We went to the Metro Diner after finding it on Yelp. My go to when in places not familiar with. We came here after going to the movies. They have plenty of parking. We were greeted well. Our booth was nice. I got the banana sauce waffle special. It was good but was lacking the sauce when served. I asked for more and that helped it. My girlfriend and I stopped in for shrimp and grits, and they absolutely nailed it. We had Troy as a server! He was kind and had a Nice sense of humor. We went here in honor of my Dad Kenny. He ordered from this restaurant 3 times a week and loved the fish fry, and breakfast. I would always order the salomn. My Dad is no longer with us but coming here gave a sense of home and peace. This is a true casual diner where everyone is welcome. Stopped in for dinner Carryout while traveling and enjoyed some great fried chicken with green beans and macaroni & cheese. My meal was outstanding after a long, hard day! The flavor and crunch on the chicken had me eating more of the huge portion than I should (I almost ate half a chicken ya'll!). The green beans were ok but the Mac & cheese was a wonderful surprise! Topping that there was a normal sized croissant top. Totally edible but awkward and weird to pick up. I ended up just cutting the excess croissant off and trying to make it more the proper shape to be able to eat. By then it was a little cold but it took me a few to decide best ways to make it edible. My husband and I were in town and decided to try Metro Diner for breakfast based on the positive reviews it had. I'm happy to say we weee not disappointed! The restaurant was fairly busy for breakfast and our server was very quick to greet us very shortly after we sat down. Additionally, she was very friendly and attentive throughout our meal, even refilling my husband's coffee without him having to ask. There was an error on the bill which she quickly addressed and corrected. For breakfast my husband ordered chicken and waffles and I ordered fried chicken Benedict. My husband enjoyed his meal and the portion was quite large. My Benedict was delicious, with a fresh made biscuit and perfectly poached eggs. Im glad we found this restaurant and gave it a try! This new Metro diner is great! Slightly small so waiting will happen to you here. The staff was very attentive and our food came out quickly! They always have specials for breakfast and lunch and they never disappoint. The apple cinnamon waffles also came in pancakes, the bacon was crispy, and the Southwest scramble bowl had so much flavor. Long wait when arrived just after opening. Soup was cold. I ordered a bowl of soup but it was a 1 cup serving in a bowl. When I asked if they could microwave it, they forgot to bring it back. Tried it again for lunch. No go. I had fish and chips. I think the fish was tilapia (they didn't say) and the fish was very thin at one end and slightly thick at the other and tasted fishy. The batter was oily and heavy. The fries were limp. The coleslaw had no flavor. The tartar sauce just tasted like sour mayonnaise (maybe was mayo and pickle juice?) The entire thing was just not tasty. As usual the service was friendly and attentive. Not only my server, but the next table over, the server was working hard to please his guests. The menu didn't have a whole lof of choice for lunches, a few sandwiches (club, grilled cheese, cheesesteak) and didn't list any soups though I think they had them. Hard to read the board on the back wall. Sad to say, I'm just not a fan--but many people seem to like the fried chicken and waffles which is their specialty and indeed the place smells like waffles when you walk in. I don't like chicken and waffles so I cannot judge. Cute little diner that was featured on diners, drive-ins and dives. I believe it was specifically for their biscuits and gravy, which I must say is the best I've ever seen. The friend chicken Benny was also very good! My meal, which was one of their newer options - the southwest burrito left something to be desired. It didn't have enough fillings in it and alot of the wrap was wasted. It was nicely griddled in the waffle maker which I can appreciate. They do have many breakfast side options - including cheesy grits which is my favorite, but I wanted some protein since there was no meat on the southwest burrito and I chose to pay the extra money for some Canadian bacon which was well cooked.
