We were just driving on a beautiful fall day. Came upon this Duck Inn and decided to stop. Quite impressed with the whole thing. The MidWay Duck Inn is one of our favorite places to eat.... The chicken is exceptionally tasty; the onion tanglers are super; the fritters are the best! We drive 50 miles to eat there. Gonna try the blue gill some Monday. read more

My wife and I are long time customers of the Duck Inn, and we meet our old neighbors there on a semi monthly bases. On our last visit we were there a few minutes ahead of our old neighbors and were made to wait in the lobby until they arrived also. The tables were mostly open which made this seem rediculas. I advised the owner that I did not agree and was told she was tired of people "holding all the tables" as she did not have that many. We were then told to have a seat at the bar, shrugged her shoulders and walked away. May I remind you the tables were not busy. Our waitress did not agree with her boss but what could she do about it? It is not only this rediculas rule, but the attitude of the owner about it. read more

I took my parents to the Duck Inn a couple of weeks ago. Inside had been redone in camo decor since I had been there last. Not fancy, but clean and I liked it. I had the chicken, very good. Just as good as Gil's or better. My wife had catfish and loved it. My folks had the tenderloin and country fried steak. They said they were OK, but they would not order them again, they would go for the chicken or fish. Price was reasonable, service was great. One correction to the description however, they DO NOT take credit cards, but do have an ATM available. We are going back tonight to try the bluegill special. read more

This out of the way place is a local favorite. They have typical bar fare with great fried chicken and pot roast (two of my favorites). They have a small bar and you will find the place very cozy and always friendly patrons and staff. read more

really like the atmosphere. they have a nice bar and dining environment. bar and wait staff have always been very nice. they don't serve duck as an entree, but they do serve duck tenders for an appetizer & i could have eaten those all day! their fried chicken is really good and love the mashed potatoes. read more

We drove out to the Lowpoint area to try the chicken dinner. I have to say that we were disappointed. The chicken was very salty, the corn fritters were heavy and oily. We won't be making the drive again. If we want chicken we will go to Kenyon's. read more

We met another couple for dinner here on a Friday night. Called ahead and they said they don't take reservations. We sat up at the bar for just a few minutes before they sat us. Waitress was friendly and attentive. My friend had the fried chicken and said it was good. I wanted something with less calories so I ordered the broiled Orange roughy. The roughy was good but definitely not worth $18.95. Both of our wives had a grilled chicken sandwich because it was the only other thing not fried on the menu. I would definitely say that the Midway Duck Inn is a good place to eat, I just wished they offered more entrees on the menu that wasn't fried. If you want good chicken and like corn fritters, this is definitely your place. read more

Under new ownership, we were anxious to see if anything had changed. At almost 5:00 on a Sunday, there was only one other table occupied. We were seated immediately. Upon waiting for the rest of our party, we couldn't help but notice all the food and debris under our table. It looked as though a shift had just ended instead of started. As the rest of our party had not arrived, we ordered the onion tanglers. Lightly coated red onion rings. Tasty, but a bit too salty. A new improvement, our salads were a lovely mix of romaine, bell pepper, red onion, tomato and croutons. A welcome change from the ice burg lettuce with a slice of green pepper and red onion. Hot bread was also delivered to the table. It seemed to be a freshly made sourdough boule. Very good. Most of our table had ordered the once famous fried chicken. It seems they have changed the recipe for the batter, but not the better! The coating was not the usual hot, crunchy coating we've grown accustomed to. It may have been pan fried, but definitely a different, more floury batter without the expected crunch. I'm not sure this one will hold up to eating the leftovers cold. The mixed veg was a disappointing combination of the usual overcooked frozen and mushy cauliflower, broccoli, carrots & zucchini served slightly warm. This would not be hard to improve upon. Our plates came with a larger corn fritter, however it paled in comparison to the original tastier fritters. Another disappointment. We realize the new ownership is interested in making changes, but some things just can't be improved upon and should be left alone. That's why people have driven from miles around for many years! Service? Seemed fine for other tables, but people seated after us got their food and were leaving before we got our meals. Definite room for improvement. Good luck! read more

We have gone to Duck Inn for years. Always enjoy the drive up the river to get there. Food has always been great! Unfortunately, the ownership change has not brought an improvement. We both had fried chicken with mashed potatoes and gravy. I had green beans; my husband had salad. Worst for me was that now the mashed potatoes are mashed with the skins on and create a gritty sensation with every bite. Chicken is now huge pieces, too big, and was greasy. Fritters were short of being done and were pretty doughy. Food just not as good as it used to be. Salad, gravy and service were all good. Was also put off by a new list of "rules" that has been added to the menu. which informed me after we had ordered that there were no substitutions, and my green beans ended up being a $2 extra charge. That was on me for not reading more closely, I guess. Not sure we will be returning. Will miss the old place, but not the new one. read more

Very Disappointing! Took 45 min to get seated and then it was another hour after ordering to get our meal. We asked the owner why it was taking so long and the reply was "Were Busy!" That was it, no customer service what so ever! We watched other customers come in after us and they got served sooner?? Food was ok but nothing special definitely not worth the trip. went out for chicken on a weekday,,,place was kinda empty but really had a good meal....love the fritters,,even tried to get the recipe but no luck...so i tied to bribe the cook and she would'nt take the money...anyway we will be back..nice scenic dive too read more
