Midwest Appliance and Repair repaired an eye on my stove less than a year ago. The cost was $100. They came out again to repair the other side of the stove, and the cost was $245 for the same thing that I paid $100 for previously. I asked why there was such a big difference in the price and the technician said it was due to inflation...now while I do understand that things have gone up with all that is currently going on in our country..but to go from $100 to $245 seems a bit excessive. read more

My oven went out and my landlord contracted this company to deliver a replacement. The oven worked for less than a week and also came with the incorrect range covers so my pots and pans slide when cooking. My landlord sent them the maintainance request two weeks ago and told me to follow up with them to schedule service. The owner answered and told me he doesn't deal with tenants and told me to call my landlord because he didn't know what I was talking about. I tried to explain that he has the service request. He started screaming and yelling and told me "I don't know what t f**** you're talking about" and hung up on me. Very rude and disrespectful. Would not recommend. read more

Firstly, I gave this place1 star because Yelp says I have to. If you have an appointment, make sure you take your phone to the bathroom with you. Boyfriend had an appointment to have a gas stove connected. The appointment was set between 1pm and 5pm and the technician would call when en route. This is what happened in a 5 minute timeframe. He went to the bathroom, they called, he missed it, they left a voicemail, the boyfriend listened to the message (which stated the appointment was cancelled because he didn't answer), he called them back and was told they had already called the next customer. To top it off, he was told he would have to pay an $85 cancellation fee in order to reschedule. They give you a 4 hour appointment window to wait on them, but can't give a customer 5 minutes to call back because they may have had to use the bathroom and then they're probably going to listen to the voicemail we left before they call back? Won't be rescheduling or doing any business with them in this lifetime. read more

First off the New Owner will say i lie on everything I say. He said we did not call but have past cell phone records that we called for 3 months with no return call. the handle on our frig was dented when we bought it. He said he would fix it, when confronted he showed us a picture of it that he photo shopped the dent out. Said that's what it looked like when delivered. Not true!!! Did not tell us light didn't work. And ice maker also leaks. None of that was on their 6 month warranty. He does not honor his word and called us lairs multiple times. Called Midwest for our 15-month-old GE dishwasher. Tech told me it was drain pump failure and it would be $350 to repair, which was bizarre because it was a $35 part through GE. It was not the drain pump. I kept reading up on the code after their visit in an attempt to rule anything out before I ordered the part for giggles and/or bought a new dishwasher. I read it could be a clogged pressure sensor - it took 2 minutes and a scrub brush with dawn soap and it was back up and running. I almost spent a few hundred dollars on a new one. Can't recommend. Almost a year ago I Ordered the touch screen panel for my dishwasher that was broken and they installed it. Worked for a a few months then the panel peeled off. Called a handful of times with no answer. Left them three voicemails about it over the months following the peeling. Gave up so my husband got it to stick back on but I knew it was a red flag. Tonight at 11 pm I woke up because it started sounding an error alarm on the panel and it wouldn't turn off. By 12 am I had to unscrew it, pull it out, and unplug it. I was so hopeful if I was patient I could get them to answer or call me back so I'd never have to write a negative review for them, but from my experience they ghost you after a servicing fails. read more

I wish I would have read the reviews before purchasing a washer and dryer from Midwest Appliance. I purchased items on Saturday, to be delivered today, Tuesday. The delivery guys were in such a hurry to leave, they didn't make sure everything worked before they left. The dryer does not spin. I called and they said the owner would come tomorrow between 2-4pm. I work from home and could not schedule at that time, so requested any time before 1:30pm. I received a text from owner saying "we will try our best but cannot guarantee it." Hopefully they will make this right, and I can write a positive follow-up, but in the meantime, I spent $399 and have no working dryer. read more

We purchased washer and dryer from here. We are to receive our merchandise today. I will give you a proper rating after we get our appliances, with the functionality. We received our Samsung washer and dryer the washer seem to work OK the dryer on the other hand the top of the dryer was loose with screws missing and when we ran the dryer it shook all over the place and was not drying properly prepared. So I called the store and asked for them to come out and look at and repair the dryer. They were supposed to come out on Monday. So Monday came and no one showed up. I called the store and the manager said that there was no record of me calling. So I said can you please send someone out to help repair this dryer fix it. Manager got a little disgruntle with me. So I had him talk to my husband. After that conversation the manager said that he would be sending his delivery men out to pick up the washer and dryer. We had surrendered our old washer and dryer to the delivery men. So when the delivery men came to pick up the washer and dryer that they sold us they gave us a check for the full amount that we paid for the washer and dryer that was used. I went to Best Buy and bought a brand new Samsung washer and dryer instead. So in review midwest appliances would be a good place to go if you don't mind waiting for Service. read more

So this just happened today. I purchased a gas dryer on 2/25/22. I was told that they would install the dryer. However when they dropped off the dryer they said they couldn't hook it up. I ended up having to find someone else to install the dryer. Once it was hooked up it didn't not turn. I was able to schedule a appointment for today to pick up the dryer to get it fixed. I asked for after 4. I was told my the lady that she didn't have anyone that was able to come after 4, however she could schedule it for 3-4 and they would call before they came. That did not happen. I received a voicemail a little after 2 stating that she was calling because the technician was there to look at the dryer. I call back and then told that because I wasn't at home I would have to pay $55 in order for the technician to come back out. To look at a dryer that never worked for the beginning. At that point an argument started when I stated it wasn't fair and I was told that they would call and the before they came and it was the wrong time. I was yelled and told that is wasn't their fault and it was my problem. They would not be fixing the dryer if I didn't pay the $55. They are simply the worse! They do the bare minimum to refurbish the appliances, only to give you a 6 month warranty, that you will definitely need because trust me, they'll be coming back out. 2. Dale, the owner has poor people skills and customer service. He gets upset with clients because they communicate with him about his business practices. He ignores phone calls and hangs up on you. 3. The owner will also lie straight to your face about items as well. I caught him in 2 lies in the same visit. He said that he no longer got new appliances, but when I went to the store the next say because he wasn't answering my calls, there were several new items in the store. He also has the nerve to tell me that they test all of the items, in store before they deliver them. Terrible customer service. I have a friend and she bought a washer from them last week. Within two days the washer had issues rinsing out the clothes ( spin cycle did not work). The company immediately sent out a repair guy. After another day ... same problem occurred. My friend reached out to them again and the owner said he was tired of hearing complaints about the washer and told him to "Suck his D&$k ". I was shocked on how bad they were treated. These are good people and do not deserve to be mistreated. Worse part , they took there old washer that was only two years old and said they could not return it because it was scrapped for metal. Horrible!!!!!! Purchased $2300 worth of appliances. None of these appliances worked! I had to pay $120 to a plumber to tell me it was the ice maker that was broken. It has been difficult to get any of these appliances fixed or repaired. Owner has hung up on us. We still have 2 appliances that do not work! He blames 'someone' for damaging the stove that has a broken shaft and knob when it's been sitting in a vacant house. The other stove was delivered with 3 burner caps missing and caused us to fail inspections. We spent about 3 weeks to get him to order new caps. The fridge leaks and he didn't show up when he said he was going to come which made the tenant upset. Had a terrible experience and would not want to wish this on anyone else. read more

Ordered a part for us and lost it or "it was on the delivery truck out delivering appliances", told us after 6 weeks we could have it at no cost for the inconvenience. When we went to pick it up and now he claims he sent it back since he hadn't heard from us.... keep in mind this is a used appliance and repair store.... so 1 phone call after us going in every weekend for 6-8 weeks and him not being able to locate the part he sent it back, because he in good faith ordered it for us with "his" money and we never showed up to pick it up so he wanted his money back. When they delivered it, it did not fit, after they assured us that it would. #3 on their contract clearly states, "You may choose to switch the appliance for one that will fit. If we are delivering you may pay and additional 40.00 to have the replacement delivered." When I called Dale and confronted him, he immediately told me that he didn't care what it said on the policy. !!!!!!!BEWARE!!!!!!!!!!!Worst experience I have ever had dealing with a used appliance shop. I was talked to and treated rudely after having the set for 1 day. Informed that the set was not working properly was told someone would come out a week later on a Saturday. No one showed up or called. Repair guy finally came following Wednesday and informed me that he worked Saturday but was not told to repair my set. He changed the transmission and assured me that was the issue and it was fixed all by filling it up with water. I asked him to let me put a few things in there to make sure it worked he informed me he couldn't stay for that which I understand. I immediately washed after him leaving and it was not working and now it made a loud noise. I called immediately after just to leave message on machine so that they could her the noise. I never received a call back, I called four more times before I got an answer and was talked to rudely and hung up on. It's not my fault you sold me crap I just want a working washer. He talked to me with anger and frustration and basically accused me of why it wasn't working properly. I'm so upset and frustrated I waisted my money thinking this was a good buy and it wasn't but what baffles me the most is the rude service and lies I have been given during this process. I have to take off work again Friday because they claim they will bring me another washer we will see. I should not have had to go through all the rude behavior during this time frame. I just want to wash our clothes. I do not recommend this place to anyone, but to eaches own. After Friday I will get BBB involved and I may even have to go to small claims court but it will be worth it after the behavior and treatment. We will be steering clear of this place in the future, and I strongly recommend you do, too. We bought a used dryer from the business in May 2018 and it worked fine for a few months. Then we suspected the heating element had gone bad in mid-December because we could get no heat to dry the clothes. We waited five days for service before the heating element was checked (it was bad) and replaced. But our clothes still weren't getting dry. We twice called back to explain the issue, and twice we were told they weren't getting dry because we had lent in our vent. We knew that wasn't the issue because the vent had been replaced less than a year earlier. And, of course, the company doesn't check vents when they are on a service call. So now the vent is still clear and our clothes are still wet. No follow-up service call for us, and we are deciding what our next step will be. Save yourself the trouble and go elsewhere for your appliance needs and/or repairs. I couldn't recommend it in any stronger terms. read more

My husband and I wanted to by a new used refrigerator and stove for our 10th anniversary we went and picked out a set. When they show up and install the fridge and then the stove as they are finishing up with the stove I check the ice maker and it doesn't work. There is also a spot on the stove that was supposed to be painted and it was ridiculous looked like a kindergartener tried to fix it. Horrible service!!! Super nice when I went in to purchase, but follow up has been horrendous. I was actually, initially very impressed. I purchased brand new washing machine, still currently under warranty. I was provided the 6 month warranty (as advertised on the window) with is effective until 7/11/2021. I have called regarding service concerns, with no response back. Finally suggested that I would report on social media and owner called back and told me to "go fuck myself." I asked my uncle, local law enforcement, to go try to "rationally discuss" and he was informed that he will not honor warranty. He basically suggested that I was stupid and did not know "how to work the machine." I called, with video, in hopes to troubleshoot and was told that there is not an email address or phone number that I can text the video to. Several horrible reviews on BBB, although I added an additional complaint. Also reported to Whirlpool. I simply want a refund because I never ever want to deal with this type of business owner again. Horrible communication. Very disrespectful to women, as when I was trying to explain the concerns, I was told not to speak "over him." Definitely would not recommend!!!!! They promised me they would stay while i went to the hardware store. They left before i got back. An older woman and disabled man were left to install the dryer. If I could give negative stars, I would. We bought a washer, dryer and fridge on July 8, 2019. Within a couple weeks, the ice maker crushed all the ice and water poured out, never got cubed ice. All items had a 6 month warranty. The service call was supposed to be Sept 3. When they didn't call or show up, we called the next day and they said they called both numbers and no one answered, but amazingly, no message was left nor did it register to either phone. Showed up the next day, Sept 4th took the part out of the fridge and said they would try to find another one, but it may be a month or so. Well every time we called, which I called 3x and my son called at least 2x it was a lie, it would be 7-10 days, it would be 2 months, etc. They are very RUDE and disrespectful over the phone. The bottom line came when my son called today, November 4th, 2 months after they took the part and said that they don't have the replacement. When questioned about why they keep changing the story, they got extremely rude, verbally assaulted my son over the phone and then threatened him by saying, "Come over here and keep talking s**t and I will knock you the f**k out". They were told that they could just order one on Amazon, so we were told to "go ahead and do it, I dont work for you". Well I am sorry but you DO work for us when we have a 6 month warranty on something that we bought from you. Save your money, because if there is an issue, it will not get fixed. All you will get is BS lies and get disrespected. This is NO WAY to run a business and I am surprised they are still even there, especially after reading other reviews. I wish I had read reviews before coming here. This place was recommended by a friend. Its a shame people have to act like this. There is no communication at all. According to the owner (hmmm), the ticket was on his desk, well if that is so, then how about a call every couple weeks to let your customer know that you are still working on it, but they said, "there is no reason to call when we don't have the part". I have never felt the need to post a review until now. Do NOT go with this place. You will get ripped off. I was told I needed a new ice maker. I paid $300 to have it installed. I was assured this was the correct diagnosis. One month later it slowly quit producing ice. I continued to be patient with it and waited another month. I called for it to be looked at. I was told it was passed the 30 day warranty period but they would still come put another one in. I thought that was kind even though I was aggravated they couldn't find my ticket and it took me 4 attempts to reach them. They did come and I had another brand new one put in. When Henry came he said for sure it was the ice maker that was the problem. I made sure I asked to be sure it wasn't anything else. Less than 2 weeks the new one quit producing ice. I called and got no return call. I waited a few days and called them back. Again had to leave a message. Dale called and said there was nothing they could do. They were overly generous in coming back the second time he said. He explained it must be something else. Then he backtracked when I said then I didn't need one to begin with. Then he said the diagnosis was correct and I did need an icemaker. He told me he is not willing to put another in nor is he coming to my home to fix it at no cost. He said the new one is not under warranty. I said I didn't feel that was right that I would have to waste $300 for something I maybe didn't need to begin with. I asked what would it cost to come look at it. He then said he's not coming at all. Then he hung up on me. Poor communication skills. Poor return phone calls. Poor service. Henry wore a bracelet that said the word "F***" on it and I was hoping my kids didn't see it when he was here. He was very kind so I didn't say anything. He was also on his phone each time he was here and I also didn't say anything, even though he was late for the appointment and it put me late getting my kids where they needed to be. I was patient with them because the owner is from my town. I really thought going with a local business meant something. Guess not! Now I'm out $300 and had 2 icemakers put in and neither work. Just like when I originally called him. I would like my $300 back and go elsewhere. I already paid for the service fee to begin with, which sounds like it was incorrect diagnosis. I bought a used Whirlpool over/under refrigerator/freezer from these folks about 6 weeks ago, and I am very happy with it. It is in great shape and works great. You can hardly tell it was a used unit. It was clean and ready to go when it was delivered, and the two gentleman who delivered and set it up did a great job. I went by their location on a Thursday to see about getting my dryer and washer repaired. I was told it couldn't be until the next Thursday. I called the next day and scheduled it for the next Thursday, and was told that Matt would call and give me a time window. I didn't hear anything Monday or Tuesday, so I went by on the way home and was told between noon and 2 on Thursday. (I took off work to be home.) At almost 2, I hadn't heard from anyone, so called and spoke with Dave, the owner. He was a jerk - said it was scheduled for the next Thursday and best he could do was sometime today. When I tried to tell him it was never scheduled for the next week, he was a real jerk - said did I want them to come or not. Of course I had no choice, I tried to speak and he cut me off. Said have a nice day and hung up on me. He then refused to answer calls from my number, and I had to have my neighbor call to find out if and when they were coming. The technician who finally showed up at about 4 did a good job, but I will never use them again!!! read more

This was the worst experience I have ever had with customer service in my life. I paid money up front and paid the balance over the phone the day of delivery which was two days later. He also asked me if I paid the $100 because he don't recall me paying and I informed him I paid over the phone with him. Like really your going to deliver without a full payment come on now. The repair guy came and he informed me that the transmission was bad, he also informed me that he worked Saturday and his boss Dale never told him to come assist me with my issues that that very day is when he had first heard of my issues. He changed the transmission and spent the washer with water in it, I asked him could i put a small load in to make sure it washed properly he said he didn't have time for that and assured me it would work fine. as soon as he left i put a load in and instead of my clothes actually washing it just twirled around the agitator, there was no actual wash just a twirl and now it made a really loud noise. I immediately called the shop and was hung up on, called again and left a message with the noise in background so that they could hear. Next day did not receive a call back i call about four times before someone answered. When dale answered he argued back and forth with me and told me his repair guy fixed it and basically i broke it is what he was telling me, got rude again and hung up on me. All I wanted was a working product that's all, and that's what i told him. I would never recommend anyone to ever purchase from this company. I was better off going to Heavenly appliance in Washington Park Il. May not be a good area but the give good customer service. I wish i would have gone to them i regret going to this place. And sad thing about it they wont give me my refund. i may have to involve my Aunt who is an attorney and take this to small claims court if this issue is not resolved. Bought washer and dryer set last year for my daughter. Soon after it was delivered it started making a banging noise. They came out to service it but repairman said, "I don't hear anything." Daughter even showed a video of it. Shortly thereafter it leaked. Came out again. Same type of response, "Well, it's not leaking now." Daughter and roommate felt like they didn't believe them and they were uncomfortable calling again so they just stopped using it. Dryer still worked fine. A few months later I came for a visit and heard the story. Dryer was still good but we didn't want to hassle with them anymore so I asked them to come and pick them up. They wanted me to PAY THEM to pick them up! He said we are too busy to pick them up but if you pay me $50 I'll take them. Nice customer service. Go elsewhere!!
