We had family from out of town and we wanted to take them to try authentic tacos. After searching on Yelp, we landed on Midnight Taco. Our party of five were greeted upon entering. We later realized that the guy behind the counter who took our orders is the owner or one of them. The restaurant is clean and cozy, and has ample seating including a long, communal table in the middle. Our party ordered a variety of items such as carne asada fries, quesadilla, burritos, and more. Very friendly staff and quick service, but I thought the food was just alright. Order at the counter, and if you get a soda, grab it from the fridge in the back. Indoor and outdoor seating available. I got two tacos (al pastor and carne asada), chips and salsa, and my friend got a carne asada quesadilla, all of which totaled $30. The al pastor was tasty, but the carne asada was a bit tough and not too flavorful. Both had a decent amount of toppings (cabbage, tomatoes, salsa, etc.) already added - not the typical street taco. My friend said her quesadilla had a lot of veggies, and not too much meat. The chips were a bit stale, and the salsa reminded of Tostito's salsa that was slightly blended with a spicy kick. Pulled up on a Saturday afternoon. Very nice and clean tables and chairs. Staff were very friendly. I ordered the carne asada burrito. Good size and full of meat. It was actually very filling. They don't offer a soda fountain for drinks but do have a fridge with various cold drinks. The prices are reasonable compared to other tacos spots. Not a bad little shop in a part of Gilbert that doesn't seem to have a lot of dining options. Friends and I stopped by after playing golf nearby for dinner. It's a fairly low key place. Limited seating inside (high tops) and a couple of outside tables for the nice weather. The menu is pretty simple - tacos, burritos, quesadillas, fresh salsa and chips. Drinks (cans and bottles) are grabbed from the cooler. Everything is reasonably priced. The al pastor was a little too spicy for my liking but the burrito is huge so I was able to douse it a bit with their delish salsa. The salsa is much more akin to traditional tomato paste than a pico de gallo. Chips and salsa were definitely plentiful for us to share. read more

The pollo asado was delicious as well, the carne asada without quesataco style is great. And, the veggie taco is worth ordering. We came across some shockingly good tacos in Gilbert at Midnight Taco. The restaurant is small and minimal seating is available, however based on the crowd you could tell something good was going down here. They have tacos, burritos, and quesadillas with your traditional meats. The pollo asado tacos were spectacular and the quesadillas were crispy with just the right amount of cheese. The food is really delicious. This is not a "real" sit-down restaurant (as I had thought before arriving). It's a small place in a strip center with not very many seats along the walls. One giant community picnic style high top table runs down the middle of the space with stools. Much more of a take-out place. Also they don't have a soda fountain machine so everything is in bottles and cans in a self service refrigerator and they're not cheap. Drinks are available in the fridge, which you can get it yourself --- canned or bottled drinks. 8. Keep in mind that --- the resturant hours are important. My son was getting a haircut nearby and I thought I'd grab a bite to eat. I wanted to say the food was absolutely delicious. I had a Carne Asada burrito. The establishment was clean and cozy. However, it smelled like cleaning products. The smell was so strong I had to eat my food outside. One of the recommendations I can offer from a customer is do not clean with heavy products during business hours. Definitely save that for after. Also, Customer service is important, greeting customers and welcoming them in and thanking them for their business is important. They seem to not have put any effort into this. Walked in here today 4:30 on a Saturday place is completely empty. There's two people in the kitchen male and female the male looks up at me. I smile and nod hello and receive no reaction. Minute later he places a to-go order on the counter and rings a bell and looks at me. I asked him how he's doing? He looks at me and no reaction again. We got the Queso Carne Asada tacos and it's packed with flavor. Carne asada, flavor packed pico, avocado salsa, cabbage, topped with grilled queso . I got the Serrano and jalapeño salsa to top it off and WOW, I was shocked of how flavorful the tacos were. I'm used to eating the basic street tacos but this is next level. Finally decided to check out the taco place by my neighborhood. A little small inside, not much room to eat in if you want to. They were cooking when I got there, so it was a little smokey inside, but it added to the atmosphere! I ordered a carne asada taco, an al pastor taco and a Sonoran hot dog they say they have the best carne asada, and I am almost 100% sure they are right. Great smokey steak flavor with plenty of taco filling. The al pastor was good too, just not as flavorful as I prefer. The Sonoran dog was the best I have come across in the greater Phoenix area. In fact I wii go a step farther and say it is one of the best in Arizona. The bun had the perfect amount of chew and held up well against the delicious piled on toppings.
