show up at 10am when im scheduled to and they are like "ok, what are you getting done today?". Im like, it should all be there in your records and the quote they gave me a month ago should be there to. They say "it just says brake inspection and some other stuff". So we go over everything and I ask how much each thing will cost and somehow almost everything is 2-3 times the previous quote. So I decide I don't need to pay somehow to do some if the things I can do myself and I narrow it down to brake inspection and air filter and I add battery test to ensure my battery life is strong. Its now 1015 am and they say 60-90 min. An hour later and my car is parked in the parking, so I assume its ready. Oh no, turns out they havent even started working on it. WTF!??? They apologize and say its next in line. Seriously! I had an appnt, i was on time, i cancelled half the stuff you were supposed to do because you were trying to rip me off, and ive now been here an hour and a half and my car is not even close to being ready. read more

I took my car here for a simple oil change just for them to tell me I need to get my radiator fixed. My car had never over heated and it was perfect fine. I open my hood a few times before to check my oil and there was no problem with my car. I made sure the brake fluid and coolant was good before bringing my car to the shop. When I got the car back from Midas, my hood started to come out a lot of smoke and it started to leak a lot. I'm 100% these mechanics messed with my car to make me come back and change my radiator. I do no recommend this crap place to anyone. I will complain to corporate about this issue. read more

He explained the checks that needed to be performed, in order to diagnose, and determine what repairs to be done. He told me he would call to inform me of what repairs had to be done, and approximately how much. Kevin then arranged for a ride to my residence, with no wait. He called me about an hour later, and informed me what repairs needed to be done, and how long to perform them, and said the vehicle would be ready by closing, all he needed was my go ahead. They gave me a free brake inspection due to some concerns I had, had me come out in the bay to show me a few things and quoted me for everything along the way. I made an appointment online and they even took my car in early. They were very professional and centered on customer service. I'll be stopping back before I leave Monterey to get brake service. We were from out of town on vacation and our air ride suspension went out on our navigator. It was impossible to drive home with out our rear suspension. Stressed about what to do on a Saturday we found Midas. The manager Robert was AMAZING. He was very friendly, along with his staff, and came off as honest. He had his staff look at our truck a few hours later and within an hour he tracked down the 2 problems. A faulty pump and a relay. He had the pump in stock and tried to get us home with just that part to save us time and $$. The relay part was a dealer special order and wouldn't be able to get it in for a couple days. He told me I could find the part and his staff would install it for free. I was actually able to find one 50 miles away someone had special ordered and never picked up. We had a rental car and picked the part up. They installed it within 30 minutes and had us on our way. Nobody ever wants to get stranded on vacation! The only reason we ever went to Midas was because you could book an appt for the next day. With our golf we went in for an oil change and they slapped us with $500 worth of suggested repairs (when we had already had taken it in somewhere else and it was fine). I also heard from other people that they did the same thing to them. This story is the one that got me. We now have a new car. I found a nail in the front left tire before going out of town so we decided to just replace both of the front tires all together because they were the oldest tires on the car. Come to find out, after driving 3 hours to Sacramento, they didn't even replace the tires I asked to change. So I drove with a nail in my tire the whole way. Now here is where it gets worse (in my opinion). I drove back after getting my tire repaired, went into Midas and told them that they changed the wrong tire, and the guy at the front desk had the audacity to tell me "no, those tires are brand new, we didn't change the wrong tires." UMMMM I'm pretty sure when we made the appointment it was specifically for an alignment and to get the two FRONT tires changed because of the nail, which I mentioned like 3 times when I dropped it off. He made me go get proof that the tires they took off were new and when I did he was saying the tread was worn and they had to be replaced. Which is totally fine, I understand they may have needed to be replaced, but they weren't the tires I asked to be replaced. No matter how many times I said that they did NOT do what I asked them to do, he was pushing back saying the same thing. Honestly, I just do not think that is how you should treat customers. I trusted them with my car and to make sure it was safe to drive and they failed. Owner was nice and did reimburse us for the tires and let us keep them, but he should probably check in on them more and make sure they are treating customers with respect. I've seen the same guy I talked to at the front desk do the same thing to a poor man who was having a hard time communicating because he had a thick accent. All in all I will never go back to that specific Midas. I will probably mention it to corporate because it was very ridiculous. I know that the customers aren't always right, but in this case I was and had everything to show for it, yet they still tried telling me I was wrong. Maybe it was because I was a woman and they didn't think I knew what I was talking about? That's what it seemed like. Yeah I'll play the sexist card, I don't care. read more
