This place is the bomb. I'd give it 6 stars if I could. Everything about this was first class. What a cool building. Old red brick in the bottom of an old hotel. Valet greeted me out front. I sat at the bar and took the bartender's recommendation of the paper plane. It was really good. Then I had to go with the Old Fashioned. That was a proper cocktail. I had the Papperdelle for dinner and it did not disappoint. Don't forget get the Hollaback girl for desert. It was all spot on. If only they were all like this. read more

We had brunch here twice while staying at the hotel. The restaurant space is nice, airy, and upscale feeling. The bathrooms were very clean. The service was pleasant but very slow. I noticed this at other tables as well. There were plenty of wait staff but they were not regularly checking in. It took a long time to get our food. The food itself was fine. Pricey but to be expected at a hotel. The best thing was the burger for brunch. Waffles, pancakes, biscuits and gravy were all warm and acceptable but not special. read more

Very nice spot on a corner with valet parking. We happened in and they were able to seat the three of us for dinner. It was about 6pm. If you have somewhere to be, this is not the place to eat on a Saturday night. It's a posh dining room with huge windows, elegant tables and low lights. The server was very nice but slow and forgetful. I ordered the steak frites which was perfect. Perfect temp, great little salad and the most delicious French fries. Mom had Mac and cheese side. It was rich and flavorful with a bit of a crust on top. My husband's smash burger was fine but he said the cheese was odd. All and all a good visit but much slower than expected. Server greeted us saying she'd be back and she didn't come back. We asked the host just for some water. We were ready to order food before we had drinks and she forgot the appetizer, which finally came out with the food. Wine list is fine but small. The Love Letter from Annette was very sweet but good. The restaurant was so beautiful on the inside. But overall it was lackluster. I will cut them some slack and assume some of the missteps were because it was a busy Valentines weekend. The food tasted really good but it took over an hour and a half to receive it. The steak had a great flavor but we had to send it back twice and ultimately just not wanting it because they could not cook a medium rare steak to save their lives. Located inside The Godfrey Hotel, this restaurant is gorgeous. It's simple, modern, and the aesthetics were everything. While I was capturing some of the views, there was a woman with braids sitting with her laptop who started shouting at me not to record her. I completely understand why people don't want to be in pictures, but since she seemed like she worked there, it felt a little unprofessional. It did leave a bit of a sour taste in my mouth. Aside from that, we were seated quickly and noticed there's even outdoor seating available. The music was a mix of 90s and early 2000s R&B, which immediately put us in a good mood. For drinks, my friend and I ordered pineapple mimosas, and they were amazing. I even asked if they were made with fresh pineapple juice because they were that good. The only con was that they weren't bottomless. For food, my friend ordered the hashbrowns, and I had the pancakes with a side of bacon. Both were amazing. The bacon was perfectly crispy with a portion size that exceeded expectations, and the pancakes had the perfect balance of crisp and softness paired with syrup. Just so good. My friend really enjoyed her hashbrowns too, she just mentioned they could've used some hot sauce. Our server was attentive the whole time, which I appreciated. Despite the awkward encounter in the beginning, I'd definitely come back for brunch or dinner and would recommend this spot. We came here for brunch after staying the night in the hotel. I have been here several times but only for drinks and I was very excited to try their food. Their drinks were spot on. I love eggs Benedict and decided on the crab cake eggs Benedict. Omg!!! The best. I absolutely pigged out. It was sooo good. I will say that although the bartender was sweet and very personable, he was also pretty slow though. The place was hopping and needed someone who could keep up. We came here for dinner reservations the evening of Valentines Day at 8:15pm. We arrived on time and it took about 10 minutes for us to be led to our table. Hostess was very welcoming and dressed for the festive evening. Once we were seated, I heard the table next to us very upset and telling the waitress how they've been waiting over an hour to get their food. I then started looking around and noticed an abundance of hungry faces and empty tables. That in itself was a bad sign. The table next to us also mentioned how a different table that came in after them had gotten their food already. Sure enough, that's exactly how our night ended up going. Drinks came around 9:00pm and the food finally came around 10:00pm. Not only was the food not worth the wait, but it was also not cooked correctly. I ordered a filet to be cooked medium. It came out medium well. I sent it back and it came out well done. Our waitress was just as frustrated as me. Chris, the floor manager/supervisor, was trying his hardest to accommodate and to do damage control. At that point we were hungry and just ready to go. They ended up just boxing our food to go and guess what I found when I looked inside my container. A third filet cooked well done. I sent it back and told them to just forget it. I'm not sure what was going wrong in that kitchen, but I can imagine utter chaos. Majority of folks seated had much disappointment on their faces as well. The hotel and restaurant were both booked to capacity for the entire weekend and it was very apparent that they were not prepared. A total let down for dinner, to say the least. read more

Honestly, Hamilton's has become one of my new favorite spots in Corktown. Located in the Godfrey Hotel, the atmosphere gives a casual, yet modern and luxurious feel, making it the perfect spot for a date, meeting with friends, or dinner with family. The cocktails are classy and unique; my personal favorite being the Garden of Daisies, rimmed with hibiscus sugar! One of the best cocktails I've had! The oysters, ahi tuna crudo tartine, and lobster bisque were absolutely delightful! Their lobster bisque was velvety and generous with sweet lobster, and easily is the best lobster bisque I've had in metro Detroit. I really enjoyed the unique combination of the summer bean salad with lemon-lavender vinaigrette! The only critique from my friend and I was that the salad was pretty pepper heavy, so next time I will ask for less pepper seasoning. The final ending was the dessert and it sure did complete the whole experience. Even if you're full, you must order the bougie-dark chocolate cheesecake... and thank me later. Came here for Valentine's Day and was super excited to try the food and see the restaurant for the first time. We of course expected it to be busy given that it was Valentine's Day, but was quite disappointed in the service we got. Our reservation was for 8:45pm and we didn't get sat until about 9:10pm. Our server rarely came to check up on us throughout the meal and we noticed that it seemed to be the same situation for all of the tables next to us as well. Many tables next to us were getting champagne or free desserts due to the poor service. We got the spinach artichoke dip (very delicious) as an appetizer and it took at least 30 min to arrive. Our entrees took at least another 20-30 min to arrive after that. I got the rigatoni alla vodka with chicken and while it was very good it was a bit cold which was disappointing after waiting so long. We also got the steak frites which was very tasty as well. We finished our entrees and visibly were ready to pay the check for at least 30 minutes until our server finally came back to us. She would come to one table next to us, assist them with something, and then immediately leave without coming to visit any of her other tables. Once the server finally came back to ask if we needed anything, we asked for to go boxes and for a dessert to go. We wanted the chocolate mousse with ice cream but she was not sure which dessert we wanted exactly so she brought us the menu and then left. We waited at least 10 minutes for her to return with the to go boxes (which all of the tables next to us had their food boxes up by staff but we did not) and to tell her which dessert we wanted to go. She then left again and we received our dessert to go from the manager almost 10 minutes later. At this point we were still waiting to recieve the bill. Our server would be no where to be seen for several minutes, come to a table and start talking to customers for a very long time (complained about how she really didn't want to work tonight, which I feel was an interesting thing to say to one of her tables) while we sat there waiting to receive the bill. She finally came back and asked if there was anything else we needed even though our to go boxes have been bagged up and we've been waiting with our card ready to go on the table for at least 25 minutes if not more. Finally she came back with bill and was about to immediately leave again when she dropped it off but we handed the card to her right away as we were more than ready to leave. We ended up not leaving until about 11:15pm. We were super excited to finally try Hamilton's and like I previously said, we very much anticipated that it would be busy due to it being Valentine's Day, but for a lot of our experience we were our servers only table and yet we still ended up waiting much longer than we should have. Overall the food was delicious and it was a super cute atmosphere, but the service was quite disappointing. read more

I made a reservation at Hamilton's to celebrate my husband's birthday. First time here for both of us. The ambiance was lovely, light & airy, and the serve staff were all very welcoming. We had calamari for the appetizer and we both enjoyed it. For entrees my husband had the Walleye and I had the lobster roll. We were both disappointed. Although the Walleye was nice and crispy it was basically tasteless and unseasoned. The lobster roll was also underwhelming. It tasted like it could have been served at the baseball game instead of a nice restaurant. They served my husband a chocolate cake w/ raspberry frosting and that was delicious. So unfortunately we cannot recommend Hamilton's. For the prices the food should be much better. read more

I had the chance to attend a special event at Hamilton's and it was amazing. Vino and Vibes was such a cute concept...wine tasting and charcuterie board construction. The chef came and explained the various items including regions of the cheese, how each meat was cured and the various jams created for the event. The sommelier explained the 3 wine options and discussed which would pair well with the charcuterie board items. It was even a charcuterie board building competition. It was a really well crafted event. Kudos to Tee for a great time. read more

Hamilton's is a part of Godfreys and it brings the same vibes that is present throughout the hotel. It is a clean modern vibe with some art deco decor. The service was great and super friendly folks that made sure to understand our dietary restrictions and even offer suggestions. I got a simple mushroom pasta that was cooked well and had some great flavor and covered in parm. There was great umami in the dish - and my friends really enjoyed their dishes as well. I wish there was a little more to every plate. Is a nice spot for some fun celebrations especially since you'll notice it in the price. read more

We stayed at The Godfrey Hotel so we breakfast'd here as it's onsite. The entire staff is so warm, professional, knowledgeable and efficient. Laurice was our kind server. We began with a pot of excellent coffee roast. It is served in an Alessi carafe to keep it hot, and that it did! Both our orders came with Breakfast Potatoes. Unfortunately, they were lukewarm and more mushy than expected. My companion's Benedict Holandaise sauce was not as lemony as he likes, but the spinach and house ham were flavorful for him. I recommend the very tasty Breakfast Wrap. The Applewood bacon and spicy maple aioli really made the wrap mouthwatering good! We found the price point for breakfast very reasonable. The food quantity was good, and of course I cannot complain about a large pot of excellent coffee roast that is hot. All in all, I'd certainly return. Our first time dining at Hamiltons did not disappoint. We attended the Christmas Brunch with Santa. The food was delicious! The waffle and omelette stations were my favorite. The waffle was so delicious; I added warm syrup, house made whipped topping and raspberry compote. Omggg the best waffle I've had in a long time. My egg white omelette with veggies was divine. Cooked perfectly. They also had an oatmeal station, parfaits and then meat, potatoes, sour dough toast and pastries were brought to your table family style. Oh and don't forget the hot coco bar service. While the idea was good, the hot coco was watered down. Not the strong chocolate flavor you love and expect. My son loved the potato's! I have mixed feelings about this restaurant. This restaurant is in the hotel Godfrey in Corktown. Very cool vibe. Excellent service. The fish dish I had was one of the best fish I've ever had! It said miso glaze but had some little bits of things on top of the fish that were outstanding. My complaint is it was the smallest portion I've ever had. It was more like an appetizer size. I'm going to say it was 2 oz of fish. You will see in my photo that the asparagus tips were as big as the fish. My friends had salmon and rigatoni. They thought theirs was ok. They were also small portions. I would say it was more like Tapas size than dinner. We felt like we needed to go Burger King on the way home. I would definitely order that fish again and may have a salad or soup next time. Although we shared deviled eggs but that was a taste try. Very good though. It looks like they change the menu up. I'm not sure if I went back, I'd be able to order the sable fish again. If you know the portions are small, then you can plan accordingly. I'm not sure what the portions are on the rest of the menu but the things we ordered were more like small plates. So then the price should be adjusted. So all in all pricey small plates. read more

Every time I go to Detroit I am reminded of all the amazing things that are in this city. Tonight I had dinner at the restaurant in the lobby of my hotel, Hamilton's. The building is located on top the same spot where Hamilton Carhartt stitched the first garment that would go on to become the renowned "Carhartt" brand. I chose to do the chefs tasting menu and allow the chef to showcase to me his specialties on a perfectly curated menu. Inspirations from Nobu and Carbone were a pleasant surprise as they both have a favorite dish of mine! Dish after dish impressed this traveled diner. I was the last to get my pancakes, which I thought was the simplest thing to make. They forgot bacon, and they adjusted the bill.
