It also lends a bit of umami flavor as well. It is best used for matcha lattes. Also, it worked well as a koicha, if you want that intense flavor. I simply made a matcha affogato, which I enjoyed. However, Isuzu wasn't my favorite. Glad I tried it. SELF-ORDER KIOSKS There are two kiosks that you can place your order and they will call your number. I do think you can order at the register, although I'm not completely sure, as I saw a screen at the front register, but everyone ordered at the self-order kiosks. I went on a Wednesday around 1:00pm, so there was no line. I saw a few people standing around to look at the menu and two people sitting down at the table. It was quite empty at that time. The menu is jam-packed! There's so many options that you don't know where to start. I recommend that you take a look at the online menu before arrival. Better yet, if you're closer to the shop, you can skip the line and order online on Snack Pass. ONE SAMPLE ONLY FOR GELATOS! So choose well. It is quite pointless giving out one sample. I tried both the ceremonial grade matcha and the jasmine green tea. I personally wasn't the biggest fan of the jasmine green tea since it wasn't as sweet as I usually like, but the tea flavor itself was very potent with a really nice aroma. The ceremonial grade matcha ice cream, on the other hand, was absolutely delicious. The color looked perfect and the flavor tasted super authentic and high quality. I have been to matsu matcha more than I would like to admit over this past month (less than five ok!) but it is just that good. Their matcha does not come to play and although the cost is heftier it is well worth it because the matcha is so strong which I love. My favorite ice cream combo has been the milk(super rich and creamy!) and jasmine (but the hojicha and strongest matcha are solid as well!). I did try their matcha drink and it is just as strong if not stronger than the ice cream. I won't be docking a star but I think there is room for improvement for service (an employee was staring at their phone while I was waiting at the counter). The matcha side was super smooth and actually tasted high quality, not too bitter but still strong and earthy in a good way. You can tell they don't cut corners with the matcha. The milk side balanced it out perfectly--creamy, light, and not overly sweet, which made each bite feel really clean instead of heavy. Mixing both together was honestly the best part. I don't like my matchas sweet but even their recommended 80% sweetness level was a little too bitter for my liking but overall had a strong flavor. Came here on a Monday afternoon and there was no wait. We parked on the street nearby. They also have a lot for valet. You order at the kiosk on the left. The Gelato bar is on the right side and you can ask them for a sample. They have different levels of matcha. The 4th and 5th levels have an extra charge. We got the 3rd and 5th levels. The 5th one had a really strong matcha flavor. The 3rd level was sweeter and creamier. Also got a triple matcha drink. I like that there are little matcha jellies in there. It adds a nice texture to the drink. The space has a decent amount of indoor seating but it's not a whole lot. The wooden theme is very lovely and makes it feel clean. read more

This place has gotten a lot of hype due to social media. I decided to check out this new spot. I took an uber there because by the looks of it, parking is very limited. As I got there, as expected parking was very limited and they charged for valet. The service was quite fast as they were really busy in the afternoon. Space was very limited to sit inside. And for some reason, it seemed like they didn't have any AC for customers. The banana matcha einspanner was okay! I've had better banana pudding but the matcha was good. The ube matcha was on the bitter side. Overall, the matcha did have a nice taste, didn't have a strong astringent taste. I think this place is a bit overhyped. But not bad! read more
