In 2019, we purchased a Ford Explorer and had it converted into a handicap accessible vehicle for our disabled son in a wheelchair. We read all the negative reviews on Midway Ford service but still tried them anyway since we live 5 minutes away in Roseville. The service has been tolerable but far from great. The service crew absolutely has an attitude that is far from customer friendly. Today, however, my wife brought the Explorer in at 8 am in to have the roof racks replaced per a Ford recall. She could not leave the vehicle for more than 8 hours since we needed it pick-up our disabled son later in the day. As a result, she had set the appointment-up 3 weeks in advance to ensure they could have the vehicle completed in that timeframe. She called the dealer to check on status at 130 pm and was told by Mark Bjornnes (service advisor) that they could not do the repair since they did not have parts. She would have to leave it a couple more days. Further, they did not have the parts since someone came in un-scheduled on the weekend for the same recall repair and, per Ford policy, they had to use their remaining parts on that vehicle. Now, if this was true, why didn't they call her and tell her not to bring the car in or, even more logically, at least tell her when she dropped off the vehicle that they could no longer do the repair today? Beyond pathetic. We will never use this dealer again, and I would never recommend them to anyone. Further, I am going to write a letter to Ford corporate about this incident.. I am not sure I would even entertain buying a Ford again after this. As for patience with the owner, it is pretty clear from the other reviews that these type of service incidents are the norm, not the aberration. I have never seen such poor service at Roseville GMC, Roseville Chrysler, Kline Nissan or White Bear Subaru. Zero stars. If I could give negative stars, I would. read more

Not a terrible place (3 stars: I'd call it standard) but also not a place I'd likely purchase from. I did a search of the Ford inventory at local dealerships, listing specific criteria in the vehicle I wanted, found 2 that I wanted to view here--one for the specific vehicle and another to see the interior color to determine if I wanted to custom order vehicle. I emailed a couple of times with a sales guy and decided to go in. When I get there, I'm told that neither vehicle is on the lot, even though I had the window sticker in the emails sent earlier. I ended up test driving one of the models with none of the features or color that I'd purchase. So, I really just wasted time here (minus 1 star). After I left, I was emailed/told that they found the one vehicle that I originally came to see...no thanks! I did however like that the sales person didn't join during the test drive (add 1 star). I find it annoying when they ride along and talk the entire time about the features and why I must buy this model now. Seemingly, there's a lot of inventory but I found the inventory to be more basic without a lot of the added/optional packages (minus 1 star). If I'm going to spend significant money on a vehicle, I'd expect my experience/service to be above standard/basic. Find a sales person you're comfortable with (I highly recommend Jon D at Morries Ford/Lincoln) and then have him/her find you the vehicle you want. If it's close enough, they shouldn't charge you a thing for dealer trade. read more

He went to bat for me and we worked a deal that turned out to be the best I could find. However, word got back to the management of the disagreement. The management immediately then contacted me to work out a very fair & equitable price on the warranty for the new Escape I had just purchased. I had the best experience buying a (used) car this weekend at Roseville Midway Ford. I'll start by saying that even having worked at a dealership in the past I get skeeved out by stepping into them; the sales guys are always aggressive and you can tell they're just wanting to make their commission. This was not the case with Roseville Midway Ford. I am going to go into great detail with this review because I wish someone in a similar situation as I was in had posted something like this to help me. Maybe this will assist someone else in a similar situation! I was really needing to trade in my 2005 Nissan Murano; it was getting too big and clunky and with the mileage on it and the bad MPG I was getting I was due for a new car that didn't piss me off every time I got in it. Problem: I still owed $5900 on it and it wasn't even worth that much. Eugh. This is not going to be fun. I had never dealt with buying/trading a car with negative equity and honestly the whole thing scared that bejesus out of me. I had been searching Car Soup for a good week and saved some cars I liked; after extensive research on models via KBB and Edmunds I decided I wanted to further investigate the 08 Hyundai Elantra at Midway Ford for $6900. Wed: I call John Violette up late in the evening on Wednesday and asked him if I could test drive it on Thursday; he said there was another person interested as well but he could fit me in on Thursday. I knew this car was a really good deal and I didn't want anyone to swoop in on my future baby so I wanted to get there ASAP but I couldn't make it until 5:45pm and that worried me. He could tell I was gung-ho about this car so he put in hold just for me so nobody else could swoop in and waived the hold fee. +10 points, John! Already impressing me. Thurs: 5:45 approached and upon test driving the car and talking numbers and history etc, I was ready to pull the trigger! I wanted to try and keep this whole deal pretty equal when it came to what I was already paying. I didn't want to go much above $215/mo with financing which is what I was paying with my Murano. They offered me $1,500 for my Murano which isn't awesome but it's about what I was expecting based on KBB and the condition is was in. I talked with John and we were able to bump it up to 2k; that made me more comfortable. We talked about down payment and since I have good credit (731) I said that I would prefer not to place a down payment but if necessary I could do $800-$1000, max. I thought that would also help with finance rates. Well, since it was already later in the evening banks were starting close and we weren't going to hear back on financing until the next day; the one lender they heard back from came back with an insane interest rate and Chrissy the finance manager thought it was totally outrageous and axed them right away. They told me they'd give me a call on Friday with the results from the lenders. Fri: Around Noon I got a call from Chrissy and it wasn't the news I was expecting. The best offer I could get was around 6.2% and the lender wanted a down payment of $1,500, minimum. I didn't have that. The tears were ready to roll. She told me that they tried their hardest to get me the best possible deal but the negative equity on my Murano was what was really doing me in. She told me that since they knew my budget and how much I wanted the car that they were going to give me more for my trade in to try to make the payment more attainable. Long story short I was able to get the extra $500 for the down payment from my wonderful boyfriend as an early Christmas present and I told Chrissy I would be in on Saturday to cross the T's and dot the I's. Sat: I got there a little earlier than they were expecting so while I went to sign all the paperwork with Chrissy John went in the back to make sure my car was on the top of the list for cleaning so I could drive out of there asap. Paperwork was super easy and I was only in there for around 30 minutes with Chrissy - - she made sure I was aware of all the extra extended warranty and other things I could purchase but she never once shoved them down my throat like other places. She was able to bring the price down a bit on the GAP coverage to fit more in my budget and all in all my new car payments (with GAP) are now around $246/month. Not too bad! Considering I was at $215/month before with a crappier car! Once I finished up with Chrissy I sat with John for another 30 min and chatted about life while my NEW car was being cleaned! He's a hell of guy. I really enjoyed his company and he's made this whole experience so pleasant. In conclusion: Midway Ford went TOTALLY out of their way to make sure my experience was amazing and that I walked out of there with the car I wanted. They could have easily given me the numbers and told me to figure it out but they WORKED with me. Especially on a car that hadn't even been put on the lot yet! A+++ Midway. I don't like spending money and I don't like new things. So it takes a pretty exceptional salesman to get me to write the biggest check I've ever written for a brand-new car. John Violette is that salesman. He knows his stuff up and down, but what impressed me most about him was his almost saintly patience. I dithered for almost a month about my new Focus, and John never once made me feel pressured. "I know this is a big deal for you," he said. "For me, it's just another Focus lease, but for you, it's one of the biggest decisions you'll ever make. So take all the time you need." How's that for a car salesman? By the time I drove off the lot in my new car (which is AWESOME), I was totally confident that I'd made a good decision. My daughter had an issue with her car which is 2 years old. The issue is under warranty. Then found out there was a recall on this particular item as well so definitely a problem. I was never informed of this recall. The issue causes my daughter to be unable to drive her car in cold weather. She has no fan, no defrost and no heat. She works and lives over the border in WI and needs a car to get to work and can not see out the window due to frost build up no matter what she does. We purchased a fan to assist with this but it doesn't give enough airflow to defrost. The service man I spoke to was polite but said they do not offer loaner cars in these situations. I don't understand this. Something that is wrong with the car that is not our fault, but renders it unable to drive in certain conditions (the conditions we currently have) and no solution is offered? She will not have this fixed for a few days/. He then said I could pay to rent a car from them (what?...why should I have to pay? If a rental is needed why isn't ford paying for it?) When I continued to press the issue he said only the service manager could give out loaners...again...what? I thought no loaners were given? So do you have them or not? In all honesty this feels like a stereotypical situation of how women are treated in all areas of the automotive industry. Super unhappy. This seems like poor business practice. read more

DO NOT BRING YOUR VEHICLE HERE!!! Brought my car in for a new power steering column and they tried to over charge for parts which they sold on their parts website for cheaper. My radio worked fine when I dropped it off and now nothing works with the audio system. The service manager Jim Murphy is arrogant and won't provide the "proof" that it had a fault code from before. This is the second bad experience with Midway Ford and you can bet that it will be the last!!! RUN!!! read more

I purchased a certified pre-owned, 3-year old Explorer. Charlie Gillespie not only brought directly to the car we eventually purchased, but was very up-front with the couple of minor things it had wrong. About a month later I scheduled the repairs with the service department. They not only were great to work with, but actually replaced two of the items rather than fix them, and all at no cost. They were amazing to work with and went above and beyond our expectations! AWEFUL EXPERIENCE. DO NOT GO TO MIDWAY FORD. I recently took my vehicle to Midway Ford to be diagnosed for it's engine problems. I was told by the mechanic that the vehicle needed new spark plugs and coils and that this was the only problem with the vehicle. I agreed to have the work done and the very next day the check engine light was back on. I took the vehicle back for a second look and noticed the engine coolant was extremely low which the Service Department never pointed out the first time I took the vehicle in (I was told my vehicle was fixed and all it needed was spark plugs and coils the first time I went in). To make a long story short I paid $450 to have my spark plugs changed when the real issue was the head gasket, I had the vehicle towed to another dealership and found that the vehicle was leaking engine coolant internally and that the vehicle needs to have the head gasket replaced after Midway Ford had told me the car was fine and they fixed it!!!!! I contacted the Service Manager Jim Murphy to ask for a partial refund for the work that was done and he was unwilling to do so. The mechanics do not know what they are doing and there is no integrity or accountablilty in the Service Department. I would not recommend Midway Ford to my worst enemy! -Ted O read more

If I could give zero stars I would! I scheduled an appointment with Nick Bauman at their service department for a recall. He gave me a call and told me that the service would take anywhere from a day to a day and a half. When I asked why it would take so long he said, "Because that's how long it takes". I was a little taken aback by his tone but I still let him know that I had planned on leaving it there for a full day. Long story short, they don't want to do the recall. He basically told me his service department is too busy to help me out right now. This is a dealership for crying out loud! Have a 2009 Ford Escape. Took it in last year because it was bucking and stalling out and constantly sounded like it was struggling. They convinced me I needed a new transmission. 5k. A year later the same thing happened and they wanted me to pay another 5k. Finally had to go to Ford USA and get the issue resolved. These people are scam artists, unprofessional and incompetent. Took my car in to have an oil change, a light fixed and a couple other small things. Made an appointment well in advance, for 8AM on a Saturday. Dropped it off, and nobody seemed to be expecting me, so I had to explain everything all over again that I wanted done. Got a call at 12:30 PM telling me that I needed $1600 worth of work on the car. Me, being a trusting soul, told them to go ahead. They said the car would be ready at 4:30 PM. I arrived at 4:30 PM sharp, and they were not even close to being ready. Finally at 5:45 PM I got out of there. Made it home, and parked the car in the garage. It was soon after that we noticed a strong gasoline smell from the garage. I opened the garage door and tried to start the car to get it out of the garage, and the car started spraying gas all over the place. I had to spend the next few hours cleaning gasoline off my garage floor and airing out my house. It was very cold out. I tried to call the dealership several times that evening and Sunday, sent several emails, and did not get any response. Finally on Monday morning, 30 minutes after they were "open" I got a hold of someone, explained to him what was going on, and they sent a tow truck. Tow truck came in about 45 minutes, and took me to the dealership. The service guy suggested I just hang around, so I did, and 15 minutes later he came out and said it was done. The tech "forgot" to put a clamp or something on. He said it was totally their fault. He filled up my gas tank and said: "sorry". That's it. Their mistake could have burned down my house, killed or injured my family, and all I get is a lousy tank of gas and a sorry. The fault was 100% theirs, I was extremely inconvenienced, and all I got was "sorry". Nothing I did was my fault. I would suggest going elsewhere with your vehicle repairs. I am beginning to wonder if I even needed all the work that was done. I also wonder what else the tech forgot to do. Thinking about moving away from Ford vehicles all together after this experience. I see the only other review of their service department was negative as well. Should have looked here first. read more

Purchased a 2013 "certified" pre-owned Expedition from them last week. Horrible experience, I purchased the car from out of state and asked for the salesmen to take pictures on the interior and exterior and asked if there was an damage. I was sent pictures, there was damage to the interior armrest, they tried to clean it when I was there, it's now sticky to the touch. I saw the damaged and went to the parts Dept. There was also pre rust on the back of the left trucks that I was also not told about until I got there. The used car manager refused to cover the cost, so I paid for it and left. I have still not received it. If they didn't make me give them a $2000 non-refundable deposit, I would have left right there. Then I got home and brought it to the Ford near my home, since the air didn't see like it was working correctly. I was told now that the freon was a 1/2 lb low, the sunroof weather stripping was not on all the way and the drivers side door makes a cracking noise when you open it. $122 later. And now over $300 out of pocket for a "certified car". I called "Tom" the manager this evening who didn't care and simply said... " I wish you didn't buy this car from us." And the followed up with " it's a used car, what did you expect!" Glad I bought a "Cerfified car from them". This dealership is not trustworthy!!! read more

Wish they had negative stars to give a business. Took my Escape in for a recall (to add the bottom brace to the engine), they "accidentally" changed the oil. I thought it was weird, but thought whatever. Next time I went to change the oil (something I always do myself), I found the oil drain plug over tightened to the point it had damaged the threads on the oil pan. My one conversation with the service manager Jim Murphy was him making every excuse in the book about how his tech couldn't have done that. His tech would never make a mistake like that (unlike mistakenly changing the oil when he was suppose to be bolting something on). I then brought the vehicle in like he had asked and was told by a service adviser that I would be called back to make an appointment. Mr Murphy left one message the next day while I was at work. I subsequently left three messages for him to call me back with time I would be available - he has failed to call me back. Between other review sites and the BBB, it seems all the Midway Ford service department is good at is making excuses why they are so inept. Talked to my local service person about fixing this, it isn't even close to the first repair of this nature he has had to do courtesy of Midway Ford. read more

This place is terrible! DO NOT GO FOR REPAIRS!!!!! After almost three weeks with my vehicle in the shop, I was informed by Roseville Midway Ford's service adviser, Dave Tichenor, that my vehicle had the engine replaced. Mr. Tichenor stated, "I don't believe the used engine installed leaks oil. But we will shampoo it and check for oil leaks at the time of your next oil change." Mr. Tichenor also stated, "If this engine is leaking oil, it has a 12/12 warranty and you will not be responsible for any repairs." When I brought the vehicle back in on June 13, 2013 for an oil change I was informed that the engine does leak oil and that the engine's 12/12 warranty does not cover the leaks and because of the prolonged time frame has voided my after market warranty. This leaves me to pay a quoted $1,400.00 out of pocket on top of the $449.92 out of pocket I have all ready paid. Now stuck with a vehicle (that before I brought in did not leak oil) now leaks oil! I have brought this to the attention of the BBB as well as will be inquiring in Conciliation Court. I will re-post further findings. VERY POOR SERVICE!!! read more

DO NOT bring your vehicle here for service work, here's my experience. I was having transmission problems on my 2006 mercury mountaineer, the problem was it was slipping when I would accelerate. They said that the transmission was bad and needed to be re built, they convinced my warranty company that that's what needed to be done. My warranty company would pay up to $4,000 for the repair, of course it came to the full $4,000. After having my truck for over a month they said that it's fixed and ready to go. I picked it up and the next day my truck was doing the same thing that I brought it in for. I called them and they told me to bring it back. A few days later they called me and said that it was a loose wire in the harness going into the tranny and to pick it up its all fixed now. I picked it up and the next day it did the same thing so I called and brought it back and they said that they were going to replace the wire harness. They didn't call me for a week this time and I am thinking that they fixed the wrong thing and I was wondering how they are going to deal with this mistake. They called me after a week and told me "bad news", they emphasized that the tranny absolutely needed to be re built but there is a transmission control module that went out on it. He told me that they would be willing to charge me nothing for labor but the part is $2,000. I asked can you at least charge me your cost because I know there is a huge markup for those parts and they WOULD NOT DO THAT. I said that I paid $4,000 dollars for nothing the manager said "you didn't pay anything your warranty company did", I believe they weren't happy with just making $4,000 dollars for a vehicle they had in the shop for over a month and they wanted more money. I asked them why they rebuilt the tranny and they said because it was slipping, I said that it's still slipping after you rebuilt it and they said that's because of the module that went bad on it. Long story short they used up all my warrant and a month later I picked up my truck with the same problem that I brought it in for in the beginning and I am stuck with it. read more
