We drive over an hour for this gelato. Every time. That should tell you most of what you need to know. I've worked my way through every flavor at this point -- hokkaido, genmai matcha, jasmine matcha, uji matcha, extra matcha, ultra rich matcha, chocolate, and hojicha. They're all excellent. The matcha ones in particular are rich and creamy in a way I haven't found anywhere else. I do have a few notes. They only let you sample one flavor. With this many options, and several being subtle variations on matcha, one sample isn't enough to choose well. The drinks are good but they're not the reason to come, at least for me. The matcha and hojicha lattes don't hit the same creaminess or intensity as the gelato. They're also not flexible on customization. We wanted a salted cream top on our hojicha latte. No option for it on the ordering machine, and the staff wouldn't accommodate it when we asked. And parking is tough. Budget extra time. Still five stars. The gelato is that good, and none of the above has ever stopped us from making the drive. read more

This is what matcha heaven looks like. They offer matcha gelato with different intensities, along with hojicha, Hokkaido, dark chocolate, and mango sorbet flavors. I ordered 2 scoops, half matcha jasmine and half ultra rich #5 matcha. Both flavors exceeded any expectations I had. The matcha surprisingly did not overshadow the jasmine, and you get a really nice balance of both. The ultra rich matcha was strong and earthy without being excessively bitter. You can tell they do not skimp on matcha quality here. Parking is paid valet in the lot or street parking. The interior space is very cute but quite small. It can also get very packed during the lunch and dinner peak hours, so it can be difficult to find a seat or table. Ordering is done at the kiosk. I already can't wait to come back! read more

I love that they offer a whole range of matcha intensities in their ice cream -- you can pick how deep you want to go, which is such a fun concept. We got a scoop of the matcha ice cream and it was so good! The matcha is obviously really high quality here. Even the darkest and richest level was delicious rather than overwhelmingly bitter, and that ended up being our favorite of the bunch. Layers of matcha jelly, red bean, small, round pellet-sized mochi balls, matcha gelato, matcha cream, crunchy sweet topping. Beautifully made and served with a small spoon on the side. The matcha itself was sweet, light bitterness. Parfait was light in sweetness overall. It says it takes between 15-20 mins to prepare, so order right away if you plan on getting it. I came here on a weekday, so it took about 8 mins. for the parfait. The only minus is that the pellet-sized round mochi balls were frozen together. It slowly melted as you ate, but it was annoying to eat. Overall, I enjoyed the parfait. MATCHA LATTE WITH MATCHA GELATO The matcha latte itself was lightly sweetened. No milk. Clean flavor. It comes as it is without being able to customize it to your liking. Matcha was sweet and light grassy flavor. You can choose whatever gelato you want. I chose the Uji Matcha #3 gelato. The Uji matcha gelato had a deep matcha flavor, sweet, light grassy flavor, light bitter flavor. It is made with lots of ice, so it is icy in some parts. Since you cannot customize the matcha latte itself, it was not worth getting with the matcha gelato. Better to get the matcha gelato and the matcha latte separately. Also ordered the Marukyu Koyamaen 丸久小山園 Matcha, Chigi No Shiro 千木の白（40g). Haven't tried it yet, but happy I could purchase their matchas in store. Ordered it via kiosk. My favorite new matcha spot! I've been to many matcha places all throughout LA and this is the best one in my opinion. It's rich in flavor and extremely creamy both in gelato and drink form. My favorite flavor is the uji matcha and ultra rich matcha #4. You can request to try a sample of the gelato before ordering. I don't remember if there was a limit to how many you can try? To place your order it's through an ipad. Service was quick and they are great about wiping down the tables after a customer leaves to ensure it's not sticky or dirty. The vincity is very small with limited seating so it can be difficult if you want to sit down and enjoy your time there with friends. I have ordered 2-3x from them through DoorDash and my gelato on matcha blend is always sealed nicely in an insulated bag to keep it from getting melted in this summer heat. Welcome to my Koreatown matcha detour. After shopping at The Grove, we decided to make a quick stop for matcha and found this little gem that clearly isn't much of a secret anymore. When you pull into the parking lot it's packed. Valet controls the lot, so if you'd rather not use it you can try street parking -- just know it gets tough depending on the time of day. Once we found a spot and walked in, the decor was nice with a clean Japanese-style feel. There were a few places to sit, but nothing overly spacious or super accommodating. When it came time to order we weren't sure which gelato we wanted, so they kindly offered us one sample per person. Off to the left are two electronic tablets where you place your order. I wish the drink descriptions were a little clearer, but after checking a few details we were good to go. I ordered the Banana Pudding Crème Brûlée Matcha and a regular matcha with a scoop of gelato (we upgraded to the extra matcha gelato on top). The matcha quality was excellent -- you could really taste the difference. The Banana Pudding Crème Brûlée Matcha was creamy, rich, and the cold foam on top was absolutely delicious. One of the best matchas I've had! When you first walk in, the aesthetic is reminiscent of a Japanese tea house (but in a more japandi/minimal modern). There's kiosks where you can order and an ice cream display of all their ice creams. We got the triple matcha drink and one scoop of the Genmai matcha ice cream. The triple matcha drink is really good. The drink comes with matcha jelly and matcha creamtop and is bitter but also slightly sweet. Matcha jelly isn't too overpowering with matcha but it does give the drink a stronger matcha taste. 9/10 The genmai ice cream has a lighter matcha taste which isn't too bitter. Creamy and refreshing with a matcha aftertaste. 8/10 Stuff is friendly and they are nice enough to put our one scoop into a cup (which typically comes in a cone). I really enjoyed Matsu Matcha and am disappointed that there is not one near my house! This place was pretty good and the line was pretty long but also went by pretty fast. You order at the kiosk so it really depends on how long people take to order. Their ice creams are very strong in flavor for both the matcha and hojicha! You are allowed to try one sample of their gelato so I definitely recommend trying that if there isn't a wait. I also got and liked the hojicha latte. I think the only downside of this place is that it is very pricey for the size, but the quality is very good. It was very aesthetic but very little seating and just very crowded so I recommend going on a random day and time. I was driving through Koreatown during the week, and I noticed that this is where Matsu Matcha is. I've seen the videos online where the lines are crazy on the weekends. So I was able to find a street parking. I was able to order the triple Matcha drink, which was amazing. I'd love the bits of jelly Also, the ice cream looked really good and that is something. I will have to try to get next time as well as some of the other drinks that they had. The store is fairly big however there isn't that much seating around so it is a little bit trickier to get a seat inside. Not sure if they allow mobile orders all the time or not but that might be the okay especially if there's a line for the kiosks. This place is nestled right in the main little Tokyo area. When we walked inside, there was a pretty big crowd of people waiting for their drinks along with a hefty line to order. The line moved quite slowly. Once we were in front, we realized you order yourself on a single tablet which doesn't seem like the most efficient system, so that probably contributes to why the line moves so slowly. We also asked one of the workers what Hokkaido was when looking at the gelato flavors, and they said that they don't know... I was a little surprised that one of the workers wouldn't know their own product lol. We went with iced matcha latte with mango. You can specify the sweetness level, we got it at the recommended 50%. They charge an extra 0.75 for dairy-free milk. It's pretty pricey, around $9 each. It took a while for the drink to be ready, maybe 10 or so minutes. It's also super warm inside, I wish they had AC. The matcha latte was pretty tasty and smooth, the matcha flavor was strong. Towards the end I was a little over it though and it tasted a little chalky. It's okay but not sure it's worth standing in such a long line and waiting as long as we did. read more

One tip: don't judge the strength of the matcha by the color alone. Came back again and tried the Matcha Cookie Butter and Guava Matcha. Matcha cookie butter was yummy (did 50% sugar which was perfect). Guava matcha is not it. The texture is so icy/thick - feels like you're drinking a smoothie and the guava was not sweet at all so it felt quite flavorless. The hokkaido milk ice cream is delicious! After coming here a 2nd time, I noticed some things I didn't love. 1 - they don't let you customize milk options on most of their drinks (struggle for lactose intolerant people). 2 - their service is kind of bad/rude. I watched a girl say that she had requested no ice in her drink and the server said, "well I already made it" and the girl said she had asked before they made it and the server said "can i just scoop the ice out" and returned with a very ugly/empty looking drink 3 - they only allow one ice cream sample per person which comes off very stingy as it completely defeats the purpose of samples. Essentially, the one you sample is the one you need to get unless you hate it and have to go for a new flavor that you didn't get to try/don't know if you'd like. What appealed to me before was that they have so many different types of matcha which most people don't know what the differences are. It would've been cool to actually be able to compare them and see what you like. I totally get having a limit like 3 max etc but 1 sample per person is just a dumb idea. Matsu Matcha is such a creatively designed dessert spot. The inside has a traditional Japanese inspired feel that really adds to the experience. I tried both the ceremonial grade matcha and the jasmine green tea. I personally wasn't the biggest fan of the jasmine green tea since it wasn't as sweet as I usually like, but the tea flavor itself was very potent with a really nice aroma. The ceremonial grade matcha ice cream, on the other hand, was absolutely delicious. The color looked perfect and the flavor tasted super authentic and high quality. Even the cone itself was really good. There isn't much seating inside, but it's easy to take your dessert to go and walk around the area. There's also a parking lot, which makes parking super convenient. The staff were attentive and friendly throughout the visit.
