I showed up W/ a 19.99 oil change coupon and they wanted to charge me $70.00 for a small 4 cyl Civic!? This is a red carpet rip off joke. Oil is oil, go someplace else that REALLY Honors coupons. They don't have 3.5 stars for no reason. Would never recommend taking a vehicle here. They might be educated enough to work on a bicycle but that's about it. One repair will turn into another and they will blame it on "wear and Tare" also your vehicle might lock up causing you to lose control a mile down the road due to incompetent mechanics that probably don't even have a GED. Had a pretty bad experience with this Midas. We lost electrical power within the car (05 Mustang) but were able to get it to a close Advance Auto. After running a test there, we determined it was either an alternator issue or connecting issues as we had a relatively new battery. After getting the car a couple more blocks to Midas, they checked it out and got back to us, stating they believed the problem was caused by the starter and flywheel-- easily discounting the Advance Auto computer test as "they have a $20,000 machine that runs these tests-- not a $20 machine like Advance Auto." All that said, they couldn't know for sure what the problem was until they removed the starter to look inside. Just doing this would run us about $330. I suppose it would have been then that they would have ruled out the starter/flywheel and moved onto the alternator, which would have been an additional $300+ to replace... When picking up the car to take it to another shop, one of the mechanics pulled it out of the garage and into a tight spot and ("accidentally...") turned it off. We were left to wedge our other car in close, attach jumper cables and jump the battery once again. This was all while Midas employees went about their business as if they didn't see the major disruption we were causing in their parking lot. We got the car to the other mechanic, where they diagnosed the problem alternator, replaced it, and got it back to us in about 24 hours. We were fortunate to leave Midas only paying $35 for the testing. I'm extremely disappointed-- I've been here before for an oil change and received decent service. That said, we will never be back-- dishonest and careless work. read more

During rush hour traffic yesterday all our engine and battery lights when on and the power steering failed. By the time the vehicle cooled off we were able to limp it in to Midas. Scott and his team were able to quickly diagnose the problem and ordered to part for delivery. Even though they had been working since 7:00 am they oferred us a ride home. This morning the car was ready to go. Parts and labor costs were explained last night and were reasonable. Scott and his team were extremely professional caring and friendly. I can without hesitation recommend this Midas. Will definitely return for regular maintenance! read more

BEWARE FRAUD. I went here to get my breaks checked, automatically without checking my vehicle I was informed it was the rotors. I left my car because I was advised they would not do anything to the vehicle unless I authorized it. I contacted my lender and was advised they have an in house auto repair shop. I then contacted Midas and was informed they still haven't worked on vehicle. I advised them to not work on my car as I was picking it back up. I arrived 5 mins later and my car was lifted and they were rushing to remove the tires. I asked for car to be lowered-angerly at this point. Multiple employees at this location were verbally abusive and threatening. I contacted the St. Pete Police Department who arrived at the scene and advised recourses; which I will be executing. This shop was extremely accommodating! One of me tires had leak and went flat. Called at 5:30 pm and they got me in right away!! They were able to repair my tire and didn't try to get me to buy a new one. I was there for only 20 minutes. All the guys worked together to get me checked in and out very quickly. When I came time to pay they informed me that there would be no charge!! Extremely happy with their customer service! I'm not the type to write reviews but this place deserved one!!! read more

Do not go to this place. They misdiagnosed the problem and then lied to get out of repairing it properly.

The Midas Store located at 5844 4th St N in St.Petersburg, FL. is not only the epitome but sets a new high bar for the expression "A Den Of Thieves". If you value your family's or your own safety you must absolutely at all cost avoid taking your car to the these thieving buffoons. I took a Mercedes to them and supplied a special synthetic oil and a premium Mann oil filer that's not otherwise available from them. They said they would change the oil and filter for a $20 labor only fee which also included a tire rotation and safety check. Before dropping the car off I had marked the outside of the oil filter canister which contains the filter element so I could determine if it had been removed. After picking the car up and returning home I check the mark and it was in the same location as before so I removed the canister cap and viewed a dirty Fram filter element even though I had supplied them with a new Mann oil filter. I then checked the oil which was dirty and overfilled by at least 2 quarts. I believe this happened because I had returned early to pick up the car and noticed the containers of oil I had provided were still on the bench, so the mechanic in order to cover up his dishonesty proceeded to pour two of them into the crankcase even though in actuality he had never drained the old oil. I then started examining each item they had checked on their safety list form that is provide to the customer along with the receipt, only a few of the checked categories were correct most likely out of luck because after all even a broken clock is correct twice a day. The tire pressures indicated on the form weren't even close to being correct they rotated only two of the tires and then torqued the lug nuts to over 150 ft lbs, almost twice of the spec, one of my headlamps had just burned out but they had all lights checked as good, washer fluid had just run out but that was marked as full. They did however happen to notice a leaking valve cover gasket which they gave me an estimate for $850 to replace even though it requires only a $20 gasket and about 3 hours to repair. I returned the next day and the manager was polite and timidly offered to correct the problem like a child that was just caught with his hand in the cookie jar. Since I no longer trusted anyone there I stood outside the bay and proceeded to video record the procedure which the mechanic took exception to and protested. At that time other customers were starting to take notice so they decided to ask me to leave which was probably the smartest thing they did. They refunded my $20 and provided me with the same type of oil and filter that I originally had provided to them which they said came from the local auto parts store. R2 read more

I have never written a negative review before. This place inspired me!! Very rude front counter guy!! I bought 2, 40,000 mile rated tires at this location 11 months and 15,000 miles ago. These tires are shot. If you need auto repair or tires, you could do better anywhere else but Midas. I feel bad for the tech's there. Came here to get oil changed. The manager said my wheels need balancing and alignment too, so I let him take care of them. Well, he gave me my car 3 times claiming it's all done: first time the steering wheel was off center, second time my car was showing a bunch of errors, and third time the steering wheel was off center again. It was 5 pm, so the manager told me to come back tomorrow. He did not even apologize and was very angry when I asked for a refund. Horrible place. read more

We took our cars here a few times and I would advise everyone to not go here. I do not trust these people at all. Always overcharged and tried to get over on us. Midas in Crestwood mechanic name Troy is dishonest, and malicous. He can't do as simple oil change without destroying your engine. If you don't fall for their extra auto services sales pitch, they will damage your car. You will not get your car back in the condition it was in when you gave it to them for a cheap oil change and tire rotation. read more

They should be paying you to bring your car here! I came in a few weeks back for a sound coming from the front of my car. As I was waiting another man came in talked with a man behind the counter and sat down. Ten minutes later this little man came bolting through the door stopped almost in front of me and stated call all these people and cancel these F***ing appointments to the guy behind the counter. As I look over in horror and amazement at the other customer looking at me I get this wafting smell through the air of BAD B.O. coming from this man almost standing in front of me. Now I don't want anyone saying well after a day of working.... This is early morning and he smelled like 2 day old butt! After an hour it seemed and me going outside to clear my head I finally get shown my vehicle and the estimate of $800 I had to ask who was the upset man who came in? Our "store manager" was his reply. I politely declined the work paid their $30 fee to check my brakes and left. I did get the brakes done at the dealer for $675 with taxes with no stink. read more

Worst experience we ever have had at a automotive repair facility. Waited an hour and a half for a simple oil change. My husband and I set an appointment by phone the day before and we waited a half hour before our car was even pulled on for service. The most disturbing aspect of your visit was the behavior we witnessed while seat in the waiting area. There seemed to be a high level of confusion and miscommunication between the service team. There was yelling and complaining between this women, who I later found out was the owner and her employees. The arguments carried on into the waiting area several times, where my husband and I sat very afraid that the aggression would escalate into something worse. Needless to say we will never bring our car back to this or any other Midas as we believe this negative culture starts at the top. read more

I had just been told that my tire was unpatchable and that it would be 250.00 to replace, mind you this is a brand new Toyota with 300 miles and my first flat tire in 20 years. I left the dealership and called Midas, not only did the manager make me laugh, give me solid information over the phone but he found the leak and patched it for 30.00!
