I have been wanting to try The Butcher Shop Restaurant since I arrived in Memphis, as I've passed…read moreit a number of times. The outside looks a bit dated and old‑fashioned, but the inside gives true fine‑dining steakhouse establishment vibes, and I must say their steaks do not disappoint. I highly recommend the 20‑ounce ribeye, and I also highly recommend this place for a night out on the town or for any celebratory occasion. I look forward to visiting this place again and again and again. Don't walk, run here for a visit. You will not be disappointed.

My husband and I decided to give this place a try for our tenth wedding anniversary. The bill for…read moreboth of us was $268 (they kindly added a 20% tip automatically). We ordered a couple of take-home entrees for our daughter and mom, and on every single piece of meat (stuffed fillet mignon, ribeye, and salmon), it was WELL undercooked. I ordered my filet medium rare. It was beyond rare. Our server was pleasant but running hard, meaning I had to wait 25 minutes for a glass of wine. My meal was $60 -- and I was wholly unimpressed. The women's restroom was littered with trash and the waste bin was nearly overflowing. It's just sad that a restaurant you'd expect superior service and quality from delivered such a disappointing experience. We agreed we will not be going back. Amerigo far surpasses The Butcher Shop. Encourage anyone else thinking of trying this place to consider an alternative before you waste your hard-earned dollars.

The restaurant has a really neat vibe and is decorated better than most of the restaurants in the memphis area. We came at 5:00 on a Saturday night and we were seated immediately without reservations, but when we left, they did have a small wait to get a table. We started with the pimento cheese toastie which was garlic bread with melty pimento cheese on top. We both really enjoyed it. I decided on the filet with peppercorn sauce. I asked for it it to be butterflied. My steak was cooked to perfection with the perfect amount of pink and it sliced like butter. I got the peppercorn sauce on the side and used it for a dipping sauce. I really liked the sauce, but it is really peppery. While I loved it, some might find it a little spicy. My husband had the bourbon glazed porterhouse pork chop. His was cooked perfectly fly as well and was super tender. He really enjoyed it, but mentioned that the sauce did have something in it that gave it a little spice. We shared an order of rosemary duck fat fries as the entrees come à la cart with no sides. The fries re heavy on rosemary which my husband didn't care for. I enjoyed them, but they were definitely not my favorite. Neither of us cared for the mayo sauce that they came with and preferred to eat them with ketchup. Overall it was a great experience and we will definitely be back!

Unfortunately, the food has been consistently underwhelming during my recent visits. I first ordered the lamb chops. They were not what I would consider traditional lamb chops and were surprisingly chewy and difficult to enjoy. I returned and decided to try the Irish Curry Chicken. It was, without exaggeration, one of the worst dishes I've had there. The menu described it as chicken thigh, but it was clearly chicken breast. The dish lacked basic seasoning and flavor. There was very little salt, umami, or curry flavor. The rice was wet, overcooked, and mushy. Overall, the entire meal tasted like something taken from a grocery store freezer section and reheated. At this point, I would recommend sticking to the fries and the burgers, which remain the strongest items on the menu.

I have watched it evolve, but not really, over the years. It's gotten better. I've been hitting up this place in Midtown and Snowden for years. This was my first time at this location. No frills, simple, to the point place. No need in any fancy ass lights, music, flair on the staff, overcomplicated menu items, or any other BS. There were only two ladies working here this day. I was impressed at their ability to pull off the shift as I sat and watched. The owner needs to increase the pay of these two. He has no idea how lucky he is to have them. They were awesome, I wish I knew their names. They sell a smashed type burger that is real meat, seasoned well, cooked wonderfully every time, with a side of fries that although are not fresh cut, they are pretty dang tasty. Battered fries is what I believe the term is. The coating helps them stay crisp and hot for longer. Nice invention really. Most toppings are free and it's actually very reasonable meal for today's food climate. They had a couple of specials this last time. The Cowboy and The Rajun Cajun. I had The Cowboy and it was fantastic!! Bacon, cheddar, onion rings. Yum! I will be back to try the Cajun Junt soon!! '25 - 68/111

Once I saw the menu in person (not the same online, more options), I wanted to try so much! I end up ordering a fish plate. I'm so glad they grilled option. I had it with green beans and fried okra. The fish was seasoned to perfection and it was served hot! The okra was really good as well. They were seasoned good as well. Plus they weren't greasy and heavy. I also had the cheeseburger. OMG! It was so juicy. I enjoyed all of the fresh toppings from the onions, lettuce, and tomatoes! My hubby had the lemon pepper hot wings and Parmesan cheese fries. Unfortunately, I couldn't try neither of those, but I will soon! ;) The service was really good! They made the experience all the better. The ambiance was super casual and filled with a Memphis themes. I can't wait to go back and try other menu items. I loved it!
