We moved here last January. It's always hard finding a mechanic you can trust that is reasonably priced. When I got my oil changed here, they did an inspection and said that everything, including air and cabin filters looked good. I had just changed them, and often use that as a test for honesty. They were. When my wife had her oil changed, they noted that the left front strut was going bad, which I knew to be true. They could have said, "You need new struts" (meaning 4), but they didn't. They told my wife, "Only the front left one is bad, but you really want to replace them in pairs" - which is true. I don't know if all Midas shops are this good, but the one on Roosevelt Ave in Wheaton is. read more

For many years I have taken my two cars to this Midas for oil and filter changes, and tire rotation. The service has always been very good. The last two times though I was told that a tire rotation is only performed when needed. I use a coupon which is mailed to me or is available online. Nowhere is there a stipulation that tire rotations are only performed if needed. I rotate the tires to prevent uneven wear, not to stop it when uneven wear already appears. It is disappointing that Midas has chosen to not fulfill the offer of the coupon. Either remove the offer of a rotation, or clearly state it is only performed if need. read more

You ever leave a car care place and you're happy with what you paid? I always am at this Midas, they always explain everything to you, never upsell ya and give you excellent service. Had tires put on my son's car (kicks) wonderful! I had a question about my power steering, I called Dave, he didn't tell me just bring it in, he asked me questions, he explained what might be going on. All and all it seemed to be a glitch, which Dave said was probably the cause. Just had new tires put on my equinox. Dave suggested some "COOPERS" they are fantastic! This Midas store in Wheaton is exceptional. Dave is the manager. Trevor schedules appointments. Today I needed a brake light replaced. I was in a hurry. Dave has technicians. Today he jumped in and changed the bulb and I was out in 5-10 minutes. Their quality on big jobs is great. Their price is very competitive. Midas will finance at 6 mos interest free. I have 3 cars in our family and this store will do all the service on them. read more

UPDATE TO ORIGINAL REVIEW: After being contacted by the store owner, he apologized for the miscommunication and for his staff being unable to locate records. He personally inspected my vehicle with me and noted that the original inspection report was incorrect. Only one of the two CV axels and shafts needed to be replaced. He offer to replace the damaged one at no cost and I accepted. I no longer feel that his staff was trying to deceive me but that there were multiple errors made that he acknowledged. My trust in their honesty has been restored. -------------------- I have been taking my family vehicles to this location for at least 20 years. I have been impressed with their honesty. However, I may never do so again. Recently, I was told I needed to replace both front CV axles and shafts on my vehicle. When I mentioned that one CV axel was recently replaced by them and should last 80,000 miles, I was told that they did not have a record of installing that part. I provided Midas with their invoice number and part number and asked if the part they installed had a warranty. I was told that they did not have any record of who manufactured the part or where where it came from. I then asked them to double check their records and get back to me. Weeks later, no reply. I took my vehicle to two other mechanics for an inspection and asked specifically to check the CV axels. Both mechanics said that neither part needed to be replaced and one looked brand new. I feel like I caught Midas in a lie. How could they lose a repair record? How could they not have any information on a major part they put in my vehicle? Why would they claim that an expensive part that should last up to 80,000 miles needs to be replaced after only approx. 8,000 miles? Why would other mechanics tell me that the parts Midas wants to replace don't need to be replaced? Why will they not get back to me after I've asked them to research the part they installed? I've been going here for years, spent thousand$ of dollars. I got all new brakes almost 2 years ago. Had to have them adjusted once for squeaking, they've always squeaked in reverse. After an inspection Midas told me I need all new brakes already, and they're not under warranty. The guy on the phone said sometimes they get defective parts. I got an inspection somewhere else and they said that Midas used poor quality parts and I need front rotors and pads. After all of my customer loyalty I will not go back to Midas after being treated like that UPDATE: The owner/manager reached out once I posted this review and filled out a Midas customer survey. After realizing what low mileage I had put on these failed brakes, and after reviewing all of my customer history at this shop, they decided to replace all four brakes for no cost to me. J Rose at Midas performed the vehicle inspection I scheduled online. He was thorough and efficient, but most of all - helpful! There was a loose metal part center front of undercarriage splash guard that he was able to secure with a zip tie. There was no charge for the service! In summary, decent for oil change if you are able to go home after dropping it off (it will take a while), but do not trust any other work they say needs to be done. Went here for an oil change, and while the price was pretty good, about $30, the service reflects the price. When I dropped off my car they told it would take 30-45 minutes, but it wasn't finished for about 2.5 hours. Luckily I went home instead of waiting for them to finish there. And they also make you schedule an appointment ahead of time, so I do not accept any excuse about them being busy. If you knew you were going to be busy, don't let me set an appointment for that time or day. They also do this courtesy inspection on your car, but I am highly suspicious of everything they told me I needed to replace. They said my front breaks/rotors needed to be changed "soon" with no real context or explanation. And they said my engine mount needed to be replaced because it was loose and the engine was vibrating. They gave me a quote of about $650 for everything. I took it to a local mechanic to get a second opinion, and they told me neither of those things were true. They said my model of car historically has a shaky engine while idling and changing the mount would do literally nothing. They also said my front break pads were still well padded and the rotor just had a bit of rust from sitting during covid that would likely be cleared off as I drove. And if anything the rear breaks, not the front, would need to be changed in 6 months at the earliest. So either the mechanics here were lying to me or didn't know what they were doing. Not exactly inspiring confidence whichever one it was. The only reason they are getting 3 stars instead of 2 is because while they did try to get me to pay for work that was not needed, they did not try to pressure me by claiming my car unsafe to drive or something. I told them no, and they gave me a quote and then didn't mention it again while I paid and picked up my car. read more

The general manager Jerry is disrespectful and a scammer not a true man of his word narcissistic character I trusted them and that they would fix my car charged me a bunch of money for a misdiagnosis refuses to refund me my money for changing parts that had nothing to do with the main problem after changing the parts that he promised where the problem the problem with my car persisted I took it back many times after taking it back many times the man said it was my thermostat I changed that my self the problem still exists I told him that it's still having the problem he didn't seem to care I took it to another mechanic which I paid for another diagnostic they advised me that it was indeed another part because the ran the correct tests and advised me that the parts that where changed they could have clearly seen that it wasn't the problem and that I should contact Midas to get a full refund for a misdiagnosis I called Jerry and addressed him with the problem and had proof that they changed the wrong parts the man was very rude and disrespectful I had asked for a partial refund he told me to F off I told him I will take it to small court claims he then told me I've been in business for 30 years kid I said I just want a refund or something to be done because I have the same problem going on with the car and no solution plus out of 1,500 dollars I will be taking this to small court claims along with the bbb not a man of his word and a lazy mechanic and a scammer I would highly advise not going to someone who will lie right to your face with a big smile and takes your money and tells you to F off. read more

I came in on a Thursday to schedule repairs. Ended up making appointment for following Friday, 8 days later. I explained that my 18 year old car, a Chrysler 300 needed suspension looked at. probably needs springs, struts, as it makes noise when I sit down and when I turn the wheel. I also told them I wanted both heat shields fastened down, that they need new fasteners and large washers. Also wanted to look at rear brakes for future appointment, as when I stop the back end wobbles. Got it there by 8:45 on scheduled Friday. The lady wanted to charge me $110 for inspection of suspension and brakes. I told her I would not pay for brake inspection, and to just do front suspension and heat shield. She then did not know what to do and said they could not do the work because I would not pay for inspection. I said, 'forget the brakes. Do the suspension please. She created a new quote. I said, 'thanks'. I then re-explained about the heat shields. When I called at 12:45, they had not yet looked at it. Then, at 1:15 got a call from the mechanic who said it needs springs as it made noise when he sat down, but they did not have the springs in stock. This pissed me off, as I made appointment 8 days before, and springs were requested by me. He said springs could be in by Monday. I explained that I took a vacation day and had no vehicle the entire day. The reason I made an appointment was I wanted the work done in that time. They ended up charging $775 for upper and lower tie rods on both sides and front end alignment. Holy smokes, that seems excessive. Also, they did not re-install the heat shields, that they were wider than the fastener, (which is why I said to use larger washers, ~D-uh! ) and recommended removal. Another holy smokes. WTH is wrong with these people? I paid, but they did not fix the rattling and squeaking. They want to charge nearly $800 for springs. But as they did not have in stock when I told them it needed when I made the appointment, and they did not repair the rattling heat shield, which is a simple fix with new bolts and large washers. I won't go back to this shoddy scam Midas in Roosevelt Park, Michigan. Very unhappy with them. read more

I've gone back here a few times over the course of the last 18 months and will keep going back. Today was the second time that we have used this location in Midas for an oil change and it took over an hour and a half to get this oil change done. The car was in the bay and oil was drained within 20 minutes of arriving and then every employee working was in the garage for the next hour not working on any cars, just sitting and talking to each other. The employee who worked the front desk did not find it important to let us know they needed to order a filter from Napa and that it would be a longer wait. After almost 2 hours he comes in and checks us out without an apology for the wait or even acknowledging that we had waited for that long and not told why. After we had left, he then decides to call us and apologize for the wait and blames Napa for taking so long. Which is clearly not the issue, you need to inform customers when the job is taking longer than planned. This location is completely unprofessional and they do not seem to understand customer service. read more

When you have a old POS car like mine going to a mechanic is like going to the dentist for a cleaning and leaving with a root canal. I needed my car in for a few issues such as a hanging muffler, heater blowing cold air, and new brakes. Months earlier my previous mechanic told me that i need both new front brakes, rear, new rotors, and drums so i figured i would try out a new mechanic. This is where Midas came in. I went online at the beginning of the week to schedule a Saturday morning appointment. Yes, open on Saturdays! All week I had been dreading hearing the results of a full car check up and dropped it off on Friday night. Saturday morning i get a call from the manager Chris. My coolant was low and it was affecting my heater, my muffler was hanging but still intact, and I needed a oil change. He checked out both the front and rear brakes that another unnamed mechanic told me needed to have almost the whole system replaced. Chris told me i had 50% life left on both my fronts and rears and had no reason to replace them yet. This saved me around $500 that i would have gotten taken for by the other unnamed mechanic. The coolant and muffler issues? Chris filled my coolant and re-bent my muffler for FREE! All week I had been expecting to drop anywhere form $500-$800 and walked out with a bill of clean health and a $30 oil change! These guys are honest, fair, and explain everything that needs to be done in detail. First mechanic I can actually have some faith it. Go see these guys next time a problem arises and you will receive A+ costumer service! read more

I came here on 2/22/16 to get the headlight bulb on my car replaced. I called to make a same day appointment and talked with Dan. He was very friendly and accommodating and gave me a 5:30 appointment. Got there, my light was changed quickly and I was told my car was ready. Was very happy at the time. When I got to my residence, I noticed that the headlight was extremely dim. I knew I had to take it back. Called the next morning and talked to Chris and asked for Dan who is the manager but was told he's off on Tuesdays. I explained the issue. Was told to bring the car by at my convenience. I went by at lunchtime. They looked at my car for a little bit and then called me into the repair part of the shop. One of the repairmen said to me "Is this better"? To which I thought there is no way for me to know if it's better or not in a lighted workstation. I asked them if they replaced the bulb with the same bulb they took out of my car to which they said yes and showed me the bulb. I had to ask alot of questions to finally find out that the bulb they originally put in was defective. That didn't sit right with me. Instead of asking me "is this better", why not just simply tell me that the bulb was defective and that a new one was put in? At no time was I given an apology for the inconvenience. I was sorry Dan wasn't there that day because my experience the next day was totally the opposite of the service I was given before. As a consumer, I rather you be real with me and tell me honestly what is going on instead of pulling me along and that is how I felt I was treated when I brought my car back in. read more

This is my first non restaurant review and to be honest the first time I've ever had a positive experience with a mechanic. I've been rather lucky with having a friend do my brakes on a couple of vehicles I've owned for little to nothing until he moved away. I took my car to this location & not only was the customer service excellent but they didn't try to sell me any bullshit either. When they did tell me I needed my tires rotated, I said I would take care of it in a later time. Guess what? They threw it in for FREE. Not only that but it was fairly busy & there was an elderly gentleman ahead of me that was dropping off with out a ride home. It easily would of taken them at least 2 hours until they would of been able to service his car. They offered him a ride home! Who does that? No one I know of in any industry. read more

I wish I could give this Midas location an extra star - their service surpassed my exceptions and cost me way less than all the competitors. I went in to try and fix a noisy exhaust system. It's always been noisy but after a slight incident with a speed bump, it got a lot worse. I went in fearing the worst but they quoted me on a small, easy fix. No problem. When I went to pick it up, they informed me that it turned out to require a little extra work, including hunting down the right piece, but did not charge me a penny more than the initial estimate. When I got in the car, I couldn't believe my ears... I didn't hear anything! In more 5+ years of owning this car, it has NEVER ran this quietly. The work, and service, was professional and top notch. He contacted me personally right away to apologize for all of the mix-ups during my appointment. Then he made arrangements with me to get my car taken care of at a time that was convenient for me. I've been getting oil changes done here for a few years and I have never had a bad experience! They are quick and efficient and I have also never had a problem using a coupon. The two guys who are at the front desk are always very courteous. If there is something that needs to be fixed or changed in my car, after they do a check during the oil change, they take the time to explain it to me but are never pushy to get the work done there. I can tell that they are honest and don't take advantage of the fact that I am clueless when it comes to anything auto related. They are transparent with price quotes so that I can compare elsewhere for bigger repairs if I want to. I also appreciate the array of magazines that they have out for me to read while waiting. Why is it that the only time we realize how much we rely on our car is when there is something wrong with it? Having a reliable place that you can take your car for an honest evaluation of the current and prospective repair needs of your car is so helpful and refreshing! Many years ago, I started taking my cars to Midas when they needed new mufflers, then, brakes. Having experienced a number of less than honest, courteous, or qualified car repair places, I was thrilled when Midas became a full-service shop. Since my car is no longer in its infancy, it increasingly needs more attention. Everyone that works at this Midas is wonderfully friendly and helpful. The mechanics thoroughly inspect and diagnose the problem(s), determine what needs to be done and get to work, making sure that my car is fixed properly and safely THE FIRST TIME! I also like the way that Chris patiently explains everything about what is necessary to complete the repair, including cost and time frame. I brought a coupon for a $20 synthetic blend oil change and I signed the paper they printed out after I gave them all my information. They brought my car inside and then they tried to tell me that the manufacturer recommends the upgraded oil even though I've used the blend at every other place with no problem. As soon as Dave Shupe's (Service Manager) calming voice greeted me on the other end of the phone, I knew this was not your ordinary car shop. Dave patiently asked me questions, provided helpful advice, and offered to have me bring the car over without an appointment. While I figured the entire exhaust system was shot, Dave insisted upon an inspection. Within an hour of dropping the car off, Dave called letting me know what did, and did not, need repairing. Since this was an older car, I needed to spend the least amount of money on replacing the exhaust. Dave's honesty let me know I didn't need to replace a very expensive catalytic converter; just the other rusted pipes and muffler. The parts were ordered that morning, and by late afternoon the car was ready for pick up - and the car sounds great (as in quiet)! I took my 2004 car (has 100k mi) into a different auto repair shop (Meineke on Schmale) today for an oil change; and while performing their routine multiple-point inspection, they saw that my rear brakes were done recently. I told them I had the brake work done at the Midas shop on Roosevelt in Wheaton just a few weeks ago. They asked, out of curiosity, how much it cost. They also replaced my serpentine belt. When I pulled the detailed receipt out of my glove box to show them exactly what I had done and what it cost, they ran the numbers through their program. I would saved about $300 had I taken to Meineke! read more

I met my hubby five years ago and he was taking his car here for service and was always happy. So, naturally he started taking my car there and always felt service was fair and honest. We had a rapport with the manager(s) and appreciated their service. Recently we had an issue with my car and wound up going in for several visits which was very frustrating and the interim manager wasn't very helpful. We wrote a complaint letter and received a call from the person that screwed up which was really nice. We also got a call from a regional manager who apologized, explained the situation without feeding me b.s. and offered a free oil change. Great customer service, fair prices and very courteous. I needed a simple repair on my car- I've been here for 3 hours now, and was just informed the part they put in my car was broken and the old part needed to go back in. Now I have to drive away, three hours totally wasted. I will not be returning! While I've been waiting, countless people have gotten their oil changed. I've been going to this Midas for 15+ years and will continue to do so. I have a 21 year old car (as well as 2 newer cars) and at one time or another Midas has replaced most every part on the engine, brakes, exhaust, and steering. Just a few weeks ago I bought a set of tires here as well. The only thing they would not do over the years was a transmission rebuild. The guys at the front desk are great to deal with and give honest assessments. They will tell you when something is starting to go and they don't push you to do it on the spot if it's not necessary. The mechanics are great at explaining the problem(s). Very pleasant, trustworthy and a group that actually seems to enjoy what they do. Also they warranty repairs and parts as good as any others I know of. I've taken my car elsewhere for quotes only to return to this Midas to find out either the part does not need to be replaced or if it does, Midas will do the same repair at a better price. It's never pleasant to have to pay for car repairs, but your dollar goes a long way here and I know they are being honest with me. So when you need your car repaired, go get a quote somewhere else and then bring your car to this Midas for the repair. You will be happy you did and know you saved some $. read more
