Cheap prices and always has good happy hour deals. Due to having very small crowds, the service is always quick (server Krista is amazing)! In the main dining room, music is loud and plays mostly rap. The food is not incredible, likely frozen, and I find it varies on different days. Think of it as bar food rather than a 5 star restaurant. Similar to coney island quality. My wife and I stopped there before a Fisher show. Service was very slow considering there was only 1 couple at the bar. All we ordered was a drink which came quick enough but after we put in our order for 2 appetizers and waited over 40 minutes we were told our order was paused because a big party came in after us but we could get our food to go if we wanted when it came up. Several folks came in after us and received their food. Should have sat at the bar because the bartender seemed to take care of his customers. On top of that there was no consideration of any good will on the 1 drink we ordered. We paid our 1 drink bill in full and will never go back nor recommend Tony V's to anyone. Tony Rocks! Tony V's is well worth it! Tony is a great guy, who is more concerned about his customers than anything else. The staff and atmosphere are top notch. The beers and food selection are all you could ask for, and Tony and his staff take care of you. We went to the area looking for the Carhartt store, but stumbled across Tony V' in the process. Met Tony outside, and he was a great guy. Spent the next couple hours on his place enjoying great drinks and awesome food. Next time I'm in Detroit, I am definitely heading to Tony V's! Tony V's is a dive bar with excellent food. The spot is a storefront with a roller garage door. There are a few sidewalk tables and a large dining room in the back. We had a cheeseburger and a turkey bacon sandwich both with fries and a pickle and a beer. The food was delicious and huge portions. The service was very good and Tony V came out to introduce himself and check on the food. Really good place. I wish we had come here earlier in the trip because we would have come 2 nights in a row. read more

My family struck out on our two favorite "pre-show" spots last night and were looking for *anything* to eat before our show at the Fisher. My fiancé picked Tony V's because of its proximity to the Fisher and off we went. We noticed the lack of staff right away, and they were decently busy. A frazzled waitress (the ONLY waitress) stopped by immediately to give us menus and water and told us she would be back to take our drink orders. It was a decent wait, but she was back and gladly took our app order, too. She let us know they had 2 no-shows that night and she was on her own, so we dug out our patience. She stopped to let us know our drinks and app were coming soon, that the bartender was helping her wait tables in the dining room which meant he wasn't making drinks... and she would tell him to get to work. Drinks were STRONG! VERY, Very good! Our app came out and the waitress took our food order, and shortly after the bartender came by with free shots for our table to thank us for being so kind and patient. (Not necessary but certainly appreciated!) When we got our food, Tony himself stopped by our table to check in things and explain the cause of the delays, which we reiterated we completely understood and thanked him for checking on us. Between Tony, the bartender and our waitress, our drinks and water glasses were never empty and dirty dishes were taken away almost immediately. The food was EXCELLENT! We had the garlic/parm breadsticks and shared a large pizza. Absolutely delicious, down to the perfectly cooked thin crust. Between the atmosphere, service and food, we've decided Tony V's is now our go-to spot for dinner before or after shows downtown. read more

Last night was a beautiful night on the patio and the food was delicious. I had the Greek Saland with grilled chicken. The greens were really fresh and the grilled chicken was seasoned just right. Plus the serving size was ample. My friend had the fried mozzarella sticks appetizer and though it was very good. The vibe is friendly. Definitely a Wayne State laid back crowd. The owners have taken great care with the patio. There were flowers and grasses planted on the fence surrounding the patio. I think it is the best patio in the Midtown area. I have eaten here several times and always enjoy the food, the atmosphere and the friendly wait staff. read more

We went late-night last night (Thursday) to grab some dinner, and we had a great time. Thursday must be dance-party night, because there was a great DJ and fashionably dressed college kids dancing and drinking on the patio, and a really fun group of people in back hustling. It's cool because there are 2 completely separate areas, and the music doesn't overlap, even though it's loud in both places. If you're looking for a quiet dinner, don't come on a Thursday night, but if you're looking to party, check it out! We tried the fried pickles this time, and they're really good. After spending the day in Detroit, my wife was given the recommendation to stop here and eat lunch. It was easy to find. I ordered Atwater Dirty Blond and the rest ordered water to drink. We got an appetizer of mozzarella sticks. We ordered two pizzas, mine (the only one that mattered) was a meat lovers. They have those little pepperoni pools of grease. Any restaurant who uses that kind of pepperoni is my hands down favorite. Both pizzas were really good. We also had deep fried Oreos for dessert. Good meal, definitely will be going back. read more

I've been coming to Tony V's for about 5 years now. I have NEVER had a bad experience. This past weekend I took my nephew to lunch and the food was awesome, as usual. My nephew commented that "his burger was the best one he has ever had." The service was top-notch as well. read more

I have only been here a handful of times, each time getting a different pizza based on my servers/bartenders recommendations... I would say every time delivered an above average experience, but the BBQ chicken pizza the blonde bartender suggested, (she also went above and beyond when i was having trouble deciding on a mixed drink, and came up with a custom concoction based on my usual likes and dislikes!) I like this spot! The bartender was friendly, attentive, and made suggestions. I didn't try the food as this was a quick stop, but I will go back for it. It is quant and the outside patio is lit by tiki torches with is pretty cool. You can catch the breeze inside while sitting at the bar because the garage door is raised (I love that feature). Stopped in here this week for a late lunch, because I've passed it many times and the patio looks amazing. The patio itself isn't large but has a pretty cozy feel. Everything around it is currently under construction so parking on the street is scarce. But you can find something around here. The first thing I noticed was the happy hour special. Holy cow. It was something like $3 house wines and $2 beers. Absolutely insane. And it's 4-7 every single day. That's gotta be one of the best in the city. I will be back for that. I ended up getting a panini that had tomatoes, cheese, and pesto on it. The sandwich size was a bit small but it was tastefully done. The fries were perfectly crunchy and they gave you a decent portion. There are a ton of booths in the back of the building with a sizable amount of tvs. It would be great for games or big parties. Nice place, casual, good food and nice people. I came here for a holiday party in Dec 2018. The backroom was reserved for our party of 15+. The food was preselected and served buffet style. Typical tavern food, all tasty and well made. But what brought me over was the menu stating they had the best chicken tenders in town. Sure, whatever. But then I had them and they were AMAZING! HOLY CRAP. They were light breaded, and crispy. Was that eggwhite batter? It couldn't have been beer batter. It was made by angels. I scooped up the batter bits at the edge of the buffet tray, it was so good. And the chicken was tender!!! And I typically am bored of breast meat. My husband and I were looking for a "new" place to grab a bite before a show. We like to try new places and wanted to support a local, smaller establishment. I read very mixed reviews beforehand but was willing to give it a chance. I sat down and was not greeted by anyone. My husband met me a few minutes later and we were greeted a few minutes after he arrived. We placed a drink order and received that in fairly good order. A few minutes later, we placed an order for 2 appetizers. A good 30-35 minutes went by before the waitress came out and asked if we were in a hurry because the cook had put our order "on pause " to prepare a larger party's order. When we explained that we were going to the show, she offered to make it a to-go order. No thanks!! So, after wasting an hour of our time, getting no dinner, paying for parking for 2 vehicles, there wasn't even an offer to take care of my drink! Great customer service! read more
