Myself and friends headed to Tom Foolery's after a fun day at Delafare, primarily because the staff at the hotel where my friends were staying recommended it. I'm glad, because with it being slightly off the 'main drag' in Middletown, we might not have seen it otherwise. We arrived towards the end of the dinner rush hour, and fortunately were seated over by where a musician was playing. It was a busy night, and we were tired and hungry from a day at the faire. As it was busy, there were sportsball games going and the musician playing, shouting was required for discussion and we had some funny misunderstandings YOUR GRAPE IS ON THE MOON? WHAT? Oh, your gravy is a little cool! :) The musician was great, playing lots of 70s and 80s hits, and he seemed to enjoy us singing along and dancing. We are, after all, rennies. We're glad he was enjoying us as much as we were enjoying his music. We got drinks and menus quickly, and our server was attentive without being pushy. After a few minutes looking over the menu, she appeared and we ordered. I got the Stampede Burger, while one of my friends got the Prime Dip sandwich (AKA French Dip), and one got chicken fingers. All came in reasonable time and were quite good, hearty food. So, why the one star off? Dessert. Could we have a brownie sundae? Out of brownies. OK, how about chocolate cake? Out of that, too. Uh...red velvet? Out. Basically everything chocolate. Sigh. Yeah, it was busy but not insane. We ended up not getting dessert, and it was disappointing. Whoever's managing food orders and prep, please do better. Also, if it's not available, it would have been great for the server to say so up front, that way she didn't have to tell us no 3 times. A middletown gem. Ive passed this place quite a few times and a late night craving yesterday turned into a visit last night and today lol we went durning video bingo night, which is every Tuesday. The bar was full and most of the tables in the dining area were full. We opted to sit towards the front that has a few booths. Also, the place is a "Seat Yourself" establishment. The customer service was amazing, as both of our waitresses were the sweetest. We ordered Lemon Pepper wings, Jerk Chicken Empanadas, and Tuscan Chicken. We also had these watermelon mocktails the bartender whipped up for us that were sooooo good. Although the food took a long time to come out, it was certainly worth the wait! The wings were cooked and seasoned to perfection. The Tuscan Chicken was good and well portioned also. However, the star of the show was the Jerk Chicken Empanadas! They must have marinated that chicken for at least 1-2 days because the jerk taste was so powerful. Tasted like it was made on the streets of Jamaica. The sauce that comes with it was the perfect pairing as well. The food was so good, I went back the next day with my husband so he could try. They also have DJ's on Fridays and I believe Karaoke on Thursdays. I will for sure be visiting again to try more from their menu. read more

Friendly service even when they are busy! This is a great place to grab wings or a burger. Also good to just hang out and have a couple drinks. We were a group of five. We had no trouble getting a seat in this busy restaurant. It's on the end of a strip mall that is under construction. The place is fairly noisy, so it's a bit hard to hear the servers and vice-versa. We got the mac and cheese bites and the chicken tenders as appetizers. Everyone enjoyed those fried goodies. The tenders appear to be made there, not Sysco specials. The table ordered some burgers, a cutlet sandwich, and I got the crabcake sandwich. This place is built to please, my partner and I showed up to this place and she has been going here for years. This was my first, they had brunch, and their brunch is out of this world. I had the sausage smash, and it was outta this world. I took one bite and it reminded me of my grandmothers cooking. I tried her chorizo tacos as well, and the crème and the pickled onions were a magical mix. Even their seasons potato's were amazing. Our service was amazing and very upfront. Abby was our server and she was full of energy and corny jokes that kept it a very u eat tempo. We got to talk to the daytime manager Kristen and she was fantastic and even recommend the sausage sandwich which she was spot on. Stopped here for dinner with my wife. Walking in I did not think that I would be getting a cheesesteak. But after perusing the menu the cheesesteak sounded really good. Sliced ribeye, caramelized onions, Cooper sharp cheese sauce and a Liscio's seeded roll. And it was really good. Very well seasoned, great roll. I would call the onions fried and I would have liked a little more cheese sauce, but still really good. My wife got the French dip and that was also very good. And a full bar to boot. Passing through, we stopped in Middletown for the night, and yelled to find a good place to eat. And, boy did we! Friday night, live music, at a reasonable volume - playing lots of 90s covers on acoustic guitar. The service was fast, and the food is gourmet, while the vibe is laid back. I had the "Ferret" - their version of chicken Parmesan. It was awesome. Breaded chicken with marinara - but topped with fettuccini Alfredo. A great take on something I've eaten my whole my whole life. The chicken was fried perfectly - still tender and juicy. And the Alfredo lent a creaminess I wasn't expecting. A++ My wife had the chicken Chesapeake. It's pan seared chicken breaded topped with a creamy Delaware crab topping. The old bay was just the right touch. We split a cheesecake - this week was key lime. It was good, but not quite cheesecake and not quite key lime pie. Also, giant draft miller lite was only $6 a glass. Came in on a weekday afternoon for lunch as we were in the area as visitors. We sat at the bar and ordered a salad with a crab cake and salmon and veggies. While the food was edible there wasn't anything special or surprising to distinguish it or make it stand out in our memory. The drinks were cold. The restraint menus had feared to us for drinks and food were dirty and we wondered where they had been and why they weren't clean for patrons. The thing that really left a lot to be desired was the attitude of the staff. They were more interested in creating cocktails for social media than they were anticipating our needs or making us enjoy our experience. Water was never offered. This restaurant will fill your belly but I would not seek them out or give them another chance. With a tip we spent $94. read more

We were in town for Frightland. Found Tom's. We were seated right away. They have indoor and outdoor seating. They had live entertainment on Saturday night. The entertainment was not too loud. You can have a conversation without shouting. The bar area has lots if Tv's. The entire staff is friendly and very attentive. We were greeted by Jarrith, our server. He went over the menu and brought us over our water and drinks. He was great. Checked in often. Updated us on the status of our meal. The only thing I was disappointed with was my drink, the apple (something, dont remember the rest). It was on the specials menu. It was supposed to have a caramel rim and it didnt. For appetizer, we had bacon wrapped scallops in BBQ sauce. Scallops were perfectly cooked. Bacon was crisp. Great flavor. For our meal we ordered the crab cakes with French fries. Crab cakes were tasty, served with tarter sauce, and hand cut fries. You can choose any side for the platter. We also ordered the bullpen sandwich. It was a pork sandwich with a spicy pepper. The pepper had the perfect level of spiciness. Instead of fries ordered a side of coleslaw. It was creamy not runny. It had good flavor. For dessert, we ordered the apple crumb cheesecake to share. I've only DoorDash from Tom foolery's but I know that their crabcakes were pretty decent and the food seemed very tasty to me

The food was all around 10/10, as appetizers we got the stuffed mushrooms and bacon wrapped scallops. Both dishes came out in a timely manner. We got some alcoholic beverages, the spicy margarita and the Mexican mule, both very good as well. For our main course we got the shrimp tempura tacos and the steak and cake, which was a steak and a crab cake, as well as a side of fries which were seasoned nicely and a side of the Mac and cheese. Both meals were amazing. The service was also a 10/10, our waitress was great and very helpful with the menu as we were new to this restaurant. The restaurant was clean and organized with other friendly staff as well. Definitely will be going again. read more

I came here with family and friends to celebrate my sister joining the Air Force. We had a group of six, and while the food took a little while to come out, the staff was attentive and made sure our drinks were always full. We ordered a variety of dishes including the cheesesteak, a burger, fish, and onion rings. The portions were generous, and we were pleasantly surprised by how affordable the bill was for the amount of food we received. The onion rings were a bit on the hard side, but overall, everything tasted great. I'd definitely recommend this spot and would happily come back again. I've eaten at this restaurant a few times in the past but this was my first to go order placed through door dash and I'll never do that again (I have nothing against Door Dash) and I won't order the wings again. I asked for Honey Wings Fries hard with extra sauce and what I received was fried hard wings with the sauce at the bottom of the container . I also received wings that had several feathers still attached as you can see pictured below. This tells me that they aren't fully present while preparing the food and the customers experience isn't a priority. read more

My wife, sister and I went back to Tom Foolery restaurant and they had some new items on the menu. We got crab bisque and lobster bisque was the special soup of the day. Both were delicious. New menu item Thai Jammin wings. Very good with just the right spice and sweet. We got scallops and crab cakes dishes and they were delicious also with red velvet cake and salted caramel cake. Both were great. Our server was very attentive and had help as the restaurant was filling up with patrons. They had live music that we heard and the restaurant was clean and neat. Not a lot of unique food options in Middletown, where we stayed for the night but the food menu here looked good and we were looking for something simple and tasty. They had some live music playing on the Saturday night that we went, but we were sat further away so we didn't see the band. We were seated quickly, but it took awhile for our server to greet us. The drink menu didn't have prices - which I am always wary with. I ended up getting a mule for $12. The menu had lots of bar-type items to choose from that I had a hard time deciding from. We got old bay honey wings which were small but delicious - I kept scraping up the sweet and salty sauce. Next, I was convinced to go with the brisket quesadilla over the rockfish tacos. This is where disappointment came. I went with this dish because the waiter said they would be thick and meaty vs the small portion of the tacos. However, my quesadillas were spread THIN- I was mostly eating tortilla and bbq sauce I couldn't even finish it (see photo). At least my husband really enjoyed his burger. read more

Went with my family while visiting for the holidays and it was a delightful dinner experience! We were sat in a booth right by the door which wasn't ideal, but the space was large and our waiter was incredibly nice and on top of it. We ordered so much food and she didn't write anything down which always impresses me! We got the crab fries as an appetizer and devoured them they were so yummy and warm. I then had the chili and wings, both of which were delicious, although the wings could've been better coated with a thicker sauce (it was a bit runny). This place has a bunch of TVs if you're looking to watch a game! The servers are very attentive as well. The food is decent and pricing is on par with the food/drinks. This place is always pretty busy and has a nice casual vibe. Not too many young kids as you might expect. If your a basketball fan this is your crowd! I loved all the apps we ordered. We had heard really good things about this place, so we were excited to try them out. Unfortunately we were not pleased. The Crab/Lobster dip tasted like cream cheese and cheddar, with no taste of either crab or lobster. There was barely any meat in the cheesesteak egg rolls. The crab cakes were mushy and no flavor. We had a group of 12 at 11:30am on a Sunday and the service and food was incredible! I got crab dip with pretzels and lobster and crab dip with tortilla chips. The pretzels were perfectly Warm, soft and toasty. They smothered them in the dip. I wish the cheese dip was on the side and they bought a few extra pretzels for my mom without the sauce (how nice)! We had a great lunch at Tom Foolery's this past weekend. We had the Southwestern egg rolls for an appetizer and they were yummy. Loved the hot honey they drizzled across the top. My old man had the crab bisque and a steak salad, while I had the Monte Cristo sandwich and a house salad. Everything was really good but neither of us really cared for the fancy lettuce in the salads. Romaine would have been better but that is just our personal preference. The service was friendly and super fast and we didn't have problems with anything. Definitely a winner. read more

We got the steak & crabcake, burger, onion soup, and kids meal. Asked for the meats to be cooked to medium. Everything was well done and a little dry including the crabcake. I would say this place is fine if you want average bar food. read more
