    Tres leches and lavender vanilla
    Eugene C.

Swung by here for a coffee fix as it was nearby our lunch spot. It's got a clean modern interior with a motorcycle propped up nearby which is pretty cool. Ended up ordering a lavender vanilla and a tres leches latte. Both lattes had a prominent espresso taste and were not overly sweet which was nice. The tres leches was the sweeter of the two drinks but was not overbearing at all. Both drinks were priced lower than what you might normally see nowadays (6.50) and were quite tasty. Definitely worth a visit if you need some coffee!

Was across the street and craving a really good coffee so stopped in. Asked the barista for a suggestion and she made me a half sweet tres leches latte. It was DELICIOUS! Will absolutely be back to try more of the menu.

NEW LOCAL COFFEE SHOP IN NORTH PARK! Do not miss this one! The coffee is smooth and the tres leches latte has a subtle flavor that isn't too sweet or overpowering. Extremely tasty and not overpriced like some of the nearby coffee shops. I paid $7 for a regular tres leches latte with oat milk and an added shot (4 shots total -- pro tip: it's the same price to add 1 and 2 shots so why not go big?) The barista was really chill and friendly and we got our drinks super fast! Small shop but they were playing good music and have some pretty rad merch. Would definitely check this place out!

Got the M.A. (Midnight Animal) Tonic with ginger syrup and it was delicious! You can taste the espresso even with the syrup. And it wasn't acidic! Staff was friendly and helpful. Decent amount of seating. Parking lot is small. Would come back for the M.A. Tonic with a different syrup.

I was in the area and stopped by to try a coffee. I ordered the pumpkin spice because I didn't see many other options on the menu, flavor wise. It was a very simple menu, and I like to try new flavors. It was pretty tasty but not my favorite. It's a very aesthetic place, the owners did a good job with the decor.

Midnight Animal Coffee has been on my list for a while now and I finally got the chance to come try them out! Sadly they didn't have the non dairy cold foam that you can top on different drinks. And they came out with new seasonal flavors. That I personally like, but I know they weren't for my family. The space was good! You could fit probably +16 people in this space. Near the end of the espresso bar against the newspaper wall, there's a table for 2! Even in-front there was seating. The parking lot is shared, but the time we went there was lots of parking. As well as street parking. The worker was really kind and chill! The prices did go slightly up as mentioned on their Instagram post. To compare flavors to 7 Seas Iced Brown Sugar Rosemary Latte, I happily ordered Midnight Animal's seasonal special: Iced Rosemary Latte. It's a house made syrup of organic brown sugar and rosemary. This flavor is perfect for spring! I loved that there was more of a Rosemary oomph! The coffee was strong and had the perfect milk ratio. My brother had the ~$6.50 Iced Lavender Vanilla with Oat Milk. He enjoyed it and as a lavender lover it had a unique taste to it. This was a different kind of lavender that I'm used to. Overall, I had an enjoyable time here and I love their theme of motorcycles and coffee. Too bad it's a small lot because having a cars n coffee here would be so cool! They also have coffee beans, honey, tea, T Shirts, & long sleeves. A nice spot to stop for Coffee.

Walked in on a quiet afternoon. Luckily there was a parking spot open, which is a win in that smaller lot. The man working was very friendly and open to questions. They have housemade syrups, which is always a bonus in my book. Makes flavored drinks so much better than Torani or something like that. And they have unique flavors too like tres leches and cafe de olla in addition to more traditional ones. I ordered a latte with the cafe de olla. It was really good. The syrup added the perfect amount of flavor without being too sweet or drowning the taste of the espresso. They don't charge exta for alternative milks anymore, which is much appreciated! I will definitely return. It's not super close to me, but when in North Park, it's definitely worth a visit. Love the theme as well!

Match Latte with the sugar and spice was amazing! This matcha tasted like the milk from Cinnamon Toast Crunch and was served at the correct temperature. The barista was so kind and made me feel so valued. I definitely recommend you come visit for the coffee and Matcha. 5 stars

Really great coffee with a really cool space and chill vibes. The place itself is not huge and it's located in a smaller strip mall in the Northpark area. The person helping us was really friendly. Oh, there's also really cool Ducati sitting in the store lol. The strip mall is small so parking could be be a little challenging. But I was able to find parking about two blocks away, which was great since I was visiting a few spots in the area. It truly is a walkable area so finding parking this particular space is not a huge deal.

Was excited to visit this location. The name sounded enticing. The location seemed ideal. But the place and the coffee fell a little flat. Everything just was mediocre here unfortunately. Place could seat maybe 8 people inside and about 6ish people outside. It's a small place that is motorcycle themed. Theres a motorcycle inside. There are newspaper clippings of it inside on the wall near the merch and (maybe just on this day) the barista gave "bad boy" vibes. The menu is pretty straightforward. There are seasonals. Today they offered a matcha tres leche and a rosemary latte. They also offer cortado, americanos etc. they have regular drip as well and you can add different syrups to the coffee. I ordered the two seasons. The tres leche with oat milks cold and the rosemary hot with whole milk. The rosemary won. The matcha tasted more like matcha than tres leche and so the flavor profile wasn't really there. The rosemary sorta won by default. Both were okay. The barista was doing it all. He was chill. They also sell merchandise, oatmeal, and coffee ground. Parking was tough. It has a small lot. I had to find parking on the street.

It's a small cafe, but still has a couple of seats if you want to hang out and chat. It's not too crowded the two times I've been, and the seats are actually more comfortable than they look. I've had the tres leches cafe both iced and hot, and I like this latte quite a bit. I am more sensitive to caffeine than the average person, and I found this coffee to be quite strong. The barista was friendly to everyone and had great vibes.

Great little coffee shop. I went with a friend who ordered the tres leches matcha. I had the tres leches latte with oat milk. It was so good!! Not overly sweet and I could still taste the coffee which sometimes is a miss with lattes at other coffee places. I love the edgy decor and the service was good. I will definitely return and I highly recommend it.

After a day spent with my general contractor and having waited for an appliance pick-up service to show up, I was finally free and made my way to Modern Times Flavordome. In my quest to explore and familiarize myself with the North Park neighborhood, this was the latest brewery that was within walking distance from our place that I had to try. Founded and opened in the San Diego's Point Loma neighborhood in 2013 by Jacob McKean, they were California's first employee-owned brewery and rapidly expanded into several locations along the West Coast. Over the next decade, the craft beer industry started to constrict, a mismanaged over-expansion, the pandemic, and scandal led to the downfall of its founder in 2021, new leadership, and then eventual new ownership by Maui Brewing Co. and contract brewing handled by local AleSmith Brewing Co. Today, only two standalone locations remained along with an added coffee line. Did I enjoy the flavors of their modern time beer!? PURCHASE(S) Modern Times Beer Orderville Hazy NEIPA Beer 7.2% ABV 16floz Draft ($6.00 HH): Hazy orange color, citrusy dank hoppy aroma, low body, citrusy dry hoppy flavor, drying finish, and citrusy dry hoppy aftertaste. Kettle Brand Potato Chips Sea Salt 1oz Bag ($3.00): My favorite potato chips brand, these were the only thing to nibble on while I enjoyed a draft or two. Modern Times Beer MT Pils Pilsner Beer 4.8% ABV 16floz Draft ($6.00 HH): Hazy amber color, citrusy malty aroma, light body, citrusy malty flavor, clean dry smooth finish, and citrusy malty aftertaste. Boulder Canyon Avocado Oil Classic Sea Salt Kettle Style Potato Chips 1oz Bag ($3.00): A brand I wasn't familiar with, again, I just needed something to snack on while I imbibed. These were rather tasty! Modern Times Beer Black House Coffee Stout Beer 5.8% ABV 16floz Draft ($6.00 HH): Dark brown color, coffee roasty toasty aroma, medium body, coffee creamy roasty toasty flavor, mouthfeel smooth finish, and coffee roasty toasty aftertaste. Modern Times Beer Tropicolossal IPA Beer 6.8% ABV 16floz (Draft $9.50): Rich amber color, fruity mango pineapple tropical aroma, light body, fruity mango pineapple sweet flavor, smooth finish, and fruity mango pineapple tropical aftertaste. This was my favorite of the bunch! "Velvet Goldmine Original Soundtrack" Used CD ($6.95): An out-of-print CD from a fun movie, I had to add this to my expansive music collection! Modern Times Beer Fruited Orderville Guava Hazy IPA Beer 7.0% ABV 16floz Can 4pk ($16.00): Hazy orange color, citrusy fruity guava papaya tropical aroma, light body, fruity guava tropical flavor, creamy finish, and citrusy guava papaya tropical aftertaste. SERVICE I was initially greeted by a friendly young gentleman behind the bar where I grabbed a stool, made myself at home for a couple of hours with 2026 FIFA World Cup matches on, and drank the afternoon away. Eventually, a young woman appeared behind the bar. Each one chatted a bit, made beer recommendations, and quickly served my beer - cheers! PARKING (Varied: FREE this instance): I simply walked the fine minutes from my place. Otherwise, there appeared to be some spots along the main drag of Upas St. and all surrounding roads (I didn't notice any lots) - 'nuff said. ATMOSPHERE, DÉCOR, AMBIENCE An open interior layout with a spacious outdoor patio, each area had many tables and chairs. The interior was a sight to see with lampshades hung from the ceiling, newspaper wallpaper, globes wallpaper covered the bathroom, and there were crates of vinyl and CDs for purchase. This was a funky groovy place! Plenty of natural lighting entered through the wall windows and doors, but I honestly couldn't recall whether or not there were any ceiling lights (I'm sure there were). There was at least one TV while classic rock & roll music played in the background. ATTIRE Totally casual, so I would normally be in a t-shirt, boardshorts, and flip-flops. OVERALL It was a chill afternoon spent at Modern Times Flavordome, and I would definitely return. They had a decent selection of beers on tap, no served food so bring your own, the prices were comparable, the vibe was kick-back, and the service was very good. I'm sure furry family members were allowed on the patio, there were Happy Hour specials (MO-FR 12pm-5pm), and almost certain nightly entertainment such as trivia, music, and more were available. I found very good value based on the prices, service, and experience noted above (TOTAL paid experience was around $81.00 BEFORE any discounts, points usage, and/or tip). And, they accepted my credit card of choice... AMEX! 4.0 STARS

So I made the trek over. Heads up: there's construction nearby, so parking was a struggle. Unfortunately, the visit ended up being a bit of a letdown. First off, they didn't have ice. I like my morning drinks iced, and I still ordered the bibingka latte, but it came without ice -- I ended up having to grab some from another restaurant since my work doesn't have a fridge. I was also excited for the longanisa sandwich, but they didn't have any hot sandwiches. What they did have was cheese rolls, a guava-filled ensaymada, and pandesal. The pastries were frozen, so he had to warm them up, which took a while. On the drink, I'd give it a 2.5/5. It was OK, but not something I'd order again. It was a balance of sweet and savory, with hints of rice flour and coconut milk -- but even ordering it less sweet, it still came out too sweet for me. The pastries were also just OK. My favorite of the bunch was the ensaymada. I really wanted to love this place given the concept, but between the missing ice, no hot sandwiches, and the frozen pastries, it didn't quite come together this visit.
