I came here for oil change on a usual busy Sunday. The guy who work there is very nice. I was told my battery need to be changed too, he showed me the printed out result. For a new Interstate Battery with 5 year warrantee. It's $150 plus $25 labor. I knew I can go get a battery somewhere else cheaper but since I'm already there, why not? I did oil change plus battery change for total of $214. I thought that was a rip off. 5 days later .... My car died .... I meant die totally can't jump or move my car anywhere. I got a really good friend who come look at. He told me the problem was starter motor. I called Midas and I was told to bring my car back so they can look at free of charge. But how ? It's dead! Anyway, my friend helped me change out the starter motor. My car work awesome now. 1 star for hot chocolate, hot coffee, and clean restroom 1 star for the friendly stuffs 1 star for diagnosis my car with the battery problem and fix it. Too bad that was not the actual problem. Good try though. At least I got a new battery. read more

I had an excellent experience at this Midas today. I had come here for the first time, this past August 2014 to have new brakes installed (I had never before been to any Midas before last August). I was told by a new employee/representative at a different company that will remain unnamed, that my brake fluid was at 3% and that it would be dangerous for me to continue to drive my car unless I had my brake lines flushed of fluid and then had the fluid replaced for $89.00. I have had my oil changed by the same company for the past 30 years and expected to be able to trust their services. When I went back to have the service completed, I was told that they did not have the correct tool to do the job because my emergency brake was activated by a pedal instead of a button. ???? The explanation of a missing tool sounded ridiculous because many cars have an emergency brake activated via pedal. So, I took my car to Midas where the brakes had been installed for the recommended procedure and low and behold: The rep at Midas, Vincent, gave me a strange but respectful look when I mentioned the 3%, but also informed that that without reference meant nothing. Vincent also informed me that there was ABSOLUTELY NOTHING wrong with my brake fluid and that it looked like it was brand new. He also did not charge me for having checked. I need a new place to get my oil changed and I will be back at this Midas for the services they provide. GREAT JOB FOLKS! read more

This place is a total ripoff. I took my vehicle in to have them check for a grinding noise from the front end. They said it needed new brakes, so that work was done. Guess what? The noise was still there. After charging for another diagnosis, they decided it needed new wheel bearings. That took care of the noise, but apparently the brakes were replaced needlessly and expensively. Avoid this place, unless you enjoy paying for needless repairs. read more

I brought my car there for simple alignment, once I entered the lobby young lady backed my car out the spot and floored my car back towards the garage hitting at least 40mph in a parking lot, when I confronted her about it she claimed she was testing my car, I have a snapshot and it lowered my score for rapid acceleration, very unprofessional, run by children. You bring your car there for service yet they do things that could break it even more. read more

Went in to fix the rattling sound and potential oil leak that my car had and left with a $2000 bill, and the oil leak was not fixed. The bill included being charged $800 to replace the front brakes and $800 to replace the rear brakes. After doing my own research including reaching out to several mechanics and looking at the average prices for parts and services I found that I was overcharged roughly $300 for each brake. I could understand the filters and the dye for my oil to find the leak. Though the dye cost $16 and the labor cost $160 which was and is ridiculous, but to charge $500 at least for parts alone when I could find the parts for under $200 was totally ridiculous. I am a 22 year old female who was not asked once about my own car. I brought it in, and the man took my keys to get the vin, mileage and plate number without asking me despite the fact that I had that information ready because its my car. They were nice people who definitely got away with charging me close to double what I should have been charged. I'm sure a man could have wonderful and properly charged service but if you are a woman looking to get her car fixed stay away from here. read more

You get overcharged for sloppy work. Midas likes to take advantage of the seniors because they know nothing about cars. Especially the older women. I am 25 and I know about cars and I know that I will never ever take my car to Midas ever again. One of the mechanics dropped one of my drums and started to laugh and said o sorry. They said my brakes were bad but I know that is a total lie. I took my car to MPC to get the brakes checked and they said my brakes were fine. Midas just wants your money. I moved to Monterey only 5 months ago and was concerned that I wouldn't find a mechanic as good as the one I had in southern California. This is true. The Midas in Seaside/Monterey isn't AS GOOD as my previous guys but rather, BETTER in every way. Between my partner and I, we've each taken our cars in for oil changes and I, for a problem with my rear tire. (3 separate visits) We've always called in advance for an appointment and, each time we found Midas to be prompt. While choosing to wait our car each time, they DO offer a free courtesy shuttle any where you want to go in the area. Price wise they are competitive to the competition. But of course should you need brakes or a muffler, you can't beat Midas. One of many things we find outstanding about this particular Midas is the courtesy they show to their customers. Just yesterday I sat in the waiting room and observed 3 mechanics converse with their customers. One would think they'd taken a course in hospitality. Seriously, they are that nice. And they don't double talk you. They are experts at being patient while I and others try to explain what we think is wrong with our cars! In turn, they will explain carefully and in a non complicated way what they will do about it. There is one guy in particular I'd like to mention. I've dealt with him each time I've brought my car in and have always walked away impressed. Not only is he organised but incredibly nice! His name is Kelvin. So, these are my thoughts. If I didn't feel so confident and positive about this place, I'd not feel compelled to write a review. Give em' a shot. I think you will be pleased. But make an appointment. read more

I'm traveling the CA coast with my bestfriend and came to some car troubles, Jim did everything he could to get my car in good shape and in a timely manner so we could get back on the road! HORRIBLE, DO NOT TAKE YOUR VEHICLE HERE. Took my brand new car for its first oil change cause i didn't have the time to do it myself. I got it back and now its missing one bolt that goes to my skid plate and another bolt is completely stripped out. once i got the plate off there was a oil leak witch i found was from the lose drain plug.... my wife had work done on her car witch was a break job and a battery inspection and cleaning. Its been one week and her car will not start. come to find out its from a bad battery. I'm now terrified that her wheels are going to fall off from a lose lug nuts or something goes wrong with her breaks. save yourself the headache and DO NOT take your vehicle here. HORRIBLE read more

Bait and switch. Got a coupon for an oil change for $39.95. Once there they said they would only do "European Synthetic oil" on my car or they "could be liable". my car is a 1998 jaguar and the OEM does not recommend synthetic...to make a long story short $125 for the oil change! read more

I am new to the area and chose Midas because it was a name I knew. Jim was very nice and helped me along the way. He set up a ride for me to work but only needed to be picked up. Marjorie was the best driver, she was early picking me up. We had a nice conversation about what she has done in the past and what she is doing now working with Midas. This is probably the worst place you can take your car. I went in to have my brakes fixed and was told it would be done in a couple of hours only I ended up leaving my car there over night since they didn't get to my car by closing time. I agreed and picked up my car the next day but sadly the breaks they put in my car only lasted 6 months. TERRIBLE SERVICE! I will NEVER go to another Midas again. BEWARE! I've been going there for the last 3 years with both of my cars. They do a great job, very on the ball, well trained. I like that the store is cooperate owned, it re-assures me that they are never going to recommend fixing something that doesn't really need fixing. If you need a good honest mechanic that can fix most anything right the first time, without killing you on the price--they are good. read more

Solid service and they even gave me a ride to my workplace (after hours). Everyone was friendly and I even got a follow-up call to make sure that I had a sold experience. The only reason I stopped in besides the fact that I reallly really really needed an oil change badly is because I picked up my mail that day and saw a great deal. $27 included the oil change, rotating tires and a few good important linspections. They couldn't find my tire key so they didn't rotate my tires but they did offer a rain check which was nice. The tire key was in fact in my glovebox but so are a couple hundred other little things. read more

On a recent Sunday, my daughter's Ford Escape would not start. We were visiting Monterey from Oregon and planned to return to Oregon the next morning. I called AAA and had the car taken to Midas. Would have probably used the Ford dealer but it was closed on Sunday. Arrived with the car at Midas around noon. Met and spoke with Jim Carothers. Explained the problem. Told him I have used Midas for brakes, airconditioning, alihnments, etc. but never for electrical problems. I was abit concerned. He said he had a very good technician and hoped he coud get to the car that afternoon. I agreed to a $29.95 diagnostic fee. Two hours later Jim called to tell me the car was successfully repaired. Technician Jose had run the diagnostic and discovered a bolt missing from the electric cable to the starter. I considered the $29.95 and the excellent service a real value. Excellent service! Took my car in for an oil change. When I picked it up they pointed out a bubble forming in my tire. They ordered a new tire and set me up with an appointment to have it put on. When I brought my car back they found that the bubble had gone away. They did not replace the tire. Saving me money when they could have just replaced it anyway. I've been to this Midas several times before and have been satisfied with their service. Eddie was always great, but I just found out he no longer works there. Today, I am disappointed with them! What's the use of having an "Early Bird Drop Box" when no one is checking it?! I got there yesterday morning a little after 7:30, spoke to Jim who told me that they won't be able to service my car because they are all booked up. But, if I bring my car tomorrow at 7:30am, or do the early bird drop off much later after I get off work, someone will check it in the morning and give me a call. And that tomorrow will be better because they'll be able to look at my car. Well, at 12:40pm, I still haven't heard from anyone so I called to follow up and Armando answered the phone. I asked for Jim and he said Jim wasn't in today. I rehearsed the situation to him, but he said didn't know anything about it, and that no one has checked the drop box. He sounded like it was all jokes and funny, but I was not laughing. This was unacceptable. Frustrated, I asked him if this means I wasted my time last night for nothing, and that now it doesn't look like if my car will be looked at today. I took the time to plan ahead because I was also told yesterday that my car service might take several hours or the whole day. My VSC light is always on, and engine is losing power and the whole car is shaking when driving. Armando told me he'll go open the box, finally, and see what's going on. These guys are AWESOME! Took in my daughter's car to repair/replace the windshield wiper motor. The estimate was over $300. However when I went to pick it up they did not charge me ANYTHING! They said the bolt that holds it in was loose so they tightened it and it works! Ask yourself when you've experienced integrity and customer satisfaction? I'm a Midas customer for life! read more

I went to Midas and my car's problem was incorrectly diagnosed. So I became upset and wrote a poor review on Yelp. Since then I have discussed the issue with the Owner directly. He went out of his way to fix the situation which has made me reconsider my review. Any automotive business which has the owner's picture and personal phone number posted at the counter is a rare occurrence. Especially one who's owner actually WANTS you to call if there is a problem with the service. That level of integrity is rare and certainly has changed my opinion of this location. read more

Took two hours for an oil change and to look at my brakes. Took six hours to get my car back after they were supposed to replace the rotors that they said were un-resurfacable, and then they just ended up resurfacing them anyways (a 45 minute job). Told me it would be an hour's job. And then said two hours. And then said five hours. And then after six hours, I finally got ahold of them, and their "courtesy shuttle" driver was still 35 minutes away, even though I was told that I'd have a ride right away. Unhappy with their communication, unhappy with their timing, and they did nothing to help make up for the fact that they turned an hour job into a six hour job, essentially ruining my Saturday. I've been going to this Midas for over 10 years, but as of my most recent visit in 5/2016, I feel that I paid way too much for my repair job (close to 1k). I'm mechanically savvy, and the part they replaced plus labor made me think the repair job was overkill ($$$). The customer in line before me also stated that her estimate was too high and walked out, I should have followed suit. Manchester, NH Midas! Let me tell you about my Midas experience! I took my car to Midas on 12/18 to get my exhaust fixed, switch for the headlights, and to have the oil sensor replaced. When I picked up my car that afternoon my check engine light was now on and where the steering wheel adjuster belonged there was hole and my steering wheel is sitting in my lap! Not one person told me that the adjuster had broken, I found all this out on my own when I went to leave. I walk back in and after almost 20 minutes I'm told the steering wheel adjuster broke while they were fixing the headlight switch and I need to call on Friday 12/20 so I can talk to Jeremiah to get it fixed, had to wait until Friday because he had Thursday off. I call on the 20th and the guy I spoke with acted like he didn't know what was going on then tells me he will order the part and it will be there in 3-5 days. I get a call Friday 12/27 that the part is in and I can drop my car off should take a couple of hours. I drop my car off on 12/28 at 11am and I finally get a call at 5:25pm that my car is ready. I am unable to get there by closing at 6pm so they tell me they will put the keys under the floormat so I can pick it up later. I take a Uber to get my car and to my surprise my car is in worse shape! My steering wheel now is adjustable but it is hard to turn and it's making an awful clicking noise! I'm driving home and all of a sudden there is a light show under my seat, yup light show. Under my seat is one of the mechanics tools with a light on it. Apparently when I was driving it turned the light on, it scared the crap out of me. The worst part of the tool still being under my seat is it has a screw attached to it that belongs in my steering wheel that matches the other 2 screws I found on my floor board! Paid almost $1,000 and now I have to find another place to try and get my car fixed correctly. The staff was friendly for the most part and I wouldn't be writing this post if they communicated with me about my car verses me having to find the issues on my own and my car was fixed correctly the 2nd time I was there. read more
