I went to this guy several years ago and I found him to be a real ass. He seems to think that all his patients are poor and can not afford to pay for quality glasses . I found it insulting. He did push contacts . . Then he pushed bifocals which turned out to be a pain. I had to hold my head up at an angle to see my computer screen.. He gets a 2 out of 10 . I Will never return read more

I was in search of a new optometrist for my family after our last doctor stop taking our VSP insurance. I am so happy we found Dr. Wagner. He was able to get all three of my children appointments on the same day. Both Dr. Wagner and his assistant were friendly and kind. My children warmed up to them right away. Dr. Wagner preformed very thorough exams and even explained the images they captured of the back their eyes. They provide plenty of options of frames and fits. My family and I have been going to Dr. Wagner ever since he came to Middletown, but he has often given my family a very hard time and he always jumps to conclusions easily, he is always ready to criticize any one of us he might not like in front of patients, stating things like we can't afford such item. My family and I have never walked out of there paying NO LESS then $375.00 and most definitely paying much, much more, and that is with insurance coverage. He has tried to recharge me for service and glasses paid in full, I have had show him receipts and then he backs down. (So please save all your receipts, he will try to recharge you, if he thinks you are nieve!) I feel he is somewhat racist, he has always treated my son very badly and most recently my husband on Saturday, he was very rude, talks to him as if he does not comprehend, & tells him to wait his turn because we are early! When he wasn't talking to the Dr. at all... says we couldn't afford the frames he was looking at! The doctor should not judge, and he should look at out records to see if we can or cant afford the frames. He is constantly saying he is the only eye doctor in 4 counties that will take our insurance. He wants us to back down to him and feel as if he was doing us a favor by going to him. My son's have never like him at all, because of the way he treats them. I often told my sons don't pay attention to him...he is just an older, unhappy man, he needs prayer (give him a chance.) (Well he most certainly need prayer!) This Saturday after he was making those remarks to my husband in front of everyone we both stunned! The very kind and sweet receptionist lady asked us if we wanted to go to the exam room, (we said yes.) Once in there Dr. Wagner came in shortly, I kindly asked him as to why he said those things out there to my husband? He said what and I said? I replied; About you saying we wanted everything FREE, when we have always paid everything, and way over what the insurance covers, & he couldn't afford certain frames. He said, no I didn't... I said yes, the other patients were giggling at your remarks, I said look at your records to see if we can afford certain items, infact you have tried to over charge me a few times, but luckily I keep my receipts. He yelled at me and said; you just leave the room (and waved his out at me...very degrading. ) I said, what you can't handle the truth? My husband said let's go, and told him he had enough of him being rude to me! Then I said good choice husband, and I said I have had enough of you being rude to my sons too, and taking advantage of us! Then he kept arguing, I said stop you miserable man! He said; I haven't tried over charge you! (ha... I laughed and said, do you remember when you called and said that one of my son bought one of your most expensive pair of glasses you have in your shop?!? What did I say? Did you forget??? I gave you my credit card, I paid for it and thanked you, and those were one of the pairs of glasses you tried to recharge me for. I am so old school that I save all my receipts, I showed them to you and you couldn't believe I had my receipts. (Ughhh.... I am so done with this man!) Please be careful with this man everyone, he is not all there, he wants show he is kind but then he throws out very rude comments, and he will get mad if you ask for a copy of your prescription, or if you tell him you bought reader glasses somewhere else. I was in there a couple months ago and he yelled at an old man he made him shake, because the old man humbly said he bought reader glasses at the dollar store. Dr. Wagner went off on him, I was stunned but not surprised, I felt so bad for the man. (Save all your receipts...) I do not like to give reviews like this but this was very upsetting and we had enough abuse from this man! If you do choose to go to him good luck and stay on his good side and save all of your receipts. Blessings read more

We really like this place. I've been going to Dr Wagner for over a year. I have found him both very professional and very very helpful. As I get older, I'm having more problems, and he helps me get my eyesight back where it should be. My wife was having problems with cataracts, and he was able to ease her mind until she can get surgery. I would highly recommend this place. It has been very good for us. read more

One of the worst experiences I had. I was told to get blue light coating on my lenses and when they arrived it was extremely hard to drive in the dark so I asked for it to be removed. It took months and when I tried to inquire about when I would receive my glasses I was told that the coating was still on and that dr Wagner was going to re sell the frames and trash the lenses instead of giving me my glasses after billing my insurance. I was also written a letter by the dr that was extremely unprofessional. It seemed like a lot of miscommunication. I finally got my glasses and the lenses were covered in sharpie marks. When I asked for a copy of my prescription is was written drastically incorrect and was unable to be used. I would never recommend this office. read more

Needs to retire !!! Did not listen to your / my needs at all !!!! He upsells wants everyone to wear contacts . And he did not get my prescription right after Ttying to tell him what I need !!! guarantee he will force contacts in you and he says you can leave them in for 6 months .
